District Tan Lines: Feedback Page

Hey there Testers!

I wanted to put up a place for those that are testing out the New District. The main purpose of this post is to give you somewhere to go to leave your main questions, concerns, suggestions, issues, etc for Tan Lines while you play and progress through it all.

Tan Lines Luxury Resort Unlocked

For the Main Details on the Tan Limes District, go HERE and HERE.

Feel free to leave your comments below as needed. I will be passing all this information on to TinyCo to help correct areas of concern and overall improve the Tan Lines District before game wide launch happens.

I will also try to post any feedback or updates from TinyCo on those items in this post. Thanks for helping test out an interesting New District. I know I’m looking forward to it all.

PLAYER FEEDBACK

Remember to be helpful and be detailed with your feedback.  Don’t just say fix something, explain issue and make suggestions for improvement. Feel free to even give kudos to something you really like about it.

I’ll start it out with the #1 thing I am seeing…

Concern/Suggestion: Players don’t like that Characters on Tasks/Checked In at the Tan Lines Resort are showing up in the Character Task Selector Icon in the top left corner. Scrolling past 15+ Characters per floor to find one you actually want on a Task is tedious and time consuming.

Players would like the Characters removed from the Icon to help game experience and save time scrolling through them all.

TinyCo Feedback: They’re aware of the Concern with the Tan Lines Characters showing up in the Icon and are looking into a solution. UPDATE:  “Issue with characters checked into the resort appearing in the character finder will be fixed in version 1.21.0, which will be released in a week”

UPDATED 4/13/16

Concern/Suggestion: Daily Quests not appearing. (FYI, mine finally appeared triggered by Peter, and yes… they will vary by Player)

TinyCo Feedback: This was fixed, but you may need to wait for the next Day Daily Quest to trigger.
***Side Note Bunny: Also try to make sure you do not have TOO many Tasks open preventing it from showing as well as restarting your device to ensure patch is in place.

Concern/Suggestion: With the Stewie Cash Drops being “Chance” and a small amount, some feel the District may go TOO slow in earning items to get to the Evil Monkey, as it will take a lot of exchanging. Can more be given or an ALWAYS drop? Also suggestion of shorter time for the payout?

TinyCo Feedback: Thanks for the Feedback, we will look into it.

Concern/Suggestion: Can we exchange currency down as well as up?

TinyCo Feedback: Thanks for the Feedback, we will inform the team that Players are wanting an option to trade down too.

Concern/Suggestion: Why are some Characters not included as being able to use Tan Lines, Like WrestleMania?

TinyCo Feedback: Certain main characters can’t be checked into Tan Lines to prevent potential blocks. These characters include Peter, Lois, Jerome, Mort, Chris, and Joe. You will also not be able to check in new event-specific characters for the duration of their event. We are working on a fix for not being able to store WrestleMania characters, and it should be pushed by Friday! (4/15)

Concern/Suggestion: Will there ever be a possibility to add Characters to ONLY one level, instead of the system automatically adding them from first to last?

TinyCo Feedback: Thanks for the Feedback, we will look into it.

Concern/Suggestion: Kool-Aid’s Girlfriend is showing as a Clam purchase now and not for Currency for some Players.

TinyCo Feedback: Please send any players reporting this our way! Screenshots would also be very helpful.
***Side Note Bunny: If YOU see this in your game, please report it from your game right away and if possible include a screenshot of it or feel free to email me and I will forward it to TinyCo (familyguyaddicts@gmail.com)

Concern/Suggestion: Players would like to continue to earn keys in advance. Players stating they stop earning them once they meet requirements for a Level, but want to keep earning as they know the next Level needs them.

TinyCo Feedback: This may not be possible as Materials are programmed to not drop if they are not actively needed.
***Side Note Bunny: I agree with this one. I get that it may be cool to keep earning something in advance when you know it is coming up next, but I also have seen the downside of this. To set it to keep going no matter what… downside… it won’t STOP dropping that Material and will keep more cluttering up your Characters Tasks with unnecessary Material drops on Tasks you may need for, say, an Event. I personally think that an “unlimited drop” is a bad idea due to this has happened in the past and it was frustrating.

There you go, a place to voice things you run into as Testers for Tan Lines District. Take your time playing it. No need to rush Districts. Have fun! 🙂

I think it would be great, if the characters checked in could do tasks to earn additional stewie bucks, like 4h task for a green one, 12 hour for gold.
This way, they would have a purpose and help earning stuff needed for characters to unlock (like evil monkey) as in the other districts.

  2. MAJOR PROBLEM
Do not check off or open a new district if your 24hr timer is almost at or near completion this WILL reset this timer and you will get no payout/chance
I thought it was a fluke and I was close to the timer ending on the first day I was up for a chance buck before I saw how the payout was preformed with a chance box above the resort I had just cleared a peace of land and I check it off and started building on it when I went to the resort and was expect my 1st earned buck the timer was near 24hrs again thought was weird but continued with playing my game until just now where I just reached and opened district 9 and I did not realize I was opening it when I hit the open quest for what’s the duece and it open a brought me to the island and had a district 9 is now open banner on it after hitting ok I was still at the resort so I looked in on my 24 buck timer I am 100%sure had less then a hour on it and low and behold it was at 23hr59mins

    Small duecing here
5 – – 24hr buck chance so far for me got shafted out of two no buck award on one period and received one buck each on the others for a a grand total of 2dollars so far….. WTD indeed!

Maybe they could add a way for the resort to recognise characters that are stored and pull them into the resort if we choose rather than having bring them out storage then put the, into the resort.

Good thing is majority are inside with only few animated so not seeing any memory drain or crashing. I would keep it like this.

Maybe bring in a little clam reward, odd drop here or there when you fully fill the resort. Although the planned dail tasks may do this.

Enjoying fact can use lot the characters I just stored.

  4. I think it would be cool, if characters checked in could do tasks to earn stewie bucks, at least as long as the amounts needed to exchange stay that high. So these characters could serve a purpose and help gaining stuff needed for new characters (evil monkey) like in the orher districts.
Maybe 4 hour task for a green, 12 hours for a gold, just an example.

  5. I noticed that when I didn’t have any characters in the resort and reopened the game my timer on the resort restarted.

  6. I’m confused. When you place characters on a floor, how long are they there for? Is it like a timed task, or are they just there until you remove them? There is a timer for the the building, but I don’t see a time for the guests.

  7. Ok so it won’t let me send Jerome to Tanlines. I’d think it was a joke, where black people aren’t allowed there or something, but they let the Cleveland family go there so…. probably a bug.

  8. I have found a bit of a strange bug when taking characters out of my inventory to use in the resort. Sometimes I click too quickly and get an error “trying to unstash a non-stashed character” or words to that effect. My game then restarts and I lose any actions I’ve done since starting the game up. I think it thinks I’m clicking the same character twice in my inventory, though graphically that character is no longer actually there to select. I’ll try to get a screenshot and send it over if I can.

  9. I’m loving the look of it and get a kick out of seeing the characters that are outside running around the island resort, taking pictures, etc. I hope they have more options to earn Green, Blue, Red and Gold Stewie Bucks and maybe hope they re-think the 24 hour timer for 1 Green Stewie Buck for the Lobby and maybe put it to if you keep the Lobby maxed with the 15 characters you get 15 Green Stewie Bucks at the end of a 4, 6 or even an 8 hour timer. Goodness my town is so busy right now. After I have a character get done with a task for the wrestling event I have them relax at the resort. I cant help but giggle cuz I see some of the characters looking like how people would look at the resort….the ones I can see at least. Ones taking pictures, ones running around and Quagmire is flashing the one taking pictures. I find it amusing. Keep up the good work Bunny and Alissa!!!!

  10. Just to be clear, is it actually “a chance” to get Stewie Bucks from each floor, or has everyone else been getting a full payout each time. I got a full payout from the first floor each day when it was the only one I had running, but since I unlocked the second floor, I have yet to get a payout from both at once. Only 2 SB each time, rather than the 3 from a full payout. Anyone else seen this?

  12. I didn’t get my Stewie Buck today 😦 …. so I only have 2 in 3-24 hr periods 😦 … At this rate, I will be dead before Tan Lines is ever finished. I realize it is a forever task, but geesh! Honestly, unless we get more bucks and a reduction in the required amount of keys, I won’t be playing this part of the game and I have been a real addict since the beginning. Sigh.

  13. I’ve noticed that some of my characters aren’t listed to be able to go to Tan Lines despite roaming free. Is there a restriction that I missed? I also still don’t have daily tasks despite a full lobby. Is there an action that triggers daily tasks?

  15. So, if this is a new “district” why can’t I place decorations and buildings on it? If you’re redefining what District means in the UI for love of our UX please choose 1 True meaning for 1 True in Game term.

    Like

    • A District has NOTHING to do specifically with Buildings being placed on it. It is essentially a “New Part” of the game that is locked in the game to stay as long as the game is in existence. They are not limited, have no expiration date, and usually launch New Characters into the game. Same as a “New Level” in other games. Where does it state that Districts MUST be able to have a Building placed on them?

If you don’t like it, why are you even complaining to me in the first place? I don’t make the game, I don’t run the game, I don’t make the rules. I only provide a great site of help to other Players. Take nit picky complaints like that to those that control the game… TinyCo… instead of coming to a helpful site ran by helpful people on their own time and “trolling” comments with a complaint that have nothing to do with us and quite frankly just seems like a silly thing to bring up in the first place. 😉

      Like

      • Bunny, I’m not trolling. I know you’re not Tiny Co but you can’t pick and chose what is meaningful when you state. “I will be passing all this information on to TinyCo to help correct areas of concern and overall improve the Tan Lines District before game wide launch happens.” My feedback is to call it an area since user experience to this point is a district allows you fundamentally to either A. Unlock land or B. Place items on it. I understand your definition given but no other District does not have either A or B I would simply call it something else. Travel to Districts don’t even behave like this one.

        Like

        • And I’m saying each District is unique in its own regard. Players wanted the water used. This gave that in a way. Players wanted a place to put unused Characters to use so they don’t sit I storage. This gave that. I’m saying it’s being nit picky to say “it’s not a District because it’s different and no land” is silly. TinyCo has NEVER been the norm in their game. Always changing. Always improving. Always finding ways to bring new ideas into play. Things rarely fit a mold. So a simple name tag like District is just fine.

Fine Arts we used the Blimp on the water and it left. Same with Blimp District. We had a perfume Factory, Pawtucket Brewery Craft Building, Zombie Portal. So many variations.

Then there’s the other part I keep addressing… it’s in BETA. Whose to say “this is all you get” until it’s done and launched live? I get that YOU feel it’s doesn’t fit your “idea of a District” and what it should be… but regardless, that’s what it is. It does meet the District set up in that all Districts are here to stay and unlimited time for players. Other than that, wait and see what the Testing brings once it goes live for all. 😉

  17. Wrong Payout Location?
Since the WWE event doesn’t require build time, I’ve been chipping away at clearing the ‘extra’ land that TinyCo gifted us a while back. Since the Tan Lines story has popped up, I’ve cleared two blocks. Each time I tap the check mark to clear the block at the end of the timer the $ and XP drop from the resort. (Nowhere near my land blocks.) I also think this might be affecting my resort’s 24 hour timer. After the cash drops at that location my timer is just shy of 24 hours again. I’d test this theory another day – but I’m out of land to clear.

    Like

    • Very Odd one there. Definitely in game message that to them please.

    • I’ve notice the same thing as I’ve been clearing land as well. Haven’t had much of a chance to explore the new area – been focused on the WWE event, so only Shamus and Tricia are earning keys. Nice to be included in a beta test!

  18. My solution to the #1 annoyance of this beta is to check in characters to Tan Lines Resort starting from the end of alphabets. So , I’ve checked in Wolfdog Quagmire , Westley , Mr Washee Washee , Vinny.. And so on, you get the idea.

I see that Evil Monkey has become available for 240 blue s.bucks and 3 gold s.bucks.
Has anyone else done the math on this?
If I am right it would take just shy of 6 years!!
    Please tell me I’m wrong.
Note there are daily tasks to be introduced at some point so they may have a huge payout or TinyCo will lower the cost.
Either way lets see what the next six years bring!

It is a District. It is meant to take time. Just in testing right now, so not sure on actuals. I don’t want to spend a TON of Clams on a test so I am taking it a bit slowly. To skip a level and jump up can be 1000+ Clams per floor. So you can see why I want to take time. 😉

There is also supposed to be more to come for it, like Daily Tasks.

    • You can purchase him with clams. Only 12,702 clams. But, it is nice to know it is not a timed event.

  20. Issue: If you use Facespace to locate a character which is in the resort, you get varying results. In my testing, if the character is visibly performing a task on the resort island, the screen zooms in on him/her correctly. If the character is not visible, the screen zooms in on the trees to the East of normal available land.

  22. I like that the characters at the resort seem to rotate through their different costumes/activities on the island. I’ll bet we see some really strange screen shots of them.
Like the others, I’m glad to have something for these characters to do. I’ve only bought one with claims, but he’s never been useful for anything.

  23. I like the resort/island, but I definitely see it as a long term project (like the Springfield Heights addition to TSTO, though otherwise pretty different).

I am still on the first level of the resort, and I have to hope/assume you will be able to earn more and more Stewie bucks as you open more levels. Otherwise, getting the evil monkey will take roughly ten years. (240 blue plus 3 gold bucks cost 3600 basic green Stewie bucks)

I love the random animations on the island. Usually we have little to no visual candy when giving tasks to multiple characters at a single location.

Suggestions: Make it clearer that certain characters have to do tasks for the keys. Initially, I thought that their tasks were part of their occupation of the resort, i.e. that assigning them to the resort earned the keys. Meaning, I foolishly lost 24 hrs before I started trying to earn keys.

Concern: Will every resort level use 15 characters? While I have a lot of characters (over 130), I’m pretty sure I’m going to run out before all levels are filled, especially with various ongoing events using characters as well.

Related question: Do lower levels have to be filled before upper levels can be used? e.g. Do I have to have a full 15 characters on level 1 before I can use level 2?

    Like

    • I just reread your general post and found most of my answers. Lower has to fill before upper. More characters per level by 3rd level. More bucks per 24 hrs of full upper levels.

I’m definitely going to run out of usable characters before filling the upper levels as it seems right now.

Like others, once a character has maxed out on XP, I tuck him/her in my inventory.
What would be nice is if TinyCo could make Tan Lines like an XP nursery whereas whilst a character is checked in they receive XP at a reduced rate, say 50%. I.e. for every 24hr spent there they would gain 50XP rather than the 100XP + $$ that would have been earnt had the player sent the character on a 24hr task.
Also as I tuck characters away I sometimes miss characters that have tasks that earn stuff. If these characters could automatically be taken out of storage when stuff can be collected.

Also as others havd said the icon in the top left needs to go if they are checked it.
I have also removed all but a few pieces of road to find people faster, as a side affect tapping fans during an exhibition match is damned site easier (especially if it’s next to the ring!!)

Keep up the good work, I know I’ll always find help here.
TinyCo didn’t even consider putting a section in the ingame help explaining the beta test for those selected so we could give direct feedback!

  26. It looks like you could buy the new currency with clams. What about exchanging coins for it as well? The rate could be really high, but it’s better than nothing and three permanent currencies is a bit much, in my opinion, especially when one’s basically useless after a point.

Yay, finally I’m chosen for something. It’s a cool District and I like the look of the island. It’s good that old characters finally have a use here. Don’t have many complaints, except the character task section, but they are fixing that.

The other thing is, it would be cool to be able to place decos on the island. I tried with a tree, but it didn’t work. I only glanced over the 2 other posts so sorry if you mentioned this already. Is this something they might add later on? Suppose it already has trees, but it would be fun to be able to personalise the island. Unless you CAN with the “event” items, but I haven’t got anything yet…

Maybe a couple more ways to earn Stewie Bucks, like let’s say via a task performed by Stewie himself?

Other than that, it’s a cute update!

  28. Here’s something I like about this district. You don’t have to wait 24hrs to check out a player. They can be checked out if needed at any time, and you can put a different one in it’s place and it not reset the 24hr timer or mess up your chance at earning Stewie Bucks. Well done TinyCo!

  31. I think, other than the obvious issue you mentioned, I don’t like having to take the character out of storage for them to be placed. If my characters aren’t doing things, they are stored if their level is maxed. In general, I wish the inventory would stay open until you close it.

    • Completely agree with Rebekah here. Although now that I know that just about any character can check in I just take a few out at a time. I took every character out of my storage because i wasn’t sure who could check in. Took almost 10 mins to put them all back. haha

It’s good though that I can finally put some of the Christmas, Star Trek, American Dad, and other pointless/useless characters I’ve accumulated over the years to some use, even if it is just moving them from one repository to another.

  33. hello! I am testing the new district and I do not like the occupants showing on the upper left like they aren’t doing anything. I can’t control my other players easily … it’s a mess. I’d like to think that if I want to interrupt a resort visitor, I am smart enough to tap on the resort to put that character back into action. I hope they revise their opinion and provide instructions to people to pull them out by tapping on the resort. Thanks for this forum so we can voice our feedback. Otherwise, I am liking the new district, but as always, wish the drop rate and prize rate (monopoly bucks) were higher/better :).

Agree with the comments about it being frustrating that you have to click past all the characters. A little while ago I took out a lot of my roads as it makes it easier during some events. It is also helpful here as all the free characters go back to the road so it’s easier to select them for tasks.

I keep all my characters in inventory unless they’re needed for tasks or something. So I proceeded to pull out the first 15 of them that were in my inventory to put in the lobby floor and Joe and Mort didnt show up on the list. They were just wandering the streets. Now, that could be intentional because they could be used for training in the WWE event. Just wanted to pass it along or see if others could send them into the hotel.
As always, great job Bunny and co.

    • I too noticed a couple of people that didn’t show up. Mort and Joe being them. This prompted me to then take ALL my people out of storage, but then I saw where most of the rest could check in. Maybe they will have this smart enough to keep characters that could be used in an event from being able to be checked in.

  48. I have a few questions:
    1) How many ways can we earn stewie bucks? All I can see is from unlocking the levels since I don’t see the daily quest yet.
    2) Once the next level is unlocked, does the previous level still need the characters or can I use them for the new level?
    3) Once all levels are unlocked, what happens? Does it start over in order to earn more bucks? Do we leave it in order to earn more when we collect rent?

    Like

    • 1. I noted this in the overview post, but right now all I see as I am going through it is the Floor Payouts. There is Daily Quests that look to be something they are working on still and not live yet. Then there is also an occasional random questline that payout could be Stewie Bucks.

      2. You have to FILL the building. So each floor has to be filled before moving to the next. “Add Characters” does not allow option to place them on specific floors. It is all random.

      3. I will let you know when I get there. I don’t think spending thousands of Clams to rush a testing District is worth it. I want to go through each level in a timely manner so I don’t miss anything. I only have it in one game, so if I miss something I cant go back to retest it.

  49. I am enjoying the process so far and really like that there is a place for some of these characters to live! I agree with your concern, and find that to be the largest complaint I had. I would suggest that they make it a little more clear that you need to collect keys and how to do that. I only found out by touching a key icon and getting the character options there.

  50. If you want to swap out a character from the resort, does the timer start again from the beginning when you top the number of characters back up to 15?

    Like

    • In my game, no. It kept going.

      Like

      • So does this mean that you only need 15 characters on the floor when timer expires and can have the floor vacant until that time?

        Like

        • If it stays that way, yes. Biggest thing is you MUST make sure that it shows next to the room “Chance Of:” and the Stewie Buck amount with the check mark. If that does NOT show, you will get nothing when the payout hits. I am still messing around with it myself and testing it. Keep an eye on that wording if you are Checking Characters in and out constantly.

TinyCo may also change it as we are only in Testing right now. Live version may vary a little.
