Death at the Drive-In 101: MAZES MAZES MAZES!!!

Hey there Slashers!

Many times with the New Events I see PANIC. Mostly due to everything is new and no one knows just yet how to get the hang of what is going on. Well, just as usual, here to help in anyway I can with some Basic 101 and detailed breakdown of HOW TO on the aspects of the Game Play.

For this post, I will be diving into the aspects of getting and taking out the Vampire Bats Better as well as corralling other items using a MAZE.

I have been making Mazes and offering tips on them for a long while now. Just keep in mind that this is completely optional for you and up to you to decide to create one in your game.

Now let’s jump on in…

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A MAZE?

Mainly, the purpose is to “direct the flow of traffic” in a sense. You are essentially forcing items walking around your game to follow a specific path, direction, or keep to a specific area as long as you can.

HOW WILL A MAZE HELP ME?

It will help you to focus your Characters to a specific location of the game. This can help you to locate them easier, tap on them easier, and even destroy them easier.

WHAT DO I MAKE A MAZE OUT OF?

Edelweiss Red Flowers  decoration_fourthjulyflower-red@4xBeer RiverBubbling Lava Fence

The best items to use are the smallest ones you can find that fit right up next to one another without allowing any gaps in between.

Items like the following (if you have them): Hedges, Edelweiss, Flowers, Bubbling Lava Fence, Beer River, etc.

ANYTHING that you can see over and around so you know WHAT is following the path of your Maze, and fits one next to another.

HOW DO I MAKE A MAZE?

This part is where it gets a bit crucial and varies. Your Maze needs to have an Entrance point AND an Exit Point. If you skip either one, your Characters and items will just “walk through” the Maze walls instead of keeping to a path.

You want to make sure there is “walking room” in each section. I usually say at least 2 1×1 blocks wide. Enough room for a Character to easily walk. If the walls are too close, they will “walk through” them too.

You do not want to make it TOO long. This also causes items inside to start to “walk through” walls and wander off.

Now that you have a General Idea, let’s look at some HOW-TO’s and Examples…

PREVIOUS MAZES

Below are links to the Mazes I have made in the past and the posts about them.

DEATH AT THE DRIVE-IN MAZES

Similar to past Events, we know the Spawn Point that the majority of items we want to destroy. With this Event, we know the “Hollywood Horrors” like Unholy Nuns & Vampires will come out from the Event Area. For me, this is a good “START POINT” for my Maze.

I already have the Entrance lined with 2 blocks of Road for a “Landing Spot” for my Horrors. This gives me time to line up shots as they are coming out and stop there for Vampires at least.

Let’s make a Maze!

Beginning at the Event Area Road Blocks, I will line both the left and right side of the Roads with my Bubbling Lava Fence (you can use the items YOU have in your game), leaving at least one 1×1 section between the Road and the Fence. (Too close and they’ll walk out.) Then I will continue in front of the Road until I enclosed the area and left only one entrance point into the Maze from the Road.

Event Area Make a Maze

Next, I start creating a Maze. Now again, this is up to your creativity how you do this part. Back and forth works. Up and down. Just remember you are “directing the flow of traffic” into a specific route to make it easier on you to do things like Garlic Bomb Bats.

Maze 1 Create

Maze 1

Now you can keep going in one direction for a lil bit then stop leaving an Exit. Or… you can even start another Maze close by so in case something got past or is already wandering your town, you can try and catch them in another Maze area. Having a Road in the middle will help as Roads draw Characters from your game. Characters in Werewolf form even. I will use the Beer River for this one.

Dual Mazes 2

You can also help to “direct” those wandering to these areas by using your buildings to your advantage and creating a Building path forcing the items to walk INTO the direction of the Maze. Even if they do not go inside, they will still walk around it in one area. Focusing them to a certain path and making them easier targets.

Vampires Werewolves Unholy Nuns following Maze

Just mess around with what works best for you. Keep it simple or go all out. Make it your own.

NOW WHAT?

Now once you have the Maze in place, allow the Characters to get used to the new path and start walking it. This is where you can use it to your advantage. You now have a way of knowing WHERE those Vampires and Werewolves are going to be walking and can focus your attention on them. Vampires & Werewolves will go where the roads are. So they will also follow the path to reach it. That is why a Road in the Center of the Maze helps pull them in.

WerewolfTap on a Werewolf to see if it is the Character you are trying to change, and let the game follow them around in the Mazes until you have a good spot to Place the Silver Cannon. Since you know WHERE they are heading, you can place it right in front of them and wait as they walk into it and then fire on them.

Joe Werewolf in Maze

VampireTap on the Vampires, you will now have more of a controlled area to shoot those Garlic Bombs at and hit more than just one Flock of Bats at a time. The cool thing is now with the Maze in place, when the Flocks of Bats are first released, they will now also follow the Path of the Maze. So now you can know just where to aim your Garlic Bomb and fire on them.

WHY DID MINE WANDER OUT?

As noted above, ensure that the path they walk is wide enough. If it is too close, it forces them out.

See if there is another Road REALLY close by. As Vampires and Werewolves are drawn to Roads, they will seek them out if another is in close range.

There you have it. Some thoughts and Ideas of creating Mazes in your town to Corral & Direct the flow of traffic the Characters & Hollywood Horrors follow in your game.

Hope you dont mind Bun, but I copied your maze, for now. I no have time to create my own original maze lol. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOU DO, DESPITE HOW BUSY YOUR ARE SUPER WOMEN ;). Still about a week from getting Lois at this rate!

Reels just dropped to 25 soda for 10. Or 20 plus 160 popcorns for 12??!?!?!?!
Was 27 and 60. Vs 25 sodas. So random!!

  5. As this will be the first time in events I won’t be ready for the new phase can anyone tell me if I don’t have access to it does it mean I won’t see any of the new content? More interested in the next premium character like Chucky or pinhead. If I don’t hit a certain phase am I unable to buy the premium stuff till o reach that particular phase in the event? I really hope not as I will be gutted if I don’t get all my favourite horror icons. I purchased all of last years and they are the only premium characters I have ever purchased. Thanks

    • Usually the Premium Characters can be seen by all… but it varies each Event. Most of the New Phase Characters you go to work up to as the items to get them are embedded into that Phase as well.

  6. Here’s a great tip!

Make a smaller secondary road as far as possible from the spawn point and corral all the useless Werewolves to it by first removing all the other roads. Once they’re all on the secondary road rebuild the old one. The Werewolves on the secondary road will stay where they are.

To not have Bonnie, Joe, Mort and Quagmire Werewolves mix back in with the other ones, move the buildings they do tasks in near the original road. As you see in this picture I have Joe, Peter, and Quagmire’s houses and Mort’s Pharmacy (Murder Point for Joe is off screen to the right next to the Playground) near my main mazed road to attach them to it.

Now I don’t even have to hunt down those characters to get the Balloons for Nuns from them.

  7. I made a maze after seeing your maze and seeing the effectiveness of the maze idea, However I did a slight twist on it.
I made my maze out of lamp posts.
This has 4 advantages as I see it.
    1. They are tall like large buildings so the bats should not be able to fly over them
    2. Because they are skinny polls you can see right through them so there is no view obstruction like you would get with buildings.
    3. at $100 a pop they are fairly inexpensive to make a long maze.
    4. They look pretty cool.

    • how do I upload a picture of my maze to this website?

    • I use flowerbeds. 20 coins each. Even tho they are low on the ground the bats don’t fly over them. They go around the maze just like if they were tall buildings. As long as there is an exit in the maze, none of the characters walk or fly over the flowerbeds.

  8. I make a “fence” of common buildings about a building length away from a 4 by 4 sidewalk in front of the entrance. . Then I press all the vampires, the bats all go to the right and I deploy a bomb right there at the opening and all the bats go directly into the garlic spray. The bats can’t fly over that tall of a building.

  9. Have you thought about doing a poll?
I still haven’t unlocked or made it to slasher bait lois. Still need to unlock patty as well. Im level 12 already and the costs for reels in the beginning really jacked my game up. This might be the first event that i don’t get to finish.

  11. Bunny, thank you so much for the diagrams. I haver read about people building mazes, but I am much more a visual person, so that sunk it through!

I hope they start late like they did last phase. I just a minute ago got the witch tree, so am just now starting to gather for Lois. 10 popcorn/zero soda/ 2 reels, so it will be a while! Only 8 hours left for Patty, so that is out, but then again, I did not really try for her anyway! LOL

  14. I’m probably 4-5 days behind, of course I’m panicking 🙂

Yeah, I gave up and put a small maze in yesterday, breaking my vow to never make one again. It’s a lovely double hedge version similar to the lava part you’ve posted, I wasn’t taking the chance of the bats passing through a single row like we’ve seen some critters do in the past.

  15. When I’ve been seeing people comment about mazes, I had no idea that this is what they were doing. That’s a cool tip Bunny.

What I personally do is make a wall with my buildings. It works similar to a maze in which it encloses vampires in a small space, but it also keeps the bats enclosed and makes it easy to drop a garlic bomb in the center and get many bat swarms at once. Unlike the mazes, most buildings are tall enough to not allow bats to fly overtop and force them around the buildings. You just have to make sure to use taller buildings that site right up next to each other so there are no gaps.

You can see an example here, although there aren’t vampires in this picture.

I keep the buildings that my werewolf characters use in the far corner with a patch of road next to them. This keeps my vamps separate from the werewolves and lois/slasher cat. Each group has road to walk on but are far enough apart that the creatures don’t travel between road patches. The Nuns just roam all around the town so they don’t get in the way much.

  17. looks like each vampire creates three flocks of bats. Since you can only take out 14/15 max it would seem wasteful to tap on more than 5 vampires at any given time. YMMV.
