Update: There seems to be a lot of confusion about Affection Meter Prizes & this Phase. As noted in the post below, you MUST have completed My Funny Valentine Part 13 to see anything from Phase 3 (except the Goat, he’s independent of Phase 3). This includes Affection Meter Prizes. So if you’re not getting Bonnie’s prize, check to see if you’ve completed My Funny Valentine Part 13.
Also, as noted below, Cupid won’t unlock until you’ve reached Part 6 of Can’t Buy Me Love. So until that point you won’t see his bench available for repair.
Hello There Clammers!
Week 3 of Valentine’s Day is now live! And just in time for the Oscars, it’s time to send characters on Movie dates! Ahh the perfect date…where you don’t have to talk to each other.
Back with more as we go through it…
Note: Cupid IS Timed! Once you repair the bench and find him, you’ll have 5 days to unlock. So proceed with caution! Cupid also REQUIRES the Cupid Statue from the Affection Meter. So you MUST get the Love Prize if you want to unlock Cupid. Again…if you get the Hate prize you will not be able to unlock Cupid at this time.
IF you’re close to the hate prize…you’ll still have a chance to get it in the Handmade Valentine Box. More details on it below…but if you go for the Asylum you can still win the Statue in that box.
First thing you may (or may not notice) is some changes have been made to the PDA couples…in how they look. From TinyCo:
“Enamored Couples will feature a dark-haired man with a dark gray shirt and a blonde woman with a pink shirt. They will also have pink hearts floating around them when they stop walking. Enamored Couples will stop and kiss.
Angry couples will feature a blond man with a light purple shirt and a brunette woman with a red shirt. They will also have purple broken hearts floating around them. Angry Couples will stop and fight.”
Also…you MUST have completed My Funny Valentine Pt. 13 in order to see Phase 3….

Vajberry Bar and Grill- 500 Valentines, 4hr Build. Earns 10 Valentines/8hrs.
Second Chances Chapel- 75 Clams. Earns 6 Valentines, 25xp/4hrs. Always Drops Love Hearts
McCounseling Center- 75 Clams. Earns 6 Valentines, 25p/4hrs. Always drops Hate Hearts.

New Dating Options
The Casaroja Move Theater in the Event Area opens up a whole new set of dating options and prizes! Same deal as before. To send characters on dates just tap on the theater (or their task box) and pick two characters to send on a date to see their comparability. Each date lasts 4 hrs, and can earn you Love Hearts or Hate Hearts!
Special Date Combinations can also earn you special Prizes! Here’s what you can win:

For 1,000 Valentines you’ll have a chance to get items you may have missed on the Affection Meter because you went the other way! It’s also a chance to get some items from the Event Area (like the Cafe)!
Note…there is currently a glitch ongoing with the Box where it won’t let you proceed. TinyCo has been alerted and they’re working on it! A patch was pushed to fix this!

Do you have more specifics for the quest lines at the bottom of this post as far as which tasks are needed and how long they take? I like to get ahead and start the next task before the current one is complete I just don’t click on it until after the current is finished so it actually counts. I am a bit behind as well, 5 more hearts until I get the cupid statue, 6 fans left to unlock cheryl, just started can’t buy me love pt. 2, she’s all that pt. 1, and rolling to the movies. Completing multiple tasks at one time is the only way I know how to catch up besides using precious clams! Thank you guys so much!!! This site is awesome!

Am I screwed? I am on Can’t Buy Me Love #6, and my Joe is only on level 8, so I can’t do his task, until he gets up to 10. Is there a way to speed up that process? As I understand it, I can’t go after Cupid until I finish #6.

Im still collecting for the Cupid statue deal as I already have the insane asylum and don’t see having enough time to collect all the love hearts for Meg. I’m thinking if I collect hate hearts next Meg will drop to the mystery box, right? Second question since I have the insane asylum will it drop to the mystery box or disappear? If it’s gone then that would be 1000 less hmv that I would need to save which I am having no problem getting.

It should have the hate prize for Bonnie in it. I cleared all the prizes once and the box went away. After I won the Bonnie love prize the box came back with the error in it. I don’t know if it is because the hate prize is Brookfield Insane Asylum and I had it from a previous event?

I’ve been reading your site for the last year, and this is the first time I’ve ever posted anything. I just have one quick question. Cheryl is almost unlocked, and I have seven hearts because I did go for the statue like you suggested. So now with only seven love hearts should I switch over to the hate harts for the Meg prize? I have over 14,000 Valentines, so I would have more than enough to try to win it in the prize box. Just want your thoughts because I would be having to backtrack my love hearts. Thanks for everything you guys have put out there it has totally helped my game.

If you have the Valentine’s to spend… go for the lesser of the two and probably easier to reach. The Hate. It all depends on how quickly you want Meg due to you have to Lose her in the Affection Meter first to have her drop in the Mystery Box. How has your heart collection been? Easy going on Love? Can you get 350 quickly?

I am so happy with this event. Being someone that hasn’t played for too long I am super pleased. I fell a little behind but spent some hours catching up. Thanks to you ladies I am getting there. Hopefully I will hit the Cupid statue in the box. No luck so far but I’m just working on Valentine’s now to keep opening. I am glad they at least gave us the chance to get it. I don’t spend on clams and so far I have everything but premium items. So I think as long as I get the statue I’ll get him. Super happy. Again thanks for your site.

And there’s one more thing that made me mad. I got that Asylum, not the Cupid statue, because that was optional. And now I just saw in Your post, that this Cupid statue is a MUST. I spent over 8k Valentines for the box, and still dont have that statue. So why do you must have the statue, when it was optional? I think so many players went to the hate site back then, so its unfair…

TinyCo actually just recently is gifting us a handful here and there. It is really kind of them. They do listen. Nothing compared to what we put out monthly, but for them to offer it is MORE than any other gaming house has done for us. So I myself am very grateful. Less money out of my pocket. 🙂
There is a way around it to Clam buy out the option instead of getting the Statue, but try to win it for Valentine’s instead of using precious clams.
I know it is hard to not know what is coming, but that surprise element is what makes a game fun. This event they made those PDA couples REALLY easy to get so everyone got ahead of themselves in the game. Had people waited just a bit, they would have been able to see the items uses BEFORE getting it the moment the phase launched. So… its also on players side to demand less of a challenge, get ahead TOO far, and not allow time to get full details of an item before jumping in.
It’s like buying a car without a test drive first…. you don’t know what you are getting into. 😉

My Glenda has disappeared from the game so I cannot finish the My Funny Valentine quest to access phase 3. I tried force closing and uninstalling the game without success. I’m running Lollipop on a Nexus 5. Is this happening to anyone else? Any advice on what to do?

I did not see this posted anywhere, so my apologies if you addressed this. Do you think the chapel or counseling center are worth it? They will give guaranteed hearts, but now that the couples have different hair and pants, I am finding them more easily. . . But, I am still collecting for Kool Aids’ girlfriend, so I am nervous that I won’t be able to finish before the end.

It you are WAY behind, they may be worth it instead of speeding tasks to get hearts. It all depends on your collection. It is 10 a drop. So base that with what YOU have unlocked and what characters YOU can send to get the same amount or more in same time.

Since you can get the prizes you don’t get from the affection meter from the handmade valentine box does it make sense to take less time to collect 150 hate and get the building for Meg’s step and use valentines to get the Hot Meg skin from the gift box? Also I have gotten all the prizes that were available so far from the box and it has disappeared. Will the box reappear once I finish collecting for Bonnie on the affection meter and have a new prize available ?

It will come back, and it depends on how many valentine’s you have left on what may be the better route for you. If not that many… You may want to go for her. If plenty… get the lesser heart prize and buy her when she hits the Box.

I feel like the box is not randomized, meaning that the order you see for the prizes goes in that order. So I would need about 7000-9000 hearts just to get the statue, will be tough and I’m disappointed at TinyCo for not giving us the heads up ahead of time…

Send Characters that earn them on short quick tasks. Utilize any buildings/decos that pay them out. If anything… use clams… but only as a last resort.

That’s not what I’m trying to say. I’m trying to say that TinyCo should of let us know ahead of time that the cupid statue would be a requirement. It didn’t have to be a full out reveal but a hint so that we are able to grind towards love instad of hate. I went towards hate and now I’m regretting it. Considering that I already have the building and I wanted another building. That’s why it’s not a smart move. Also for the fact like I said above, if the box goes in order of the prizes which it seems according to when I hit the box three times, I would have to spend either 7000-9000 hearts. To be honest, that’s a lot of hearts. For someone like myself of others, we may not be able to get to that much before the event ends unless a miracle. happens. That’s why I’m disappointed at TinyCo. Not for the alernate prizes being an option. I like that idea but it’s the fact of spending my hearts to try to just get the statue. Also that I have to spend 1000 hearts regardless. Also, I’m also disappointed at the point that I contacted TinyCo about the app update not hitting the app store yet or even at all. Not sure why though. But the android market got the update so it let users to know about when the next wave of PDA couples would come. This is really annoying and frustrating that I have to guess about for when the couples spawn. Even sometimes when they spawn 2 hours.

I got the cupid statue from the mystery box on my 1st and only try, so no you don’t necessarily need 7k hvs to get cupid statue. I cheated ahead myself and had to double back and grind an extra day to get the liquor store I wanted. Then I cheated ahead again for the asylum and had to get cupid from mystery box instead. But I can’t blame TinyCo, they didn’t force me to cheat ahead for the next prize. It was my choice my own decision so just have to live with the consequences.

Hey all, so I just noticed something and wanted to give a heads up, I ALREADY have the Brookfield Insane Asylum. I think I got it from halloween evet. So anyone that is trying to go for that, check and make sure you don’t already have it. Luckily I realised it before I collected all the broken hearts for it, now I can go for the needed Cupid statue.

Voodoo requires LESS hearts. So it depends on how many Valentine’s you have (enough to clear all the prizes in Box with her) or if easier go right for her.

Well, I was one of the fools who went for the building instead of the cupid statue and had already committed to more than enough “hate” before realizing the importance of that silly statue. By then it was far too late to collect enough to erase all of that AND get the statute AND have enough time after all that to go for Hot Meg. I only had like 4,500 Valentines somehow, even playing a lot, because of either using them to buy too much of the optional junk or not having enough people doing Valentines quests…. Unfortunately the first 4 boxes haven’t been the statue, so I’ll keep trying. Yikes. This game can be frustrating.

I think it’s pretty cool that tinyco put the goat in the game. People might not think much of it but to me it means that tinyco was thinking of all their players. Knowing it was Chinese new year yesterday and the little detail that it’s the year of the goat is awesome. Good job tinyco for thinking of all ur players.

I’m fairly certain the two times I clicked on the Homemade Valentine’s Box took the 1000 valentines each time when it crashed (last night, before the patch). Also, I bought the Vajberry Bar and Grill last night, expecting it to be completed this morning and it was as if I hadn’t bothered. The building I stored to make room for it was back in the game. So, out those valentines too. I’ve lost a grand total of 2500. (not a huge amount, but still) Anyone else have these glitches?

Like every event, this one is heavily bugged, and phase 3 is pretty much totally broken. It still has not fully activated because the current meter prize is still a ? and says check back later. The meter is either broken or there is something now where love is added on a regular timer which screws up trying to get hate prizes. Every time I open the game in the last day there is less hate than I had before. I get more hate from the couples and dates, then next time I have less again. I have lost over 70 hate across 6 such incidents in the last 24 hours. Seems the insane asylum is an impossible thing to get because of these bugs. It should only take 125 from the image posted, and I’ve been well over 125 several times and it hasn’t triggered because it’s not actually unlocked yet. No I’m not tapping the love couples, yes I have long since gotten to beautiful people part 13, etc. Other things are not available or triggering as well as many people seem to be reporting. And like past events even if they fix the problems it will be too late to actually make up for lost time as they never extend the event to make up for their screwups.

Do me a favor… step back… take a breather… and read ALL of the top of this post. You will NOT be able to see anything in Phase 3 until you actually unlock it via completing the dialog/tasks that you need to. It goes BEYOND just beautiful People. You got to get into the new quests too (see bottom of post for quick glance). Once you do that THEN the new meter prizes and items will unlock for you to get.
