Well hello there all you Keymasters and Gatekeepers. Figured you will have a LOT of questions for this event. As usual. So I am putting the general FAQs in a nice lil tidy spot right here for you. Something to keep you tied over until all the details are confirmed in the Live Game. 😉
Here is the breakdown of the basics. We will go into each one in a LOT more detail in separate posts. So keep an eye out for them. So let’s jump into the FAQ’s from TinyCo…
WHAT LEVEL DO I NEED TO BE ON TO START THE GHOSTBUSTERS: QUAHOG HALLOWEEN EVENT?
You need to be up to date to Version 1.3 in your app market. You also need to have District 3 Completed.
WHAT IS THE START DATE FOR THE GHOSTBUSTERS: QUAHOG HALLOWEEN EVENT?
October 2nd, 2014
WHAT IS THE END DATE FOR THE GHOSTBUSTERS: QUAHOG HALLOWEEN EVENT?
November 7th, 2014 (You can view this information by tapping on the Witch’s Cauldron.
WHAT IS THE HALLOWEEN PORTAL?
The Portal opens up into Quahog and demonic creatures spill out of it. You can use the Portal to earn Fright Points. Fright Points will increase your Fright Level. Fright Levels are an Upgrade to the Portal you can do each week to unlock lots of cool new Halloween Content as well as new kinds of ghosts to clear. Ghosts are good, they will drop items you need to progress this event.
HOW DO I GET FRIGHT POINTS?
You can get Fright Points by completing actions, brewing prizes, collecting rent from the Ghostbusters Headquarters, or placing Halloween Decorations. You need the points to also Updgrade to new Fright Levels.
HOW DO I GET SPIRIT VIALS?
In order to get Halloween prizes and unlock Ghostbuster Peter, you will need Spirit Vials. To get them, you will need to clear the ghosts taking over your Quahog. Each one cleared is a possible chance at the Spirit Vials. Just tap on the ghosts to clear them and watch for a Spirit Vial to drop.
There will also be the option to get Spirit Vials from actions, collecting rent from Ghostbusters Headquarters, and the Spirit Dispensaries (Spirit Vial Machine, Spirit Vial Wagon, and Spirit Vial Cart.)
WHAT IS THE SPAWN RATE FOR THE GHOSTS?
Locate the Portal and look for the “NEW GHOSTS TIMER” at the bottom. It will show you when the next ghost will spawn in YOUR town. Of course there will also be an option to speed up this process to instantly if you are willing to part with some Clams. (The Spawn Rate is still a work in progress so it will vary right now, but MORE Ghosts is a good thing. Lol.) You can have a total of 12 Ghosts in your town at one time. This rate will increase later on with your Soul Level.
WHAT ITEMS WILL THE GHOSTS DROP?
You will either get Spirit Vials or Eggs. (And an occasional Clam.)
HOW DO I GET HALLOWEEN PRIZES FROM THE WITCHES CAULDRON?
Each prize will need to be brewed and brewed separately. You will require items to make the brew. These may include Spirit Vials, Terror Dog Bones, or Banshee Tears. Which can be earned by clearing the Terror Dogs.
If you REALLY like a Halloween item and want another, you can collect more items and brew that prize multiple times.
HOW DO I CLEAR THE TERROR DOGS?
In order to get rid of the Terror Dogs, you will FIRST need to have created the Ghostbuster Peter Costume and have it unlocked. After that, you can then clear Terror Dogs as so…
*Tap on a Terror Dog
*Start Ghostbuster Peter on the task to “Zap Terror Dogs”
HOW OFTEN DO THE TERROR DOGS SPAWN?
Much like the ghosts, just tap on the Portal and it will let you know when the next Terror Dog will arrive in YOUR town. (They start appearing the moment the Haunted House is repaired, just can’t tap til Peter is done.) 6 Terror Dogs MAX can be in your town at a time. This will increase later with your Soul Level.
HOW DO I GET GHOSTBUSTER PETER?
In order to unlock Ghostbuster Peter, you need to start the Halloween event. Once you get to the questline for “I AIN’T AFRAID OF NO GHOST” Part 4, you will start to get the ability to earn items needed to unlock Ghostbuster Peter
500 Spirt Vials : Actions, Ghosts, Dispensaries
15 Ghost Dusters (Uncommon): Quagmire, Peter, Jerome, and Macabre Curiosities
15 Fried Eggs (Rare): Gray Ghosts, BoopityBop’s Joke Shop
10 Psychic Cards (Rare): Chris, Bruce, Bonnie, and Madame Google’s Fortunes
You have until the end of the Halloween Event to unlock Ghostbuster Peter. As long as he is complete and walking around your town before the event ends, you get to keep him. If you are still collecting items by the end of the event, you will lose him.
HOW DO I GET DIANE SIMMONS?
In order to unlock Diane, you need to get to the questline “HELL HATH NO FURY” Part 1. At that point you will then start digging up Diane Simmons. Once you repair her gravestone, you will seven days live in game it shows five days to unlock her. Once unlocked and in the game, she is yours to keep. If the time expires before you unlock her, she will disappear from the game and will not return. You have til end of event to do this. (SIDE NOTE: If you have started to dig her up…DO NOT tap the check mark til you are ready to start collecting for her. Once that Headstone is repaired the timer starts.)
To unlock her you will need to Brew the Electricity Ball and Chomps the Zombie in the Witch’s Cauldron. This will require a total of 400 Spirit Vials and 30 Terror Dog Bones. So you may want to get the Terror Dogs Spawning and some Vials stocked up before you repair her tombstone and start the timer. (SIDE NOTE: If you start collection on the items BEFORE digging her up, they will still count towards her. So you can have them brewed already and then dig her up to get her fast.)
A Thank You to TinyCo for listening. They added a lil info to Diane’s grave pop up now when you tap it. Things like this is why I adore them as a company. Listening to their players concerns (and Addicts pestering them. Lol).
HOW DO I GET SLIMER?
Slimer is Exclusive to Android Devices, so in order to see him you will need to be playing on an Android Device. He will appear shortly after “I AIN’T AFRAID OF NO GHOSTS” Part. A pop up will appear in the game when he spawns, so you gotta watch for it so you can take him out quickly. He appears every 8 hours for only 2 mins at a time.
FYI…he is NOT a character. He is more like …another ghost. Just something to zap so far. Will update if it changes. For now, that is it.
This is what he looks like in town. He does blend into the greenery, so keep an eye out. Also, just like characters, he sticks to roads so those hidden ones won’t be of any use to you if he is back there.
We are also seeing a glitch that speeds you through the 3 Slimer’s task. It has been reported. No worries, he will still spawn.
Just like in EVERY Event so far…. STOP… BREATH…DON’T PANIC!!! TinyCo and many many others put a lot of time and effort into this one. So don’t kill the event mood before it even starts. Don’t rush. Keep an eye on here for helpful hints. Wait to spend Clams til you have all the details and/or can make a confident decision. Above all… HAVE FUN!!! (Or I may send Stay Puft and Gozer the Gozerian after YOU! 😉 )

How do you get the slimer task? Does anyone know? Also, I used to be able to get ghosts sped up in my portal & now it just speeds up the dogs. Is this a glitch?

I’m glad to see that Kool Aid Man has a 1-day task that earns fright points and vials for the event. It means he’s not just a novelty addition to the game, but is actually somewhat useful.

2 things i noticed.
1) you have to COMPLETE part 4 before you can start making ghost buster Peter.
2) my countdown timer for grey ghosts is still at 10+ hours, and i just had 2 more ghosts spawn. . So there is another timer (maybe 30 minutes?) and not sure what the timer for more ghosts is about.

When playing the test game, did mayor West serve any purpose to the Halloween event? I haven’t unlocked him yet and am torn between sending my characters on tasks to get FP or vials or…tasks to get items to unlock West.

So far I have noticed Brayan Cranston, Nathan Fillion, Consuela, and George Tekai all have one (usually their longest one) task that gains fright points and vials. Any other characters anyone notice have these tasks? Also I notice two ghosts spawning in my city about every hour or so maybe a little less even.

I’m confused…I know I know follow the quest lines. Bunny you have that coffee pot going? I made charactors go after the jailhouse items only to find out its a glitch. *rubs my forehead* I’m going to set it down for a few hours. When I come back I’m going to come back to this page…read some more then attempt to take this game again. Searching for the pumpkin sauce……….

Hey bunny, most of my character have the option of collecting a lot if stuff like a bucket, tatoo needle, soaps and a few others I can’t remember but I don’t see who I’m collecting it for. I didn’t speed up anything. I’m just going at a normal pace like everyone. Still building my haunted house. U know who those stuff r for?

Hi, Long time reader first time poster.
Do the comic-con things help in this event as i have some in my inventory,
and they show purple on the little info button.(when opened they show the tombstone background).

Well, I’m already halfway to Fright Level 3, and well on my way with the haunted house. A few more ghosts and I’ll be able to build the Ghostbusters Headquarters. What I’m really confused about is the error message I get when I try to look at the Ghostbuster Peter outfit: It’s Consuela saying “Oops. Ghostbuster Peter is locked until you level up Peter Griffin to Level 1.” Confused about it because my Peter (ha! my peter!) is currently at level 24, with no signs of stopping. Near as I can tell, I have to wait until the haunted house is repair before I can collect items to unlock Ghostbuster Peter. Is that right?

If you read the FAQ on this very post…you will see it is the Fright Level itself. NOT the character level. 🙂

Most of the main detail with be in the main Halloween post. This is just the basics. All the more in depth info we will put there as we verify it live in the game. Just wanted to make sure since you stated he was on 24 that you knew it was NOT the character level. 🙂

ok i usually bash TinyCo but ima go the other way today and say this looks like the best event ever by a mile.
couple random things i noticed.
1. if you turn the fortune teller item (facing right) it becomes the joke shop
2. if you turn the joke shop it becomes tiny (takes same space though)
3. i got 3 slimers and i have no idea why. i didn’t see any or do anything i think
4. make sure to check you characters entire list to see if any action gets vitals. they dont come to the top of the list as of now. example Nathan F. has a 1 day task which earns vitals. how bout that, comicon people aren’t useless.

With the launch of the Halloween update, my game freezes whenever I attempt to visit other Quahogs. This is in addition to my game freezing whenever I try to collect a completed cologne from the fragrance factory. I contacted Tinyco through in-game support and they said these are known glitches – do you happen to know any idea of a timeline on when they will be fixed? Long shot, I know.
I appreciate that TinyCo has shown a history of learning and improving as they go. That’s nice. Hopefully this event will be another step in the right direction.

Btw – this post was very helpful and well written. It seems that TinyCo has erred again on the side of “too much content at once” rather than not enough, but a month is a good amount of time to get the hang of it and have fun.

Why are the buildings not proportionate? The 1 story paranormal shop is same height as three story office buildings and the three story headquarters towers over everything else. Makes things hard to place.

Hey jailhouse meg items have started appearing for my character quests but i’ve yet to get that far and it isn’t showing the costume in Al Harrington’s so is this a weird spooky Halloween Diane Simmons induced glitch?

Will the sweets still drop for pink Brian? I have laboriously collected sweets for the past couple of weeks and I get my last one at 20:00 (g.m.t). I therefore do not want to install this update if the sweets do not drop. I only have 2 hours to wait, but wanna get started!!!!!

Hello, I’m on the quest ” I ain’t afraid of no ghost pt 2″ and whenever I press ‘learn how to use the portal’ my game crashes. I can’t get further into the game! Any advice?

Every time I go to start the game it crashes… Won’t even get to the loading screen. I’m on an iPad first gen… Restarted force closed and deleted and reinstalled app still no joy… What should I do?

Goodness. I wish they would ditch the pop up animations. I had trouble with these during the last event and had to use my phone every time I wanted to attack Giant/Demon etc. Stewie.
Of course opening spell book caused my Nexus 7 to freeze. After force closing and reopening I have the portal and have started repairing Haunted House. Unfortunately I ain’t afraid of no ghost mission says I haven’t opened skill book and can’t get it to do so.

For part 2 how do you open the spell book. U thought I did it, then my game crashed. Now when I click on the task nothing happens. I already have learn how to use portal checked.

Try some basic troubleshooting. The spell book WILL disappear after you are done and turn into the portal.

I have to say, based on them ignoring my request for the fusion reactor refund, I assumed they would ignore this, but they fixed it within 15 minutes! Great service (This time)!

This same thing happened to me. I opened the spell book, the game froze and then when I reopened it the portal was there, but no spell book. I cannot complete the open spell book quest now because the portal is there. I’ve force closed the game, restarted my device and nothing is working. Any advice? I’ve already reported it to TinyCo.

I’m already bored; 12 hours between ghost spawns? Isn’t the point of these games to get people to play MORE often? 12 hours seems like a long wait for just such a little reward. Hoping things get better after an underwhelming first half hour. Comic-Con spoiled me with fun and always having something to do.
