  1. Not sure if this has been addressed yet but I like the idea of the premium characters presented through this avenue as well. However, if I didn’t pay 270 clams for these characters when they assisted with events when they were launched, there is no way I would pay 270 now for them just to have them in my game. I would however spend the clams I am collecting by clearing levels to purchase some of these characters for half that price (135 clams) or lower. And I would consider paying much less than that for the skins. Other than being a completist, the skins for characters who are already in my game don’t mean anything to me. I will be saving my medals and clams for full characters.

  2. I’m having a similar issue with a building not being available. I attained Satan through QHS and his What the Devil? Pt 4 action requires the Hellmouth.
I can’t find it in either the Shop or my Inventory (not sure that I ever had it, though – don’t remember it).
As with Tan Lines and the Shop, I genuinely wish the Inventory had a Search Function..! I’d waste less mobile battery searching searching searching for one tiny thing for one tiny task.
Before I go to support about it, does anyone know which category in inventory it’d be in? Again – looking for Hellmouth.

    • It came with Satan when you bought him previously. So you probably don’t have it. I’ve requested TinyCo put it in the store somehow, so I’ll get back to you if it’s possible.

  4. I have noticed that when I complete a part of the unlock requirements for new characters that I am not getting the gold medals that it shows as the payout. I have 2 of prison Joe’s requirements met, but got 0 of the 400 gc for qhs. Would msg support but all I get is “Failed to send: when I try.

    • You don’t get them as you complete each requirement, you only get them these the end if you don’t fully unlock the costume. If you don’t unlock it they award you the medals you see for requirements completed. If you DO unlock him you get the Trophy worth the 1000 Medals instead. You’ll notice completing each part of Joe’s costume is worth 200 Medals, multiply this by the 5 items you need to collect and you get the 1000 medals that make a Trophy.

  5. I haven’t given Tinyco/Jamcity the suggestion, but maybe I’ll suggest it here since you talked to them more than I do. These may have already been said or may not have but here goes.

    1. They should create a new building and sell for about 25k or 50k coins (Or cheaper, use those dang coins for something right?) specifically for “Go for the Gold” action/task. So it doesn’t clutter up The Griffin House as there are other actions/tasks in that building. And sometimes it’s hard to keep track because there are so many characters in there.

    2. Go for the Gold Task needs to either be “set to the top” of the action list or set up a different way, as it is very tedious to go through 100+ character’s actions/tasks to locate that particular action/task through all those characters.

Don’t get me wrong, this new thing is fantastic to get all those past characters ( I actually need to get to Al Harrington haha), I just think they went about setting it up in the wrong direction and needs some redirecting or recoding to set it up a bit easier for the players.

    That’s all for now. 😀

  6. This is almost what DOOP should have been when it was put into FWOT. Greatly enjoying it, though maybe use a new building for sending all the characters to as the Griffin House is used for other tasks anyways. I understand their thinking in that everyone will have the building however.

  7. Since I’m a “newer” player, started playing this year, I only have 73 characters and 26 skins. I don’t like that 3 out of the 4 options have to be unlocked in order to move on to the next rank. I prefer individual characters to the skins because they will help me get more medals than the skins will. For rank 4 I had to choose between the Stewie or Lois skin to move on, and I didn’t want either one. Now in rank 5 I have to choose between 2 more skins I don’t want in order to move on. I see rank 6 I’ll need to choose 2 of the 3 skins. This feature seems to benefit the players who have been playing for awhile to accumulate medals for the here and there characters or skins they missed in the past. With only having 70 characters to send every 8 hours it’s a slow process to unlock 3 in a rank. Is there any talk or a chance TinyCo would consider removing the mandatory 3 options in order to move on to the next rank or make each rank have 3 of the 4 options be characters to help a player that is “newer” to the game? Thanks!

    • I think this is more fun for newer players as I’m a long term player, I’ve no one to unlock until Rank 32, so have nothing to do. But most players like Stewie costumes and lot miss them as usually premium, so I’d choose him. Unfortunately it’s impossible to keep new and old players 100% happy, but I think I’d be happy to have so much available to unlock at my leisure, these characters/costumes aren’t going away. So font stress to keep up with the ranks opening.

Medals, hopefully an easier way to do the Go Fir Gokd task will come up, and maybe other ways to earn medals.

    • Also, you’re lucky that you’re able to progress to these levels. Many of us ‘older’ players are stuck on Level 2 or 3, because of a glitch holding is back – definitely no advantage to that.
Just remember that there’s no deadline on QHS, so take your time – you’re getting skins gratis that others have paid good Clams for in the past.

  8. The Employment Agency in Tapped Out won’t send characters that have currently active tasks (so you don’t accidentally use someone you need for a storyline or daily task). It also takes a cut of the payout as a convenience fee. That’d be a good a model for streamlining Going for the Gold. Though I’d agree that beggars shouldn’t be too choosy- I’ve done OK sending everyone out manually and usually only make a couple of mistakes. If they’d just make the thing actually work and move the action to a new building instead of one with real tasks, I think that’d be fine. I have thousands of gold medals I can’t use yet, and I was hoping to get some clams for Black Friday shopping. Maybe they can have a BF sale that uses the gold medals to appease us.

  10. I really have nothing to add to this point that doesn’t echo everyone else’s points – Tan Lines is now obsolete with hundreds of characters gathered at the Griffin House every eight hours which induces full-on Repetitive Strain Injury, etc.

I’d settle for half the medals delivered in one tap of Tan Lines per day, so multiply the number of characters in Tan Lines by 1.5, round up to the nearest medal, and pay out every 24 hours.

  11. I’m still stuck on rank 1 as rank 2 won’t open but know that’s a known issue. I think tan lines needs to be expanded to allow us to unlock more storage though as I already have too many characters to go in and this will mean I’ll have even more out in the way when they’re not needed. I can’t be the only one with this issue!

  12. I think this feature is awesome. You can get a lot of new (old) stuff at your own pace without much effort. I would suggest only two changes:
    – Moving the ‘go for gold’ action to the top, since old main characters like Lois have tons of actions before that one
    – Maybe having a specific building for that action, like many others have already suggested, so as not to cram the Griffin House with characters.

I don’t mind having to send characters manually. It’s a tapping game called ‘quest’ for stuff; we’re supposed to tap to get stuff, not just receive it 😛 lol (and that would make it boring imo). I’m not planning to send all the people I have to collect medals anyway; just the ones I unlock in current events and the ones I take out the inventory/tan lines for some other quests. It’d take forever and make the game heavier or something like that. After all, there’s no rush; we have like 2 years to reach the last rank 🙂

  13. Concur with all:

    1. Sending 300 characters manually to Go for Gold 3X per day is madness. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

    2. Clogging up the Griffin house with 300 characters is also madness. It’s impossible to find Peter or Stewie when needed for an event task.

    3. Let us trade Gold Stewie Backs for 1 Trophy or 1,000 Medals.

    4. Change Tan Lines to stop dropping Stewie Bucks and instead start dropping Medals or Trophies.

That should be an easy coding fix. Kill 3 birds with 1 stone. No need for a special button either — just let Tan Lines collect the Medals — instead of sending them to the Griffin House on a task 3X per day.

The simplest solution is usually the best solution.

    • Thanks. However I’m not sure I agree with using Stewie Bucks as long term players would already have loads, this is supposed be something to play over time not a quick rush.

  14. I agree with everyone who has suggested one tap to send characters on the go for the gold task and one tap to collect the reward as it is a bit tedious. I have just unlocked 80’s Stewie in rank 2 but I’m now stuck as everything else is locked. Also the medals that drop after the 8 hour task aren’t visible and don’t show up on the task list.

    • Thanks. Your stuck in the rank unlock glitch with the rest of us, fix is coming in next few days. And the lack of a visual medal drop is upsetting players even although they do add to your total.

  15. We are still having issues with rank 3 onward not unlocking even though we have all skins and characters for ranks 1 and 2. For example, we have one character in rank 3 left and one character plus one skin in rank 4 to get, but these remain locked even though we completed the previous 2 ranks. Love the feature but there is still clearly a glitch.

  16. I’m not going to repeat what was said here as far as suggestions – many good ones and pretty complete, but I would offer that I like ‘doing’ tasks, so I don’t want the medals to become another Stewie Buck collection where we hit it once or twice a day…that being said, streamlining the process is needed, dedicated building, one-step for sending characters on Go for the Gold task and one tap for clearing them would be great…

Overall, I’m thrilled to have this feature, as long as they fix the glitches (I can’t go past Rank 3 at this point), it’s a welcome addition to the game. I’m all about the characters, so being able to get ones I missed or were in the game prior to me starting to play is awesome…

  17. Could there maybe be a building for the historical society? Having the building be the Griffin house slows down/boys down processes for current events. That way, One can go and release characters not going for the gold and have their tasks started faster. Then, we click on the historic society, and you can either choose to grab characters out that are needed, or just have them continue on or start all of that works better. Having to go through all the characters I have takes 10+ minutes, which is a drag. The reward is awesome, but streamlining it would make the experience so much better.

  18. I’m with many others here. I literally have about 400 characters I have to send off every 8 hours. It takes so much time! I wish there was maybe an in-game window that could pop up that would just let you go down a list and check off the characters you want to send off on that quest to Go for Gold. Or have it from within Tan Lines. Minimally they need to move the quest to the top of the quest menu for each character (again, with about 400 characters, sending them all off one by one is painful enough, then you add in that I have to scroll through each characters quest to find the right quest. It take 30 to 45 minutes to cycle just these characters!). I’d also really prefer they move the quest to a different (and preferably not used for any other quest) building. Like right now for the current event, I can’t even try to find Chris in his home because of all the Go for Gold characters in there and it collects money too fast resetting my search. It’s impossible to find characters that are doing things other than Go for Gold. I love the idea, but it’s application definitely needs some tweaks. Also, I’m anotherbne in the boat if I can’t progress to level 2 even though I have all the level 1 characters.

  20. The Quahog Historical Society – I LOVE IT! The possibility of unlocking up to four full characters and costumes every couple of days FOR FREE? And being rewarded Clams when you finish a rank? FOR FREE? And also possibly completing the odd Facespace group here and there too for even more free clams? Mind boggling!! It’s what I hoped Tan Lines might turn into, but far, far, FAR exceeds my expectations.

In terms of how it could be improved:-

    (1) I definitely think the “Go For Gold” task should take place in a separate building rather than in the Griffin House. I have around 300 characters on the task (!) and whilst I am “mostly” happy to spend the time sending them all off on the task (did I mention FREE CHARACTERS? lol) it is incredibly frustrating to have Chris and Peter in there too, having finished a (coincidentally 8 hr) Questline task, to have to click though every other character before I can free them from the Griffin House. It would be amazing if there was a way to select which character comes out of a “completed task building”, but there isn’t.

So having the “Go For Gold” characters in a dedicated building means I can tap, tap, tap x 300 and redeploy in a more controlled manner – and when I have time – without impeding progress on event tasks and questlines.

    (2) So yes, it takes AGES to tap and redeploy 300 characters, which could turn into a bit of a grind because this feature is for the long haul. I understand lots of people asking for a “Mass Deploy” option, which would be great (because who remembers what clearing coins on buildings was like before Consuela’s magic vacuum?!). However, if TinyCo make it TOO easy for us to get all these goodies, what is the point? We are getting free characters and costumes galore, and if it was a simple as a single button click two or three times a day, where’s the real reward? They may as well just give us all the characters and costumes for free now, no effort. Personally, yes it’s a grind, but no pain no gain.

There may also be an issue with a “mass deploy” – if you had inadvertently not sent an Event Questline character on their event task, then hit the mass deploy, eight hours is a LONG time to wait – especially if it’s a timed event. Perhaps they could finally implement a “Cancel Task” option for characters, so that you can stop a task in progress for no cost, but not receive a medal or drop. If you want to spend clams to speed the task completion to receive the drop or medal, then fine. (I don’t have the “hurry up watch an ad” feature in my game – boo.)

BUT they could make it a *little* easier for us if they could move the Go For Gold task up to the top of everyone’s task list because it’s far quicker to drag the top task over multiple times than the few extra seconds it takes for the brain and finger to work out where the task is in a long list. So if a “Mass Deploy” is too easy an option, then promoting the task to the top of the task list would be a great compromise. We’d still have to work on getting the characters on task, but it would actually feel like an achievement the next time you unlock a new character in the ranks.

    (3) Obviously they need to fix the teething trouble with the ranks not unlocking when previous ranks are completed. When the feature started, I had two characters to earn in rank 1, and one in rank 2. I have now earned all three of those characters and Rank 3 has not unlocked for me either. So it is not just affecting players who already had all the characters in a particular rank right away. But as RT said, we can still collect medals and trophies ready for the fix.

Other than that, I am thrilled with this feature!

  23. First of all they have to move Go for Gold quest out of Griffins House to some other building, in my opinion it would be best if they could use Tan Lines either collecting every 8 hours with each character having separate timer or just collecting once every 24 hours.

    • Ok, I actually talked about fact it would be Feb 2022 before Rank 122 unlocked just for fun as I personally believe once they get this established and issues fixed they will probably accelerate this, but hopefully not too much. Also I explained some characters were time constrained by licensing and might not come back in this but that’s not to say never. I’m actually a this time asking if there is any way some events can be revisited. In fact look out fir a post on this in next few days.

  25. I play the game for something enjoyable to do so moving the 80 extra characters I have to go for gold is not a big deal. Being a grinder I don’t mind working to get the extra characters and costumes, I don’t expect them to be handed out on a silver platter. No rule says you have to pull all of them out at once to get gold, just pull out a hundred at a time. Things the way they are is just fine, don’t mind working a little for the gains. Thanks to Tiny Co. and to you, RT.

  26. I’m enjoying the ability to get characters and costumes I missed before, so I’m happy with the idea of the new feature. Getting trophies (and medals for partial unlocks) during the current event is very helpful. That said, I agree with other posters about possible improvements to the feature.

    – Having a dedicated Historical Society building would be great. It can be a process to go through all the characters getting medals in the Griffin house to check on the one I need an event drop from. I understand it is a building everyone would have, but having a new building would be great for everyone’s sanity.
    – Tie in medal earning with Stewie Bucks. I use Tan Lines as a place for characters that are fully maxed and not needed for the current event. I am getting medals from the characters I have that are not fully leveled and getting my 200 or so characters all out was a bit more of a process than I wanted to go through. I have plenty of Stewie Bucks, so I would suggest a way of trading those in for medals/trophies. Maybe a gold Stewie Buck for a trophy or x amount of medals? At least some way of using the existing currency for those who have purchased all the available characters and decorations and motivation to keep some characters in Tan Lines and doing the daily challenges.

Thanks, RussianTigger for all your great work putting all the information together and keeping this site going!

  39. Hope I’m not late to add my feedback to this new feature…

    1.)

Place all characters with the task “go for gold” in a separate building specifically for this task so that they won’t clog up the Griffin house for characters that drop items for the current event.

    2.)

Have a button that designates the task “go for gold” for all characters and maybe another that collects all medals from the characters assigned with the task “go for gold” in one click.

It currently takes over 30 minutes if I assign this task to over 200 characters by checking and reassigning this task every 8 hours!

This can be solved by disabling the task for those characters that drop for a specific event then, by clicking this button, players can assign/collect in one click to all those other characters not being utilized.

    3.)

Reduce the unlock times of each upcoming tier to maybe 2-3 days instead of 7 days each. As it currently is, it takes too long to unlock a new tier every week for players who have been playing this game since the beginning, 5 years ago.

I personally have most tiers already completed and need to wait for weeks, at times months even, to unlock a specific premium character/costume that I currently don’t have at the rate of 1 new tier every week!

    4.)

Re-utilize Tan Lines’ Stewie bucks. If Trophies & Medals are currently earned for buying previous characters/costumes, then I would suggest utilize the Stewie bucks to buy previous buildings/decos from past events. I’m currently at a dilemma if I keep most characters at Tan Lines or I assign them the new task “go for gold” for the medals as I currently don’t know if the Stewie bucks have now become obsolete or not with the Quahog Historical Society!

Maybe if TC/JC could make some clarification about this, it would be appreciated to see where the game’s heading to!

  41. My main problem is that all characters “going for the gold” clog up the Griffin house.

Having to click on the Griffin house 200 times to get Chris to drop his item for the Thanksgiving event is what made me put all the characters back in tan lines.

I think a separate building for the characters to “go for the gold” would be nice, then I could ignore it until I had time to mess with it and it wouldn’t interfere with other tasks.

  42. Some have suggested having a single button for the purpose of having all the characters do the “Go for the Gold” task. As Bonnie Swanson would say, “That’s silly!” Keep in mind that all the characters have this task, including the ones needed for the current event. If implemented, that single button will have all your characters go do the task and could inadvertently cause the ones needed for an event to also go (unless you were mindful to have them do their separate tasks first). Sure, TC could disable that task for those characters needed for an event and re-enable it when the character is no longer needed, but we’ve seen glitches where characters can still gather an item even after the quota has been met. Besides, it’s no fun just pushing a button just to go send all the characters off.

Since the Stewie Bucks have lost their value (pun intended), I suggest TC scrap them and start rewarding Medals instead. That way, TC doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel as some of the things in the game have new purposes, allowing TC to concentrate on fixing bugs and planning the next event. For example:
    – The “Daily Quest” can start rewarding Metals and the occasional Gold Clam instead of Stewie Bucks. But instead of having three characters perform tasks, increase the number to five or more.
    – As Andy suggested, characters that haven’t reach their max level can have some of their tasks reward Metals instead of coins. Having some tasks still reward coins may help newer players fix/buy buildings, unlock Districts and open new areas. Once a character reach max level, Metal rewards revert to coin rewards.
    – Another good suggestion by Andy is for Tan Lines to reward Metals instead of Stewie Bucks. The original concept for Tan Lines is still relevant in that the more characters you obtain to fill a floor, the more Metals you receive on a daily basis, thus getting you closer to unlocking a character or costume in the Historical Society. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Lastly, having a Quahog Historical Society Building in town is a good idea. But not as a place for the characters to “Go for the Gold”. Instead, it should be the actual QHS. Like Tan Lines, tap on the building and QHS pops up. IMHO, I rather like that to access the QHS than tapping that button on the bottom of the screen. But having both gives everyone a preference.

  43. Just took all 300+out of tanlines to “go for gold”. 300 clicks later, most are back in. That was just tedious. Given the rate at which levels are to be released in the game, i don’t think this will be necessary to constantly do this. Just take a few out occasionally if you need to boost your medal tally.

  44. As a returning player I’m thrilled about the opportunity to collect characters and costumes I missed during my hiatus, and I’m glad they aren’t too easy to get though it’s definitely easier for people who didn’t have a long hiatus and therefore have more characters to use. As mentioned above, it would be nice to have a send all to task button and a collect all button, and it would be super nice if they weren’t all in the Griffin house. If the buttons are out of the question, moving the “Go for the Gold” task to the top of the task list would be very helpful. As a completionist, the reason I left was because of characters that I could never get because they were tied to a ranking system. It would be super nice if those characters made it into the tiers somewhere. Even if they are made harder to get, it would be nice to know that it was possible.

  45. Agree with the above feedback.
It needs a dedicated building (maybe an actual Quahog Historical Society), and it needs an all inclusive collect / redeploy so you don’t spend an hour doing just that.
It’s too tedious and clunky right now to be worth the time and effort, so while I appreciate it on the surface, I think I’ll just be storing the 300-ish characters (or whatever) until some improvements come along.

  46. This is a lot to go through regarding reading all the posts for the new event and the QHS so I can only imagine what writing them up must be like.

Others have already stated things I’d like for the QHS so I want to use this feedback section for this particular feedback: thank you RussianTigger for putting this all together. The information about how it works, the 8 hour task feature, the characters listed, the clam rewards, details about the glitch and all the questions that are coming through.

Thank you for all your work.

  47. Yeah, this doesn’t seem thought out. If I take 200 or 300 characters out of Tan Lines, then after the 8 hour task is up, I’m going to have to go through each and every one individually to select their Go for the Gold task again. That’s quite time consuming, plus it’s all in one location, which is also being used for the weekly questline. I agree that having a special building just for the “go for the gold” actions and having one button to gather all of the gold coins and recycle all of the actions would be great, but would it be too easy? Say you had 300 characters, so you’d get 900 gold stars every day. Right now, if it takes 600 or 900 stars to unlock one character, you’d be able to unlock an entire set every 4 days, assuming you didn’t already have any of the characters in the set (and most people already have 2 or 3). I don’t know if that’s what they intended.

Maybe every week they have 10-15 ransom characters that can go for the gold, and have them drop 5-10 stars each time, so it just isn’t a blowout.

    • Having random characters would be just as bad as you would have to go through all the characters in Tan Lines to find out which ones had the task and if its the same characters for every player then what about newer players who might not have that character yet, you are limiting their chances to get the medals.
Maybe instead of a separate place for the task wouldn’t it have been easier to make Chris task not involve going into the Griffin house as that seems to be one of the problems.

While it is tedious to do, it is only twice a day you have to do it and nobody is making anybody send all the characters to collect medals

  48. I think I will use “Go for the gold” as a replacement for repeatedly putting a character on an animated task, until they “Level Up” to Max, before putting them in Tan Lines: No way am I going to rotate 300 characters through a task, every 8 hours! 🙂 I would also agree that these characters should do their task somewhere other than the Griffin House. Apart from that, I don’t think they need to change too much: They can’t make things TOO easy. 🙂

  49. First, I really love that Tiny Co has done this. It is a bit unmanageable at the moment, though, with about 300 characters crammed into the Griffin house. Redeploying all of the characters (with frequent crashes) takes about 30 minutes. That will get old quickly. Also, it’s impossible to check on the progress of event characters tasked to the Griffin house. I have 3 suggestions. How about a new dedicated building just for the Go-for-the-gold tasks? All of the characters earning medals can go there and the building won’t be used for any other task. Second, can we have an option for that new dedicated building to clear-and-redeploy all characters that have finished the 8 hour task? In other words, we can click on the building and a window will advise that 80 characters have finished the task; do you want to redeploy them? Or something like that. Third suggestion – it might help to have an All In and All Out option for Tan Lines. Again, really excited for this new feature.

  50. I’m all for the concept of this feature. It seems like the actual fulfillment of what we first thought Tan Lines and Stewie Bucks would offer before TinyCo forgot all about it (Fire Creatures and Palm Trees, anyone?).

HOWEVER, this whole “Go for the Gold” thing is madness. I now have over 300 characters doing 8 hour tasks at the Griffin house. In introducing this feature, why make Tan Lines completely obsolete *AND* create a bunch more work for players?

    Possible suggestions for improvement:
-Integrate Tan Lines!!! What if characters only had the “Go for the Gold” action until they reach their max level, at which point it disappears and they earn medals by going to Tan Lines?
-Have all the “Go for the Gold” tasks take place in a dedicated building, so I don’t have Chris collecting Prison Peter’s toothbrushes in the same building as 300 other characters doing non-event tasks.
-Move the “Go for the Gold” tasks to the top of character action menus (like they do with other item drops), so we don’t have to scroll down to find them.

I don’t know what the solution is, but it’s a bummer that participating in this new feature requires TONS more work than the game usually requires.

Lastly, they should fix the bug that is preventing ranks 2, 3, and 4 from unlocking.
