4th of July Results and a New Poll About Stewie

Hello There Clammers!

Well, Stewie has finally arrived in Quahog, and  we want to know YOUR thoughts about what it takes to unlock him as well as share the results of last week’s 4th of July Event Poll!

First the new stuff….this week we want to know what YOU think about what it takes to unlock Stewie.  If you don’t see your answer in the poll, feel free to mention it down in the comments below:

Now let’s get to the results of the 4th of July Event Poll…

Wowsa, you guys really love giving your opinions…and we really love listening to them!  Another poll where so many of you responded!  So, thank you for taking the time to give your feedback.  As you know by now, we share all results of our polls directly with TinyCo & I like to think YOUR feedback helps inspire them to tweak and perfect this game we’re all loving!  (like this poll about STUFF & Drop rates, and TinyCo’s response to it 🙂 )

So here we are with another poll where the results mimicked your comments!  Many of you expressed a “Meh” feeling about the 4th of July update & that’s how it played out in the results.

So now let’s get to the numbers….

What Are Your Thoughts About the 4th of July Event?

37%- Meh, it was ok. Somethings I loved, somethings I hated.
29%- Loved It!
23%- I liked it, but it wasn’t long enough.
6%- I disliked it because it wasn’t like enough.
5%- Hated It!

All in all it looks like you guys did enjoy the event, but would have enjoyed it more if there were a few tweaks here and there.  It was nice to see so few players disliking (or hating) the event.  Looks like this was a successful event for TinyCo, but they could still use a few tweaks here and there to it.  🙂

  1. i totally agree with Cole! I think this game as with any should be enjoyed, not rushed! It is not like Stewie is limited time! Sheesh!

  2. I don’t understand being upset about it taking too long to unlock someone or something (like stewie). I play this game as a way to kill some spare time or relax a minute while at work. If I have everything unlocked and owned I have no reason to open the game, it makes it boring. I love working on falconer, Carter, stewie, and pbj, makes the game with playing! My two pennies 🙂

  3. Any early indication if there will be a midnight Friday release of anything this weekend? A clam sale or a builder sale might net tinyco some cash from cheapskates like myself who only spend real cash when it seems like we’re getting a deal. Maybe throw in a bonus plutonium task on a character like consuela or buzz to further incentivize the flow of cash.

    • Right now…nothing on the horizon…but that doesn’t mean TinyCo couldn’t spring a little sneaking sneak something on us. But my guess..since our plates are pretty full right now…not likely. 😉

  4. This site has helped me get King Butt and even let me know to check my stuff for Cleveland’s house..thanks. Love the layout of the new district and the fact that it will take me awhile to get everything…unlike the eyeballs that took 5-6 weeks to get 3, I have been getting the items I have been going after at a steady rate..should have the two costumes and Carter before next Friday and Stewie should take a few weeks more. I do have some suggestions (yes most have been brought up before but…). First is most characters don’t have an item to go after, We are far enough that Peter shouldn’t be needed for more than one item…give Tricia some love!! ..as for premium characters..why not give them a chance to go after an item..you should let people that spent clams feel like it was worth it (and I am mostly freemium..so far) Second recommendation would be visiting friends…besides the 1 clam from Ollies world is it even worth having friends..for a few coins? ..I am not saying that you should get clams there as well but random epic or rare items on occasion would definitely make it worth it. 3rd..the premium buildings with a special item drop..really? If the building isn’t a very cool looking one it comes across as a waste of a purchase..maybe something that drops random items..so they will actually be useful a few weeks later. 4th..(everyone has brought it up..but) new way to get friends besides facebook..noone wants to fb friend a random stranger for a game…5th…and final for now.. although I completely enjoyed the Full Moon event..it kinda sucks for any of the players that went completely die hard and only got half of the prizes..seriously even if they made it so anyone who plays multiple times a day could win everything..their sells on the extras wouldn’t hurt…seriously there are both impatient tappers(ie everyone who is upset in here about how long it will take to get Stewie even knowing it will probably be a month or so until the next district) and completionist as well as people that need to play catchup. Anyway thanks again for all the updates and will be checking in daily to see if you have come across any new news or secrets

    • In regards to friends dropping items:

It could potentially create an un-level playing field. Games that give you an advantage based on how many friends you have (or collected off of a website) are pretty awful in my book.

I’m biased because I despise facebook and twitter and I don’t have many friends who play FGG, but I’m sure people have similar feelings and opinions on the “more friends more rewards” policy.

Now I know there are plenty of counter arguments along the avenue of ‘but it’s not multiplayer’ but that’s why I said potentially!! 🙂

      • “Friend share” most likely will not happen…due to unfair advantages by those with “altered” games. My opinion anyway from seeing other games go same routes.

        Like

    • Oh I forgot to mention your other suggestions are very solid.

      Like

      • Thank you. No I agree friend share is not a good idea. What I was saying it seems somewhat pointless to go to a friend’w Quahog for up to a few coins and was looking for a non clam solution (lets face it..they are not going to give us clams for everything we do). So my solution was a random item that would drop instead of a coin and I am not saying it has to be done that often. As for it being an unfair advantage..right now that we are stuck with only being allowed facebook friends I agree but once they come up with some nickname system anyone can load up on friends (currently on fb out of 250 fb friends I have a grand total of 3 people that are playing this game…at least connected to fb). After a friend fix is made they could also create friends only items that you have to get lucky and get all the items to from your friends. So basically after they do a fix I can’t see it being a disadvantage to have friends only items being it will be your choice to have friends or not at that point lol. Thank you Bunny and Kittenbones for the feedback

          • Haha very good idea. Friends-only items could actually do with some exploring.

You couldn’t require friends for costume/character unlocks due to the above mentioned reasons AND the fact that some people just don’t have friends. Anti-social? Unlikable? Picky? There are tons of reasons that people like to keep to themselves and minimize outside contact. How about this though:

We have seen clam gambling, we have seen coin gambling, and we have even seen booty gambling (I referred to the butt currency as ‘fencing’ currency 🙂 ). What if friends had a chance, including Ollie, to drop a type of ‘friend-coin’. They could then incorporate a ‘friend-coin’ gambling system with fun and aesthetic rewards, VERY similar to the Mystery Box prizes, but more…mild. They could even have COIN rewards from this type of gambling.

It could be permanent, or it could come and go with certain events, but that way you wouldn’t be crippling while simultaneously being rewarded for having and visiting friends.

  5. I’m liking the new district but most of the new buildings seem outrageously priced at 20k+ especially coming off of the 4th of July event having to spend alot on the mystery box.

    • Like most games that have a level up aspect, the further you go, the more expensive the ride.

    • I’m seeing a lot of these types of posts. The mystery box, in my opinion, was strategically placed for that exact reason. It’s so easy to blow 200k (Cyber 😉 ) trying to get a dollar worth of clams and some fireworks when you’ve been sitting on 500k for a month. Hell, I had 120k and I gambled away about 50 of it.

It was optional but it was gambling. People love to gamble. Even more so when you can’t ‘lose’. Unless losing is being broke for the new district 🙂

Next time we can gamble with coins, I’ll be a little bit more weary!!!

As an American, I enjoyed the 4th of July update. Even bought the elephant and donkey with clams. I’m still irritated by the number of rare/extra rare stuff– 110 total– not counting the common stuff which takes awhile, too, because the tasks to acquire them range from 12-20 hours– to unlock Stewie and decided not to spend a single clam this update (which is how TinyCo makes money). As a premium player, I buy clams to support the game but if they continue to turn off premium players, the game won’t last as only freemium players will play the game and their revenue will be zilch.

  8. I’m personally liking the pacing for getting stewie. After the mad rush of the moon event I don’t have to worry about leaving vital characters idle if I’m too busy to log on.

Iv cleared all the current land on the right and slowly building my amusement area. Saving up for the zoo so I can have fun land, seven flags and the zoo close to each other with carousels dotted around.

Also like to say great job on the blogs. I don’t comment often but I check daily to see if there’s anything new to read.

  10. I am so happy with the new stuff! I am a day 1 freemium player and, after the full moon event, I had hit a wall. I was max level, had no tasks left, and over 300k with nothing to spend it on. This massive expansion gave me 2 more characters to work on, new outfits, plenty of land, and fun new unique buildings to dress up my town. I’m out of cash again and have to wait before I can build something! I bet I won’t be bored for a month with all the stuff that’s coming up and by that time tinyCo will probably have new stuff! Very satisfied player over here guys!!

  11. By 6.00 CET this was left to finish the district:
    Falconer: 170 clams
    PB&J: 690 clams
    Carter: 72 clams
    Stewie 1097 clams.

Chicken wings was the easiest, still fighting hard for some stuff like bags to the Falconer, plutonium for Stewie and the maraccas for PB&J.

I love the slow tempo since the pyramid event was stressed. I still play everyday but not as frequent as in the event.

I wish one thing really strong. I thought a lot about it, and it seemed like Tinyco was heading in the right direction during 4th of July-event. Why don’t our premium characters like Consuela, BDH, Jake, King Butt or Killington give us som rare stuff? One Extra rare item per character would be reasonable. We paid for them but they’re pretty useless since then.

Love the game more now than under the pyramid event. 🙂

    • Being a premium player too and having all the characters, I too wish at times I got a little more bang for my clam buck. It would be more of an incentive for others to acquire them. And since we all play individual games, it couldn’t be argued that we were given an unfair “advantage” over another player because there is no competition, no race where a level playing field must be maintained. Now if we all were actively fighting it out in a common arena, then yes, of course I would defend the status quo. 😉

      Like

      • Is it a global distinction that the second you make an in game purchase, you are a premium player?

Because some could argue that SPENDING a clam makes you premium (strictly based on the fact that it’s impossible to know if somebody bought Family Jewels with ‘free clams’ or purchased ones etc)
        .

        What about exceptions like:
        – The early quest in the game where you get free clams if you buy coins or something (I can’t remember but it was like 4.99 or 9.99 worth)
        – Someone REALLY likes pLace, and regardless of their maraca count, they purchased it.
        – You’ve already unlocked Adventure Peter and Cleveland, but you wanted Ricky’s Cantina and the stall that drops snakes.

Personally, I haven’t made an actual in game purchase, but I have premium content (3/4 premium characters and a Family Jewels). I like being labeled a freemium player, but I’m about to give up my title because I really want to support Tinyco and purchase some clams. I will say that I refuse to rush any tasks, outright buy ‘stuff’, or speed unlock a character/costume/building.

This was just a casual rant, I’d like to hear other opinions on the topic.

Oh, and I’m not foreshadowing an all out war between the two factions.
We all know who would win. Whatever team Alissa is on (that will also be my team).

Told ya Alissa, I’m fully committed to tipping the scales in your favor over Bunny.

Cyber can hold the scales. 🙂 DEFENDER OF THE STATUS QUO!!!!!

        • I’m no expert, mind you…but the generally excepted distinction between a “Freemium” player and a “Premium” player (in games that are first offered as “free” downloads), is when a player sends “real” money to the company that created said game. Even a few bucks….will change your title. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t view it as two factions per se, just two different gaming choices. I play some games free and some I pay. Freemiums are needed as a good source of free advertisement. If they like a game, they tell others, thus increasing the potential premium pool. And Premiums help keep the lights on. 😉

I agree. Premium players are those who have spent real money on the game. I’ve spent $50 so far but I spent 10x more on Tapped Out though. I have an entertainment allowance ($50 per month for movies, games, music downloads, etc.).

          • Hmmm, I’ll be premium soon then. I don’t want to contribute to a power outage by not contributing!!!

I’ll probably grab pLace and Buzz after I finish the district! Then while my wallet is open, I’ll spend 99.99 on 65k coins (LOL!!)

What’s up with that btw? 🙂

  16. I would enjoy the game a lot more if there was a shake-to-collect feature. The few minutes I get to spend here and there are wasted collecting coins…

    Like

    • I was kind of explaining this to someone else. A quick collect option would be cool, the issue lies in that so many different “collects” are tied to more than just money and XP. They are tied to unlocks, level ups, collections, dialog, and tasks to characters…etc. So if it collected ALL at once, mass chaos would ensue and possibly crash the game as all the dialog and info was triggered at exact same time. Make sense?

They may find other ways to give a similar feature. For now, I don’t mind the tap. Otherwise I would have nothing much to do.

  19. I have taken your poll. If you want it back drop off a paper bag full of clams in the usual spot. 😀
I don’t mind having to wait to unlock Stewie. This gives me time to recoup from spending all those coins on the mystery box. I never did get any clams. I got 3,000 coins twice though, and the fireworks help to fill in some of the odd squares in between buildings. I have a lot of fireworks lol. Plus when you harvest your coins they sometimes go off which is kind of cool. I do wish they had brought out the costumes earlier before unlocking the district though since some characters pull double duty on some of the items. Like Jerome with the various box. Makes it hard to concentrate on one thing. I enjoyed the Fourth of July event too. Thought it was nice to be able to finish it fairly fast after playing for hours and still not getting 80’s Cleveland. I was this close… Oh well hope they bring him back sometime.
While I’m here a quick question. When I visit my friends their lighthouses are animated but mine aren’t. My question of course is why does TinyCo hate me? 🙂 . I’m guessing it’s like this for everyone but I’m curious.

    • NO CLAMS FOR YOU!!! 😛

Yes, YOU and YOU ALONE are hated by TinyCo…they have singled you out…for that one time…you did that one thing…and whackyness ensued. 😉

Sometimes you see items “come to life” when you visit that you don’t in your own. It could be an issue with the memory it takes to make the game tick. Too much going on in your town at once will crash it. You usually only visit neighbors for a short trip, so animation here n there is an easier thing.

Hope that makes sense. If not, well… MLEH 😛

    • When the mystery box came out, everybody was all ‘yay, thanks TinyCo! woo-hoo, coins!’

But I saw the coins mystery box as a way to bleed currency from the players, which could only mean big expenses were coming up. So I held on to my stash, and started building more office buildings.

I enjoy the challenge of getting the items, and the triumph and heartbreak that comes from doing a long job and the item drops or not. But it does make me wonder how many items it will take to get the Mayor or Tom. Will there be more items need for each main character of a district or more costumes need to unlock them? But time will tell.
