Hello There Clammers!
We’ve just received word from our friends at TinyCo that THEY HEAR YOU! They’ve listened to & read all of the complaints about the Tea Party Event and have decided to extend the event for ONE MORE DAY!
How awesome is it to have a company behind a game that actually listens to their players?! 🙂
Here’s the game plan direct from TinyCo:
-There will NOT be a new toy tonight at 10pm PDT. The event will end at this point, as scheduled.
-TOMORROW (7/23) at some point in the early afternoon PDT, TinyCo WILL add another (new) toy for collecting.
-You will be able to collect the new toy throughout the day, so you can have up to 3 more chances to open the mystery box.
Here’s the deal from Addicts:
-We don’t currently know what time the toy will change tomorrow. We only know it’ll be at some point tomorrow early afternoon Pacific Time. We will continue to check our games throughout the day and let you know as soon as it changes.
-The event WILL end temporarily tonight at 10pm PDT (1am EDT/0500 GMT). So make sure you get your last attempts in to collect the toys tonight. But DO NOT reset the tasks tonight. Wait until tomorrow when it restarts, so you can get a fresh start.
-We do not know if they’ll add more stuff to the box if you already have everything. So if you were lucky enough to open everything, we’re not sure yet if you’ll have more to win tomorrow.
So here’s your chance to collect Rupert, for those of you that haven’t been able to get him yet. TinyCo hears you & they are listening!

I learned a lesson from this anyway. When I saw the pop up for the event Sat. morning I ignored it as I had to get ready for a busy day and set most characters to continue gathering for permanent tasks. Next time I’ll know to pay more attention for such limited time events.

Dammit! I didn’t know they were extending it so I just sent my characters on long overnight tasks instead of the toy tasks. And I’m getting surgery tomorrow so I doubt that I’ll be playing as often as I usually do. Meaning that I’ll probably only get up to one tea party instead of two 😦 Maybe since they’re extending it due to demand, they’re also increasing the odds of getting Rupert? lol that would be awesome. Either way, thanks for listening to us TinyCo!

I did exactly the same thing… only char. That wasn’t ready was Bruce, that was set for a 20 hour task. I hope you can manage to get it all done in time!

The idea to extend the event is a great idea ONLY if they give clams out for anyone who already opened all 12 boxes as people such as myself will have used clams to complete tasks to get toys to open 3 boxes each day to ensure getting rupert. For them to extend it now is a kick in the face as if we had known sooner.. Like many others who don’t know that aren’t using this great site will be spending more clams to get rupert but then find out that spending ur clams was a waste of time as you would have had more chances to get him anyway.
I myself have opened 11/12 boxes.. Still no rupert. I’m running 15 minutes late on tasks as well so let’s hope they botch up their timing again tonight as they seem to think it’s ok to do so, so I can get the toys and open my last box.
I’m hoping with my 100% chance of getting rupert.. I get king butt.. Well u know what I mean

I get what you’re saying. However, it’s because of feedback that they’re extending it. There was no way they could have known sooner (or when the event started) that they’d need an extra day. It’s a nice gesture on their part to help players, like myself who ended up getting shorted on the first day because of the time issues.
Don’t forget even using clams may not enable you to get Rupert, since you only get 3 attempts per day. So many players that are short 1 or 2 boxes and still use clams may not unlock him tonight. So the extra day is a nice gesture all around, even for players that used clams to speed things up tonight 😉

In regards to using clams, I used them to make sure I got enough toys to open three boxes each day.
Also while you nice people are at it, is it possible for you to ask tiny co to either advertise an event earlier so that weird people who might think it’s better to sleep than to be on QFS know in advance to stay up (for those as myself not in PST time zone) or the better option as the surprise events are the best part of it is to make all events last long enough that anyone who doesn’t stay up all the time checking for updates get the chance to complete or win all prizes.
I know it sort of contradicts what I first sent but only because if I had known earlier there would be more chances to get the prizes I wouldn’t have spent the clams.
I’m saving for consuela. My town is lacking cultural diversity.. And a cleaner.

Basically it goes by the simple method of picking between equality or feedback in a way.
Equality as in giving people equal chance to get all prizes if they didn’t stay up or were held back or feedback as in planning their event and then change the system based on feedback?

Btw, surely they would have known they would need an extra day earlier?
If there are 12 prizes and 4 days. To get all 24 toys for each day would require u to have the chars on task every second of every hour of each of the four days. Which takes away counting to few minutes it takes to collect a toy and send them back upon a task. The only way to over come this would be to have sent the chars on tasks before the event started. And I understand due to switchover timing glitches it was made possible but if they had gone with their original plan and switchover happened precisely every 24 hours it would not have been possible?

Many people did get all 12…no loss of sleep…no clams used…just time management and playing. It was up to each player what they put into the event to get what they want out of it.
Timing…well…not even the developers can make sure it is perfect. Once it hits those servers or app markets…its all ones and zeroes and hope all goes as originally coded. All in all, still a much better thought out even than in the past. Not perfected, but oh so much better. 😉

I think what they did was quite gracious. I have not really seen another company to date go out of its way to please its players as much as they do. This was a FREE item event. No guarantees, just see what you can win in this time frame. Yes, it glitched…but other gaming companies will still shut down come end of event…this is a very pleasant olive branch they did not have to do. I applaud them for it. 😉

Most companies…well…pretty much every game I have played will NOT alert players to special events. It is their way of keeping you in the game. Us as players may not like it, but as a company…it is a VERY smart business move on their part. I do not see that changing too much. TinyCo has however gone to lengths to try and break that mold in a way. Characters in our menus we can see but can’t touch…just yet. Tease of something coming, but no details. All wise strategies to entice players. I am quite in awe of it. They are doing it right…better than others in my opinion. 😉

Yayyyyy!!! I’ve only been playing for a couple weeks, so as a new “customer”, this is a great early impression of TinyCo! Thanks! (While we’re confessing our addictions, I should disclose that earlier this evening I was browsing the multiverse and contemplating what others are doing with their Quahogs – to pass the time while my characters completed tasks. These really long tasks/build times give me the DTs!)

So excited! My last box was the island. I seriously was about to hang my sheets out and log off forever. I’m a playable character player so I’m not phased by anything in the game except for the characters I can send to do tasks

Pro: People (especially those who came late to the event) have a few more chances to catch up and/or hopefully get Rupert.
Con: I’ve got a very strong suspicion/gut feeling a few more items will be added to make Rupert just as hard to get as he was in this original round of the game. I hope TinyCo proves me wrong because they’ve been doing a solid job listening to the community, but they’ve also screwed over players a few times as well recently regarding limited-time events

So happy! Just opened my last chance and got gold digger Island. Came here to whine about not getting rupert on 10 of 12 chances and saw new post. Two boxes to open and I’m going to get that creepy man doll after all. Tc you rock!

I have a sneaking suspicion you can reset the tasks before the new toy appears and have it work. I’m gonna send the guys on whatever tasks I need to finish Stewie when I go to bed and when I wake up I’m gonna put them back on their 4hr tasks and wait until I see the toy is announced then I’ll tap them and see if a toy drops. There’s no real loss to doing this and if I’m right I get a 4 toy jumpstart on the last box I need to open for the event.

I purposely stayed up until 1 in the morning last night to start the last day fresh- been grinding all day long doing quests for toys every 4 hours…then during the 5th collection (20 hours) instead of collecting 4 more toys to make 20 toys, only 3 characters dropped a toy and now I’m stuck with 19 and won’t get the the last box…
I sent a report to TinyCo in game, but will they do anything about it or will my request get lost in the crowd?

You have to unlock rupert via the mystery box, it’s not something you’ll automatically unlock. Go into your store and you’ll see the box in there listed as free. Click on that and go to buy. You’ll get 3 attempts with your 24 toys.

11 of 12 possible boxes, no Rupert. Sent my characters on new, long missions to get PB&J Brian and Stewie. THEN I read this! Well, without any added toys I will find him anyway. It’s 4.55 am CEST when I write so I’m a bit messed up. Mostly angry but of course happy to get more shots at Rupert.
This game makes me wake up by myself in the Middle of the night… Addict!

Another stroke of luck, I wasn’t thinking and as I got my last… well, whatever those dolls were supposed to be… I sent them on the four hour quests to get more toys for tomorrow. I got mad when I realized I had just wasted the night missing out on items for Stewie, but now I see that helps me. Rare double win for me!

I haven’t won Rupert, yet. And will end up being like 30 mins short of winning my 3 box for last day. So was wondering if I pay clams to end the task early would I still get the toy

Yes, if you use clams to speed up the tasks that drop toys they should drop the toys. The longer you wait to do it the less clams it will cost 🙂

This is what I did. I’d send them on the tasks and cut them off 30-60 minutes early, spending only 4-8 clams to do so. This way you don’t need to lose sleep to get 24 toys nor do you need to spend a ton of clams($5 worth would do it for the whole event).

Got Gold Digger Island, phone froze. Got two Ice-cream trucks! Lol. Oh well they’ll look good in the amusement district. I tried to contact Tiny Co but my keyboard won’t pop up on my phone once I get there. Might be my phone, it’s an S3, but if not I’m not sure how to contact TinyCo about not being able to contact TinyCo anyway. Glad to get another shot at it tomorrow. I’ve gotten everything I have already out of the box so tomorrow will be at least something I don’t have for sure. And I’ve gotten 3 things I didn’t have so far so I’m pretty happy overall even if I don’t get Rupert. I’m just guessing but since he’s in Friends you buy I think he’ll probably be available later on. Really cool of them to give us another day. This should make up for all those affected by the glitch in the first drop.

Well I guess I’ll have to give TinyCo a big pat on the back for this one. Totally made my night knowing that if I don’t get Rupert in the next hour I might get him tomorrow. I hope they don’t add anymore prizes to decrease our odds of getting Rupert though and I would rather the event just be technically over when you get all 12 prizes. Still worried, but hopeful 😐

Long-time reader, first time posting 🙂
I love this news!! Thanks TinyCo! I missed the whole first day because the necessary characters were on long tasks for Stewie, Falconer Peter, & PBJ Brian items. Also missed the last box last night because I fell asleep 😛 No Rupert yet but I got a few items I haven’t had 🙂
So I have 20 toys currently. In less than one hour (11p EDT) I collect and I’ll have 24 for my last box of the day. After I collect, it would be safe to put them on 8-12 hour tasks overnight towards something else? Then tomorrow collect from them when the event restarts and send them on the toy collecting again.

Very nice of them. I’ll give it as much of a shot as they give me. Still a little bummed that Bruce didn’t drop a toy once today so at 10 minutes to the cut off I’ll only get to 23 toys. It’s my fault that I blew it over the weekend though. I imagine because of that I’d need a couple of days extension to get him, but I’ll try.

Bloody Hell!! I just got a Koi Pond and I thought it was the end, but no! So excited, just sad I send my lil guys get some stuff for Stewie other than toys ^^

I played this event very hard and set my alarm many times a night for the four hour intervals to get all of the toys to be able to get as many boxes as possible. I’m a freemium player, but I (UNCHARACTERISTICALLY) bought $5 worth of coins for the free $5 box of clams offer that I hadn’t redeemed yet, so I could get Stewie sandbox and increase my chances. I couldn’t get all the toys for the first day but I have gotten 11 of the 12 boxes. I just opened my last available box, number 11, and did not get Rupert. 😦 I was so angry and frustrated that I yelled out, scaring my partner who had heard me from downstairs. What a relief to come to the site and see that there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for helping to come down this very frustrated player.

Doh! I read this news just after sending all of my characters on 8 hour quests. I could not reach my third box today and gave up completely. Hopefully they wait to launch until 9 hours or so from now.

I’m curious to see how they do this. If they start everyone back to a full cache of 12 prizes then it almost seems cruel since odds are if you didn’t get Rupert before your still not going to get him. And would it be different prizes. I guess I’ll be the Debbie Downer of the bunch and say I’m not sure if this is really going to be as great as people think it will be.

I just got Rupert in box 11 of 12 which means even with the extra day I wouldn’t have gotten him without shelling out for some clams. HOWEVER, because of the game they made and stuff like this where they listen to the community I don’t remotely regret buying the clams.
Now to grab Peter’s Pirate Car tomorrow and call it an event!

That some fantastic news, I still have one more chance tonight with only 2 items left. So with my luck I’ll probably get the spotlight and have to unlock Rupert tomorrow as long they don’t throw in more prizes to screw up the whole process. This…is incredible. The fact that they are stopping the event temporarily means that they can’t change the event ending tonight. The fact that they are GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY to CREATE a supplement is incredible.
I may have been a bit sour at the time management of this event, but I will never hesitate to buy clams again. You have my loyalty now, TInyco.

Side note: Two layovers, 1 Rupert and 8 hours later = drinking adult beverages overlooking the beach with nothing to tap for 6 hours (tap meaning FGG tapping….pervs).

Cool they are extending it, but Rupert is a terrible character! He has no quests, few options and they are all locked early on, not to mention no ‘drops’. These ‘premium’ characters are cool for completion but absolutelyno fun at all

Are you serious!? I’ve been rushing my guys so that I can collect all toys for the day and not miss one like on the first day. Plus I needed to free them up for stewie stuff. I was sure that if I opened all 3 boxes this morning and still didn’t get Rupert I was gonna have to open a can of…well u get what I’m saying lol and now I find we have an extension which could have saved me like 192 clams… SON OF A WHORE!!! Well this is great news. My concern was due to the event starting at midnight CST while I was sleeping. I woke up at 6;30 am so we could get our car placed at the car show. I checked the game and bingo bango there was a new event. I missed all that time to collect toys that night. I never made it to 24 toys, today will be my first time. I still have 4 to unlock, in 3 hours that will be 3 left. With the extension I should have Rupert with no problem.

As someone who was away from an internet connection from last Tuesday through to the Monday just gone, I’m pretty happy I get some more chances at grabbing this character. I hoped I wouldn’t miss anything because a big update had just appeared but apparently there’s always something happening in this game.
