There’s No Place Like Quahog 101: Tornadoes

Well things in Quahog never run as expected, and that continues with the arrival of tornadoes in town a week AFTER falling houses started raining down on us.

I’ve always felt that being sucked up by a tornado and dumped in Oz would be wonderful, but knowing my luck I’d be sucked up and dumped in Cleveland instead. No offence Cleveland, you were just the first place that came to mind. But I digress, let’s get back to the matter in hand, tornadoes and what you need to clear them in Phase 3 of There’s No Place Like Quahog.

With so much going on in the first day or two of a new phase I know you all feel like you’re in the eye of a storm as a tornado of information is thrown your way, but we’re here to break it down so you can follow the yellow brick road without worrying about a tornado dropping you at the feet of a wicked witch, even if she is dead.

So let’s take a closer look at the new content released in Phase 3 of There’s No Place Like Quahog and see exactly what it takes to get these tornadoes out of our towns.

WHAT THE HECK ARE TORNADOES?

They are a violent rotating column of air, ok now that’s the scientific bit over with let’s get on with it. In order to start learning about them in Quahog you will need to be at Pt. 1  of the Main Questline There’s No Place Like Oz. It’s here you will be instructed to Learn About Tornadoes. Clicking Go will bring up some very basic instructions on how to clear, or in TinyCo’s words wrangle them from your town. Tornadoes will now start appearing in your town, where they will sook up a character trapping them inside their vortex until you save them.

The characters we’ve seen trapped in tornadoes so far are Bonnie, Mr Herbert, Brian, Carter, Bruce, Seamus, Meg, Connie and Dr Hartman. These and any other characters who can be captured by tornadoes will be evicted and locked out of Tan Lines for the remainder of the event.

At this point you will also trigger the ability to collect the lassoes needed to train Cowboy Munchkins in order to wrangle tornadoes.

WHERE WILL I FIND TORNADOES?

Tornadoes  tend to swirl around your roads, so if you’re not seeing them they might be hiding on a piece of road behind a tall building. I’ve only two small strips of road just now and they have are swirling beside them.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START SEEING TORNADOES?

You don’t need to do anything apart from reach Pt. 1 of the main Questline, There’s No Place Like Oz. As soon as you get to that part they will automatically appear in Quahog for you to find. I immediately saw 5 in my town, so this looks like the max. Once a Tornado is wrangled a replacement landed about 4 hours later in my game. Tornadoes look like this.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WRANGLING TORNADOES?

You will need to collect 1 Lasso to train a Munchkin into a Cowboy Munchkin to wrangle a tornado. Try saying that when you’ve had a few drinks!!!

Lasso (Always): Peter Play Cowboy OR Mort Untangle Old Ropes OR Jerome Do Lasso Tricks OR The Buckin’ Munchkin Rodeo

HOW DO I CREATE COWBOY MUNCHKINS

You need 1 Lasso to train 1 Cowboy Munchkin. Once you have a lasso you need to go to the Munchkin Academy, it’s in the event area and looks like this.

The exclamation mark above the Munchkin Academy denotes that there are training spaces available.

Training Spaces: There are now 6 training spaces available, this is the maximum Cowboy Munchkins you can train at anyone time.

Capacity: You will see the academy capacity in the top right corner, you will see the capacity of the Munchkin Academy at this time is either:

8 – this is the standard capacity we all start with.

OR

12 – this is the increased capacity that you can get if you purchase the premium building, the Munchkin Mayor House. This costs 200 Clams and boosts your standard capacity in the Munchkin Academy from 8 to 12.

This means you can only have a total of 8, (or 12 if you purchased the Munchkin Mayor House), Cowboy Munchkins created and/or Cowboy Munchkins in training at any time. If your capacity is showing full, then you can free up capacity by using some of your Cowboy Munchkins to wrangle away some Tornadoes.

The training academy looks like this when Cowboy Munchkins are in training.

When a Cowboy Munchkin has completed its training you will see the check mark above your training academy. It takes 1 hour to train each Cowboy Munchkin.

Clicking on the check mark will complete the training and provide you with a Cowboy Munchkin, ready for you to unleash on those eyesore Tornadoes.

HOW DO I WRANGLE A TORNADO?

Once you have a Cowboy Munchkin simply look around Quahog for a Tornado, tap it and this will bring up the launch screen. Notice this screen tells you the character that is trapped, in the example here it’s Mr Herbert.  When choosing a tornado to clearI suggest you prioritise the tornadoes that have trapped characters useful in the event.

Simply drag your Cowboy Munchkin over to a Tornado, you will know it’s in the target when you see the Tornado turn purple within a green circular target, once it’s targeted quickly tap the tick to clear the Tornado.

You’ll see the Tornado  disappear in the little puff of goodies it drops, and the trapped character will return to the task they were previously on. Don’t tap the character until they are back in the task location as this can sometimes cancel their current task.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

The rewards you get are as follows. Tornadoes drop the following:

Per Tornado wrangled:
1 Furball (Common) – needed to purchase items from the Fallen Farmhouse

There you have it, all the facts about Tornadoes. Have you started to wrangle them yet? If so, are you enjoying this silly addition to our games? Any other tips for fellow Players? Let us know.

  1. I was wondering why I can’t put my characters back into tan lines. This must be why. At least I hope so.

  2. I can’t find any info here on The Wicked Wishlist to get the witch. When it first showed up, the list was fairly attainable. Now it’s requiring actions by characters I don’t even have yet. What’s up with that?
