It is time for the Football Challenge Event to wind down and say Goodbye. With the Event coming to a close, there are some items I wanted to touch on before Tomorrow, February 11th @3PM Pacific.
WHEN DOES THE EVENT END?
TOMORROW, Thursday February 11th @3PM Pacific. And YES, there are very prompt on this shut down. If you have not noticed already, there is an Update in the App Markets (Version 1.18.0) already prepped and loaded. I assume this is to make the transition easier to what is coming next as well.
I would suggest to ensure you are on the latest App Market Version of the game. No, loading it will NOT stop the Event BEFORE 3PM Pacific. I already have it loaded on all my devices since last night.
WILL I LOSE MY CHARACTERS?
Any Character/Costume that you have completely earned all the Materials for and Unlocked, that is now wandering your game… is yours to keep. (I know the issue with Bonnie, see below).
Any Character/Costume you do NOT have all the Materials for and is NOT unlocked and wandering your game will go when the Event does. Remember that those in front of Buildings (like Gronkowski) have to be completely earned. You will not be able to continue getting Event items beyond an Event. If they are still in front of the Building, they are not complete.
This means you will need to make the decision, is it REALLY worth it to you to spend Clams to get these Characters into your game? 3 months from now will you be happy you did? Otherwise just let them go.
CHEERLEADER BONNIE/TOUCHDOWN JESUS ISSUES
We have seen reports from Players that are unable to complete the Costume builds of these two Characters Costume (though Touchdown Jesus was only 2 reports to date). TinyCo is aware of the issue and hopefully will get the resolution out prior to Event End. If we hear anything more in the meantime, we will update this post. Otherwise sit tight and report it from your game is all you can really do right now.
SUPERFAN KEEAN???!!
Many of you saw this random Walking NPC hit your games a few days back for a small 
150 Cost. Now many of you wonder just who on earth is this Character?
This is the basics of it… Make-a-Wish UK, Family Guy, and TinyCo worked together to make a Fans wish come true. He made a wish to be a part of Family Guy, and TinyCo made it happen. Pretty freakin awesome if you ask me. 🙂
BUILDINGS/DECORATIONS
Any item that you purchased during the Event is yours to keep. Any items you did not, will go when the Event Ends. So if you REALLY want an army of Owls and Wizards Statues, go for it. Lol.
QUESTLINES
I did not bother too much with the final Questline as it was not necessary to end the Event. I am waiting on one more Referee spawn to pass where I am (part 23) and will post it when I complete it (24 parts total).
The Side Questlines that pop up AFTER a Character/Costume is unlocked and live in your game are available AFTER the Event ends, so you can finish those up anytime. Otherwise all the Questlines linked directly to the Event, like the Main one, will go when the Event Ends.
ANOTHER MYSTERY BOX?
No indication what so ever as of time of this post that there will be any kind of Coin/Material Mystery Box before the Event Ends. If that changes, we will post about it.
MATERIAL DROPS?
You all by now have seen the changes in drops really increasing. There are more dropping from the Football Field and more Characters helping with additional Tasks added to the lists. This game is ever changing, so double check each day to see if something new is now helping you in the game.

TECHNICAL ISSUES
Yes I know they hit the game and can be frustrating, just know we do all we can to watch for these issues and pass them on so support can get to work on them ASAP. Help us help you. If you have an issue, lets us know EXACTLY what you are seeing like the exact wording in the error message you are seeing (provide a screenshot if possible) or tell us the description of the issue. Makes it easy to pass those STATS right on to Tech Support. We know it can be upsetting when you have an issue, but we really can’t pass on “they are yelling and screaming” as an issue… nor “it won’t work”. 😉
Need to vent on an issue? Feel free to go off on What The Deuce posts. It helps us keep the focus of all the other posts where they need to be.
Just know I always have a watchful eye out for issues, even if I can’t respond right away in the comments. If I see trends hitting, I report them. If I feel there is an error that needs correcting, I address it with them constructively and offer a solution based on my thoughts, stats, and information provided. Again, here to help for the betterment of ALL Players. I am playing too. Always feel free to offer the same yourself via the in game message system.
TINYCO GAME MECHANICS
I wanted to brush over this briefly. Keep in mind these are MY thoughts. Take them as you will. Just know that I speak from personal experience as from what I have seen in all walks of life from companies worldwide (not just game houses).
If you are not aware by now, let me enlighten you a bit. TinyCo uses a method for this game I have seen used by several other Game Houses. They are not the first, I doubt they will be the last. It is what I like to call the “Step” or “Phase” Method. Now for some Players, they do not mind this process. However for others this can drive you crazy. Honestly it is something you will have to get used to for this game or you may find yourself a not so happy a Player… and if that is the case, you may want to seek another game that is more enjoyable to you.
What is the Step/Phase Method? Basically it means that the game is VERY unpredictable. Items change, progress, are added, are removed, increased, etc… ALL THE TIME. Events are released in Phases. Most items have some Steps you must complete. It can be frustrating and infuriating as you are not able to calculate mathematically what is going to be an end result and you can’t predict the future… not even tomorrow… or a few hours from now. What does this do for the Company? It allows them to be able to control the flow/pace of their game. (I see too many times Players complain that they are done too fast, finish too soon, too bored. This complaint in Gamers spawned this method.) There is also money, they are companies after all and do need to pay their bills and earn a living. By using the Step/Phase Method, a Player is now at the mercy of the Game House of how fast or slow they can move, how often new content is released, and it allows them to keep the game constantly new and fresh. It also can spark “Panic” at times in Players, but don’t give in. What does this Method do for a Player? Makes the game always a challenge (this will never really be a “simple” game, never has been). You will always be surprised. Changes are around every corner. It may just drive you mad if you are not used to it or can’t/don’t want to adapt to it.
In short, as I see so many frustrations on this one… try not to focus on the “Math” of the game. It is impossible and will never ever ever ever ever ever ever give you the results you want. It can’t. You will never know what is coming next, so trying to calculate the end result when you only have 3 pieces to the 100 piece puzzle… it just ain’t gonna happen. You’ll just get a headache because you can’t add up the actual total with parts still missing/not released. Impossible.
All I can suggest is play the game and see where it takes you. You may not get everything, you may get it all… it really will depend on chance, luck, and effort you put into the game. Never ever feel like you HAVE to spend money, that is always a bad thing. Don’t give into that panic thought as it is just that… panic. Spend only if you WANT to and it brings you joy. If this kind of gaming style is NOT for you and just makes you unhappy… step away. (No need to burn down the helpful site on your way out either.) Give the game some space and see if coming back with fresh eyes after a bit rejuvenates your care for it. Try playing with a different mentality towards the game. No one is forcing you to play, it is your choice… so keep it as that and make the choices YOU want. If you are not happy with the game, then find something else that makes you happy. In the end, that is what a game is for… to make YOU happy, right?
That is all I will say on this. Not further discussion on it needed on this post or in the comments. I will open another post in the future on this topic so we can have more of an open discussion and constructive conversation, but just wanted to put it out there instead of repeating it in the comments.
There you have it. Some Basics to answer a bit of Questions and some, hopefully, helpful advice to those struggling. Just remember we are here to HELP. This is a HELPFUL site. Always has been, always will be. No reason to turn it into a door mat for everyone to wipe their feet on. Help and support each other. Offer tips and suggestions that helped you succeed and that others may benefit from. Be constructive and Help bring changes. Be a part of the Community, not part of a “pitchfork and torch committee”. Once you reach District 5-6, you can start to store Characters. Including Walking Decorations. Just tap on him and his name along with a REALLY REALLY small inventory blue icon will show up at the end of the name. If you see it, tap it and it will store him. If you do not, you are not far enough in the Districts to have the feature.

A few things I would have liked to have seen first since there was the issue with the game crashing after getting your first TD, it would have been nice if they would have extended the event 2 days, as that situation really slowed progress in the event, and I would have liked to have seen more NFL players available, I think Barry Sanders, Joe Montanna, and Jerry Rice would have made a lot of people open their wallets, also since there are 32 NFL teams, would have been nice if they could have had 1 player (current or retired) from each team, that way all players could have grabbed a player from the team they root for.
Other then that I really hope Tinyco sticks to the 1 week for short events, and 3 weeks for long events,, even though this was considered a “Major” event,, it did not seem overly grinding like those 5 week events, had more of a laid back feel (like a happy medium) between a short and long event.
Overall good event, but being a HUGE VIKINGS FAN, was disappointed in not being able to get any of the Vikings Greats, like Adrian Peterson or Fran Tarkenton.

For the first time since the start of the game I set this quest line out. Football is just not my ting, now if they ever do a bad all story that’s another thing all together! Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved the skins for the main characters but I really, really dislike football and I really needed a break from the game. I have spent the last few ekes doing the longest tasks on all the characters that I had not maxed out XP with and was able to finished leveling up a lot of them as well as getting all the newest from Christmas at least up to level 10. After th little break in th quest line I am looking forward to the next event to start!

I think even if it had been extended another day I still wouldn’t get Silly Nanny and I was on the tasks all the time. Didn’t help that the “always” drops didn’t drop “always” but it is what it is!

Very touching to know that TinyCo was involved in a Make-a-Wish. BUT, does Keean know that a lot of freemium players probably never got to see him in game? Although it was a noble idea that TinyCo added him into the game, the only way I even knew about this was because of the Addicts blog. I never got past Game 5 in the event and therefore never had Keean show up in my game. Bunny if you do an end of event poll I would suggest a query to see if players were able to get Keean in their game.

I had to spend about 425 clams to complete everything up to touchdown jesus… im starting to get disappointed that this game has become all about clams even for players who spent 100s of dollars ..

Just some info on how to decrease the amount of clams needed for anyone who is thinking of spending clams on touchdown Jesus. First, if you speed up game 7 it’s 7.35 clams per shoulder pad. It costs 12 clams to speed up Peter’s task to only get 1 shoulder pad so that isn’t really worth it. However, spending clams to finish game 7 does not decrease your inventory of shoulder pads or footballs. I was able to get 10 shoulder pads by speeding up first down tasks which only cost me 44 clams, spent 52 clams on the scoreboard to complete game 7, and still had 10 shoulder pads in my inventory. Game 8 was then only 69 clams for a total of 165 clams spent. Hope this helps people save some clams.

That’s great advice. I should’ve followed it, dangit! I didn’t see it until after I went ahead and rushed both games without any shoulder pads. It was 125 and 131 to rush the games, because I already had the footballs.

Just got a quick question, I know I’m not going to get Touchdown Jesus without spending clams, but I’m on Game 8 and I’m trying to get as many Shoulder Pads as I can to get the clam cost down, but do I’m not sure if the outfit has to be completed before the event ends, as in if the 2hr build timer on it needs to have finished, or if it’s a case of as long as I’ve beat Game 8, have claimed the outfit and have it in Al Harringtons then that will count as me having unlocked him?

I just asked TC if I unlocked Peter’s new Silly Nanny outfit and it’s crafting in Al’s and the event ends BEFORE it finishes crafting, will I still get to complete the costume and ‘earn’ it since I gathered all the required materials and started it crafting and Peter from their support team said, ‘No, it must be completed in Al’s and fully unlocked/claimed before the event ends if you want to keep it.’ This seems REALLY disconcerting and pretty lame considering all the hard work and time I put into earning this likely useless outfit. 😥

At 4:50 Est, I just unlocked silly nanny peter so he won’t be complete until 6:50 est which is past the end of the event.
If I was to try and rush the costume build, it is still asking for 750 clams. Hopefully I still get him.

It turned out I didn’t need to craft the outfit anyway, I got it down to around 42 clams soi rushed it and claimed him, then when I went into Al Harringtons it showed the outfit as locked and said I needed to unlock Jesus to craft the outfit, my first thought was not to panic and to try and force close the game and start it up again to see if that helped, as soon as the game loaded back up Jesus was walking around in the outfit, the questline triggered, and it was checked off in Al’s. Now just waiting to see what’s coming next after the event. 🙂

I hope your contact is right, Bunny. I managed to bring my cost to finish SN Peter down to just 16 clams (by speeding the crafting of the Eye Lasers I needed.) But it’s not after 3pm and I’ve still got nearly 2 hours left on the costume creation.

Jesus only had a 1 second build in my game, maybe others could confirm they got the same.

Hi, great and informative post. I’ve been playing since day one, spent clams on this event, but major glitches (constant crashing) and non release of items (like building Bonnie) made it impossible to progress in the event. A real bummer. It seems like every event they don’t plan well and often release a new way to get items or extend the game, or like here, they don’t. Sadly thinking of stopping the game. I’ll still come here for the fun posts, but otherwise, this may be farewell to the quest for stuff for me. It’s just not a fun game anymore or fair in my view. 😦

Are other droid users locked out? It’s forcing me to upgrade but there is nothing in Google Play.

Having a serious Google play issue. When I search for family guy I see a button for upgrade, but it tells me it can’t install, the game is already installed.
Sure enough, I’m on 1.17.5 and the version I see even after uninstalling and restating phone is 1.17.5.
My iPod is on 1.18.0.

I have enough footballs to get Touchdown Jesus, but I haven’t gotten any shoulder pads yet. It says it will be 125 Clams to finish game 7. Anyone know how many clams it would take to finish game 8, with enough footballs and no shoulder pads? I want to make sure I have enough clams to finish both games, I have 278 at the moment, otherwise it makes no sense to do game 7.
I really want Touchdown Jesus, but this event has made me so mad, I refuse to purchase clams for it. So either I get it for what I have or I don’t get it and am one step closer to closing the door on the game for good.

Does anyone who has the Jesus skin know the mechanicals for it? Is it just doubling the output of the 24-hour task? So four clams when it pays out instead of two? And does anyone know the full price of a clam rush for Game Eight? Game Seven is 125 for 17. Contemplating spending the clams to rush both games to get the skin. Thanks very much!

It was 125 for Game 7 and 131 for Game 8 if you have five footballs banked (I did). Of course I forgot that now I have the problem where they are asking me to unlock Jesus even though he is in my game turning water into clams right now as we speak. I sent an in-game message with pictures.

Should it list 4 on his task? My normal Jesus had only ever listed one and the new one only lists a chance to win two clams.

The 1 clam icon pops out but awards +2. Even if it changes, Touchdown will still give 2X whatever Jesus pays. So 1 & 2, 2 & 4, etc.

I’ll be happy to see this event end; I don’t follow sports in my own country, let alone in the USA, and I have NO idea who any of the guest characters are, so have not been all that bothered with playing the quests. Roll-on the next (hopefully non-sport based) event.

While I did like the concept of the implementation stage 1 put me behind with the grease paint – I guess that will teach me to unlock a character that might be beneficial first.
Energy drink also took a while to grind away at too, ended up paying up some bonus clams to get bonnie in hope of evaluating my stage 3 options, but no chance to get football peter or Jesus which would have been cool for clams…

Finally opened the week three content on Tuesday morning and since there was absolutely no shot at even getting Peter’s skin based on the math that existed (or anything else), I am enjoying a few days off before the Valentine’s Day mini-event that starts Thursday. This has been my favorite event by far, but one of my worst results. It is so weird to have that be true.

Firstly I want to thank you for all your help. I don’t know what I would do without this site!
I was wondering if you could perform a poll once the event is over, not for any reason other than I am interested in the results. I find it insightful to know where other players got to in the event vs myself.
I am a semi-premium player and play at least 6-7 times a day. With the event so far I only managed to get to game 6, and spent 560 clams. I am not bothered that I will not finish and unlock Jesus but just interested to know if any freemium players have gone further than me and how they achieved it, I would love to hear their strategy. It would be great if there was a post we could go to, to discuss these things and share amongst each other.
Also a big shout out the Family Guy/Tiny co for Superfan Keean.

I’m in game 6 without spending any clams. I’ll get another touchdown soon, then just need one more to win Game 6 and get Bonnie. Hope I make it, there’s less than 24 hours left.
I just focus on the main quest so I can get to the next parts, and ignore side quests. Then just check in to reset as often as I can. In this event, have to remember to always check the field requirements before collecting anything, since often the requirements can be met by tasks completed but not collected from. I don’t collect other materials until I’m out of things to do on the field. Some things I don’t collect until asked, like twerking Bonnie, since she has no useful materials to drop. I just keep her twerking for field requirements. Also try to keep a few things already incubated for taking out fans and players when the field requires it.

8 is about the same depending on Footballs you have.
Jesus will slowly earn you back some over time. It’s really a matter of do you want him? Or want to wait for what comes next.

Is there going to be another poll? TinyCo needs to see what a failure in design this event was.
Outside of the major bugs, which turned a 3 week event into a 2 week one, the one that really cause a shut down in game progress was how they released the weekly content without any check points. This made Phase 2 and 3 content to overwrite the previous Phase’s content before players were finished with it. Usually TinyCo puts this in by having the player unlock the Phase when they are finished with it (ex. clicking on Drive In Theater Screen), but this time they didn’t implement it. This could have been easily accomplished by having the game check what Game the player was on. If the player is on Game 4 or 7 Phase 2 or 3 would then be unlocked.
Right now I’m stuck on Game 4 doing Phase 3 content unable to get Pom Poms, when I should be doing Phase 2. Yes, I said I gave up on this event, but I wanted to at least see if I could get that last Pom Pom for Game 4. It looks like its not going to happen.

I’m with you. The time to earn energy drinks is too long and no way will I get Cheerleader Bonnie. Plus the drop rates have been pathetic. Game crashes long after I exit, only to return and find my characters weren’t really working on their tasks and now I’ve lost 2/4/8 hours of work. Another poll would be nice.

I’m torn. I enjoyed this event more than any other in recent memory and it had nothing to do with the football theme. I loved opening my game every couple of hours and seeing what challenges awaited me. I really enjoyed the fast turnaround and strategizing to make sure I had the right people ready to get that next first down. But, like many, my overall progression was not very good despite racing up and down the field. I could see that I wasn’t even close to the final week’s stuff but I have kept on playing because if how much I have enjoyed the set up. I hope TinyCo can bring this concept back in the future but better thought out on their end so people can be successful and not get so frustrated.

I can confirm that I have been hit with the Touchdown Jesus bug. The costume is currently in my Al’s, but it says it needs Jesus unlocked (which he is). I have notified TinyCo. already in case they needed more information. Just wanted to add another confirmation of the issue. Thanks for everything!

I was having issues with Touchdown Jesus bug. I logged in on another device and it fixed itself. Worth a try. Or perhaps just doing a fresh launch of the app, if another device isn’t an option.

I’m one of those that is unable to get bonnie because the game doesn’t recognize that I have already unlocked Bonnie. So tomorrow the events ends and I stuck doing nothing because I can’t proceed in the main questline. Fo you have any reply by tinyco? Or suggestion? Thanks

I had that problem for a minute and then I exited the game and came back in and it started the cheerleader questline. (I guess I also tried to open the game on another device [which is a whole other problem] and maybe that kick started it)

The mechanics were pretty interesting, but as is often the case, the math just didn’t add up. For me, things were actually going pretty well right up until the energy drinks being needed (only because I bought Brady) as the jerseys weren’t dropping, the gloves weren’t dropping, and then the energy drinks weren’t dropping properly. Might be able to finish peter’s costume on time, but sad that I won’t get touchdown Jesus.
There were some positive things, like a few past event characters that got put to use, even if a little late for it to do much good, so hopefully they learn from this for future events. An extension through the weekend would also not go amiss…

Also having an issue with finishing Cheerleader Bonnie that I bubbled up to Tiny Co. I won the game, but it says I need to unlock (regular) Bonnie Swanson first…which I already have. It’s a shame. This event was the first one I’ve been able to seriously participate in in months, and I’m nowhere near Jesus (like many). This may be the end of the game for me. Thanks for the updates, though! They’ve always been super helpful!

I really like some of the new game mechanics they introduced this time.
Even with whatever reservations or complaints I might have about the actual execution of various events, I really appreciate that TinyCo is continuing to try new things. I remember during the game’s first year, they seemed to repeat the same thing, over and over, just with new graphics. Admittedly, there is still a good amount of repetition, but they are still expanding creatively.
Just think about what we’ve gotten in the past year or so. A war at the North Pole. Playing football games, down by down. Building our own starship Enterprise. And so on.
On the down side, I’m still hoping they’ll consistently work out a good balance for their events — and that they’ll realize that a little downtime between events is a good thing.

I bought out the last game. But I only need 3 mouth guards and 3 flags for SN Peter! I know I can do this, since they’re both always drops. I just.. Dislike, lol, that the mouth guards come from the football field. I don’t even take out refs until I move on to my next first now. Gah!! 😝

Really this is the first event where I was upset. Others have had their issues but I always saw the balance between grinding, paying, or going without.
What upset me on this one was the complete and total stop of forward motion. It took three days to get a first down since it needed two refs.
That was just crushing. I was always so happy when I could clear a task to finish a down, then through careful tapping, get another down, maybe even two. (Props to TC for putting the actions needed in different locations, actually made this possible)
It was silly but it made my day 🙂 (what can I say, I’m really amused)
But sitting in one spot for three days took away the excitement.

It is reminiscent of the Pee Pants Event to me. There are some great ideas, execution… still waiting to see what the next 24hr brings before my final decisions.

Bunny, I respect what you are saying about the “step” method, but let me say this: I played hard this event and absolutely loved the design, the mechanicals and everything about it. I thought it was one of the most enjoyable events TinyCo has put out in the last year. Absolutely loved it and had the most fun in awhile. And I am not a football fan.
HOWEVER, I will not even come close to finishing the Peter skin and I played every two hours like clock work — by far my worst performance in an event. I got first downs and moved down the field (I have eight footballs banked with no premium help), so I played it as presented. There just wasn’t enough items in the game to work through what was needed to be successful. Yes, the drops for most everything have multiplied dramatically, but frankly it was just too late.
I will be interested to see results of a poll that would show how many got the Jesus skin and the breakdown of premium vs. freemium. I am not sure TinyCo’s official position on this, but if events are set up where people — both premium and freemium — can not “win” the event, what is the purpose of playing them?

I don’t mind the ‘Phase’ method, it keeps it interesting, as you said lots of games use this method and it works when doNE right. However, the people who can ‘do the math’, Tinyco, does not. They seem to use the ‘Just wing it’ method were they make it too hard and then try to adjust drops after the fact, which usually ends up being a too little/too late scenario. That, in my opinion, leads to the frustration, not the fact that I can’t determine the math ahead of time.

Thanks Bunny. Quick question on Touchdown Jesus, I’ve found in my game whenever normal Jesus drops clams its always 2, so would Touchdown Jesus drop 4. Or would it be a game of chance on the drop rates. Trying decide whether buy out the last game or not, something keeps telling me don’t, I think it might be Alissa’s voice in my head, but then I think double clams might be worth the investment.

The image of the drop is one Clam Icon which gives you +2 Clams, so with it doubled… you will see 2 Clam Icons with +2 each awarded…4 Clams Paid total… x2 like the outfit says. 🙂

The event went smoothly till the last phase. It’s a shame too. I had cheerleader Bonnie and everything ready for the phase. But the time it took for those crystals and the small chance of it not dropping which happened more then once. Made me take the whole week just to unlock Peter. Still thinking if I want to spend 500 clams for touchdown Jesus or not. I already have Jesus, but the fact the costume has a multiplier to the clams that drop peeks my interest.
You have any plans on doing Avenger’s Acadamy? In case you didn’t know, which I am sure you do. It’s the newest game from TinyCo. I am currently playing it along side FG:TQFS. I am enjoying it very much.
Random Fun Fact: Toby Turner (Tobuscus) is the voice actor of Ant Man in this game. Huge fan of Toby for over 6 years. (He is on YouTube, in case you didn’t know him)

Lol. If you bounced around the site (comments), you would see we did discuss this. We are still debating. We have known about it since its creation, however not every game really fits the “need” for an Addicts site. Now it is live for all to play, we will really try to dive into it and see what it is all about and if our time and effort spent on an Addicts site will be “worth it” for this style game. 😉

Thanks for the info round-up. Gotta say I was extremely disappointed we didn’t get a week extension to wrap up the last phase. I understand you when you say you can’t rely on “math” to calculate your ability to finish a questline/challenge, but even with late addition drops (such as the crystals needed to make the machines to clear the blind refs), it’s impossible to finish the football games. I think I should unlock Peter in time – either through normal collections or a small amount of clams to make up the difference – but there’s no chance of collecting the items that only that costume drops, let alone enough to beat two games worth.
Also, oddly enough, I still haven’t seen a need for shoes. I thought they were needed for downs, but I was either mistaken or my game has forgotten to ask for them.

You may have lucked out, but yah… sneakers ONLY showed up as a First Down Requirement task to collect them. So if you bypassed this, feel lucky. 🙂
I am still interested too where everyone will end up. We still have over a day and a half left, so waiting to see if anything more changes in the meantime. It isn’t over just yet. 🙂
