Hey there Toad Lickers!
We have Rick Astley in our game in both Character and Giant Metal Robot form. Greased Up Deaf Guy is now dancing all around a Vat of Grease. Jasper’s boyfriend Ricardo is hanging out at the Festival Merch Tent waiting for someone to bring him a LOT of Glowsticks, Short Shorts, and Records. Then there are the new aspects of earning items.
With Phase 5 launched into our game and in full swing now, there are some new areas of play that many of you are trying to figure out. One of those areas is the Spooner Stage and all it has to offer.
In this post I will be going over the Basics of the Spooner Stage & the Sideshows.
First things first, in order to see the Sideshows on Spooner Stage you will need to be fully into the Phase 5 content. That means your app updated to the 1.11.5 in your App Market, Deadmau5 in the Hau5 Part 7 completed, Never Gonna Catch Me Part 5 completed, and Attack of the Mecha Astley Phase 5 Main Questline started.
Now on to the Show…
WHERE ARE THE SIDESHOWS?
Over by your Concert Stage in the Event Area in the middle right side of your game you will see the white Spooner Stage Tent. Tap on the Spooner Stage Tent to access the Sideshows.
WHAT WILL I NEED FOR THE SIDESHOWS?
You will need Microphones for the Sideshows. They can be gathered in a few different places (Headliner Mystery Box OR Tricia Takagaga 6hr Task OR Defeat Mecha Astley), but I found your BIGGEST resource of them will be the Attacks on the Mecha Astley. So try to take him down as many times as you can as often as you can.
You will also need specific Characters available to perform the Sideshows, we will take a look at that in a bit more detail as we pull apart the Sideshows individually below.
HOW DO I KNOW HOW MANY MICROPHONES I HAVE?
You will first have to tap on the Spooner Stage to open it. Then tap “CONFIRM” on either the Rock Show or Pop Show option. It does not matter. Once in either show, it will tell you in the top Right Corner YOUR count of Microphones. “You have…”
HOW DO I SELECT A SIDESHOW?
Once you tap on the Spooner Stage, you will see two Icons in the top center of the Pop Up.
The one Highlighted in Orange is the one you are currently selecting. The other will be in Blue. Swipe to the right or left to change to the opposite show.

Once you’ve highlighted the one you want, then just tap on “CONFIRM” to select that Sideshow.
HOW DO I SELECT A CHARACTER?
No matter which Sideshow you pick, once you tap on that “CONFIRM” and are brought into the Sideshow Screen take a look to the Left Side of the Sideshow Screen. The Characters that the Sideshow can use will be listed there. Scroll Up and Down to see them all.
Find the Character in Full Color, they are currently available to use. Tap on them to put a Check Mark next to them and bring them to the Center Stage in the Pop Up.
HOW DO I KNOW WHO IS AVAILABLE?
If they are in Full Color, they are available to use. Tap on them to put them on the Stage.
If they have a Check Mark, they are already on Stage selected and ready to go.
If they are darkened out, they are busy on another task and can’t be used until they are done.
If they have a Lock over them, it means you currently do not have them in your game.

Let’s take a look at each Sideshow individually now.
***ROCK SHOW***
HOW MUCH TIME DOES A ROCK SHOW TAKE?
A Rock Show will take 2hrs to Complete. No matter how many Characters you use or what Characters you use. It will complete in 2hrs. You can see this info on the Main Spooner Stage Pop Up. It will also show again once you are in the Rock Show Screen and start a Show.
The Characters Performing will not be available to do anything else until the full 2hrs are up and you clear the Check Mark on the top of the Spooner Stage.
HOW MANY MICROPHONES DOES A ROCK SHOW TAKE?
You will need to tap “CONFIRM” after selecting the Rock Show option from the Main Spooner Stage Pop Up to see this.
Once inside, you will see “PERFORM” with the amount of Microphones required next to it.
As you can see, a Rock Show Requires ONE Microphone.
WHAT CHARACTERS CAN PERFORM A ROCK SHOW?
You can locate this information after selecting “CONFIRM” on a Rock Show in the Main Spooner Stage Pop Up. The Characters will be listed along the Left Side of the Pop Up Screen. You can scroll Up or Down to see them all. As of Phase 5, the list of Characters that can Perform a Rock Show are…

This is where it will vary Player by Player, Game by Game. Each time will differ on what YOU will get in the game. You can see what “Chance of” a Character may give you by tapping on them and placing them on the Stage. The % Meter will then Change higher in the options for the item you will be MOST likely to get.

***POP SHOW***

A Pop Show will take 4hrs to Complete. No matter how many Characters you use or what Characters you use. It will complete in 4hrs. You can see this info on the Main Spooner Stage Pop Up. It will also show again once you are in the Pop Show Screen and start a Show.

So as you can see, you can still pretty much get any item in the Pop Show with just one Character… it just may take more tries with just one.
SIDE NOTE: As you can also see, the Materials will KEEP dropping for Greased Up Deaf Guy even though you have all of them IF you do not go and tap the Check Mark in his bubble over him by the Vat-O-Grease. I intentionally didn’t tap it so I could try Rick a few times to see if he helped dropped them.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET EVERYTHING?
As you clear the Decorations in each Sideshow they will be pulled from the Chance lists. As you get the Materials you need for Rick and Greased Up Deaf Guy AND tap on their Bubble with the item to clear it off… they will also disappear from the list. So you essentially end up with just Glowsticks and Lighters.
GLOWSTICKS
No matter what option you pick, using any of them can really help you boost at least your Glowstick intake. Even sending one Character, like Alice Cooper, can get you more Glowsticks in a shorter time then sending that Character on just a task out of their task list.

Impossible to Get viral hits. Only Get coins or grease. ive cleared about 70 golden robots and only the first one gave me viral hits…What about other players?? Whats the ratio for viral hits/coins/grease drops in yours games?..

When i clear golden robots, i Get coins or tub of grease, no viral hits. I spendt 500 clams trying to Get viral hits, but only got 24. There are 30++ golden robots in my game, but its hard to Get wrenches and When i do ill Get coins… Is this how its suppose to be?

I am so far behind this week. I only have 3 trench coats (one drop) but got tons of lighters. I keep sending all 4 hoping it will drop as it shows the highest chance for coats tho of course also for lighters. 30 clams a coat to buy out? No thank you. Plus how in the world can I get 10k glowsticks for the weekly character unlock (forget his name) plus Rick’s? Is anyone else struggling with trench coats? Any strategies or just plain dumb luck?
It wasn’t nice of them to have such a busy week planned over Labor Day Weekend. I recognize not all are from the US, but come on. I went camping so no service and I’m practically on track with TSTO, but no where even close with FGQFS. I may need to drop 65 donuts to catch up in a couple days if I’m not there and I gladly will in TSTO. How many clams would I need to catch up? Hmmmmm. Sitting on 7 tubs of grease as well. Maybe I can take out a bank loan. Well played TC. Pushing players further away.
Sorry for mild rant – I know it belongs in WTD, but I genuinely want to know how to get more coats to drop. I can’t get past level 2 on the mech ashley without Rick so I’m always sitting waiting an extra 24 hours of down time for it to respawn. It’s insane. I need mech ashley to unlock rick, but I need rick to beat mech ashley. Come on!!!

Try different combos. Seriously. I got them with just Peter. Took a few tries, but I got them. It varies each player. So switch it up if one doesn’t work.

I like these side shows, and it didn’t take too long to get all the prizes I needed, so now I’m just stocking up on Microphones for the next phase, I have just over 100 at the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added Tubs of Grease as a possible prize from a sideshow too.

I’ve been wondering if that was the dog from the district 11 and now I know 😦 I’ve been stuck on that red headed golf player ghost for a month or so now bc I can’t get the last helmet. Wish there was some other character to help with the pop concert. I’ve gotten no hearing aids for GUDG and I’ve been sending Meg non stop other than the few quests she has done and I’d just do the rock concerts then. I’ve managed to keep the Boss this time going, only bc splurged for Trishagaga. I figured since we was getting all this misic free why not but That was hard lol. I knew that would be the only way to get past week 5 however I’m still struggling with the grease tubs not dropping despite the 100 times I’ve killed robots and only have about 20 to show for it. Maybe they will add some people to help with that. I suggested they add wrenches to the side shows like it you do the rock show you had a chance of 2 and the pop a chance of 4 wrencges, seemed fair. At this point any help would be welcomed.

Defeating this Astley robot past level 2 is impossible without Rick Astley unlocked. Could of just left Haley as a glitch but I guess tiny co was losing money. Using Peter to do side concerts to collect jackets means he can’t fight robot Rick. Making it extremely difficult to progress. There..now I feel better

You do realize that you don’t HAVE to use Peter to get Jackets, right? You can use all the other ones instead. So no… I was just showing it is possible with just one to get them.
As to Hayley… it was a glitch. Didn’t even work right. Has nothing to do with Money. 😉

Need 6 more tech coats. been doing this religiously for a week and I only got 2 coat drops? That stopped me from doing anything because I nèd Rick astley . I went from beING super ahead to being super behind.

Does anyone else have a ton of Honey saved up? I have over 60 jars of honey, but am always tied up making Rangers and Mechanics so I hardly make bee keepers.

Ok, now i see that you have a different list of characters available for a pop show vs a rock show.. Somehow I never notices this, and, glossed over it as I read the post, my head was spinning with so much new stuff going on! You can delete or edit both posts if you want.
All I know is that i need microphones for the Spooner stage and just are not getting them fast enough, and will have to await 24 hrs for the Meca Astley to reset because Peter alone cant beat level 3x. (freemium, only have Peter) and, the stage is locked up awaiting Rick Astley. So no concerts and no encores, and no spooner, so I cant get the Trench Coats for Rick. For a music fest there certainly is not a lot of music going on! Finally got New Brian today, so I have another character waiting around to rock!

I feel like I’m missing something, because others are ahead of me. I play every few hours except for sleep, of course. I’ve recently moved to freemium since the mobster event was such a let down. I don’t have Rick unlocked yet, so I don’t have him to help with Mecha Astley. I haven’t played encore concerts in a long time, since I’m behind.
Those of you that have Rick already, have you spent clams on this event?

Still struggling to get trench coat drops 6 down, 6 to go, and I’ve been sending all 4 performers out for the rock concert. (Haven’t even tried the pop concert…) I see that you reported getting cost drops with just Peter. Is this just my bad luck or is the “rare” label accurate in terms of how frequent they drop?
I know you warned about Hayley’s unintended task being taken away, but I was really hoping TinyCo would leave it until the new week. She’s the only reason I was able to get the few mics I did, and I’m still struggling with those costs. Thanks for staying on top of all the game developments to help your fellow players.

Did they stop sending the Greased Up Deaf Guy to our towns? I haven’t seen him in more than 24 hours, and I haven’t placed him yet with the Vat-O-Grease. I was hoping they would keep him running around for tickets until I finally bought him.

The only trigger I know of is placing the Vat. I do not know if there is another one in Phase 5

Need wrenches and glow sticks!!!!! If they expect us to get 70 vats of grease, they’ve gotta give us a better, more constant source of wrenches! I play constantly, and I see no way to collect enought glow sticks to get Ricardo, let alone even get caught up on the phase 4 stuff.

There’s another Phase to come yet, and the chances are that there will be more items added to the Festival Merch Kiosk that require the Lighters, so they will come in handy.

I’m still waiting on whether or not to unlock Ricardo. I have everything but since I already have the hearing aids cleared he won’t be any help with that. I just don’t know what to do!! Any advise?

If he’s no big deal and no help… you can wait til Thursday to see if you need those Glowsticks. I’m not seeing much more yet then just another generic character with tasks and a questline.

Would you recommend stopping the shows if you get all of the hearing aids, coats and lighters for Riccardo until the next update hits? I am guessing new side shows will be added. Have about 20 microphones and will likely kill 5th mecha astley tomorrow. Thanks!

It depends on what you can use from their. Hearing aids will go if you tap GUDG bubble for them when it’s checked. Lighters it seems you always need. And Glowsticks…well … they’re main currency.

Well… Greased Up Deaf Guy is no longer dancing in my game. He is caged! and Bruce now drops wrenches.. that sounds helpful except that he is needed for baskets, so any other character would have been better.. Rapper Brian perhaps??

So with just Peter it is 6 microphones every 56 hours. I am now 1 for 7 with fur coat drops (did one pop concert by mistake). Have used Avril alone, Peter alone, Avirl/Peter/Alice and all four. Can’t get more microphones to do more side concerts because Rick is locked with just fur coats left. Can’t continue/finish main questline because Rick is needed. How in the world does any of this make sense logically to anybody? Programming 101 teaches you about infinite loops.

2 for 8 now. Just sent all 4 on stage with last microphone for 26 hours (22 hours left on level 3 mecha and 4 hour cool down).

I sent all four every time and got the coats after 5 concerts. (4 out of 5 times).
I’m not sure why some people would only use 1 or 2 of the performers. It’s only a 2 hour concert so the characters aren’t tied up for a long time.
In real life if you buy 4 raffle tickets you have a better chance than just buying 1 ticket.

So how does TC go from “We want to only use the characters everyone, even newbies, have” to “Let’s use a character from the most recent district that even people who have been playing since the start of the game might not have”?
It would be one thing if there were lots of choices, but seriously?!?! One of three?!?!? And another one of those three you really need helping attack so you can get the mics to use the stage.
When I only send one char I sometimes get the extra glowsticks or one of the other prizes, but more often than not I just get a single bunch of glowsticks, much less than the 50 or so that you can get based on the right hand side graphics. Sending several at a time has gotten me better results on at least getting bonus glowsticks.
I’m hoping with the next phase they’ll add more people to the second show.

I get you don’t like you may not have them yet, but many others do and I like they are listening and mixing them in there. Better to be used then sit in storage. 😉

I did a Rick Astley concert and no fans appeared at all. Rick was on stage with the countdown. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes… right away. The two I just did they spawned. Also put your town on “Road Mode” and make sure you do not have a hidden patch of road anywhere they may spawn on.

I had this happen with my first Rick concert. It wasn’t until the counter got down to 1:00 before any spawned in my town. Really annoying.

Happened twice with me. First Rick Ashley concert, it took a few seconds before the fans spawned. Just did an encore and it was a full minute before the fans spawned. Getting 120 stars in one minute is pretty much impossible.

That happened to me on the first Rick Astley concert and the encore (fans did not spawn until 1 minute had passed) I reached out to TC the first time and they replied that they should have spawned sooner and gave me 25 clams. I contacted them again after the encore as I wasn’t sure if it was just me and they said that they are currently tracking the issue and will collect information from my game to look into.

Same thing here with female fans not spawing. It did it for the last 3 encores. The first time there was a delay, they appeared about 30 secs after the start, but the last 2 times it took over a minute for the first batch to appear. Of the last 2 tries, the first time a second batch appeared about 8 secs after first ones were cleared with like 1 sec remaining on the timer (I didn’t have time to tap even one). Then the last one, which was just a few mins ago, a second batch didn’t apear .. probs because there was only like 6 secs left after clearing the first batch.

One thing I’ve noticed is the silver robots almost always drop vats of grease. The gold ones are the ones that seem a bit inconsistent.

It is because of the amount of Mechanics you have to use I believe. Similar to a longer timed task is more likely to payout out then a shorter time as it is an “overall” kind of payout. Hope that makes sense.

You would think Gold Scorpions would be sure drops for Grease with you getting them from Mecha Astley.
I cleared 6 Gold Scorpions and only got 1 Vat. 😦

Almost got Ricardo unlocked just need 5 more Lps. I do hope that they lower the vats of grease for GUDG from 70 because that seems a little extreme considering that not every time those robots drop one and there is not many ways to get Wrenches either.

Yes about 50% of the time when clearing robots my game crashes/freezes and I get nothing, but loose my mechanics🔧😫 Iv messaged tiny co 4 or 5 times but there hasn’t been a response.
