Guys In Black 101: Giant Beetles

Hey Addicts, want to join me in going batty? No, okay let’s just chat about clearing them instead.

Yes they’re creeps, yes they’re weirdos, yes they’re  Giant Beetles and they’ve landed in our towns and don’t they just creep you out!!!

For more information on the Event, go to the Event Page HERE

WHEN DO THE GIANT BEETLES APPEAR?

At the Part 1 of the Main Questline, The Day Quahog Stood Still, you will be directed to learn about Space Bats.

Tapping on GO at Giant Beetles Are Here will bring up the Space Bats information box which will give you a lot less information than I’m about to.

WHERE DO GIANT BEETLES APPEAR?

They appear on the Sidewalks/Edge of Sidewalks of the Quahog road patches, so look near all your roads to locate them.

Now it is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL for you to remove your Roads from your town to keep the Giant Beetles to one area, just know that the less you have out in the open, the less time you will spend searching for Giant Beetles.

I had a bunch of them appear in my Quahog as soon as I had triggered Pt. 1 of the main Questline and it would appear they max out at 8. As you clear them new ones will spawn but I doubt you’ll ever run out of Giant Beetles.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BATTLE GIANT BEETLES?

You’ll need 1 Arrest Warrants for every Battle you want to start with a Giant Beetle.

Arrest Warrant (Uncommon): Secret Weapons Room OR Mort Put Up Wanted Posters OR Jerome Hunt Bounty OR Agent Pee Peter Push Paper, Quagmire Put Up Flyers OR Intergalactic Mystery Box OR It Has No Name Drinks Bar OR Men In Shades Store OR Rosenberg Fine Jewelery OR Space Cases Mystery Box

WHAT CHARACTERS CAN BATTLE GIANT BEETLES?

You have the option to select 2 of your available Characters to Battle a Giant Beetle. You will just need to make sure they are available, unlocked, and not in the healing process. These are the characters you can use.

Flash God

Scrad Quagmire

Hawkman Chris

Arquillan Stewie

Jack Jeebs

Ming the Merciless

WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE CAN EACH CHARACTER DO?

The 4 Characters that can Battle Space Bats each have their own Hit Power, Health, and % Chance they will deliver a knockout blow during a Battle and completely take their opponent out. Remember you can also Miss and do no damage.

WHY CAN’T I SELECT MY CHARACTER?

There can be a couple of reasons you are unable to SELECT a Character to go to Battle.

BUSY: If the Character you want to use is on a Task elsewhere in the game, you will see the word BUSY and a GET Icon next to them. If they are on a Task, tapping GET will take you to them and ask if you want to finish that Task right away for Clams.

NOT UNLOCKED: If you have not Clam Purchased a Character or you are still collecting Materials in the game to Unlock a Character, they will also show up with a Lock Icon and a GET Icon next to them. You will need to continue earning their Required Materials & Unlock them in order to use them for Battle.

HEALING: After a Character’s Health is dropped to Zero, they go through a Healing Process (more details on individual healing times below). While they are Healing, you can’t use them to Battle.

HOW LONG WILL CHARACTERS HEAL?

The Healing Times for the characters who can Battle Giant Beetles are as follows:

Flash God: 3hrs
Scrad Quagmire: 4hrs
Hawkman Chris: 4hrs
Arquillian Stewie: 6hrs
Jack Jeebs: 5hrs
Ming The Merciless: 1hrs

You will see a HEAL Icon next to them in the Battle Screen along with a timer showing you how much longer you will have to wait before being able to Revive them.

CAN I HEAL CHARACTERS FASTER?

YES. If you want to speed up the Healing Process and want your Healing Character to Battle again immediately, you can tap on the HEAL Icon and use either Clams or a Revive Potion to give them their full strength back instantly. Whichever method you choose the Game will ask you if you are sure you want to go ahead.

If you have purchased any revive potions you will see this message. If you want to use a revive potion simply click YES. You’ll find more on your Revive Potion options in the next section.

If you haven’t purchased any revive potions you will see this message. The clam cost will depend on the characters healing time.

If you wish to spend clams for a one-off Heal imply click YES. The costs per Heal time are as follows:

8hrs = 72 Clams
6hrs= 64 Clams
4hrs = 55 Clams
3hrs = 50 Clams
5hrs =56 Clams
1hr=24 Clams

But bear in mind unless you’re healing Ming The Merciless this isn’t often the most cost-effective method. As if you purchase any of the revive packs, the clam cost per Heal will be cheaper. For example the 3 revive potions pack costs 150 Clams, so that works out at 50 Clams per Heal.

REVIVE POTIONS

There is a Revive Potion Icon above the Characters in the Battle Screen that will show your current available count of Revive Potions.

There are now a few ways to get Revive Potions with this Phase, these are:

Revive Positions: Jarra Joe Go On Patrol OR Intergalactic Mystery Box OR OR Space Cases Mystery Box OR MIB Motorcycle Buy From Store  (costs of packages below)

x3 Revive Capsules150

x8 Revive Capsules340

x15 Revive Capsules600

WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE CAN GIANT BEETLES DO?

Remember Giant Beetle will be battling back against your Character. They also have a Health, Hit Power, and Chance of dealing Knockout Blows (though it is an unknown %). They can also Miss with an attack.

Health: 20
Hit Power: 12
% Chance: UNKNOWN

WHAT KIND OF REWARDS CAN I GET FROM GIANT BEETLES?

The Rewards you will receive will depend on whether you WIN (NEURALIZED) the Battle or simply DAMAGE the Giant Beetle during the Battle.

These are the kind of Rewards I saw in my game.

WIN Chance Payout:
  +10 Light Charms
 +1 Neck Massager
+ 10 Alien Slime
+40 MIB Badges
 +3 Garden Shears

A Winning Battle means that you dropped the Giant Beetle’s Health to Zero, even if your Characters are wiped out in the process too.

ATTACK OVER Payout:
+5 Alien Slime
+5 MIB Badges

Cost to Battle: 1 Arrest Warrant

An Attack Over Battle means you were not able to get the Giant Beetle’s Health to Zero before your Characters health was fully depleted.

HOW DO I START A BATTLE?

Simply find a Giant Beetle and tap on him and his Battle Screen will open up.

Then Select your Characters to Battle the Giant Beetle. You will see you can choose 2 characters to battle Giant Beetles. Basically you want to choose your best combination to take the Giant Beetle out in the least amount of battles, and to be honest I’m not doing breakdowns of each combo as you know the drill by now. (And remember you can UNSELECT a Character if you change your mind)

You will need 1 Arrest Warrant for Each Battle. Once you have selected your Characters AND if you have at least ONE Arrest Warrant, then you will see the Button under the Giant Beetle’s image light up green with BATTLE. Tap on it to Start the Battle.

Once a battle is underway you can only sit back and watch, you can’t influence the  Battle, you might simply damage the Giant Beetle, you might miss the Giant Beetle, or you might knockout the Giant Beetle, and the Giant Beetle can do any of the same to you. You will know how strong each hit is by the RED NUMBER that floats up to their Health Bar after each hit.

Once the Battle is complete, the Reward Screen will appear showing you if you won or not and what Materials you will be Rewarded. To win you must have depleted the Giant Beetle’s Health to 0.  If you did that you will see the Neutralized Screen, showing your rewards.

If you miss him or merely damage his health you’ll see the Attack Over screen giving you the option to fight again immediately if you have 1 Arrest Warrant and Characters available.

If you have Fighters available you will see the Fight Again button instead of Heal Fighters, tapping this will bring you up the a confirmation box, simply tap YES to go straight back into battle.

However if you don’t have 1 Arrest Warrant or Characters available don’t worry you can go back and Attack the same Giant Beetle later.

HOW DO I ATTACK A PREVIOUSLY DAMAGED GIANT BEETLE?

If you couldn’t immediately Fight Again due to not having 1 Arrest Warrant or your Characters needing to heal then once your ready to Battle again you’ll want to find the same Giant Beetle you previously damaged.  To do this look for the Giant Beetle with the reduced health status floating above his head.

  1. It’s nice to see TC getting use out of the roaches agai – isn’t this the third time?

  2. You could add up all the times I’ve missed from previous events, double it, and it still wouldn’t compare to the amount of times I’ve missed in this event. Am I the only one constantly missing during the fights?
