Family Guy Technical Help: How To Upload & Post Pictures w/Dropbox

It looks like it is that time. Time for me to pull out my nerdy geek girl glasses, crack my knuckles, stretch out my typing fingers, put on my “thinking cap” (though I swear Alissa calls it my “dunce cap”)…it is time to get technical.

So pull up a comfy chair, grab some snacks, and your favorite beverage. You are about to go into the mind of Bunny as I show you some tips and tricks of the technical nature.

In this post, we are going to touch on How To Upload & Post A Picture using Dropbox.

Dropbox Icon

I am playing Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff on an Android platform, although I will occasionally play on an iOS device as well, and use Dropbox for uploading.  While I know there are many other apps out there to help you upload your photos, I prefer Dropbox.  I’ve been using it for a while now so I’ve built up a fair amount of free storage and it’s my application of choice when it comes to backing up my photos or uploading my screenshots.  So today I wanted to go over a step by step guide on using Dropbox to upload and share your photos.

First, if you don’t already have an account with Dropbox you can set one up at their website (dropbox.com).  The accounts are free and come with 2GB of storage.  You’ll also earn free “bonus” storage space when you refer friends and download the PC application (I’ve been using it for quite a while now and with all of my referrals and links to all my devices, I currently have about 40GB of free storage with them.  Not a bad deal for a free application!)  If you need help creating an account they have videos and a guided step by step process on their website.

So assuming you’ve already setup your account and are good to go let’s get into the finer details of how to share your photos.  It’s important to note that there are different methods when using an iOS device and an Android device.  Both devices have different ways to upload your files, so I will discuss each method separately.  Since I use an Android device I’ll start with that…

Android Platform

First thing I like to do is setup my application so it’s easy to see everything and all of my Family Guy Screenshots are organized on one place.  In order to do that you’ll want to create a new folder in your Dropbox application to send your screenshots to. You can do this one of two ways depending on your device. On mine, I can set it up in advance or even while I am loading the pics into Dropbox.

To create a new folder in advance, Locate the Dropbox app on your phone and open it up.

You will be taken to your Dropbox account you set up. You can see any folders you already set up or if you have none, it will be blank. From here, simply press the menu button on your Android phone (usually on the left side of the “home” button. Looks like a box with lines in it) and the menu list will appear. Select the option of  “New Folder”.

A “Create New Folder” box will appear on your phone.  Type in what you’d like to call your new folder, for mine I labeled it Family Guy Screenshots, and tap create.

It will create the folder and once done it will automatically open the new folder you just created.  It should look something like this…

Dropbox empty folder

You can even put folders within folders. You just tap on the one you want the pics inside of and go back to the menu to make a “New Folder” again.

Now you can go ahead and close out of your Dropbox application.  From here you’ll want to open your gallery to load your screenshots.  (Note: Android devices automatically save screenshots to your gallery in a separate folder conveniently names “Screenshots”).

Find the shot you’d like to upload to dropbox.  In this example we’ll use a shot of Killington. From here you’ll want to tap the share button (on my phone it’s on the top of the screen and looks like a < sign with lil dots at each tip or a sideways V). You can select one image or many images at a time. My android, I just press and hold on any image in the Screenshots on my phone and they will then switch to lil boxes over the photos so I can go through and just check mark which ones I want to add.

A new box will appear saying Share via.  You’ll want to select the Dropbox icon.

Note: On my phone it automatically adds a dropbox icon to my gallery.  If it does it for you as well (the little blue box in the top)  you can just tap on that.

Again a new box will appear asking you to choose your location.  Find the folder you created in the step above and tap on that. That folder will open and just tap on the green Add button. (If you end up in a folder you do not want that image in, you can just select the “Up To Dropbox” option and it will take you back to all of your main folders.

It is also at this point you can create a new folder while adding the photo(s) to Dropbox. Just click on the lil icon in the top right corner that looks like a folder with a plus sign. You will see the same screen to “Create a Folder” pop up like above. Create the new named folder and then it will open a new blank folder with the option to “Cancel” or “Add” at the bottom. Select add to put the photo(s) into the new folder.

Watch the information banner on your phone. Mine tells me when they are down loading. Then it will tell me when they are all done and how many were successful.

But how do you get it off of your phone and onto FamilyGuyAddicts?  Well let’s break it down…

You’ll want to go to your Apps and find your Dropbox App on your phone.  Open the app and find your folder that you put the photo(s) into.  Tap on it to open it up.  Find the image you want to share and tap the arrow to the right of the item.

Dropbox Tutorial 17

Once you tap it a long black box will appear.  Tap on the share button (all the way to the left in the box, and again looks like a < sign with lil dots at each tip).

Dropbox Tutorial 18

Yet another new box will appear titled Send a link to this file.  You want to tap the option Copy Link.   This AUTOMATICALLY copies the link to your clipboard so you’ll only need to paste it when ready.

Now you’ll want to go to your favorite Family Guy Site…FamilyGuyAddicts.com of course!….and find whichever post you want to attach your screen shot to.  Find the comment section and fill out the information as you normally would. However in the comment box you’ll want to paste your link.

To do this just tap and hold your finger down until a small box appears that says paste. Select the paste button and your link will be pasted into the comment box!

All that’s left to do now is hit “post comment” and you’re done!  Your Quahog screenshot can now be share with your fellow Addicts!

iOS
Note: Due to the teeny tiny screen on my iPod…I’ve pulled these images from Dropbox’s website.

Using Apple devices is a little bit trickier when it comes to sharing links via Dropbox.  However, you’ll want to start the same way as the Android platform.  First thing I like to do is setup my application so it’s easy to see everything and all of my Family Guy Screenshots are organized on one place.  In order to do that you’ll want to create a new folder in your Dropbox application to send you screen shots to.  To do this tap on the 3 dots at the top of the application and select Create folder.

A “Create New Folder” box will appear on your phone.  Type in what you’d like to call your new folder, for mine I labeled it Family Guy Screenshots, and tap create.

From here you’ll want take your screenshots in your game.  Once you’ve taken the screenshots you wanted, here’s the big different between iOS and Android, open your Dropbox application back up.  Find the folder you just created and tap on it.  From there tap the + sign on the top right side of the screen & select Upload Here.

Now you’ll need to just follow the onscreen instructions and select the album where your screenshots are located.  Then select the screenshot you want to upload and tap the Upload Button (represented by a + sign, and it says the word upload underneath it).

Congratulations your image is now on your Dropbox!  So now how do you get it from your Dropbox to the Family Guy Addicts website?  Let’s take a look…

1)      Find the image you’d like to share and Swipe from left to right over the file name to reveal a set of icons.

2)      Tap the icon that shows an arrow coming out of a box (represents share on iOS devices).
iphonedropbox3

3)      Select the Copy Link to Clipboard option and it will AUTOMATICALLY save to your clipboard.

Now you can follow the same instructions as with the Android platform and go to your favorite Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff site…FamilyGuyAddicts.com of course!….and find whichever post you want to attach your screen shot to.  Find the comment section and fill out the information as you normally would.  However in the comment box you’ll want to paste your link.  To do this just tap and hold your finger down until a small box appears that says paste.

Select the paste button and your link will be pasted into the comment box!

All that’s left to do now is hit post comment and you’re done!  Your Quahog screenshot can now be share with your fellow Addicts!

Hopefully this has helped you to share your town with other Clammers!  If you have any questions or problems feel free to leave them in the comment section below and we’ll answer them as best we can!

  1. I tried posting a photo in the latest WTD post using this post as a reference.
Not sure what I did wrong; but only the Dropbox link pasted, not the photo.
I tried it again in the reply (please delete).
Maybe that’s all it does and the photo doesn’t post?!?

  2. Help Bunny!

I followed every step. And everything is working until I go to copy the link. When I tap and hold the screen to wait for the paste option.. Nothing happens, just a bubble with no options. ????

    • Everyone’s device is a lil different. You may need to check your user guide for it to see if there are any shortcuts on how to copy & paste images. There may be additional steps or a menu you may have to use.

  3. I just downloaded Dropbox and followed the instructions written above. When I swipe left to right the box with the arrow shown in your picture does not come up on my phone?? I can save image copy link and some other stuff. I’ve tried copying the link and uploading an image to your website but it doesn’t work. Where am I going wrong? I’m using an iPhone 5s iOS latest update. Thank you

    • Once you copy the link, just come to the comment section here and paste it. For me…that is pressing and holding down my finger in the comment box until “paste” pops up and I tap on it.

  4. Hey Bunny I noticed a few things in my game. I remember letting you know that it wasn’t keeping me logged in, well it IS still keeping track of my cash/clams and progress, but it is not keeping time well. I sent Peter & Lois on the solve marital issues & I had 6 he’s left @ 1230pm. I just logged back in @ 130am and I still have 5:45 left. Here is the oddest part, my Google says “You’re logged in as %1%” and my username.

    • The time glitch, I believe they are still tweaking a lil bit. The other…I have been seeing some really strange ones coming through. Please screenshot the issue if possible in case we need it later and message TinyCo through your device so they are alerted to it. Since this particular one is the first I have seen so far, I will monitor for others to report it in case it starts to trend.

These guys are really great at help and feedback. 😉

(FYI…if you do have a glitch in the future, feel free to put it on our Glitch Page as it makes it easier to see similar issue coming through. 😉 )
