Alternate Quahogs Overview – Questions & Answers!!!

Hey there Land Lovers!

Just thought I’d put together a little overview of Alternate Quahogs to  answer the questions I’m seeing in the comments, and a few I’ve not seen yet but I know will come as the feature is going live. So take a peek below to see if I’ve managed answer all your queries, and if there’s anything else you’re wondering just ask me about it in the comments.

As well as the information below, you’ll find links to many AQ posts by clicking here!!!

What is Alternate Quahogs?

This is the feature that is getting rolled out to all players over the coming days, and it’s something many of you have been asking for as it will give you more land to display some of those event buildings in your inventory.

And this new feature contains a lot of new land, each land you buy has 20 blocks you can clear. However be aware some lands and some blocks is premium only.

Also remember this is permanent so unless you choose to spend clams to rush unlocking land you can work away freemium on many blocks. There is nothing in this that forces you to buy extra workers or rush things, it really is your choice if you spend money on rushing or unlocking premium towns.

What is the Alternate Quahogs Questline?

It’s a just a short 3 part Questline to introduce the new feature. You’ll find a post with it HERE.

How do I access Alternate Quahogs?

After Peter triggers the Learn About Alternate Quahogs Questline you just tap on the QHS button in the bottom left of your game, it looks like the Icon above then choose the land you want to preview, buy or visit.

What new towns are there in Alternate Quahogs?

There are 4 towns at the moment:

Grassland

Winterland

Desertland

Nightland

How do I unlock towns in Alternate Quahogs?

Quite simply you unlock them with coins or clams. Just click on the land you wish to buy, it will take you into a preview of the land, once there you can tap the Alternate Quahog icon, tap on the land and purchase it.

How much do the towns in Alternate Quahogs cost?

There are 4 towns at the moment:

Grassland: 50,000

Winterland: 150,000

Desertland: 624

Nightland: 400

Please note this only unlocks the access to the land, you’ll then need to unlock the land blocks separately.

What materials I need to unlock the Alternate Quahogs land blocks?

There’s old currencies, and some new materials you can get from character tasks.

***Now the new materials I mention are only used to unlock land in Winterland, but for some reason not everyone will need to collect the new materials as they’ll get the option to unlock the land with coins, I don’t know why we see different things in different games, I’ve asked Jam City and I’ll report the answer when I get it***

Coins
Clams
Stewie Bucks
Wooden Planks
Plastic Tubes
Orange Bricks
Metal Reinforcements
Nails
Red Jackhammer
Red Chainsaw
Green Screwdriver
Blue Hammer
Green Shovels
Blue Axes
Yellow Sanders
Yellow Circular Saws
Yellow Power Drills

Do I need any new buildings for Alternate Quahogs?

Yes. You’ll need to place the Alternate Quahog Portal to complete the Questline to fully launch the feature but then it does nothing, maybe that will change in future. It costs 10,000 Coins.

The other building you’ll see once you unlock Winterland is Quakea, this is needed to collect the new materials I listed above. You can place it in any land, or if you don’t want to collect materials you can store it. It costs 30,000 Coins.

Who drops the new materials?

There’s 14 new materials and lots of characters drop them, too many to list in this post, but if you place Quakea you’ll see the character drops appear near the top of character task lists. Her you can see Tricia drops Nails in a 17 hour task.

What if I don’t want see all these new material drops?

Simply store Quakea and tasks with the drops will disappear.

How do I use Workers in other towns?

You’ll get 1 Worker for free when you unlock a town, if you want more you’ll need to buy them. Please be aware if you’ve purchase extra workers in your standard town they can’t be used in Alternate Towns.

How do I unlock blocks of land?

The land block costs are different depending on what land you’re in or what block you are unlocking. I’ll put up posts with full costs over the next few days.

But it’s a mix of the currencies and materials listed below:

Coins
Clams
Stewie Bucks
Wooden Planks
Plastic Tubes
Orange Bricks
Metal Reinforcements
Nails
Red Jackhammer
Red Chainsaw
Green Screwdriver
Blue Hammer
Green Shovels
Blue Axes
Yellow Sanders
Yellow Circular Saws
Yellow Power Drills

A warning though, be careful you don’t rush unlocking without reading the land block pop up as some blocks cost 100 Clams, a few players including me have accidentally spent clams on blocks. I will put up a post marking these blocks later this evening.

What Can I Place In An Alternate Town?

You can place new buildings you can buy in store or any buildings you have in your inventory.

Do I have to use the new feature?

The simple answer is no, you can ignore it if you want, just like QHS.

Will there be more new lands?

Yes, I’m told more lands will come, whether they will be unlocked like the first batch or part of events I don’t know. I’d personally love a Halloween town event.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions!!! Enjoy the new feature when you get it.

  1. Hi. I unlocked Grassland, Stewieland and Winterland. But I can’t buy or unlock any other, only preview. Why?

  3. Hi. I thought I could help listing some of the material requirements to unlock blocks in Winterland for those who are interested in getting more land. It occurred to me quite late, so I can only see the four blocks I have left.

1st row on the left, blocks from top (clams, ‘easiest’) to bottom (most difficult)
    – clams (left too corner)
    – 8 plastic tubes, 6 screwdrivers, 4 hammers
    – 9 blue hammers, 4 yellow sanders
    – 15 blue hammers, 3 red chainsaws (left bottom corner)

4th row on the right: the last one
    – 12 blue axes, 4 red jackhammers (right bottom corner)

The epic items are needed for only one block each, and the drops are quite good actually, so it’s not that hard to get them (plutonium for Stewie was way worse for me). Blue axes and blue hammers seem to be the most required item.
The drops are good in general. Since this is not really a priority for me (but I do want to unlock the blocks so I can store Quakea for a while), I used two charachters for each material, save for the epic ones, for which I used 3. And I’m almost done, so it’s not that hard.
Also, characters drop different materials depending on the outfit they wear, so that will help getting that one item you badly need 🙂
Hope this helps the players who really need the land 🙂

  6. If Quakea is stored, how hard is it to find I if want to place it again? What “area” would it be under?

It’s random where ends up, but if you still need materials just go to one, pick a character tasked to get the material and you can find it from their task. If you’ve no materials needed you’ll need search inventory.

      • Maybe something to suggest to Tinyco/Jamcity is to add in a “search” bar for inventory so you can search for items that you want specifically instead of having to scroll through 100’s of items to find something “in the middle” of all the items you have.
