Death at the Drive-In 101: Characters That Do “Stuff”

  1. It looks like Death also drops silver cannonballs on a 6hr task.

  4. Is there a max number of Werewolves at any one time, and do the characters stay werewolves until you shoot them with the cannon? I have an idea that might work to free up those material (silver cannonball, garlic, and water balloon) earning characters for a bit. I had a bunch of the werewolf possible characters in storage, as they didn’t appear to have any use in this event. But have now activated them thanks to your list (Consuela, Jake Tucker, Buzz Killington, Kool-Aid Man) so they can be turned into werewolves while my other characters can earn materials for Death and not get turned into werewolves.

  5. I have yet to see Buzz and Carter turn into werewolves. I tried buzz yesterday and he never turned. Carter has been grooming his mustache and reading from telepromter (8 hours for when i go to sleep) for leveling up (he’s currently level 24) and has never turned.

I would also hope that tinyco would put a cap on the number that can be turned at any 1 time as its rough keeping mort, bonnie and joe free for their drops. Finally got Death yesterday and that was a huge relief.

  6. If TinyCo is working on a fix for the werewolves, it would seem a decent solution might be to cap them within a town but also have them switch characters like the latchers did with the buildings. At least if you caught it right, you could collect from some of the “dual-task” characters when they might be free. Plus, characters that don’t drop anything for the event could roam as werewolves all day. I haven’t been able to generate any water balloons in days because every cannonball I get is reserved to turn back Quagmire and Bonnie to collect for scythes for Death. My crafting area sits basically dormant except every six hours when I get cannonballs. Some more popcorn would help get more reels and start clearing the projection booth. The last two items seem a long ways away.

  7. Hi Bunny. Do you know if or when people would stop turning into werewolves? I have not been able to get balloons since this started, because my only balloon makers (Mort and Joe) have been werewolves. I know that you have Bonnie as a balloon maker, but mine does not have that task, and she has been stuck as a wolf herself. When I do earn my 3 cannonballs, I spend them trying to get Glenn, because I need him for the garlic. Because I have so many darn werewolves, I usually end up rescuing a “useless” Cleveland, Kool-Aid Man, or Consuela (infrequently I would get Glenn). So, please if you do not know, can you find out when the transformations stop? Thanks.

  8. Just wondering if I have a glitch. I took some characters out of inventory since you put up the list of who can earn what. However, I was just thinking that if I put them all back into inventory, then there is a better chance of shooting the right werewolf. But the game will not let me put any characters who can earn items into inventory. I don’t want to keep them all out, only those who earn the items I want. Is this supposed to happen?

  9. I think that they should altogether stop the rare, common, etc. I mean if u want people to just take awhile on getting something then put it on a day task. There’s always seem to be a problem with these drops not dropping cuz I really can’t think of a drawback on dropping it and it would make it easier for tinyco and the players. You should tell them this bunny

  10. I can’t spawn any more bats…even after clearing tons of them, the “counts” won’t transform into bats…I don’t think it has anything to do with how many you already have…otherwise you’d be able to generate more as you clear some…reported it already. No response yet

  11. Everyone probably knows this already, but if you want to find a certain character without tapping on each werewolf, you can go to the movie prop shack and tap on the info (i) button under the holy water balloon launcher and it lists all the characters that drop items. Tap on whomever youre looking for and it takes you to them. Just in case someone didnt know, it cuts down on search time. Happy hunting!

I know that, I was just curious if anyone else had to wait so long bc the brimstone only comes from the pumpkin tower and like the blue things from the cat cave it dropped every other time which is standard. I collected 5 times in a row with no brimstone and thats odd in my opinion….just curious if anyone else had this issue or if theirs dropped every other. Just trying to figure out if my game is stuck or ??

  16. Hi Bunny, Love this list you put up, really helped me a lot. I think Bruce can be a werewolf too. I had him working on the watch for Patty and had to free him to finish the task. He hasn’t turned again when he is working on the sandals for Death, yet. Maybe it happened in my game and not others. Just wanted to pass along my findings. Hey, wouldn’t it be great to have a once a day, or so, werewolf slaying Gatlin gun that clears all the turned characters. Thanks for all you do. P.s. love to see you in the game with a bunny outfit on. Hint hint Tiny Co.

    • Yes. I was aware it would. It’s why I noted it in the main rundown post for Phase 2 that it will vary for everyone and for players to note where they are in questline, levels, and game to notice that difference.

  18. I was getting tired of accidentally freeing stewie or consuela when aiming for Joe, Bonnie, Mort or Quagmire, so now I just wait until I have stored 8 cannons, and that way I have a better chance of hitting what I need!

    • You can see who the werewolves are by tapping on them and in the upper left portion of the frame it shows the character name. You can also directly target characters by opening info tabs for drop item actions and selected the name you want. If they are a werewolf the cannon target screen will open with the person you want to unturn preselected.

  20. The only character I have that can be and hasn’t turned into a werewolf is Buzz Killington. I guess he just bores even werewolves to death! On a side note I just unlocked Death and he can do his cannonball task right away, no need to level him up. So keep at him and he can help out, at least a little.

  21. I think they need to realize that the 4 hour tasks of Bonnie, Quagmire, Joe and Mort..all of which are needed for either unlocking Death or generating popcorn are actually 6hr45min, 7hr30min, 8hr15min and unobtainable given you only have the ability to generate 3 cannonballs every 6 hours and those characters are always werewolves. I always have 12 wolves running around my town. We desperately need more balls, faster balls.

  22. Thanks for the tip about Slasher Cat having cannonballs. I’m really struggling to generate enough because I still need 4 scythes to unlock Death (which is why I probably didn’t realize he also drops cannonballs, or he’s not leveled up enough) so I’ve been limited to Herbert, Chris and Peter to generate 3 cannonballs every 6 hours compared to the 8 werewolves constantly roaming my streets at any given time. Since I guess there’s technically 6 characters that drop cannonballs, do you think it’s unlikely we’ll see TinyCo add cannonball tasks for those who are struggling to unlock Death or missed Slasher Cat? Thanks again!

  23. Is there any advantage in pulling characters out of inventory to allow them to be turned into werewolves so characters that are needed can be spared? I haven’t seen a limit on werewolves and they seem to happen as quickly as I turn them back.

so for example I put a section of road to the left of my event area with the normal quahog buildings and a section to the right with the event stuff for a start. Better are very large, maybe 5 or 6 road pieces. When the characters I don’t need like Jake, consuela etc are not werewolves, I pick them up and put them on the event area road. Don’t put them on an inside task because of they head off to a building for it they just go to the nearest road when they turn. My normal werewolves like quagmire,Joe, bonnie are using the normal quahog buildings so they automatically exit into the nearby quahog road section. Hope that makes sense.

      • Thanks Bunny. I think I will refrain. It will be that many more cannonballs I will need to generate that I can’t. If there was a limit so the characters that don’t provide any kind of yield could take the place of characters that are needed for the event, it might make more sense.

    • I constantly have 15 out of 16 possible people as a werewolf (i don’t have Buzz Killington) in my game. As soon as I clear one person (usually Quagmire, Bonnie, Joe or Mort), they instantly turn back into a werewolf. I just can’t keep up.

  26. Annoying fact I’ve discovered: the formula that allows continual failures of epic/rare/etc… drops to finally drop gets reset if that character gets tasked by the game to do something else. They’ve coded it so that when you interrupt the game (ie: by shooting the werewolf with a silver bullet or by clearing away Slasher Cat with Peter) they replace the character with all fresh parameters other than time on current quest.
I’ve concluded this as I have yet to see a single scythe since phase 2 started.

  27. I can’t progress in the game because everybody outside of Peter, Herbert, Chris and Jerome are werewolves. I still haven’t unlocked Death, haven’t started on Patty, and can’t spare who I do have free to get Balloons to take out 4 Nuns on one task.

All I can do it Scratchy Cat’s and collect items from the Booth. I’m waiting to unlock Patty until I have the building needed for her and that’s maybe a few days away.

I’m hoping the Werewolf count drops after the weekly Challenge, which I just finished. TinyCo shouldn’t have used everybody that gain a specific item to to turn into a Werewolf. They need to give players at least 1 way out to finish a task, which they’ve failed to do.

One way they can solve this problem is removing the block for storing characters. Players will then be able to store characters like Kool-Aid Man to get Werewolves down to a manageable level. They could also have old Halloween buildings drop Silver Balls. If I was able to cycle through Chequing Silver Balls for 6 hours (7-8 Cannons) this wouldn’t be a problem.

    • PS- TinyCo looks to have fixed the Vampire spawn and Soda pay out problem. After dropping on 9 Bats I got 1 Unicorn and 8 Sodas.

  28. As always, this information is outstanding, helpful and thorough. Unfortunately, any character with dual tasks that can also turn into a werewolf has been rendered completely useless. I love the idea of turning into werewolves and having to turn them back but there just isn’t enough means to turn enough of them back. I have Death, Slasher Cat and Mike Myers to go along with Chris, Peter and Herbert and I can’t generate enough cannonballs to keep my players active. By the time the cannonballs are crafted into cannons, every werewolf has reappeared and I am waiting until after the task-collection time to turn them. Fantastic concept, just needs some tweaking so it doesn’t become a hindrance to the game play which it has been so far. I don’t know how anyone with just Chris, Peter and Herbert is keeping their heads above water.

Not to mentioned the timed character 😩😩 almost have enough reels to unlock slasher cat….maybe that will help some.

So now its even slower to get it done. Not to mention, Im trying to win my weekly prizes and get Nurse Patty in the trunk which both are timed wit outrageous numbers to acquire.

  33. Thanks for this post. I think it is extremely helpful to know which characters produce something for an event so we know who to take out of inventory storage. Otherwise, way too many characters on the roads causing so many problems tapping the screen but we don’t want to miss using a character that suddenly has an item drop associated with them. Appreciate what you do here!

  36. Do you know the people we send to get 3D glasses – do they produce one pair of glasses or more depending on the length of the job? Does Freddy Keruger’s 24 hour job produce the same amount of glasses as Francis’ 4 hour (or Meg’s 2 hr vs. Slutty Cat’s 4hrs)? It seems each job just produces one.

FYI: Under Cannonballs only, you listed Herbert twice.

  37. I’ve started noting down who is doing what task and when it finishes. I forgot Joe was on a twelve hour task overnight and had to un-werewolf him twice to complete it. Am I right in thinking it is a public holiday in the US today?? And there won’t be anyone working at tiny support?

  38. Definitely need more options for silver cannonballs with less time. 6 hours is too long considering the limited characters who can spawn them.
As a side note I sent a message to Tinyco voicing my displeasure with the whole werewolf issues that a lot of people have complained about. The more of us who send our concerns directly the more likely they will make changes. For the last time people, ITS NOT BUNNYS FAULT!!

    • As Bunny recommended, I sent them my idea of at least setting cannonballs to drop two at a time and told them about the werewolf-induced bottleneck. Got back a form letter telling me when the garlic launcher would appear in the questline! Methinks they are a tad swamped….

  39. I wish they did it so characters who drop things can’t become wolf men (those are not werewolves there is a difference).

I can only get 2 garlic ar a shot because Quagmire is stuck as a wolf man and every time I try to free him someone else walks into the shot.

  40. Joe didn’t stay de-wolfed long enough for me to collect holy water from him or reassign him to the task. Then his furry wife Bonnie was selected and all purple but somehow Weird Al took the hit. It has not been a good morning so far… 😦

We really do need more reliable and more plentiful sources of silver cannonballs and garlic and holy water that are not wolfable. I don’t think TinyCo actually intended the werewolves in particular to be such a bottleneck. They were proliferated to help people progress, but it seems to be backfiring because of the slow ammunition accumulation rate. Otherwise, it would be great having all those furry beasties there, dispensing soda with wild abandon. Dying of thirst at the moment, metaphorically speaking. Down to 20 popcorns also and no holy water left, the collectors want to stay furry.

I’ll feel better in a few hours when I can get a few garlic bulbs and gas some bats. I got four flocks at once last night! A new personal record! Have no idea how I did it!

      • The cannonball droppers in my game (Peter, Herbert, and Chris) and one garlic dropper (Jerome) haven’t turned werewolf so far. But all my characters who drop holy water (Bonnie, Mort, Joe) and one who drops garlic (Quagmire) are furry beasts who resist being de-furred…so collections of those items are often delayed, meaning that accumulation of reels is likewise slowed down to a crawl and progress in the projection booth likewise. The slow cannonball collection rate seems to be at the center of the bottleneck. If we had more ammunition to clear the werewolves, their little quirks like converting back before we can collect their drops or retail them or an occasional misfire wouldn’t be such a big problem. If we could get more cannonballs faster, that might cure the bottleneck and let us progress at the pace TinyCo actually planned for this event. I don’t think they anticipated this particular problem when they kindly increased the werewolves.

I wish there were a way to tell who is which werewolf, as there are about twice as many werewolves as there are ways to earn cannonballs. so I’ve been sans Joe for days. (And I did spend clams for the silver forge.) For anyone who *hasn’t* taken Stewie and Connie (and Weird Al) out of storage, I strongly advise that you don’t, so you can save your cannonballs for more crucial werewolves.
