Hey there Tribblemakers!
I know we put most this information in the main post and comments already, but with many still asking… I chose to make it a more detailed post to help y’all out. The New Shielded PeterCraft… Just how do you take one out?
The Shielded PeterCraft launches with all the other new items in Warp Core Level 4.
This Bigger version of the ship is a lil more challenging, takes a lil more patience, and can be a bit more frustrating until you get the hang of it. No worries, here to help as always.
Let’s start with the basics…
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO PETERCRAFTS?
The Regular PeterCraft is smaller, a lil differently designed and more rounded, and only takes ONE Phaser Energy to take it down. You will get one Felicium or one Laser Pointer ALWAYS with this one. See more info on the Regular PeterCraft HERE.
The Shieled PeterCraft is Larger, has all sorts of windows on it along with guns, and takes TWO Phaser Energy shots to take it down. This one will ALWAYS payout Space Condoms with TWO successful shots.
Both will also drop Dilithium Crystals and/or Starfleet XP with successful shots.
HOW DO I SHOOT DOWN THE SHIELDED PETERCRAFT?
Get Ready
The first suggestion I have is load up on Phaser Energy. Set a good amount of them aside before going in as it may take a few tries before you get it down. Have like 6 or 10 if possible on hand.
Now that you have your Phaser Energy, head over to the Phaser Battles. You will be directed there during the questline “Road to Recovery Part 2” or later you can also get there by tapping on the Phaser Battle Icon in the lower right of your Enterprise screen. 
Once in the screen… get yourself familiar with the pace of the New Shielded PeterCraft as it is different from the Smaller one. Watch how it passes through the screen. This will come in handy to take one out.
Test areas of the ship that will turn the target from Blue to RED. Just tap the screen on different areas of the ship. Head, Top, Bottom, and Body. This way you will also know BEFORE using all your Energy where you can aim at and target for to get better chances at a hit. (The Face dead center gave me blue every time.) Side Note: TinyCo also updated the Target Areas of the Shielded PeterCraft, like the face, so watch it and test it a few minutes before firing a shot to get used to it.
When to take the shot will depend on you, but for me the BEST time to shoot it is while it will be on the screen for the longest time. This is when it travels Diagonally across the screen. 
A few other good options are across the center straight from left to right/ right to left. But I personally found that diagonally gave me the most time out of them all. The time it is on the screen is CRITICAL as you will need to take a total of TWO SHOTS. This means aim the Target, light it up Red, take the shot… then do it all over again TWICE …. this all BEFORE it leaves off the screen.
Aim & Fire!
With the first shot, try to do this as soon as you see it coming into the screen Diagonally from the top to bottom or bottom to top. Tap the Shielded PeterCraft to target it. MAKE SURE THE TARGET IS RED! Make only ONE shot to hit it. DO NOT TAP TAP TAP “Fire Phasers” or you will waste Energy as it may have moved out of target range by the time the next shot goes off. You will know it hit as you will see the damage. (Make sure NO Asteroids are in front of it, they take the hit instead.) Notice all the damage in the pic below. It means the first shot was successful. 
Now you have just a short time to line up the 2nd shot. Make it quick as once it leaves the screen, you will have to start again. (It returns all shiny and new with no damage.) So either use your finger to move the target or just tap the screen to target the Shielded PeterCraft a 2nd time, MAKE SURE TARGET IS RED, then take the 2nd shot to destroy it. TWO SUCCESSFUL SHOTS BEFORE IT LEAVES THE SCREEN! (Notice in pic a new one also came along quickly after. Don’t worry, another will come along again. Do not waste your Energy til you are ready for another go at it. )
Target Destroyed!
The info bar at the bottom center of the screen will let you know you were successful in hitting an item and you will get your Space Condom Payout EVERY TIME you completely take out a Shielded PeterCraft with two hits. (You will also get the basic Dilithium Crystals and Starfleet XP for the hits too.)

QUICK RECAP
- Tap the Shielded PeterCraft all over and test for best target areas to get used to it
- Watch for longest time Shielded PeterCraft is on the screen to get used to it
- Line up 1st target RED and fire as soon as Shielded PeterCraft is on the screen
- Make sure Shielded PeterCraft shows damage for 1st shot
- Reset and line up the 2nd target RED and fire 2nd shot BEFORE Shielded PeterCraft leaves the screen
There you have it. The Basics of how to take out a Shielded PeterCraft. Hopefully this will help more of you successfully get those Space Condoms that they will pay out each time one is destroyed.

As some others have said, wait for the lag/freeze. I’ve waisted many diamonds by getting too anxious and just going at it, only having the lag occur and the shielded ship jump and disappear off screen. Patience is what it’s about… Wait for things to line up. Also, you can shoot through it and hit the smaller ship at the same time, but I would recommend just letting it happen, not looking for it.

Been following advice on how to destroy a shielded peter craft. Still haven’t received a single space condom. Wish the shielded peter craft didn’t repair it self when leaving the screen. Then the two hit would be a bit easier and maybe I could start getting the condoms or no Vulcan Quagmire for me.

Thank you! You always have awesome advice! I was having anxiety attacks every time I went into the phaser shooting range. You may hate me for saying it, but I get results every time with the tap tap tap method. I wait until the craft is going slow and then place the target in its path and tap quickly as soon as part of it is in range. It’s working for me, but I can see why you don’t recommended it. I guess I’ve been lucky, but i haven’t hit any asteroids or wasted shots and I’ve been quite fruitful.
As a side note: don’t you think it would be appropriate for Takei to have a task dropping the space condoms?

If it works for you… awesome. I just saw so many comments with players wasting them that way. It’s tricky, so customize strategy to what gets YOU results. 😉

Wow-kudos to the addict who said rotate your device….during the battle. That along with the great advice of wait for the ship to go diagonal or straight across- and after wasting over a dozen phaser blasts earlier i finally got the sunuva….
Uggh I can clear that chore off my list for a little while anyways-until I have to clear 2 more for a quest line trigger. Bah!

Forget about connecting with double hits. Collecting 84 orange energy and being successful on each of those phaser shots is enough of a challenge and should have been good enough to yield the 42 space condoms required. Making the double hits happen before the craft leaves the screen is seeming to be monumental with game lags and small phone screen sizes. Since Vulcan Quagmire is required to advance the questline and you won’t get more questlines in upcoming phases without completing this one, it would appear the event is over for me. I have everything I need for the skin — except 40 of the 42 space condoms. Something just doesn’t seem right about that.

Phaser Energy drops increased. Getting them faster now. Remember this won’t happen overnight. There will still need to be time involved. They planned this one to keep us all busy. Not done n bored that’s for sure

Thanks for this it’s helpful. I was able to accomplish 2 hits within the same screen by starting to the left when it was going horizontal left-to-right but I think there are a lot more diagonal opportunities so I’m going to try that next. Patience is really important so if I find myself feeling trigger happy I step away from the phasers.

Your earlier tips for this were (as ever) most welcome, I’d wasted several shots before realising that you couldn’t let the ship leave the screen in between. That and a little patience makes things so much easier. Energy drop rates are better now and I’m well on the way to unlocking Spockmire.

I don’t understand why people are so upset. Do I feel like I’m behind? Oh yeah. Do I really want quagmire? Absolutely. I get that hitting the ship twice is hard but I really like the parts of the game that take more time and skill. Sometimes I get bored when they don’t have an event and all i have to do is click all the little check marks and send people on more tasks. Besides when things end up being too hard tinyco always seems to make adjustments.

The fact that one shot can be blocked by an asteroid is absurd. I’ve wasted five phaser energies due to asteroids streaking out of nowhere to “block” the initial shot. Since it moves quickly the first two times I wasted the second one before realizing the first one did not damage. TinyCo needs to fix this!!!!! On the regular Petercraft you could blow up multiple things at once. I bought some clams to get the Starfleet Academy but I can assure TinyCo that this will be the last purchase I make in this game. It is going to be a waste of money due to their inability to properly develop the code for this event. I am on my phone at least once an hour and I don’t see any way I can complete this event. Is this really what they want their customers to feel like? The only way they save this event is to drop the Hypospray down to 35 and the Space Condoms down to 30.

I use a stylus pen (large for tablet, mini for phone), much more accurate & easier for me than fumbling with my fingers. I never drag the target anywhere, always tap it into place. Always aim for the body. Most important, Be Patient, like Bunny says you want the ship going straight across or diagonally. I’ve hit it twice every time now, with the exception of the first time I tried, because I was impatient on that first try. Do a few practice runs by just placing the target twice without firing, that’s what I did, doing fine with it now. Hopefully this can help someone. 🙂

I just got a space condom and showed up in the quagmire outfit list. then when i logged back in again it was gone and the number of phasers had been decreased

Make sure anytime you are in the game, you allow it time to sync up before you jump out so it saves your progress. Visit Ollies if you have to. If you still see issues… let TinyCo know please.

One tip that I can share that may help is to wait for the first freeze before you even start trying to fire at things. The screen will freeze at one point for a second and most likely when you are firing (causing you to shoot space). So wait for that freeze (should take no more than ten seconds or so) and then you are in the clear to blast away.

Thanks for the tips, i am halfway through the condoms by now (err, that’s…. not what it sounds like XD ). Lags have caused most of my failures, so now i am always restarting my phone and get close the router for a strong signal before i go pew, pew, pew.
I kept track of my phaser energy and got 16 PE today (just from freemium charas/rooms), so around thursday/friday i could be done with Quagmire’s skin. Then he’ll have to help with Beverly’s hypothingies, i am most behind on those.

Finally! Vulcan Quagmire has his first condom! It’s only taken me 12 orange diamonds, geez. Thank you so much for the info because I had given up any hope of this working.
Also, Bunny/Alissa, any more info on that comment posted by a reader about Klingon Meg being made available later for freemium players? It said she’ll also need stuff from the shielded Petercraft so I’m wondering how best to manage that if it’s true.

Thank you so much! I’m super uncoordinated with my left hand so I need my right to be able to move and aim, simply tapping with the left is easy I can do that lol. Tried your method and I was able to get a condom with 2 phasers immediately.

Ok Tribblemakers, here’s how it goes!
BUNNY IS CORRECT! Patience is needed!
Per the larger craft, keep the bullseye where it is and wait for it to cross diagonally across the screen then fire it once in the front when the ring turns red then again before it leaves!
I Play on an IPhone of the First Gen and i have no problems hitting my target!
If you think hitting PeterCraft is a pain, try tapping all those pesky little tribbles with a small screen!
These Crafts are easy! Just don’t rush it!

It’s difficult to be patient when you hit it multiple times over and over but it still says you just hit once, even when you have other people looking over your shoulder to confirm that you did in reality hit it at least twice.

I totally agree. Ya have to be SUPER patient. I stare at the screen for a while and watch its pattern before I take the first shot. And like you, I also keep the bullseye where it is. I just hit 6 out of 7 and surprised myself. It’s easier if you relax and try not to stress about it. Shaky finger or trigger happy finger no good. 😉

It does when you are successful with the complete kill. You have to hit it Twice to destroy it and only then will it pay out. Not on just a damage only hit. And both have to be a hit on the Shielded PeterCraft. Not an Asteroid or lil PeterCraft.

Great tips, thanks for posting.
My problem has been that I’ll track the ship, then move my finger down to fire and miss the fire button, moving the tracker down to the bottom right corner. But that is a me issue.

It’s more of a bad interface problem than a you problem. It is REALLY easy to miss the fire button when you’re using the same hand to aim and fire, and rushing to get the shot off before the ship leaves the screen. On a phone, at least, it’s very difficult to use both hands with this interface layout. Changing to a bigger fire button that’s easier to hit, a fire bar that runs across the whole screen, or a second fire button on the opposite side of the screen would be a big help.

Patience. Asking again in another spot will still have to take time too. You are not the only one asking. 100’s of others have questions too. Some we have to stop and research our notes or screenshots or other locations. It is not like we have all the answers instantly. Some are easier than others or no questions at all and easier to moderate. Patience. (FYI… I did answer you had you waited a lil longer before posting this you would have seen.)

That is very incorrect. As I stated (also in our Addicts Guidelines up top of the site) we moderate ALL comments. Some just take longer than others. There is no “line” when it comes to comments. No one is first, no one is last. If we do not have an answer and it needs more research… we move on to the next. Push all we can that DON’T need our further help or that already have a quick answer. The only comments we do NOT get to are trolls or abuses of our Guidelines… those go to the trash… so they would be gone… not in moderation at all.
Just be patient, if it says in moderation… it means it is still be looked at and an answer being searched and/or verified by TinyCo. 😉

I don’t understand all the hate about the battles being a bit challenging. ITS A GAME. You don’t get a trophy for just trying. I wasted some shots before realizing it heals itself off screen. I didn’t run here and post tirades about it, I just planned my shots better the next time.

Thanks for that update, however I have wasted a lot of P.E on trying this. I swear i have hit it the necessary times whilst it was on the screen yet it didnt explode which meant i had wasted yet more PE! I have messaged TC via the game but got no responses and given its part of one of the tasks i have no way of progressing at this rate. And dont even get me started on them darn space balloons!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh!!!

Try restarting your device, make sure you have a good strong signal, and make sure this is the ONLY app running on your device. You don’t want anything else messing with the memory and causing crashing or lagging.

I have found the drops from the genetic labs reasonable for those. You can use the room rotation method to guarantee some as well.
The borgs don’t give them up much for me as I keep getting green cubes!

Patience is key with this one as certain routes means it moves quite slowly. The original petercraft can be distracting although I have managed to take out both a couple of times.
Does anyone else get random freezing during the battles?

Yes I have wasted a few shots because of this, I’ve found that force closing before shooting helps.

It takes a bit to get used to but I’m probably get a 80% success rate. Most of my failures now are coming from glitches where shots don’t register despite the target being red before, during and after the shot or rouge asteroids coming from off screen at the last second to waste the shot.

I’ve not had any responses from in game messages during this event. One time my message disappeared after a few days from the chat window so I sent it again. It’s been around 5 days maybe since then?

Yes ive been using this strategy and it works! The only downside is that it can be a very long wait for it to go accross the screen like that. Not something to try if you are In a hurry. On a side note. I feel at a bit of a dissadvantage by being on a small phone screen. For those of you who play on a tablet and a phone, do you notice a big difference in difficulty with this?

The Larger Shielded PeterCraft with two shots? I have got one everytime. Make sure you hit it the 2nd time and not something else. I have seen at times that the 2nd shot will miss and instead peg an Asteroid or the other Regular PeterCraft instead. They both have to be hits on the Larger Shielded PeterCraft.

Great job with the info, I really don’t like this, nice idea but poor execution and too many other objects in the way and phone lag etc. My little bit of advice don’t rush remember it’s taken you 6 hours to get to this point so spending a few minutes waiting for the right time is nothing. Why such high numbers needed tinyco

Fantastic informatiom Bunny, I’m finding device lag is killing me on many attempts but you have my word when I’m succesful I will yell Pew, Pew, Pew. But until that victory is mine I will cry Poo, Poo, Poo. Now I’m off to stock up on the orange stuff…..

This is probably one of their most poorly designed mini games.
One small hiccup in lag and you’ve wasted your time. I’ve said it before. Good idea but poor execution.
That being said, your tips are fantastic. The issue is that one of the hardest to get items comes from this. Hopefully they come up with another way to get the Vulcan Quagmire items.

Hmm… Well, It does carry very precious cargo, the kind that saves lives. Maybe they need to ensure the vessel can’t be attacked, incapacitated and pillaged so easily? 😉

It seems they have changed it to allow the larger craft to “maintain damage” so that you no longer have to hit it twice on one pass. You may want to confirm this, but I missed my 2nd shot and the craft was still damaged for each additional pass (had no more shots though)

Use the tips here. Be patient with it. If anything only try a few at a time so you don’t feel rushed.
