Family Guy News: What You May Not Know About Family Guy

Hello There Clammers!

While we’re all anxiously awaiting the next “big thing” in the Quest for Stuff I figured a little Friday Fun was in order.  So let’s talk about some Family Guy News…and some things you might not have known about the show….

news

For long time fans of the show you may already know this, but for the newer fans…did you know that Mila Kunis wasn’t always the voice of Meg Griffin?  For the very first season of Family Guy Meg was voiced by…Lacy Chabert!  (think Party of 5)

So why did Lacy leave the show after 1 year?  Was she fired?  Did she quit?  Well the answer was revealed on Bravo’s Watch What Happen’s Live last night.  It turns out between Party of 5 and school it was just too much for the 15 year old actress to handle doing the voice for Meg as well, so her parents made her quit the show!  You can check out that part of the interview here:

Imagine just how very different Family Guy would be without Mila voicing Meg for all these years!

And now for some news out of Australia.  The Courier-Mail in Australia recently ran an article about some things you may not have known about Family Guy.   Some of the highlights:

-Did you know: according to Seth MacFarlane, most of the family members can hear what Stewie is saying, but choose to ignore him because he’s a baby.

-Did you know: Seth Green based the voice of Chris off of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs?

-Did you know: The folks at Lucasfilm, behind Star Wars…in case you’ve been living under a rock, are actually big fans of the show.  Not only that but they gave Seth full permission to use Star Wars characters and references on the show…thus Blue Harvest was born!

-Did you know: The actors who play Lois, Meg, Chris & Cleveland all received a pay raise last year…worth up to $225,000 per episode.  I’m in the wrong business….

-Did you know: in every episode of Family Guy at least one character says…”What the hell..” (thus the title of our newest feature!)

Want more?  Want to know why Meg is so abused on the show?  Curious what character Seth voices is his favorite?  You can check out the full article here:

  1. That doesn’t make any sense. Lacey was in both Party of Five and Family Guy at the same but Family Guy’s first season was in 1999. Lacey was not 15 years old at the time as she was born in 1982. Also, Party of Five ended in 2000. This would be about the time she would have been asked back for season two. Yes- school might have been an issue with timing but a fifteen year old Lacey staring in more seasons of Party of Five would have no relevance in that particular year. Party of Five SUCKED by the way.
