It’s… Daniel-san! Banzai!!!
With this new Kung Pow Quahog event, we also get some New Characters. Characters like the underdog, Daniel LaRusso!
Let’s take a look at what Daniel LaRusso can do in our silly lil games.
Daniel LaRusso is a Character added during Kung Pow Quahog in 2017. As with (almost) all Characters in TQFS in order to unlock him you’ll have to collect lots of STUFF.
First though, you had to get the Cherry Tree in the Event Area repaired so you could get him out. It costs $10 & takes 10s to unlock. When you unlock him this will trigger his 7 day timer! Note that you will be prompted to unlock him at Mojo in the Dojo Pt. 4.
With him now visible in front of the Cherry Tree, you can tap on the Lock Icon to see just what is required to bring him into your game.

11 Hand Drums: (Rare) Get from Jerome Learn Taiko OR Jean Claude Van’s Vans OR Poor Pagoda
20 Car Wax (Common): Get from Mort Wax Old Cars OR School of Martial Farts
19 Paint Brushes (Uncommon): Clear Nerds
Unlock the Tweenage Ninja Tortoises
1 Ramen Cup: Defeat Mr. Washee Washee
Once you had all his Requirements checked off, the Unlock Icon appeared over his head. Tapping on it brought him into your game as a Character.
He does come with a Questline, Karate Kidding, more on it in a later post.
Daniel is also part of a clam collection, The Best Around. Collection of all characters will award 10 
Clams.
Daniel does come with a complete set of Tasks! Tasks that will help you earn $$$ & XP. He can also help you to fight Nerds!

**Note: Within an Event, tasks may change and vary as the Phases come and go. So some of these tasks will be temporary. Others may be one time use. Some will stick around even after the Event. We won’t know until the Event Ends.

Daniel has been stuck at 4/12 health for days. Anyone know WHY?!! I need him at full health to fight Mr. Miyagi!!

Because health does not start to heal until your fighter is at 0 health, he can still attack Mr Miyagi with 4/12 health. Until his health is 0/12 he won’t heal.

Intentionally delayed triggering him and got him yesterday. Since then he’s killing nerds and has already earned more than the 250 belts needed for Mr Washee Washee so now I got two brand new characters, awesome! 😉
I’ll be doing the same with the timed character this week, just waiting for Quagmire’s skin to complete and then I can easily defeat Samurais with him and Peter and hopefully get that character too. Who can then in turn fight Samurais to get enough belts for Mr Miyagi, another two characters. 🙂
I really like TinyCo offering characters for event currency particularly since you normally end up with an unnecessary stockpile of week one and two currency anyways. Happy days 🙂

how do you beat washee without daniel unlocked? if you need to beat him 4x doesn’t his health reset during peters 7 hour heal? seems impossible without spending clams

No, his health doesn’t reset so you can take as long as you want between the attacks without worrying.

Awesome! Just beat Washee Washee had 11 riceballs, go to buy the turtles and now I only 5. Problem is I didn’t buy it. It’s not in my inventory and it’s still available to purchase. It was the last thing I needed to unlock Daniel-san and I only have 4 hours on timer. Nicely done Tiny Co.

what happens if the countdown ends and he is unlocked?? It resets??

If the countdown ends and he is NOT unlocked, he goes away and will not return. He is limited time.
As so as he is unlocked, there is no need any longer for a countdown

My question really relates to Mr Washee Washee and Daniel’s place in the game: will Mr Washee Washee leave the fight circle entirely once I enter Phase 2 or will he continue to appear to be battled by Daniel (since that’s all he can do along with Nerds) in Phase 2? Thanks!

Mr Washee Washee does leave the game, as Mr Miyagi then becomes the next villan we fight and Daniel can battle him, so he will still be useful.

Cool. I saw a comment elsewhere bemoaning that Daniel didn’t do anything in the new phase except Nerds. Glad he can fight Mr. Miyagi. That is helpful.

He’s voiced in my game. I haven’t unlocked him, but he speaks when I tap him to view his dilemma. Seems to be from an alternate reality though as he doesn’t look or sound like the movie character to me!

I’m glad I unlocked him, my only complaint is that he doesn’t have a event related task for drops and he can’t be used for fights past week 1.
