Hello There Clammers!
Halloween has arrived in Quahog! And Peter, in typical Peter fashion, has decided to tick off the dead. In doing so Peter accidentally opens a dark portal in the Quahog cemetery and unleashes all manner of ghosts and goblins on the city…your job is to help round up these ghost, goblins and ghouls! And while he’s at it he’s decided there weren’t enough ghostly figures wandering around Quahog that he goes and brings his dad back from the dead! (as if anyone wants him around!)
Of course to enjoy all Francis has to offer in TQFS you’ll have to unlock him, which is fairly easy, depending on how much patience you have. And then spend an excruciating amount of time leveling him up just so you can finish the dang questline…. So let’s take a closer look at the details behind this saint sinner…
Francis returns to Quahog via the Halloween Event. You’ll find him 6′ deep and you’ll have to dig him up. It’ll cost you 250 Spirit Vials and take 12hrs to dig him up. Once you’ve freed Francis you’ll have FIVE DAYS to unlock him or he’ll go back into his grave never to be heard from again. So make sure you’re ready to unlock him before you grab that shovel!
Unlocking Francis isn’t awful, it’s just with a short timeline to do it in you can really feel the crunch. To unlock Francis you’ll need to craft the following in the cauldon:
The Pulpit-Requires
1000 Vials
25 Candy Corn
5 Banshee Tears
The Confessional- Requires
500 Vials
10 Latcher Talons
10 Terror Dog Bones
You’ll also need to build from the store:
Mariner’s Banquet Hall. 1,500 Spirit Vials, 8hr Build.
You must craft BOTH items via the Cauldron. You do not have to craft items in order, so you can skip other items and jump right to these too.
Tip: You can craft both items and build the Hall BEFORE digging him up and they should count towards him once dug up.
Remember the clock starts as soon as you “find” him. Which means as soon as you repair the grave and click that check and she first appears…that’s the moment the clock will start.
Francis IS voiced.
And he’s part of the tortured souls character collection…
So now that we know HOW to unlock Francis, let’s take a look at his tasks once he’s unlocked:

There you have it….the ghostly details on bringing Peter’s father back to Quahog! As you can see, once unlocked Francis will be a great help in collecting more Spirit Vials and Fright Points. He’ll also help you earn more Traps.

I missed getting francis by 3 minutes… i wasnt getting enough candy corn from the children… when i woke up the next morning and did a bomb on them i got the final ones i needed and come to find out he was gone…. i missed diane too…. so upsetting… but the game must go on.. lol

I installed today’s update and now all of the items to unlock Francis have doubled in price! The confessional went up to 1000 spirit vials and the pulpit to 1500. Is this a glitch or did they do this on purpose? Either way, I’m very upset about it!

Do his levels 4 and 5 take as long as his level 3? Just wondering how long to expect him to toil… 😄

It is just visual. Shorter tasks always have lower XP awarded…so it seems like it is taking forever, but it is moving. 🙂

I unlocked him a few days ago 😀
I only need mr weed.
Currently i am stocking up my traps and bombs. I’m at 12 traps and 38 bombs. I have a feeling we will need to bomb alot of trick or treaters in the future.
Also have almost 60 bones, 30 eyes, 50 arms, 20 candy corn.
Only need mr weed andthe clown to complete all freemium stuff from this event currently released.

Just received the ‘bribe francis’ task even though i missed out on crafting him after digging him up (needed one jar of sweets for about 12 hours and using about 8 bombs got me nothing, so annoying)
Is this normal? I assumed that missing out would mean tasks/challenges where i require that character wouldnt pop up. Anyone else got this?

I dug him up but didn’t collect all his items in time so he vanished. But since then it’s asked me to complete his ‘bribe francis’ task even though there’s no way i can.

For his quest repent I need a church. Is the only church the one that comes with Jake Tucker for clams?

Knowing how long his quests take I would have held off getting him until after I get Mr. Weed. That would have been 3000 spirit vials i would already have saved.

Anyone else confuse Francis for a ghost when he’s playing the angel harp? Although he IS a ghost so I guess this makes sense. And why does his grave earn 15 vials and 3 fp when Diane’s only earns 1 and 1? Or is this just another case of boys rule, girls drool?!?

A fun character and one that makes sense to have during Halloween. I’m stuck, though, with Francis at Level 3. His next Questline task won’t unlock until he hits level 6! I have been sending him on the “Play Angel Harp” task so that he gets a chance at a Ghost Trap, but I’m considering deviation from this plan ’cause it’s taking SO LONG to raise him up levels. Any thoughts? Is this a possible glitch that TinyCo needs to be aware of?

He’s leveling up…just VERY SLOW. I thought the same thing so I experimented and used clams to rapid rush the harp task…did it about 10 times and saw it move…but it barely moves. It’s just a very slow process to level him up. I think TinyCo figured people would be spending a ton of time working on Stink Bombs and not worried about the questline…or it was just really bad planning to have his questline hinder on such high levels.

I was going to post the exact same sort of comment. It’s like they increased his XP need for level 4 dramatically (As he seemed to reach level 3 as fast as anyone else). This is even worse than Mayor West was to level up for his quest line. But at least he’s earning some traps (though Diane seems to get them more frequently) while he very slooooooooooowly levels up.
Hoping that Jason (and possibly Freddy) end up being free unlockables rather than needing clams…

I’ve noticed that part of the “OMG Francis never levels!” problem is that, for event characters like him, they show the event items his tasks give, but NOT the XP they give. So for all we know, “Play Angel Harp” (4h, chance to drop the trap) gives the appropriate amount of Spirit Vials/Fright Points … but a fraction of the XP we would expect from a 4 hr task.
It does seem odd to me that Francis’ Level 3 is the one where so many of us are stuck; do you guys think that different characters require different amounts of XP for their levels? Like, Peter needs (randomly picking #s) 100 XP to go from Level 3 to Level 4, but Francis needs 250 XP? I would be surprised if it works that way; I’ve played under the assumption that all the characters require equal XP for the same level #. I would think it’s the 1st thing I suggest (his tasks giving small XP), not that his level requires a different total amount.

Hey there addicts. I am so excited i had to tell you some good news….
OMG !!!! Freaaaaaaakin Sweeeeeettttt !!! I feel like singing…What is the word, Bird is the word, Bird, Bird, Bird…Bird, Bird, Bird, Bird is the word….Hallalulah, My level 3 XP bar for Francis has moved a whole 1.3mm on the xp bar. Its taken 4 days for it to move 1.3 mm and poor Francis has been playing the harp every 4 hours for the last 96+ hours. Poor soul…its enough to kill him…oh wait, he is dead 🙂 . If this keeps up I should be on his next quest line at level 6 for Halloween 2025 (If FGQFS is still around in 10 years). 🙂 LOL !!!!!

I didn’t want to waste Spirit vials on Francis if I couldn’t get enough candy corn from the kids in time, once I did though I started to get everything, Unfortunately his time ran out as the banquet hall was being built. His quest is still available, but because he has disappeared I cannot complete the mission, so I wasted all those items for nothing.

Anyone else have a issue with the stink bombs not adding up correctly? I get like 6 and it counts 4 max

Is the count different when you’re in the stink bomb view than what you see on your main screen? Sometimes they’re not syncing up right away and delayed…

Of choose I had to dig him up before I checked out this site so had to work hard NOT hitting the chechmark once it was done. But Francis was easy to unlock and happened relatively fast. His questline is loooong, still working on leveling him up.
