Hey there Clammers. Hoppin in here to give you a quick run down of just what to keep an eye out for when it comes to the new Earn Free Clams with Carl.
UPDATE 11/10: If you are having issues where the Video kicks you out of the game whenever you tap on it, please let us know. They are researching that issue further. For all OTHER issues…read on below. 😉
Keep an eye out in your game for this silly character, Carl from the Family Guy Video Store, in your game. He can help you to earn some Free Clams. WOOHOO!! (There is a bug with Android Devices for this feature, hang in there while they correct it. Once fixed, you will get the option to watch Videos too. Until then you won’t see Carl.)
If you catch him round your town with a Clam over his head, just give him a tap and you will see the pop up screen for the ability to earn Free Clams by just watching some silly Videos. Figures a Video Store Employee would be the one to do this. Lol.
Just tap on the “Watch Now” option to trigger this cool new feature. (The amount of Clams you will earn by doing this will vary.) You will then be taken to another screen where the Video will appear for you to view (the ones I saw were pretty short). Once the Video is all done, you will see one of two kinds of pop ups again…
Welcome Back, task complete…
If you see this pop up, it means that is it for this go round and you are all done. Just tap on “Awesome” to collect the Clam payout listed for the video you watched.

Welcome Back, watch another video…
From time to time you may get the option to watch more than one video. If that is the case you will see the “WATCH MORE” option come up after you watch your first video. To keep going, just tap on it.
Once completed, Carl will just disappear from town. The Clam icon will show up and collect to your total. There is not set day or time he shows up, so just keep your eye out for him. He will hang around close by the Griffin’s House when he does decide to appear.
FYI …If it says “No More Videos” when you tap him…that is exactly what it means. There are no more videos for you to watch as you’ve watched them all already. Check back again in a day or so to see if more available to you.

Atleast once a day i get a tv in front of the griffen house hold and when i touch i get 2 watch up to 7 short ads and always get my clams! Its a good little edition, no sign of carl tho

That is because what you are seeing is TinyCo testing the watch for Clams options for a select few players as it didnt quite work. Depending on results… they may release it game wide again.

I play daily on ios but hardly ever get xarl, and when i do he rarely has available videos 😦

This feature is disabled currently. It is only in testing to a few select players. So if you see them… report your experience to TinyCo. If testing works… they’ll launch it game wide again.

I never see Carl or a TV on Peter’s front lawn. I’m lvl 20 and have been playing for a couple months. Using iOS 8.1.3

Ever since Carl reappeared in the game, all it says is “No available videos at this time.” Is there something wrong, or it’s not really to shell out clams?

My husband has that tv on his game and he is getting it to pop up every day and give him tons of clams!!! I think this is unfair because now he Is getting to buy all the extra characters and I cant! Can this be fixed to be fair to the rest of us.

I’ve been seeing Carl pop up on my screen for a while now but have never been able to watch any videos because every time I click on him I got the “no more videos available” pop up on my screen even though I have never been able to watch any videos, could this be a problem with the newest update of the game or a problem with my iPhone itself ?

Every time Carl comes to town there’s never any videos available, it would be nice to earn some free clams. I notice that alot of people who play the game on the galaxy note are having troubles also. I’m using a galaxy note 2 as well so I don’t know if it’s just not working for certain phones or what but I hope they fix this soon.

How long is he going to be arOund for? he only showed up maybe 3 or 4 times since he started to pop up finally in the game & I haven’t seen him in about a week. Give or take. & I’m on the game frequently. At maximum 6 hour intervals & that’s only cause its overnight. I’m on android. No complaints, it’s awesome i got him at all, just be even more awesome to see more of him. Haha
& it’s never like hes there just with no videos, well, 1 out of the 3 or 4 times, but he just is literally never showing up O:

You need to have the American Dad event in your game and have the latest version of the game updated from your app market. Also…Kindle never really saw him.

Okay so I have another problem. I can not connect to facebook. when I try it goes to my facebook app but it either takes me back to the town without connecting or the app crashes again

Hm, there was a series of articles back in June on how Apple was “cracking down” on the practice of offering free premium currency in-game in return for the player watching short videos. Number of game updates were rejected for that reason, but maybe they’ve dialled back on that recently…

I’ve had Carl for about a week now on Android. His clam shakes, I click on him, watch a video with no problems, go back to the game (again, no problem), and claim my 2 clams. BUT WAIT!!!! No clams rewarded!!!!! While I understand it is free and totally random, and is limited to a select amount of videos, if I take the time to load up a video and watch ads for AD on TBS I want something for it. And trying this after uninstalling and reloading the game and still getting nothing is frustrating. Have messaged Tiny and done everything to no avail. 50 times + is a little insane to watch ads and get no compensation.

Carl was actually JUST released on Android 2 days ago. If you did message TinyCo over the weekend, they just got back in the office today to start going through weekend messages. So allow them enough time to first get to your message, look into it, and see what they can find. 😉

I’ve had Carl since I’ve had Stan. Tiny only advice was to uninstall and reinstall. Nothing freaking works.

That’s odd as he just hit android with the update. Uninstall/reinstall from app market would’ve been mine too to make sure the file you have isn’t corrupted. I’d actually go as far as clear cache/data, uninstall, restart device, reinstall, then relaunch the app and sign back in. (Just make sure your account is linked to email or Facebook first)
If still issue, they’re the only next option.

I am having an issue (Andriod). I just got Carl to appear today and anytime I click on him my game just straight blackscreens to the point I have to reboot my tablet everytime. Is this a known issue or is my tablet just that bad?

I’m using an iPhone 4 and this getting clams for watching videos thing has only worked once and I’ve tried it seriously like 50 times, it says there is a video, takes ages loading and then returns to Carl and says there are no videos or it plays the video and I get no clams is anyone else having this issue? More importantly my game isn’t opening at the moment at all, loading bar gets to the end and nothing happens, just stays like that and the game will not open, anyone else experiencing this?? Cheers.

Sounds like you may want to also look into signal issues if the game is stalling out. WiFi is always best to keep the game running as well as making sure you do not have multiple other apps running in the background at the same time (Like facebook, twitter, etc). Also watch the space. It needs about 2GB alone of storage for the game on my device.

Nope. He is NOT a character. Just a random item. So he will come and go as he pleases. Not always with videos available.

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned, but my Carl videos were cutting out with a couple seconds remaining and returning to the same “Watch for 2 Clams” prompt without a Clam drop. I force-quit the app and rebooted the phone (in my case, iPhone5), then the video worked flawlessly!! I also had the video fail to start a couple times before the reboot, but that cleared up too!
Payin’ it forward to the other addicts.. 🙂

I think there is a case of “they are getting more than me” syndrome. In reality the videos are, watch “video 1”, get 2 clams, wait for next video, watch “video 2”, get 2 clams, etc. etc. etc. Once you watch, you progress through the archive of videos. People with issues not seeing Carl or errors will just start later than others. No one will be given more oppertunities than any other person. Tiny co will get to the issue as fast as they can. Hi, I just had a question about the free clams tipic, if we android users get screwed out of this while your team fixes this shouldn’t we android users receive something in return like a extra 20 clams as a sorry for not having this problem taken care if here are some clams for being patient because we android user’s have lost a lot if time and opportunities to earn these clams don’t you think that would be fair?

This is something FREE. Not a required character, not anything needed. You didn’t pay for it or have to buy it. Not to mention he is random. That means he will come and go as he pleases. Could be days or a week before he is seen again. Even then, the videos are limited. Once all watched…can’t view anymore until more are available. So it is not like it is spitting out a ton of Clams.
You will get your chance when it is ready. Even iOS users are having problems so it is not like there are millions even getting him and a few not. I think it would be fair if he worked for EVERYONE.
I understand what your mind frame is thinking…but really take a step back and look at it. I am not going to hold it against TinyCo that they again are thinking of their players and trying to offer their players an option to get free Clams. Even if it is just 5. I am not one that looks at a free gift and complains about it. My two cents anyway.

Not really. It is not like this is a regular thing. Once you watch the videos he has…you cant watch anymore til new ones come. So it really is not like you just get them all the time. Not to mention some iOS users are still having issues with it working.

Android users should be compensated 10 to 20 clams depending on how long we have to wait without Carl, I would even be happy with an Android Exclusive character like Klaus Heisler

I’m on iOS & I saw him with the update & got 2 clams. Then each time I’ve tried to click on him in 2 days, it gives me the option to watch videos but then loads for a while & tells me there are no videos at this time. Has this happened to anyone else?

For something that is not a part of standard game play and free? No.
As I’ve stated in other comments. He is just a random item. He won’t show up all the time. The amounts will vary but be very low. Like 1 or 2. And it may be days or week before he returns.
