Hello There Clammers!
A bit after 10pm PDT, the toy change FINALLY occurred. We’ve gone from collecting Giraffes to collecting Octopus…
Same rules/tasks apply. Send Peter, Chris, Bruce & Quagmire on 4hr tasks to earn the Octopus. They WILL drop each time they complete the task.
The end time for this toy is 10pm PDT tomorrow….so that’s 10pm PDT on 7/20/14, 1am EDT on 7/21/14 & 6am BST on 7/21/14 (0500GMT for our friends that aren’t in those time zones). Basically 24hrs from when the toy changed.
There are a few things we can confirm with this toy change…
-IF you have a character on a task to earn this toy and the toy changes before they complete the task, the new toy will fall from the character when the task is complete.
-If you’re having trouble getting the box to come up…go into your shopping cart and go to the featured tab. The box should be there if you have enough toys (6,14 & 24).
-You cannot win doubles from the box. Once you’ve won an item it will disappear. HOWEVER….if you already have an item (if you purchased it) you can win it again in the box. ie if you purchased a Koi Pond for District 7, you can also win one in the box. But once you win it, it will disappear.
-There’s an ongoing glitch with the Salon once you win Rupert, that allows you to place unlimited Salons. We’ve alerted TinyCo about this & are waiting for an answer on it…as soon as we have it we’ll let you know.
-Currently, we don’t know if Rupert will be available for clams after the event is over. I know he shows up on Facespace as a character you buy, but as of right now we don’t know if he’ll be available. Once we have an answer on it we’ll let you guys know.
-There’s an known error that sometimes pops up with the box that says Child Unlock…if that happens it will close your game, but you should be able to start it right back up and do the box with out a problem.
So that about does it my friends. Same tasks, new toy.

Open boxes for a chance at getting him. Collect toys all day. You can open your first box of 3 each day, after you collect 6 toys.

Got my first box this morning. Nada on the girafes. It was the Lobster Shanty. I’m happy about that. I’m on the fence about whether I want human Rupert though. He’s kind of creepy, yeah? I’ll keep collecting the animals though. Got some nice things in the boxes.

I’m still quite confused as to what I have to do. I thought I could collect and save the Giraffes but that didn’t work and I missed out on those days and I got the Octopus and got a box and got a Lobster Shanty but now what? Do I need to unlock a certain number of boxes or do I need to collect a maximum amount of toys in a day? It’s really confusing Q_Q

That’s what we are here for….to de-confuse you…lol Just collect toys around the clock. When you get 6, you get a prize…collect 8 more toys (total of 14, now) you get another prize (mystery box)…collect 10 more toys (total of 24), you get to open your 3rd and final box for the day. The toy changes every 24 hours (and unused toys will disappear), so collect as many toys as you can.

Is it a glitch that the Gold Digger’s Island you win from the box is NOT the same one that you need for the Sailor Quagmire quest?

I got Rupert on my third box, so this seems to be set up to be a fairly easy event. What’s up with the Tanning Salon glitch? TinyCo still trying to get control of their game? I’ve placed three, but I think that’s enough for one town.
At this point, I’m looking forward to getting back to unlocking Carter m(one sugar packet to go), and the Peter and Brian costumes (necessary to unlock Stewie, so I’m focusing on these first).
Not sure if I want to keep opening boxes to get multiples of the crap items I already have. Tiny Co really needs to rethink this aspect of the game. TSTO gets it right with making items unique, and with letting you sell back items you don’t want. At this rate, I’m going to need to build a storage unit for all of the useless multiples of buildings and decorations this game has stuck me with!

So I’ve been reading this site for months and this is my first comment. I love the site and all the updated info. I’ve tried the toy box all six times already (rushed them) and received all stuff I already have. No Rupert yet. I really hope I get him. Just a note: I wasted so many coins on the 4th of July mystery box and only have an arsenal of fireworks to show for it, and some white flowers. I pretty much have all the items from all the events and beta. My pay checks though are suffering. I will say though I had an issue about something and contacted Tinyco and they gave me a few clams. Overall love the game and site. 🙂

Besides the whole noon to 10 o’clock switch yesterday I have enjoyed this mini event so far even if I have not got any item I have really wanted…so far. the two I got yesterday was the Stewie Billboard and Bubbly fountain, the first today was the pond…on a glass half full viewpoint at least I don’t have to worry about the billboard, bubbly fountain, and Koi pond falling again lol. The top 3 that would make me happy at this point is rupert, lobster shanty and pirate car…bottom 3 is stewie flower, ice cream truck and gold digger island…would like but could live without the Pawtucket Ale truck, spotlights and another dansu dansu…will return to my plans of taking over the world on Wed…..or at least finishing Carter and going after Stewie

Question regarding end of event. They said on tuesday. Do they mean 10pm PDT on tuesday? Rather than resetting to a different toy it will end? Or do they plan on ending it during the day on tuesday? As I am on EST, would I have until technically 1am wednesday or not?

We are trying to get an answer…but this is a “tight lip” subject. Our best guess….AGAIN…a guess…is 10:00PM PDT or a little after to allow time to collect the last earned boxes. This would make sense because the timing would fall in line with toy collecting. But, as ALL veteran players know….TinyCo loves to change event times…lol

Well, both, kinda. He is one of the prizes in the box. Collect toys all day, when you have collected 6, you can open your first box….then when you get 14 (8 more toys collected), you get your second box…..then 24, for the final box (tea party) of the day.

No kidding this is so stupid! You have characters that do nothing but the one’ s you need to do the tasks to unlock stewie are the one’s you have collecting toys !!! After watching Brian scoot on his ass three times and get nothing my finger is getting closer to the bloody delete button !

I don’t like these weekend updates from TinyCo. They seem to be directed towards players who only have a lot of clams to waste. They need to give more time or maybe put in premium items instead of one’s most players have already purchased.

I missed the third box from day one because they changed the reset time for the toys, so I’ll only be able to get 11 of the 12 prizes, hoping I at least get Rupert. But I tip for those who don’t want to spend a lot of clams to make sure they get 3 boxes a day; it only cost one clam to rush a character when they only have 44 minutes and 59 seconds left of the task, if you are like me and enjoy sleeping lol then this can really help, if you started today’s tasks at 6:00-8:00a.m.(eastern time) then in total it will only cost 12 clams to get all three boxes today, and if you can time it right you can get all three boxes the next two days for only eight clams. Hope this is helpful. Especially for those who actually get some sleep lol

I noticed that you can still cash in a party earned with previous toys. I had enough giraffes to get the first box before the switch to octopi. When I got 6 toys today I had two party boxes in my inventory. I will report later if two 6-toy parties both count toward the daily limit.
I got the koi pond and Dansu Dansu, both of which I already have. They really need to give us a way to convert duplicates in the inventory to cash, especially if prizes include things the game already asks us to buy through tasks, like the pond if you’ve unlocked Chinatown. If not convert, give me the option of a cash equivalent when I win it and already have enough.

The “won” boxes won’t count towards your next days total. Once you earn a box, it just waits for you to open it. I have been suggesting to all, to open boxes as you get them. Too many glitches floating about and I would hate it if you “lost” (somehow) a hard earned mystery box. 🙂

TinyCo continues to mishandle this event. It is good to see that you can apparently not win duplicates, but rather than shifting the toy change time, they should have extended the event. Shifting the changeover was a terrible idea. There had been a time already announced, people like myself may have planned around it. Without knowing ahead of time whether or not the toys being collected for jobs in progress would change (after all, while Quagmire’s “fornicate with a giraffe” task dropping a giraffe toy makes some amount of sense, but wouldn’t make sense for any other toy drop) I felt that it was a better move to give up on the giraffes, and not have characters on task for the earlier changeover, because there was no time to earn 6 giraffes in the time I had. I don’t know if there was a notification about the change, but I certainly didn’t get one.

Yes, You should. Events reassign some tasks of some characters only for the duration of the event.

I was working on unlocking also. I did have problems receiving the inner tubes after a task was complete. As I would check as too how many I had left to get and the numbers where still the same.

I’m on vacation in America and heading back to UK today so will my octopus/octopuses/octopi collection times change as I enter the different time zones….meaning will I get slightly extra time or is that just me being hopeful

Every time i get to the stage of having enough toys the game crashes, first time i got the lobster shanty (which i was happy with) then it crashed and i had to do it again and got herberts ice cream truck.. Which sucks. Now the second time i got enough to open one (after speeding up) and it crashed twice then didnt give me anything. What is going on?

Next time you collect enough toys enter Ollieland or something and then go back and “spend” the toys maybe that will help… It will force save your game at least and the toys and everything else you do will be saved so you dont have to tap everything over

Yesterday i panicked prior to the time change and sped up those Girraffes but i did realize that it only costs 2 clams to speed up the Topiary and get the toy! Unfortunately, i sped up characters too, which cost me plenty but i learned something so i am not feeling to bad about it! Saddened a little but lesson learned! I was able to get Falconer Peter yesterday and today i am half way to finishing Banana Brian also in a couple hours i will have the Malt Shop! As for ingame cash, i built 70 common offices which gives me $700 every hour if i am always on it which is not always the case! As for what i bought in clams, i spent ten then five and that is how i picked up the decos plus speed ups!

Didn’t get to unlock any boxes. I did get to see Dawn of The Planet of The Apes today though. Along with Deliver Us From Evil at the drive in Newton. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fairview-Drive-In/106426222735032 If anyone has never been to a drive in you really should go. There are only about 400 left and it is a very unique experience. Dawn was excellent, Deliver, was a decent flick but you might wait to see it on DVD though. I’ve got two octopi now so we’ll see what happens tomorrow.

We actually have a drive-in a double drive in to boot here in Springfield Illinois the last time I went I saw the edge of tomorrow and the neighbors and my car battery died with about 15 minutes left to go on the second movie
But today I went to a matinee at the regular theater and saw the purge anarchy for $5.50 was well worth it I give it two thumbs up actually think it’s better than the original

Are you playing on an iPod by chance? I ask because they said the iPod 4 and older are really having troubles handling the memory needs of the game. Also the older android devices and the iPad 1. Not all are getting the loading problem…it’s a device by device issue. They are continually looking for ways to reduce the memory footprint of the game. I know we have said this before, but keep sending emails to help@tinyco.com. Keep at it….We hate that you’re missing out.

Fyi: they do NOT drop every single time. I should have had 12 giraffes and ended with only 7 and I should have 4 octopus and only have 3. Bruce has only given me 1 toy and Chris didn’t drop one (only ones I fully paid attention to since I have read on here that they will drop every time). So congrats to get them every time, I just happen to not be one of those. Very disappointing, especially if many people are getting them every time. Rupert seems like a pipe dream, but I will not give up!!

I started collecting giraffes just after midnight when the game started had three by morning by next time I played the game the same day the first ones collected had gone and the giraffe count was zero not happy .

We missed out on some time.. We drove to Lubbock TX on Friday night for a car show on Sat. We got to the hotel and were exhausted and had to get up at 6AM to place the car. I did not check my game till I got up the next morning and low and behold a new event. I lost 6 hours to build toys. We got home late last night so at 12:15 CST I checked the game and they had not changed the toy so I went to bed not knowing when it would change.. I’m loosing time by sleeping..lol

I got dansu dansu for the first day of the event. It only gets 5 dollars for rent. But when I look at it in the store it says it earns 30 dollars an hour. Anyone else notice this?

It pays 5 coins every 10 minutes…..30 coins per hour. Next time you tap it, look at it’s payout timer reset to 10 minutes.

Only update that crashes my iPhone 3 out of 10 times. Buttville crashed every time my iPad, it crashes about 2 out of 10 now.
There should be a task with new Brian for Rupert in Stewie room. Then follow up with it as a Stewie task, to throw New Briam away in the trash… Yep, on the fly Co. Make it happen
My personal take on this update, hope they do more. Only major problem is these goofy times that they’re refreshed to start a new day.. Good thing I don’t sleep, and from the looks of it CyberSilly doesn’t either haha

Serious how big is the change to win rupert if you only have 3 changes a day is about 12 changes until teusday i have done 6 already and i got junk and a wineglass and what if you didnt win it with the boxes then its not a fair change gamble

Chiming in: Actually this IS pretty normal, *unless* you bought the clams a whole 24 hours ago and there’s no indication of purchase at all. This all depends on your bank. 🙂
I’ve made in-app purchases through Google Play on various apps. Even iTunes does this. I receive the item or items I bought immediately after it is processed through my log-in, and if I check my bank account, it may not show up until up to 24 hours later. Usually, it will say, for example of a $20 purchase, that I have $150.96 balance in my checking account and $130.96 *available* from my checking. The bank sees that I made a transaction and says, “Hey. The money hasn’t left your account yet. If this was a fake purchase, or if we find it suspicious, we won’t process it and the company will take their product back for nonpayment etc etc.”
So this will depend on your bank if it will shows up immediately, because I know mine takes at most 24 hours before the bank realizes I used my card and makes sure it isn’t an unusual purchase, even though I still get the items I bought. 🙂
Always keep a checkbook or list of card purchases for this exact reason, of course. If the money isn’t taken from your account by this time tomorrow or if it isn’t even showing up as a pending transaction, contact the bank, especially if you have already received the clams. If you didn’t receive the clams AND it isn’t coming out of your account, contact Tiny Co and they’ll probably be able to verify if the purchase request completed properly. 🙂 This Internet thing isn’t always the fastest or most reliable! 😛

Great event so far IMO. Obviously they can’t make it so you’re guaranteed to get Rupert, but they made it so you still have a good chance, regardless of how you play. Much better then when everyone was complaining about Clown Peter and King Butt.

They pretty much guaranteed Rupert, if you play and collect all the toys everyday.. Thank goodness, they don’t repeat prizes. What is one to do with all the toilet Lincoln’s They collected… Small boats also, there’s not enough room in my water for them all… But I did put the church in the water.. Now Jesus is the only one to enter through the front doors.. I would like to be able to buy more water land… Massive boat party will be had..

It is not garuanteed. You could only open 2 boxes yesterday. There was not enough time for the 3rd (unless you used clams to speed tasks up or bought the building). So I won’t be able to open all 12boxes. However, I did win 2 premium items yesterday, so I am happy with that.

No, it’s not guaranteed you will open all the boxes, but on the bright side….these are the best mystery box prizes so far IMO. Lots of items many don’t have yet and your odds improve with each one you open. Good Luck. 😉

Collected 8 toys for the first round, but never got a pop up or gift box in my cart. This event is a little confusing.
