Cone out, Come out wherever you are. Come on munchkins show yourselves!!!
Yes, it’s those cute little munchkins that put the merry in the merry old land of Oz. But when things turn all green and ghastly and things get tough, well the munchkins got to get tougher. And to do this they need to attend the world-renowned Munchkin Academy. Okay I may be exaggerating the merits of the Munchkin Academy, but we got to make it attractive to those munchkins or they may just head for Harvard.
So let’s take a closer look at the Munchkin Academy that was released in Week 1 of There’s No Place Like Quahog and see exactly what it does.
WHAT THE HECK IS THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY?
This is where your average everyday munchkin goes to get a battle upgrade.
WHERE WILL I FIND THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY?
Well if you follow the yellow brick road someday you’ll find it. No seriously it’s in the event and area and you can see exactly what it looks like in the picture above.
WHY DO I NEED THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY?
Because your bog standard everyday munchkin isn’t tough enough to battle the evils that have invaded Quahog from Oz. At the moment there’s only Flying Monkeys to deal with but even they need an upgraded Banana Munchkin to act as a decoy to clear them from our towns. In the coming weeks there will be other evils arriving and new types of munchkins will be needed to fight them off, so the Munchkin Academy is going to be train, train, training
HOW DO I TRAIN A MUNCHKIN AT THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY?
At the moment there’s only 1 kind of munchkin training available. This training creates a Banana Munchkin.
To train a Banana Munchkin you firstly need to collect 1 banana from the many characters or buildings that drop them. Once you have a banana you need to go to the Munchkin Academy in the event area. it looks like this when it’s not in use.
The exclamation mark above the Munchkin Academy denotes that there are no munchkins in training so there will be plenty of spaces available to train our Banana Munchkins.
Tapping on the Munchkin Academy will bring up the training screen, and if you have bananas available you simply need to tap train and you will see a Banana Munchkin training in one of the available spaces, with a timer telling you how long until he’s complete.
Banana Munchkins take 1 hour 30 minutes to train. However the new types of munchkins that will become available to train in weeks 2 and 3 will probably take different amounts of time.
WHAT ARE TRAINING SPACES AT THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY?
There are 6 training spaces showing, so you would think this is the maximum munchkins you can train at anyone time, but no, we are currently only able to use 4 of these spaces.
TinyCo should perhaps have put a visual lock on the 2 end spaces to save any confusion as to why we can’t fill all the spaces showing. But I’m not finding any problems training enough Banana Munchkins with only 4 slots. I’m presuming the 2 slots I’ve marked with an X will open up in Week 2 or 3. We shall see.
WHAT IS THE CAPACITY OF THE MUNCHKIN ACADEMY
You will see the academy capacity in the top right corner of the training screen, you will see the capacity of the Munchkin Academy at this time is 8, this means you can only have a total of 8 created and/or Banana Munchkins in training at any time. If your capacity is showing full, you can free up capacity by using some of your Banana Munchkins to shoo away some Flying Monkeys. This capacity may increase in Weeks 2 & 3, we shall find out once Week 2 content hits later in the week.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN MY MUNCHKIN’S TRAINING IS COMPLETE?
The training academy looks like this when munchkins are in training.
When a munchkin has completed its training you will see the check mark above your training academy.
Clicking on the check mark will complete the training and provide you with at this time a Banana Munchkin, ready for you to unleash on those pesky Flying Monkeys. I’m looking forward see what we will be training in Weeks 2 and 3 let me tell you.
There you have it, all the facts to date about the Munchkin Academy. What are your thoughts on it? Have you started to use it yet ? If so, are you enjoying this silly addition to our games? Have you any thoughts of what kind of munchkin we’ll be training next? Any tips for fellow Players? Let us know.
