Hey there Slashers!
Many times with the New Events I see PANIC. Mostly due to everything is new and no one knows just yet how to get the hang of what is going on. Well, just as usual, here to help in anyway I can with some Basic 101 and detailed breakdown of HOW TO on the aspects of the Game Play.
For this post, I will be diving into what I am seeing in MY Game when it comes to those Concession Stand Exchanges During Phase 5 of the Event.
Once again we are all questioning the thought process behind the Movie Reels and the Concessions Stand. To help out, again I am writing this post so you can see first hand what I am personally dealing with in the Exchange Options so you will know when I say “it depends on YOUR Game and every Player varies”. That is exactly how it is.
Let’s take a look…
CONCESSION PAYOUTS
I started out Phase 5 with one option and ONE option only in MY Concession Stand to Exchange.
- Scream Level 16: 25
Ice Cream Cones for 20
Movie Reels
That was it for me. Nothing more. So once again I had a surplus of other items I have been earning for exchange but not an option to exchange them… YET!
I say yet due to as soon as I started to turn in my 25 Ice Creams a time or two, all those other options started to appear. It began with me only seeing 3 options on the screen. Then as I cleared one and used up others, more and more and more appeared. To the point I believe I had around 8 different options at one time to pick from. Cleared them all (including the starting Ice Cream Cone one) then more unlocked again.
Just to give you an idea, here are a handful of the many many many variables I saw as I collected Movie Reels in Phase 5.

As you can see, A LOT of options keep on appearing. This is not even close to all the ones I saw file on through. So if you want more options to show, just keep clearing the ones that are already there to see what takes its place.
There you have it. An actual view of the “variable” payouts that many Players are seeing and experiencing as you all go through the Death at the Drive In Event Phase 5…. courtesy of MY Personal Experience. Feel free to share your experience below.
What kind of options do you see? Noticing the same kind of fluctuations? Make more sense now when I say “variable” and “depends on YOUR Game”? How many Movie Reels do you feel you are earning on a daily basis? Let us know.

Wow not cool. I go to turn in some items for reels to unlock death’s mom in the spectacle shoppe and my game switched to the ice cream turn ins. First being only ice cream as a choice. Problem is I have ZERO freemium options to collect even one ice cream. Guess I’m done.

? What do you mean no options? If you just reached Phase 5, there are options. Look at Phase 5 post.

I’m sorry if this was posted somewhere else as I have no clue where to look, but can you tell me what is the best bang for your buck in terms of getting my scream level up? I’m a premium player having trouble keeping up for the first time, and going into the last week I’m not even close to having the ice cream and maniacal pope part started. Thank you!
(I’ve saved tons of sunglasses, and the bloody footprint doesn’t seem like a bad option, but wanted to see if there were better options.)

Do we know if there’s going to be another week of stuff from the projection booth? I already got everything this week including Hook Hand Albert, and I’m continuing to collect reels. But I was just wondering if I should keep doing that.

Magnets are rare? Fun, I’ll just continue to sit and watch my single option for reels go unused as I only have 20 cones from my initial magnet get.
20 cones per 4 magnets, 1 magnet per hour, 25 cones per 20 reels, is 96 reels per day at 100% drop rate and 100% play time.
So they make it rare???
Sure, I didn’t want to see the final week anyway.

I contacted TinyCo in game and requested they double the number of characters to get Magnets. Ruth, Patty and Esther aren’t doing anything, so that’s three characters right there.

Another day and still no new options. Just ice cream and chocolate bars. This is a slower reel exchange than phase 2.
Anybody want to buy 250 sodas? Cheap, only cost a couple of spatulas and an apron.
But wait…there’s more..
Act now and I’ll throw in 150 popcorn and 50 licorice. I apparently have no use for them.

Does event level or the amount of reels you have affect spawn rates? Two days ago I hit level 18 and 900 reels (saving to see what this week brings before getting Albert). Since then Salsher Cat has stopped chasing Lois, vampires have reduced significantly and werewolves stopped altogether. I’ve been sitting on five cannonballs which is impeding my ability to craft items. I contacted support but fear I’ll get the standard spawn rate as intended reply. Appreciate any input or suggestions.

I noticed my Spawns stopped when I finished Phase 5 questline but when I messaged TinyCo they said it was patched so they’ll continue. So make sure your App is on latest version and restart device to make sure it’s in place.

So frustrating. Ever since I started the last phase I’ve had only 1-3 options for reel trade-ins and all of them involved ice cream. I’ve got hundreds of the other items but can’t get ice cream fast enough to pile up the reels. Still think ComicCon event from last year was the best one.

I am sooooo way behind. I don’t understand how it is possible, that so many players are already in the latest phase.
I play freemium since the last few events (veeeerrrryyyy good decision! 🙂 ) , but I play constantly multiple times a day. Every time something is ready, I log in to clear it. Every day, hour by hour….. But I am still only at Scream Level 13 with 68 reels atm waiting to unlock the worlds largest tumbleweed.
I didn’t start ruth yet, as I need the next thing after he tumbleweed to collect stuff for her (I’m scared of the timer… ) . And I need ruth to move on in the questline… That’s weird. 🙂
My stock on materials (baloons, cannon balls, pumpkins) is full (between 70 and 140) and the queue is full all the time. So I’m trying… 😀 Powder cakes are rare, as I only have deaths dog to collect them (and moms house). But they move as quick as hey come in…
So, how is is possible to already be in the latest phase without spending hundreds!! of $€ ??? I cannot understand it . 🙂
Any explainations? Am I doing something wrong here?

I’m still in phase 4 and working to unlock Ruth and playing freemium. I waited until I was well on my way collecting for the mansion in the projection booth before I started Ruth’s timer. I have plenty of materials to make launchers, but besides Death’s Dog and his mom’s house I get gunpowder from Patrick (unlocked from the projection booth). They all drop the barrels every two hours. The bottleneck for the clowns is the long time to make the launchers, but you eventually end up with a good stock of gunpowder since you collect the barrels faster than you can make the launchers. It took a while before I saw the numbers of stockpiled barrels that I see for the other materials, though.
I’m at level 14 but am only at part 6 of the main quest so it will be a while before I can go on to phase 5. (I ignore side quests.) I wanted to finish collecting reels for the mansion before changing the movie anyway since my experience has been that changing to a new movie delays such collections by about a day. I’m working on the 24 hour challenges for Ghostbuster Quagmire and Peter so that will delay me a day in getting through the main quest. But I want the Ghostbuster outfits more than Death’s mom (the only thing I see in phase 5 that I would like to have). So I’m not worried. No need to get through the main quest for phase 5 anyway, since it’s the last phase. Anyway, relax and just keep at it and know you’re no slower than a lot of us!

The ice cream is a problem. The tasks take four hours, and are rare. So it usually takes 8 hours to clear hook hand Albert, and there are only options for trade with ice cream. Usually when I get new options only one of four is without ice cream. I have hundreds of everything else. Why don’t they make it quicker for tasks so we can accumulate magnets? It is so frustrating.

Agree, it’s horrible. I’ve been stuck on a quest for 4-5 days now. I’m stuck on a quest that requires Jerome. Well.. I can’t get Jerome because he’s being chased by a car and I don’t have the Death Mom yet to clear it. I can’t get the Death Mom ’cause I need ice cream. I can’t get ice cream because I need Magnets which are RARE. It’s very troubling! Also sucky – most require 25 ice cream.. and the drop is only 20. So that’s 8-16 hours as you say. Really really holding me back.

I have been doing some calculations based on my concession options and the ones you posted above (I am still on stage 4), and trading in single kinds of treats generally seems to give you the best exchange rate (about 0.14 reels/popcorn, 0.4 reels/soda, 0.5 reels/chocolate, 0.71 reels/licorice, and 1.25 reels/ice cream on average). If any of the “combo” option(s) seem to give you better rates than that, (or if you don’t have any single-treat options available) go for it, but they often look to be significantly worse, even if you are able to receive more reels at one time.
I hope this helps some people get the most reels for their snacks!

I’m not really finding anything close to the same options despite clearing out the ice cream on the first attempt. I get 2 additional (very limited) options after that, nothing more, and little variety. They seem to avoid offering combos for anything that I have a substantial quantity of, which is making progress insanely slow – especially with the ridiculous situation they put us in re: magnets! Everything else is “always” drop, now magents are “rare”??

Don’t really want to lose all the options currently available, so think I’ll hold back on starting phase 5 until I’ve got the Sassy Spectacle Shop in place for Death’s Mom; just need another 70 reels now.
She’s the last prize I care about in this event, so I’m keen to start collecting her stuff, although I can see that more reels will be required if I need the Dungeon of the Basilisk to help unlock her.

I’m currently at the MAX Scream Level (Lvl 20) and after having lots and lots of different trade in options, I’ve reached a point where all the options have stuck at these trades;
25 Ice Cream for 20 Reels
105 Popcorn for 15 Reels
75 Sodas for 30 Reels
60 Chocolate for 30 Reels
7 Licorice for 5 Reels
I’ve got lots of materials and have used all of these trades multiple times, and I’m happy with these options, as I now have 1,777 Film Reels banked just incase they are needed for the next phase.

I have been doing some calculations based on my concession stand options (and looked at yours too) and it seems that regardless of which options come through at a given time, the single treat options generally give the best rate of trade in, around the following numbers: 0.14 reels/popcorn, 0.4 reels/soda, 0.5 reels/chocolate, 0.71 reels/licorice, and 1.25 reels/ice cream (based on your options above, I am not at part 5 yet). If you use those rates for one of the treats in a “combo” you get a worse rate than baseline for the other treat. I hope this helps people get the most reels for their items!

I had the same experience, with only having the option for ice cream cones, and once those get cleared, the other options making an appearance. I decided to wait on collecting them until I had at least 50 or more of each item, then I was able to collect quite a bit, and every time I clear the ice cream only option, more options spawn.

Well, I am stuck at part 5 of the questline as I can’t get enough reels to unlock the store that has Death’s Mom. The only options I am getting are the 25 ice cream cones and the 40 chocolate bars. Right now it’s only the ice cream cones.
Despite having everyone that can get a magnet working on them, I am only getting 8 magnets a day. Rare is definitely the frequency of getting magnets.
This is the lowest rate at getting reels since phase 2.
It is getting really boring, repetitious, drawn out, and annoying. Fun is not an accurate description of anything that has transpired relating to this event.

Is there any secret order in which to pick the options in order to maximize reels? I have yet to have an option that doesn’t include ice cream, and if I happen to pick the ice cream + something else option, then the next time I am back to just the 25 ice cream again. 5 days into this phase, and I have yet to see more than two options at a time available (always 25 ice cream = 20 reels, and then another ice cream + random).

Not really. Just seemed if I clear the main ice cream more options came. Then if I cleared a 30 or 40… another 30 or 40 came. Etc

This is a relief Bunny. I felt as though I was spinning my wheels with plenty of other concessions but real difficulty getting magnets to drop to turn into ice cream. Just put Death’s Mom into my game this morning and am hoping to see more than a few non-ice cream options consistently so I can start working my way through the projection booth. I would like to be able to finish the event, because if the events are structured where people can’t finish them through constant game play, what is the purpose of them? I am fortunate to be able to grab my phone every time I get a notification and collect and reassign to new tasks. So if I can’t finish an event with a tremendous amount of playing, what chance do people who play less than I do have?
I think that gets lost when people clam-rush everything and are looking for more things to do (which is a totally acceptable way to play the game). You can give them 100 tasks each week and they are going to clam-rush through all of them as quickly as you give them to them. People who enjoy the strategy of the game want to look at what’s presented to them and make their decisions accordingly as how they think is best to play it out. Of course, none of this would be even possible without your generosity of time (and clams!).
With a handful of hiccups (which are always expected), I couldn’t be more pleased with the way this event has gone. I just hope the ice cream don’t hold me up from finishing and whatever content comes Thursday/Friday is attainable within a week’s time.

I was the same when this phase opened. Only three choices in, it seemed, like forever. Now I have a buttload of choices all the time. Buying a second Sour Milk helped accumulate the ice creams, too; a second robot helped on the magnets.

Thanks for the insight. I just started the most recent phase (with the ice cream cones) mid-afternoon yesterday. Since I’m not getting consistent magnet drops from the Pet Costume building, it’s been taking 8 hours to get 4 magnets. By the time I had enough ice cream cones to clear that first exchange option (25 cones for 20 reels), I was given 3 new options – 25 cones OR I think 40 chocolate bars OR 5 cones and sodas, I think. I cleared the new exchange options, but nothing populated in their place. So, I’m back to waiting for magnets to get cones. A bit frustrating, since I do feel significantly behind (working on Death’s Mom’s House), but it’s comforting to know that more options should be on the horizon.

I was already a day or two behind, I started the phase by accident without cashing in existing resources, getting the first requirement took another day as you needed 8 magnets.
Every subsequent concession has given me one option to spend resources and two that need ice creams, which takes another day to clear. Still haven’t earned enough for Death’s Mom’s House, feels as bad as the Werewolves phase.

Still ahead of me. I got the spider at least, but now I’m stuck on needing just ice cream. Which is fine since I’m still able to collect other materials, just wish I wasn’t behind.

I am in the same situation. I currently have 5 cones and I need twenty five for one option and fifteen for the other. I still need 45 reels for the house. It looks like it will be another twenty four hours before I could possibly get it without spending clams. This is getting to the no longer fun to play.

I’m about a week behind. I currently have options to trade in 5 licorice for 5 movie reels, 100+ popcorn for 15, 75 sodas for 30, and 60/80 chocolate bars for 30. It takes about 24 hours to get enough reels to get one item from the shop. I’m working on getting Death’s Mom.
For each event, starting back with the Star Trek one, I have felt a definitive imbalance in the game with each weekly task list. It’s not fun feeling behind, but I won’t be spending money to get clams to “catch up” because that would be less fun. 🙂

I was having the same issue. 2 werewolves a day basically. And I really needed sodas. So I messaged Tiny Co and they wrote me back saying more Werewolves were coming…. To my surprise, they did! Ever since I messaged them I’ve had plenty of Werewolves. But not TOO many like in phase 2. A nice balance.
