To Repair Or Not To Repair? Tehuantl’s Temple Poll

Hey there Addicts, as much as I can now Time Travel, I still can’t predict what’s going to happen in this crazy game we all play, although……. I did say we’d see another timed character this Phase. Anyway after the timed Ted issues I was wondering how many players have started working on unlocking Tehuantl and how many of you are delaying the inevitable? So I thought I’d throw up a quick poll to see just how everyone is playing with regards the new timed character. Personally I repaired the Temple and started working on him straight away when Phase 3 dropped, I was planning to repair his drop buildings first, but then I changed tack and repaired the buildings that dropped for Mayan Warrior Brian first. Why? Well looking at things I felt I needed to get Mayan Warrior Brian clearing Tropical Birds if I wanted to get the 24 Feather Shields needed for unlocking Tehuantl. I guess only time will tell if my swithering and dithering over things will impact me unlocking Tehuantl before the timer counts down. But whatever plan you have, which you can share with us in the comments, I wish you good luck guys.

Anyway unlike most things in FGQFS, this is a nice easy poll, it’s just one question and you’ll see the results immediately as the poll gets completed by your fellow addicts.

I used a similar strategy that I did for Ted (which didn’t help anything at all)—I had most everything I needed unlocked before I repaired the temple. I still have four days left on the timer. Things had been going OK for a while, but over the last 24 hours, drops have slowed down dramatically. For example, feather shields were dropping every time I cleared birds, but it’s completed twice today with no drop. The buildings are not dropping anymore either.

  2. These timed characters seem like red herrings to me. It feels like the timer is supposed to give a sense of urgency or importance, but the payoff is so underwhelming because the character turns out to be of limited value. Because of this observation, I have resolved myself to not stress over them.

The questline takes priority, so I repaired it and moved forward – focusing more on Mayan Brian than Tehuantl. Surprisingly, the drops have been fairly decent and I am only 1 item away (with 36 hours to go). Go figure…

So if you want to avoid falling behind, take the plunge already. Unlocking a character (who, to my knowledge, has nothing to do with Family Guy) is not worth missing out on the next phase

A day left. Should make it now that I got Mayan Brian.

  4. I unlocked him first too. Then I worked on unlocking the other buildings (unlocking them in order of what the game asked for). The drops have been FAR better for Tehuantl (at least for me) than the drops for Ted (stupid vests..).
I have around two days left on the timer and have almost everything (drop wise) needed to unlock the character. It looks like this will be a character which can actually be unlocked simply by playing, instead of playing AND then also having to spend clams as well..

  6. I unlocked it after I repaired Stone Carvings since it drops the rare item. I was going to wait until I had both that and the Calendar Kiosk as well as Brian but wanted to give myself time to have the full 7 days. I thought I was going to unlock Brian this weekend but I am still only just past the halfway mark on most of his stuff.

  8. I had waited to get closer to unlock Brian – only to get stone carver building (cost 100 Mayan capsules) since it showed it dropped statues needed for Brian (which have been anything but common so far when Brian does his task) only to have tinyco change it up and no longer have this building drop statues – so it cost 100 capsules for absolutely nothing – now I’m farther behind. I’m hoping this will change or I’ll get my capsules back – I’ve messaged tinyco – hoping for some reply

The Stone Carver building didn’t drop anything for Mayan Warrior Brian, it’s drop is to help unlock Tehuantl- it drops the rare fertility statues, so it’s actually a very useful building, however you won’t see the drops until you repair Tehuantl’s Temple.

      • Thanks – I realized my mistake early this morning after I unlocked the jaguar – those items looked to golden and close in design. So now I still need 8 more Mayan headdresses for/from Brian and 3 more steaks and I just unlocked the jaguar building this morning – so we will see how it goes. I figure I’ll have Mayan BRIAN in about 2 days

  9. I unlocked almost immediately, only waiting 8 hours until morning to do so. I don’t see point in waiting as it’s important to start collecting items as soon as possible. I really don’t care if I unlock an unknown character or not

  10. Waited couple of days so I could get close to unlocking Brian coz figured he was needed for birds as I figured that Jerome could struggle to get there by himself. Basically unlocked Tehuantl temple yesterday and Brian today so should be pretty close to getting character by time next week starts.

I usually wait on timed characters but I mistakenly started the timer on this character right away. Since most of the things needed to unlock Tehuantl are character drops I’m not doing too bad for starting earlier than usual.

  12. I started the timed event pretty early. As I assume Brian has until the entire event is over, I wanted to get the cheetah out of the way. I still should finish him before the new week starts. Any character that wasn’t needed for this week went back to the other periods to continue to stockpile things to earn more time capsules I could trade in for the ones needed this week. I have been able to get enough feathers from the guy with the cart and Jerome. Now I have all the buildings open and I’m just finishing the cheetah and Brian. My drops seem to be pretty good; I got the weekly prize and there is a glitch I messaged TC about. Placing the cheetah and hitting returns brings up an image of the sitting cheetah overlayed with one shown on the prize info. Lois is needed for both Brian and the cheetah, so I am rotating both of her tasks.

  13. I also unlocked Tehuantl’s temple as soon as I could. There shouldn’t be any overlap of tasks, but like many others, I’m finding that unlocking Mayan Chief Brian is taking longer than expected.

I personally think they should have moved Tehuatl back to Pt. 4 or 5 of the main questline. But as we all know…TinyCo is all about trying to challenge players.

  14. I started on him fairly quickly as well since the setup seemed to justify doing that. I’m starting to doubt what I did since then though… I still don’t have Warrior Brian unlocked because of the dang Steak Tartare drops. I left that building to unlock (along with Calendar Kiosk) because it has an ‘uncommon’ drop and figured Mort would get most of them anyway. He’s only gotten me three. I got more of the rare statues from Herbert. Why is it always the uncommon drops that cause all the problems? Time capsule gathering rate has now slowed considerably as well…

  15. I started it straight away. Currently I just need 8 more Shields with just over 3 days left so should get it easily unless something drastically changes with the drop rates.

  16. I went ahead and unlocked him right away. I noticed lots of the items were attached to characters, and that I wouldn’t waste materials on not getting items. How many birds and Mayan warriors would I collect on but not get the items that fall. That was my thinking. Plus I accidentally opened the last one and completed it just fine!

  17. I was behind starting phase 3 due to slow progress getting the time capsules in phase 2 (why can’t we use the same time capsules throughout?) so I repaired his temple before remembering he was a timed character.

I will unlock the buildings in the order the achievements/main quest requires so we’ll see how that goes. Already missed out on Ted so I’m not fussed on an unknown character.

    • You can swap the Colonial Time Capsules for Renaissance Time Capsules, and swap Renaissance Capsules for Mayan. This is done in the store. Swap Colonial for Ren in Ren, swap Ren for Mayan in Mayan.
Oh, just in case you didn’t realize it (I didn’t): There’s an arrow in the challenges menu that lets you go back and do challenges in the previous time zones. I missed out on that for a week. I could be WAY ahead of where I am now.

  18. i did repair the temple bcz i wanted to make use of those items you get from the Birds and the Mayans .. but i waited until I was a few capsules away from Stone Carvings since it drops the “rare” item (Statue) which Herbert takes 6 hours to drop … so far Herbert dropped 3 but the building Zero … and also after i made some progress with Brian who will soon be able to help Jerome with the birds (Feather Shield) .. Lois is doing ok with the Mayan Day Keeper drops i feel i don’t need its building … and Bonnie and Connie are also dropping their obsidians fine … it’s just the feather shileds bcz we need 24 of them but i’ll get Brian tomorrow night hopefully (if he keeps his common drops .. im 12/20 masks) and this will double the process (i have 4/24 so far) esp that the bird task is 5 hrs …

  20. I usually unlock the timed characters pretty soon, because the drops will then be available and I can at least start sending the characters after the drops. sometimes by the time I have the whatevers to buy that building, I already have all the drops, and can use those whatevers for a different building, or bank them. Then I buy the buildings for the drops that do not have a character also tasking for them, then I buy one of the buildings where they have two buildings making the same drop, then the rest. It usually works out, and if it doesn’t, oh well! *chuckle*

  21. I stocked up supplies for a couple of days and unlocked yesterday afternoon. I’m hoping that’s a good compromise and will know by next Sunday.
