Where the Hell….? G.I. Jew, Baby Heimlich & Pound Pooches

Toys are falling, all around us, Heimlich’s  choking, having fun, ’tis the season of love and….., oh sorry there I go again, mind wandering off in any old direction. A bit like Peter’s mind when he’s supposed to be concentrating on the job. Why do I keep going back to toys, well it’s because a bizarre bunch of them have  only gone and been delivered to Quahog as part of the Quahog’s Not So Silent Night.

Now many of you will probably recognise some of these toys, although hopefully not from your Christmas stockings, but just exactly where have we seen these bizarre toys before? Well in the Family Guy TV show of course. They actually all made their an appearance in the very first episode, so we’re going to need to cast our minds way back to January 1999. Wow!!!

So join me on a journey to a toy factory like no other as we stroll through a bizarre toy story Family Guy style.

Death Has A Shadow – Season 1, Episode 1

This is the episode where we first see the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory, where Peter was employed as a Safety Inspector. Can’t see that causing chaos can you?

Anyhow we get to meet G.I. Jew when his creator Johnson proudly shows him off to Mr Weed. The G.I. Jew toy is seen with a rifle in one hand and a bagel, yes you read that right, a bagel in the other, and he utters the battle cry of, “You call this a bagel”. Yes Johnson, we are indeed glad this G.I. is on our side.

Moving on, we start to see why having Peter as your Safety Inspector is never a good idea. After a hard night drinking he falls asleep on the job and this sees some unfortunate incidents involving some of the toys made at the factory, and these are the other toys we received as prizes in the Weekly Challenges, namely Pound Poochies and Baby Heimlich.

Every kid in Quahog wants a Pound Poochie, but what you want and what you get are two different things when Peter messes us. With Peter asleep at the conveyer belt some very strange things are passing through quality control unchecked. We see just how badly Peter has boobed when we see a young lad excitedly opening his Pound Poochie gift box only to find its full of prescription pills instead.

And if that’s not bad enough, just look at what’s happened to Baby Heimlich, the doll that eats, drinks and eh chokes on its food. The doll is obviously named after the Heimlich manoeuvre that is necessary to “save” the baby from choking. And if this on its own wasn’t weird enough, Peter’s negligence only goes and sees a doll fitted with a flame thrower sent to a little girl, who upon doing the Heimlich manoeuvre on her new doll, watches as flames shoot out from its mouth.

And to think Peter wondered why he got fired, lol.

So there you have it, a little glimpse into the episode that brought us G.I. Jew, Pound Poochies and Baby Heimlich. Do you remember this episode? Or have you never seen it? Do you now plan to watch it? And do any of you know the other toy made at the factory?
