Hey there Slashers!
Many times with the New Events I see PANIC. Mostly due to everything is new and no one knows just yet how to get the hang of what is going on. Well, just as usual, here to help in anyway I can with some Basic 101 and detailed breakdown of HOW TO on the aspects of the Game Play.
For this post, I will be diving into what I am seeing in MY Game when it comes to those Concession Stand Exchanges.
For Many of you, I am getting frustration back that I CAN’T give you an exact answer on the Exchange Rate in the Concessions Stand. There is a very good reason why… THERE IS NO EXACT!!! SERIOUSLY!!
I am writing this post so you can see first hand what I am personally dealing with in the Exchange Options so you will know when I say “it depends on YOUR Game and every Player varies”. That is EXACTLY how it is.
Let’s take a look…
CONCESSION PAYOUTS
I started out Phase 3 with one option and ONE option only in MY Concession Stand to Exchange.
- Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels
That was it for me. Nothing more. Though I did have some Popcorn and Sodas, they were very small amounts. 25
Popcorn & 33
Sodas. So I kept on playing along. Started into the New Main Questline and took out some Swirling Ghosts & Headless Horsemen… along with more Unholy Nuns, Vampire Bats, and Werewolves.
I was still in Level 12 and had 40
Popcorn, 36
Soda, and 16
Chocolate Bars. I went to my Concession Stand and now New Payouts were there.

- Scream Level 12: 8
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 30
Popcorns for 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 25
Sodas for 10
Movie Reels
I used the 30 Popcorn option and as soon as I did, the option went away and only the 2 remained. I only had 10 Popcorn so makes sense it left. So I used the Soda option, it too went away and I only had 11 Sodas left. Now only the Chocolate Bar option remained, so I used it… and it went away. Another one appeared in it’s place.
- Scream Level 12: 12
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels
I only had 8
Chocolate Bars, so back to collecting more Materials. More various Horrors killed. More Questlines completed. I am now around Death at the Drive In III Part 8, still Level 12. My Material Count is now 35
Popcorns, 35
Sodas, 64
Chocolate Bars… and of course New Options in the Concession Stand.
- Scream Level 12: 8
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 30
Sodas for 10
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars & 25
Sodas for 12
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 45
Popcorn & 27
Sodas for 15
Movie Reels
I used the 8
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels option… and again, changes…
- Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 35
Sodas for 10
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars & 45
Popcorn for 10
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars &
25 Sodas for 12
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 45
Popcorn & 27
Sodas for 15
Movie Reels
As I used more options… more changes…

- Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars for 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 45
Popcorn 5
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars & 45
Popcorn for 10
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 10
Chocolate Bars & 25
Sodas for 12
Movie Reels - Scream Level 12: 45
Popcorn & 27
Sodas for 15
Movie Reels
The most unusual option I have seen so far was…
- Scream Level 12: 12
Chocolate Bars & 25
Sodas & 45
Popcorn for 25
Movie Reels (it said 15 below but 25 above and paid 25 Reels)
As you can see, when I say “It varies by Player and YOUR game”… I could not explain it any better. That’s pretty dead on in fact. In short, pay attention to YOUR payouts and try to use the best options provided that are there for you to use your Materials & get the most Movie Reels you can. Keep in mind MORE options will come around. They will keep changing. It seems to surround the Materials and amounts YOU gather and then use up.
There you have it. An actual view of the “variable” payouts that many Players are seeing and experiencing as you all go through the Death at the Drive In Event …. courtesy of MY Personal Experience.
What kind of options do you see? Noticing the same kind of fluctuations? Make more sense now when I say “variable” and “depends on YOUR Game”? Let us know.
~Bunny

Same situation as Jacob. Level 8. 95 popcorn just sitting there not able to be used. Only drinks (for now). Can’t wait until more options get turned on. STILL trying to unlock Death (hopefully today). Having some many characters turn into werewolves is slowing that down significantly — plus I’m trying to raise up my first ghost (Paddy). Have a great Sunday! 🙂

For scream level 14 the only concession stand exchange is 15 chocolate bars for 5 film reels. I have had this ever since I entered scream level 14. I have tons of popcorn and soda with no option to use them except for chocolate which can’t be accumulated from one horseman and only receive 5 film reels for my efforts! It is frustrating and taking a long time to collect the reels😕. I’m at this level because I purchased characters along the way and completing their quest lines. I’ve also purchased all premium items that give out popcorn, soda and chocolate bars.

How many chocolate bars at a time do you have? I let them collect. It seems when the Materials hit certain amount, the options increase.

I didn’t consider that, I’ve been exchanging right away. I will let them accumulate and see if it makes a difference. Thank you!

I did too… then I used some chocolates… and BAM… more options came back

I’m in the same situation as Pixlax. The only option now for reels is 15 chocolate bars for 5 reels. I have well over 100 popcorn and sodas and I’ve saved up over 30 chocolate bars and no other option gets triggered.
It seems like it’s “punishment” for advancing too quickly. 😉

I guess if you get something from page 3 on the concession stand that it automatically expires the high school skin on page 2? Mine is listed as expired now. So I don’t know if there was a 24 hour timer or not after i got sb lois (which I just got). Still not on phase 3 in the game, but I am able to get the stuff out of the stand. Can’t wait to move forward so i can spend those chocolates I’ve been saving.

It hit when Phase 3 did that it triggered the time. It’s noted at top of rundown post

I’m still working on Patty and need to get around 40 reels a day to have Slasher Lois in time and to do her actions. I am also on on scream level 7. Should I stay in week 2 to earn reels easier or level up?
The current rate is 30 sodas for 10 reels.

In my opinion… week 3 seems easier but you still need Lois to fully be in Week 3. You must finish the questline to Part 9

The exchange rate variable is annoying me to say the least. Thank you guys for your help on posting your rates, but it feels like it changes every 5 minutes for me. It’s a bit hard to prep what I should be making for those characters that can make either item. It’s also annoying when the exchange rate goes from 30/20 to 115/35 in the matter of minutes. I’m sure there’s an algorithm at work, but when I’m still on phase 2, no slasher lois, no meg’s friend, I’m finding this event more frustrating than Star Trek.

Keep going. Phase 3 seems to be a bit more easier to get Reels. Even with changing amounts.

I’m only on level 8. The popcorn no longer is used. Only sodas. I have tons of popcorn but it is only asking for 30 to make 10 soda to reel conversion. Still trying to get Slasher Lois. I’m playing all day even into the night and not getting very far it seems. I lost out on the prom school because it started the timer when I was only at the pumpkin pyramid. Not ranting, I’m concerned. Even when I didn’t buy any premium items I got much further in all the past events. This is making me very sad. I love the game but very frustrated right now. I want to be in the 3 movie but I guess you have to craft ALL the items in the previous first.
Sorry for going on, but I’m desperate!

I’m with you. I’m level 8 have well over 300 popcorn, play constantly but only option I have is to trade sodas but I can’t get sodas. I’ve never been this far behind and I play at work, middle of the night, etc. This is the first time ever I’ve considered just Uninstall. I’m a free player and it seems like it’s getting worse and worse for us.

The timer for school skin started when they did update regardless of what prize you had. Besides, is a skin worth 300 reels when you need them for Lois to update & for update prizes. I started week 2 with 185 reels and I play all day & night, got all clam buildings & can have 12 weapons and I’m struggling to get enough reels. I’ve spent a lot of money but I still couldn’t get school skin & definitely won’t be getting this week’s final prize for 500 reels. Don’t stress about building skins. Just get what you need to update each week. I only learned last week you don’t need everything.

I am almost at level 14 now, should I be worried? I have already put the majority of items / decorations which can level you up in my inventory days ago.
Also, they seem to keep on rising the amount needed for the final item on each page (the skin). Last time it was 300 – which I believe most people would not have been able to accomplish and now 500 this time (according to your phase 3 update Bunny, as I can not see it listed in the game). I know it is meant to be a challenge but it seems to be actually verging more on impossible, as I have read many other people’s comments. Do they want the majority of people to just pay for it? I don’t really see the point for there to be such a huge amount needed. I am thankful however that the skins which can be obtained for 3D glasses (the hospital, Joe’s house) are a more reasonable amount, I hope that does not change.

I am almost there too. I have no worries. It seems the only thing in past impacted, the Reels, are pretty much the same for several Levels now. 😉
The Final Items are very clearly stickered “FREAKIN HARD” for a reason. You will have to work to get to it, pay for it, or let it go. I view those items as a “Premium” item. In other words, most Players will most likely have to drop Clams somewhere to get it. Which is normal. Freemiums never will get it all, close, but never all. Premium is what keeps the game going, so they will always be in there.
Just do what YOU can. If it is out of range for you, let the timer go and focus on the rest of the items in there. Phase 3 seems to be going a lot easier for me to get those Reels. Definitely better than Phase 2. I find myself spending less Clams to get them this round.

Premiums may be what keep this game going but it’s #&%# like this that turns premium players (like me)into freemium…or just plain gone (maybe like me soon).
LikeLike
That is the thing as a Premium, when they push… you push back… or in this case, don’t buy. Our buying habits will also dictate the boundaries. I know it is hard to NOT get everything, but even as a Premium… I walk away many times in my regular games on items that just don’t make sense to me. I have been since this game was launched. They have had HUGELY priced items in the game since day one. Since BETA in fact. Just pass on them. No need to get it all. Not at the cost. 😉

Thanks Bunny, you have put my mind at ease about the amounts needed. 🙂
People must have to pay a bit if they want those skins though. I have purchased 2 of each of the characters that give out chocolates, popcorn and sodas (so 6 in total at the moment) and I never even get close to that amount. The cost of clams rose quite a bit in Australia this week (for example, the 3500 clams was $129.99 but is now $159.99), so I can’t give my whole weeks paycheck to get everything. 🙂

Thank you for the post.
I had figured it out for myself, because my game has been a good bit more capricious than yours.
I have had 3 options, for popcorn, soda, and popcorn and soda. When I redeemed the popcorn (5 reels to add to the odd 6 I had) the soda and popcorn option (that I had just enough to redeem) disappeared as well, leaving me with a soda option that was out of my reach till the next cannon harvest. Can’t say I was at all suprised at it….
haven’t even started phase 3 yet, but have been tapping like a maniac same as always.

I’m still collecting reels slowly but maybe that’s because I’m not on phase 3. However that brings me to a quick question, I saw on previous thread people saying about not having slasher Louis yet but that when starting phase 3 it started the timer for school. I wouldn’t be bothered about missing the school, but it won’t let me start phase 3 due to not being on part 9, I can’t get passed part 7 until I create Louis.
Is this right? not sure how others have managed it, I’m on level 8, so that’s not a problem and it let me change the film.
Last time I was behind on the movie projection items I could start phase 2, but this is really going to hold me back 🙂 I’m just collecting for pumpkin pyramid.
Just wondering if it’s correct really??
Thanks very much in advance

There’s no option to buy her outright on mine she is just locked until I get enough reels for pyramid then witch then her, I doubt I’d have enough clams for her anyway.
It’s a shame that it’s holding me back, I’d be about on time if I’d chosen not to get slasher cat, but I spent a lot of time on phase 2 still waiting for him. But at least I could progress otherwise.
This time not so lucky. 😦
As I have like 200 popcorn but options to trade that come up few and far between. Usually have several soda options in between every popcorn option and I’m just waiting each time to collect.
Oh well I’ll just have to be patient lol
Cheers again

I am loving the new reel exchange rates. I’m only exchanging a couple times a day, basically when I have a ton of chocolates, and it’s adding up so quickly. I’m thrilled, really.
It looks like will need 480 reels to get thru this page, not counting the last one obviously. I think right now I’m up to the doghouse if I were buying things as soon as I could, instead of waiting until I have enough for everything.
It’s nice to see your scream levels, Bunny. I had put some Halloween buildings in inventory after seeing how exchange rates hurt so bad after leveling up. But I’m level 8 and getting the same offers in the concession stand as you at level 12. I’m still afraid tho, tinyco did well scaring me for halloween. I’m scared to level up. Should I be?
Thanks for all the help!

I love this new system for reel payouts. Yes, it is a bit random, BUT I am getting a lot more reels. A little hint that is working for me is if I am only down to the chocolate option, I try and get about 45 popcorn and 32 sodas before trading my chocolate only option. Then it usually resets. I can usually get three or four trade-ins worth anywhere from 25-50reels. I hope that makes sense.

And not unreasonable amount either. I think Tiny Co really took everyone’s frustration about not getting enough reels into consideration.

I understand that the rates will change but I’m on scream level 8 and I’m seeing some of the same options as you are on 12. Does that mean the scream level doesn’t have any effect on your exchanges? Early on I was trying to keep my level down so the rates wouldn’t get so high. Hope this means I don’t have to do that anymore.

Not that I am really seeing. I had similar results last phase for a few levels. I am seeing it more impacted by WHAT you have now. That’s why I wanted to put this up. They may increase slightly with Levels, but more changes hit when I earn or use an item.

Bottom line is they change with every purchase. If I have one without a popcorn option, I purchase using sodas only and the next one has a popcorn option. Yes, it is difficult to plan out and you can’t take advantage of “good bargains” as you only get it once and it changes. But it is the game that they are presenting so I muddling through it.

Ever since week 1 I’ve noticed a green chechmark appear on occasion maybe randomly(?) on some of the trade options. I don’t see any on your screenshots above but on each of your pics it would be a big green checkmark right on the “U” in the familyguyaddicts.com watermark. Sometimes it will be on 1 trade option sometimes 2 or 3. What is that indicating?

Usually that is an indication you used something. Like if you look in the Projection Booth at the items you already have, they are checked off. If you send me an exact image when you see it… I can see if that is what you are running into. 😉

Reels have noticeably picked up for me. I thought it would be exponentially harder with the time increases in the Movie Prop Shack and the Visitor Timer but not so much. The key seems to be what you mentioned “use the best options provided”. Don’t use a 10 choco 45 popcorn combo for 10 reels when you can use 35 soda for 10 and get a new payout list where 45 popcorn = 10 reels solo. However I do expect once this happy feeling really sets in that at some point I’ll take a Tinyco machete to the back. Ugh. Spurt spurt

That variable is killing me. I still need the prize before SB Lois and am sitting on a hoard of popcorn that currently useless. The way it’s going I’m hoping by Monday to move on to phase 3 and start on the 1st girl in trunk. I’m behind and I guess that’s fine as After the last couple event issues have decided to vote with my wallet and will not be buying anymore clams. I see this extremely inconsistent concession costs and the ware wolves in quantities of 8-10 taking over players that you need to get rid of them as errors, although not as bad as star treck, on their part. I’m sure if they ever will respond to my in game messages it will be “working as intended”, but then that is poor planning and foresight.

I love resource games like Settlers of Catan and I’ve been analyzing this(just posted on Facebook for anyone who’s interested).
It looks like every time you purchase a single, you raise the price of that single, but the combo remains the same. So at first the singles are better purchases. I just had a single for 30 popcorn for 5 reels and 10 chocolate for 5 reels but a combo for 45 popcorn and 10 chocolate for 10 reels.
Clearly the singles are better there because I’m wasting 15 popcorn on the combo. However, when I purchased the single chocolate, the price changed to 12 chocolate for 5 reels and when I purchased the popcorn the price changed to 45 popcorn for 5 reels.
So now the combo, which remained the same, saves me 2 chocolate. My assumption, which I’ll be able to test in about 30 minutes but it looks like what happened to you above, is that when you buy the combo(which is now better), you reset the system back to the lower single prices.
Example: I bought the chocolate and raised it to 12 and popcorn to 45. When I purchase the combo for popcorn and chocolate, my thinking is the single price for both will revert back to the start which I believe is 8 chocolate for the single and 30 popcorn.
Same for the soda. I have 25 soda for 10 reels. If I purchase it, it will go to 30 soda for 10 reels. My combo is 45 popcorn and 27 soda for 15 reels. The combo is only 27 soda so the combo is better(saves 2 soda). If I purchase the combo my theory is that the price for popcorn and soda will revert back to the start again.
I’m still testing this since it takes time to buy all this stuff but my theory is that if you purchase the singles until the combo is better then purchase the combo, you’ll then get the singles at the discounted rate again. This can be a huge savings over time.
Hope anyone had the patience to read all that =) Anyone else tried to break this down or had similar/different outcomes?

I’m struggling with the fact that there’s no clear way of anticipating what conversions will be available in my game. I haven’t updated to the newest phase yet – still have 91 reels until I can unlock Lois, but my popcorn options have completely vanished in the last 24 hours – I think I have 80, but I’ve only been able to get reels for 30, 32 or 37 sodas since Friday morning.
Anyway, thanks for the insight into what you’re seeing in your game! If it takes the whole weekend to unlock Lois, it may be necessary to get the premium item that drops candy bars just to catch up to where faster players are in terms of Page 3 items.

I’m going with bad. Randomly swapping around which snack can be swapped for reels at any time seems like just one more thing to annoy an already riled up player base when they could have just kept things simple and given us a single popcorn for reels swap in phase 1, then added a single soda for reels swap in phase 2, and so on with each phase adding a new single snack for reels swap while leaving the previous available.

I feel pretty much the way Bunny does, with one tiny exception. One of the reasons I like the randomness, is it adds a little bit of strategy, in figuring out which of the available combinations to choose. I decided to stock up on materials for a while, to give me more choices, so I can usually find some combination that nets me at least 10, and usually 15 at time. This is a much faster reel build than when you could only get 5 at a time, and it was like pulling teeth!

Both. Good in that if you do not have any luck getting a certain Material, you can focus on options of the ones you do. Bad in that you can’t “think ahead” to know just how many of each you need. So there is that.
Overall it seems no matter what is being tossed at me, I am still earning the Reels at a decent rate.

That’s bizarre!! Quick question, do werewolves stop spawning? Have lots of cannon balls and haven’t seen one in almost a day. Do they stop upon hitting phase three?

Slow down… maybe. Gone… definitely not. I now have 8 back wandering my game in Phase 3. Report if you feel there is an issue

Thank you. I did report it because to go from always having 6-8 to none has to be a bug especially considering so many saying how quickly they turn back once freed. That use to be me but no longer.

No… they did slow down. People were screaming they slowed them down. So… they did. They show up now around the time it takes to make a Cannon.

What I asked TinyCo for was a shorter cannonball creation time. It wasn’t the werewolves that bothered me, it was the inability to clear them in a timely fashion. A reduction to 4 hrs for cannon tasks would have been o so nice! There was a time I wished for 2 hours just to keep up. It started getting better for me once Death and Cat were able to help. Just in time for popcorn to be useless? I thought so for a bit, but the popcorn options came back! Whew!

I’m still stuck trying get Lois and I keep getting the soda option anywhere between 25 and 32 for 10 reels, meanwhile I have about 200 popcorn I can’t trade in. Would be nice to have more than one option at a time, so I can finally move on to the next phase.

Yea I saw a change as well. But after I used the popcorn to get 5 reels. It disappeared after 3 tries. Thanks for keeping us posted. You are doing an awesome job!!

oh i’m so glad i read this post… i was freaking out about this earlier. i only have popcorn (like 200 popcorn😳) and soda. i am always running out of soda, probably because everytime i kill vampire bats it gives stuid unicorn stickers instead. so i am only getting sodas from werewolves, which is very slow. sometimes in my stand i can trade popcorn, sometimes soda only and sometimes a combination of the two. i am glad to know it’s supposed to be like that. i can’t wait for patty’s timer to go away so i can get sodas from the vampire bats😏

Thanks for this post. I just messaged support because I’m tired of having the rug pulled out from under me by a change in exchange rates each time I almost have enough reels to get the next item. Such bad game design, I can’t believe they did it this way.

Thanks you for all the look ahead to what to expect. Here’s what I’m seeing at my level.
It seems pretty random this morning. I’m on Level 8, week 2
First thing this morning:
35 popcorn for 10 and 30 soda for 10
cashed on of each then:
32 soda for 10 and no popcorn option
cashed in soda then:
30 soda for 10 and no popcorn option
I still have 85 popcorn and 6 soda.
Still need 55 reels for Lois and 1 Scythe for death
Rushed my last 55 clams to get death to help get more drops and no Scythe, Hopefully by Monday I’ll make it to week 3 and it get easier to progress

Anyone else notice a severe drop off of the werewolf spawn rate? My town was crawling with them, now I have silver balls, giggity, ready and nothing to shoot at.

Indeed it has shown down. Before I had too many, and couldn’t keep up. Now I have too little as I need to get sodas to move forward, but with no werewolfs it is kinda hard to get the sodas.

I have Werewolves still in my town. They may have slowed down (as EVERYONE screamed they do so) but they are still there. 😉

Same here. For the first time I’m glad to have bought the Werewolf Torture Chamber, which I’ve otherwise just had stored away in inventory because I had too many werewolves.
Oh well, at least I’m close now to getting Slasher Bait Lois thanks to those ever changing exchange rates, with just about enough time on Patty’s clock (3 days).

This is sooooo frustrating! I got the option for the popcorn only trade so went all out to get popcorn only for that option to be removed after one trade. I am still stuck on phase 2 with tonnes of popcorn and only an option to trade sodas (35 for 10) and the sodas are taking ages to accumulate. Should have Slasher Lois by tonight but really TinyCo, let’s have some consistency in these things!

I think Tinyco is tinkering around with the payout because last night I was at 30 sodas for 10 reels then I went back later only to have gotten soda and that only from werewolves and Mr. High Fructose and that was it. I went back in and my payout was 27 sodas for 10 reels. I am at Scream level 11 1/2 right now. I also saw an option for 80 popcorn for 5 reels, now mind you I have over 200 popcorn saved up so 80 wasn’t a big deal. I used both options for reels and the popcorn one disappeared BUT the soda one was back at 30 sodas for 10 reels and the popcorn one hasn’t returned yet. Later after turning in 30 more sodas I noticed my soda count was at 32 for 10 reels. After turning in 32 sodas it went back down to 30 and has stayed that way for quite a few hours now. I am looking at 65 reels towards SB Lois and I haven’t even fully gotten into Phase 3 yet. So either there is a bug in the payouts which is most likely due to the patch that they pushed through or they are tinkering with the payouts to see what gets people into the next Phase quicker.

In a similar situation here though I only had popcorn 35 for 5 movierolls. Used once it disappeared, and I only have soda left, but as I only rarely seeing a werewolf I don’t get sodas that often, and therefore it will take me ages to get into the new movie.

They’re not “tinkering” with reel payouts. It’s variable by design as Bunny’s long, detailed post clearly explains.

Hi Bunny. I’m at level 9 on the scream thing, and my trades are at the same amount. At phase 2, still at scream 7 I had the same trades than you at scream 11. I’ve been carefull as hell to maintain the minimum scream legel to have better trade options, but it seems to me that it doesn’t matter anymore

I am lvl 7 and need 35 Popcorns for 5 Reels and 30 Sodas for 10 reels. Five minutes ago I just had the option for 27 sodas for 10 reels. I purchased this option once and then it changed.
