This issue seems to occur when a quest comes up for a character who is currently stashed in the inventory. Keeping main characters out on your play space will prevent the issue. Event and premium characters shouldn’t be a problem to stash, unless you are in the middle of their quests.
Hang in there. Help is coming. The version will most likely be tagged 1.4.5 when they are able to get it completed and pushed to all players. Send in a screenshot if possible of your load screen with your message to help speed up the process.

Here are the basics of the American Dad Event…
HOW DO I START THE AMERICAN DAD EVENT?
Pretty simple here. You just need to reach District 3 game play. Peter will trigger it and start off with “A Shellebration“.
You will need to build the Clam Festival Stage for A Shellebration Part 1, it will only take 1 minute.
HOW DO I UNLOCK STAN SMITH?
He will unlock during “Clam Day Catastrophe” Part 1. (Shortly after “A Shellebration Part 2 Completes, Keep Peter and Bruce free for Part 2.) He comes in the Colonial Barn. Once built, you will need the following items to unlock him.
20 Black Sunglasses (Common): Bonnie Chug a Bottle of Wine, Mort Retreat Cowardly, Quagmire Mix Drinks
10 Photo Evidence (Uncommon): Jerome Grow His Fro, Colonial Barn, Rupert Chat on the Phone
8 Classified Documents (Rare): Bruce Fret About Something, Chris Enjoy Private Time, Smith House
5 Crash Debris (Rare): Lois Shoplift, Peter Dance the Shipoopi, Mort Scrounge for Coins, Jake Tucker Be Normal
For those wanting to know, a direct Clam buyout on him was 420 Clams in my game.
If you unlock him before the event ends, Stan is yours to keep forever. If you do not have him completely unlocked, he will disappear when the event ends.
ROGER’S CHALLENGE IS TIMED!!!!
HOW DO I CLEAR ROGER?
You first need to have Stan unlocked. Once he is unlocked you will be able to perform the “Hide Roger” 1hr task. Just keep an eye out for Roger in your town, once he shows up send Stan on the task. If he has not respawned yet, the task for Stan will be locked until he returns. (FYI, you can also just check Stan’s tasks. When his Roger task unlocks…Roger is in town again.)
WHAT IS ROGER’S SPAWN RATE?
You only get one Roger at a time (of course) and it will take him 4 hours to respawn.
HOW DO I WIN THE GIANT GOLDEN TURD CHALLENGE?
After Part 4 of “Clam Day Catastrophe“, a Challenge for Roger will appear. Stan will trigger it. “The Magic Drunken Clam: Challenge“. This one will be a timed Challenge, so make sure you are ready for it before you jump in. You will have 4 days in which Stan will need to clear Roger 10 times. Once you have successfully done this, the Giant Golden Turd will be placed in your inventory.
It is basically watching closely for Roger to Respawn and sending Stan on the task. A 4 hour Spawn Time wait for Roger, 1 hour task with them both, so allot yourself about 50+ hours to complete this. (So 4 days should be plenty time.)
NEW BUILDINGS (Some will not show up until you complete Shellebration Part 2)
Clam Festival Stage: 5×6, $500, $30 & 20 XP every 4hrs
Colonial Barn (w/Stan Smith): 7×8, $1500, $30 & 20 XP every 4hrs
Historical Clam Exhibition Hall: 5×8, $1000, $40 & 25XP every 6hrs
Smith House: 8×12, 100 Clams, $40 & 25XP every 6hrs, Classified Documents (ALWAYS)
NEW DECORATIONS (Some will not show up until you complete Shellebration Part 2)
Crop Circle: 9×9, $400
Area 51 (Sign): 1×2, $2000
Undercover American Flag: 2×2, 10 Clams

My town has got a huge glitch where most of the buildings have trippled in size… Ive sent tiny co a message but its impossible to play when my towns like it is 😦 anyone else got this??

A few did report this. Try to restart and see if they go back to size. Otherwise give them a bit to respond.

Having the same problem as a few other people in that since the update I keep getting a load error ‘Called getPlayArea before play area exists’.
Have tried re-installing a couple of times but when I do that it will only let me start afresh with a completely new game: any attempt to log back in to my original account just brings up the same error message.
Anyone with the same problem managed to solve this yet?

The fact that the reward is only 10 clams for the whole family is surely a good sign that all these characters will be available without clams.
I hope they do something with Bullock considering lots of us have Sir Patrick Stewart and they seem to look + sound quite similair for some reason 😉
Though having to pay clams for the house is a bit annoying, I know they need to make money too etc but Was just expecting/hoping for the house to be coins haha. Though if Roger is free I’m not to bothered, he is by far my favourite character in American Dad and probably family guy too, the slap in the moonshine episode is probably the scene I laughed most at in any cartoon 😛
I wouldnt be suprised if every character outside the family cost clams, but hey if everyone thats wants it asks TinyCo might bring down the price of the Smith House, even if its like a weekend thing where its half price I’d pay 50clams.
Anyway… Went on a bit of rant/ramble, just wanted to say I’m excited about the event and fingers crossed for no clam roger! Lol

So after the Halloween event I’ve been left with a lot of large buildings etc. I’ve used up almost all of my free space (I have roads which use quite a bit of room too). Now they’ve released this event and I’ve got nowhere to put stuff unless I store items which I don’t want to do. Have you guys got any idea if they’ll be adding more land any time soon?

Why does it seem the game is conspiring against me every time a new event starts? I didn’t get the task to build the new clams stage until after all my characters were tasked. I was totally up to date with everything except Consuela, so it isn’t due to districts being locked. And all my characters were done with tasks due to my tasking all to end before Halloween event was over (and Peter was on the 2 hr missle task) and I logged in after deadline was over. So unless there was a crossover glitch, Peter should have jumped to top of list due to active task available. Instead, there was an exclamation point on the Griffin’s house only after everyone was tasked. Oh well, I will just have to try to make up ground after the unscheduled delay.

Omg I love this game but kinda sad that we didn’t get Freddy’s mausoleum or Diane and Francis’ graves but oh well; hoping I can do as well as I did in halloween.
This event doesn’t have its own currency or event area. Will this event run in tandem with a new district perhaps because it seems quite laid back or are we not getting a new district soon? Especially as the district land opened up……….

To make things easy to understand also a splashscreen would have been great.
I think its kinda fast to release another event. I would have loved to see a new district and the blimp plutonium first.

I know they need money a they are a buisness, but the house costing cash for clams, come on they know everyone will want this. Was not very happy when they said I had cheated, then this morning said I had not, and my account is now good, although they did not take away clams as I had only 250 saved anyway, Tiny started as a player friendly company, and do seem to listen, but now falling in line with the rest, when it comes to money generating, shame realy, I still enjoy playing though. So looks like my clams they allowed me to keep are going on the house. Still waiting on Carl to arrive when they fix the Android error, any sign this will be done soon. Thanks

My suggestion..play the event and see if you really do want it. It’s not needed yet for anything so far. Stan is in the barn for coins. 🙂
The other stuff just hit. Give tech time to make sure the Carl issue is fixed and it’s stable. I’d rather it function then crash my game over n over during an event. 🙂

I think it would be smart to give clams to people who max out a whole row of characters like when you unlock them all. It would be smart to do so, so we can afford the unneeded premium characters, or at least have a chance.

I am so tired of item quests that have characters tied to multiple tasks all the while leaving so many with nothing to do related to an event.

Yeah, it would be nice if they used more of the characters. I’ve got something like 40 people, and only about a third are ever utilised.

All i want to know is, is there gonna be Joe/Stan co quests or quests were each show’s characters confuses Joe or Stan respectively with there own character. Like in the episode were Stewie takes over the country and sees Stan and thinks he is Joe. That needs to happen!

I’m glad I kept everyone free in anticipation! I bought the Smiths’ house because well, they need somewhere to hide Roger when he’s not in costume. Hopefully in the morning I’ll have a good start on getting Stan, and when he’s completed I can set my sights on Doctor Penguin.

I am playing on an Android device. I have uploaded the latest version of the game. I noticed the bottom region of the map, south of the Chinatown District area, is missing its trees, but I can’t build anything there either. Is it supposed to be a new area to unlock? It is just green grass, not the usual messed up areas that are sectioned off and need to be cleared.

Just wanted to report that I’m getting an Error message “Called get PlayArea before play area exists”. As usual I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing this problem so I just wanted to put this on here so that others may see it in case they’re having the same issue so that they know they’re not the only one. Hopefully the bug will get fixed! I’ve tried restarting my device already and still have the issue. I’m about to delete and then re-upload my game to see it that fixes it.

Just to give you a little more info-I continue to delete the re-install and the same issue is occurring. During one attempt, instead of logging into my old account when prompted, I just continue with a new game. When I do that, the game works perfectly fine. However, once I go back to the menu and try to log into my old account, I once again get the same error message. It’s as if the error message is linked to my account itself rather than the game as a whole…

Bruce wasn’t free, he is still on pickin’ kittens, but it just popped up for me after Meg got done with her 24 hr task, not sure why it required her, but soon as she got done, the quest popped up for Peter.

If a task gets bumped off, will it come back after finishing others? I had the halloween meg quest and I need to get Connie, whom I am just about to unplug, but that quest has disappeared, (at first thought it was because halloween ended but myy predator quest is still active )

Too many unfinished tasks crowding the task menu prevent others from being able to show. So you will see them pop up as you clear others.

I have a major question to ask you!! I recently have been having problems with my iPhone and the only solution is to restore it. Do you know how I can save the game? So then I won’t lose any progress? I already have my game saved to my email, is that enough? I want to make sure, especially since the event has now hit our games!
