Star Trek How To: Shielded PeterCraft

UPDATE: If you have hit Warp Core 5, go to the main rundown post and see the NEW Details since the launch last night for Phaser Battles. 😉

Phase 5 is Live: The Holodeck (UPDATED)

Hey there Tribblemakers!

I know we put most this information in the main post and comments already, but with many still asking… I chose to make it a more detailed post to help y’all out. The New Shielded PeterCraft… Just how do you take one out?

Shielded PeterCraft

The Shielded PeterCraft launches with all the other new items in Warp Core Level 4.

This Bigger version of the ship is a lil more challenging, takes a lil more patience, and can be a bit more frustrating until you get the hang of it. No worries, here to help as always.

Let’s start with the basics…

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO PETERCRAFTS?

PeterCraftThe Regular PeterCraft is smaller, a lil differently designed and more rounded, and only takes ONE Phaser Energy to take it down. You will get one Felicium or one Laser Pointer ALWAYS with this one. See more info on the Regular PeterCraft HERE.

Shielded PeterCraftThe Shieled PeterCraft is Larger, has all sorts of windows on it along with guns, and takes TWO Phaser Energy shots to take it down. This one will ALWAYS payout Space Condoms with TWO successful shots.

Both will also drop Dilithium Crystals and/or Starfleet XP with successful shots.

HOW DO I SHOOT DOWN THE SHIELDED PETERCRAFT?

Get Ready

24 Phaser EnergyThe first suggestion I have is load up on Phaser Energy. Set a good amount of them aside before going in as it may take a few tries before you get it down. Have like 6 or 10 if possible on hand.

Now that you have your Phaser Energy, head over to the Phaser Battles. You will be directed there during the questline “Road to Recovery Part 2” or later you can also get there by tapping on the Phaser Battle Icon in the lower right of your Enterprise screen. Phaser Battle Icon

Once in the screen… get yourself familiar with the pace of the New Shielded PeterCraft as it is different from the Smaller one. Watch how it passes through the screen. This will come in handy to take one out.

Test areas of the ship that will turn the target from Blue to RED. Just tap the screen on different areas of the ship. Head, Top, Bottom, and Body. This way you will also know BEFORE using all your Energy where you can aim at and target for to get better chances at a hit. (The Face dead center gave me blue every time.) Side Note: TinyCo also updated the Target Areas of the Shielded PeterCraft, like the face, so watch it and test it a few minutes before firing a shot to get used to it.

When to take the shot will depend on you, but for me the BEST time to shoot it is while it will be on the screen for the longest time. This is when it travels Diagonally across the screen. Shielded PeterCraft Diagonal Travel

A few other good options are across the center straight from left to right/ right to left. But I personally found that diagonally gave me the most time out of them all. The time it is on the screen is CRITICAL as you will need to take a total of TWO SHOTS. This means aim the Target, light it up Red, take the shot… then do it all over again TWICE …. this all BEFORE it leaves off the screen.

Aim & Fire!

With the first shot, try to do this as soon as you see it coming into the screen Diagonally from the top to bottom or bottom to top. Tap the Shielded PeterCraft to target it. MAKE SURE THE TARGET IS RED! Make only ONE shot to hit it. DO NOT TAP TAP TAP “Fire Phasers” or you will waste Energy as it may have moved out of target range by the time the next shot goes off. You will know it hit as you will see the damage. (Make sure NO Asteroids are in front of it, they take the hit instead.) Notice all the damage in the pic below. It means the first shot was successful. Shielded PeterCraft Damaged

Now you have just a short time to line up the 2nd shot. Make it quick as once it leaves the screen, you will have to start again. (It returns all shiny and new with no damage.) So either use your finger to move the target or just tap the screen to target the Shielded PeterCraft a 2nd time, MAKE SURE TARGET IS RED, then take the 2nd shot to destroy it. TWO SUCCESSFUL SHOTS BEFORE IT LEAVES THE SCREEN! (Notice in pic a new one also came along quickly after. Don’t worry, another will come along again. Do not waste your Energy til you are ready for another go at it. )Shielded PeterCraft Destroyed

Target Destroyed!

Space CondomsThe info bar at the bottom center of the screen will let you know you were successful in hitting an item and you will get your Space Condom Payout EVERY TIME you completely take out a Shielded PeterCraft with two hits. (You will also get the basic Dilithium Crystals and Starfleet XP for the hits too.)

Here is an awesome tip from one of our readers here…

49erpony

I personally tip my tablet so that the firing button is on my left hand side so I can use right to move the sight .been hitting almost every shot .

QUICK RECAP

  1. Tap the Shielded PeterCraft all over and test for best target areas to get used to it
  2. Watch for longest time Shielded PeterCraft is on the screen to get used to it
  3. Line up 1st target RED and fire as soon as Shielded PeterCraft is on the screen
  4. Make sure Shielded PeterCraft shows damage for 1st shot
  5. Reset and line up the 2nd target RED and fire 2nd shot BEFORE Shielded PeterCraft leaves the screen

There you have it. The Basics of how to take out a Shielded PeterCraft. Hopefully this will help more of you successfully get those Space Condoms that they will pay out each time one is destroyed.

What do you think of the Shielded PeterCraft? Have you found any successful tips in taking one out in your game? Does this help you more to understand how to do it? Let us know.

  1. Am I the only one that can’t hit the regular Petercraft? I still need to unlock startrek Lois and and Locutus. None of my hits to the regular Petercraft are registering. I already sent in a ticket to tinyco.

  2. Why, after updating the warpcore, blowing out the shielded petercraft didn’t drop condoms every time? It’s only me, an update problem or what?

  3. Since the warp core upgrade, I no longer get space condoms for the shielded peter craft….so I have now wasted 8…. the Romulan Warbird drops wallets, but the shielded peter craft only dilithium and XP!!!!!!

  4. Can anyone confirm with the recent warp core upgrade that the condoms do not drop everytime now. I have hit the ship 2 times the last 4 times and no condoms dropped

  5. Yay, got the last condoms this morning. Again thanks for all the tips, “waiting for the lag to pass” and “turn your device/use two fingers to aim and fire” got me to 100% success rate for the last 20 condoms.

Now I just need three more Mind Melt Books until I can unlock Vulcan Quagmire.

  7. I just “rage bought” quagmire for 10 clams. I needed 2 condoms, and had 8 phaser crystals, but due to laggy reactions failed to get ANY! So, 5 more thing is for crusher and I’m ready…

  8. Just to encourage players not to give up, I’ve just unlocked Vulcan Quagmire with no clams spent. The advice in this post was invaluable. Thanks everyone.

  9. I’m up to 26 space condoms after exhausting my phaser energy this evening. Definitely doable freemium, but can be rather frustrating to lose phaser energy when you screw up. I went 20/20 tonight with my shots, but missed a few the other two times I’ve done it.

If they hadn’t changed it to a guaranteed drop I might have quit the event right there though.

  10. I could be wrong but I think it just failed to give me my condoms. I’m pretty sure I only needed 6 and it showed 6. I exited the battle and they all popped up but I still show needing 6. Maybe I misread it before starting but watch your totals and make sure they are adding on.

  11. I had given up but thanks to 49erpony on April 13, 2015 at 3:47 pm (tip your tablet /phone so you shoot with your left thumb not your right)…just hit 12/12. No more frustration – thank you 49erpony!

I do wonder why TinyCo designed it to be so difficult by placing the shooting button on the right.

    • Because using your right finger is common, it has always been there. Every Event

  12. Thank you reader who suggested turning device to fire with left hand. I was missing half my shots before. I just got 12 in q row, unlocked Lois and loctus, and then 2 shots on the big craft. Need more ammo now, but that was first successful shooting I had. (I’m not got with hand, eye, have nerve damage so I normally avoid shooting type game).

  13. Absolutely ridiculous! Do all that 42 times? Tiny Co has proven over and over that, if you aren’t buying, they’re going to torture you with their nearly impossible tasks to get things.

  14. I wish tinyco would let us merge 2 phaser energies (super phaser) and let us shoot the bigger ship with just 1 shot. I am one of those people with the lag problem. I still have 34 condoms to get.

  15. After a complete failure yesterday I took a 24 hour break. Stocked up on phaser energy, took a few Valium (just kidding) and went at it again. I noticed two things: The ships now move slower and the front/head of the shielded ship is now targetable. With these changes and a tip on using a stylus I went in with 12 energy and came away with 6 condoms. Hope these changes (and the suggestions here) help anyone else having problems. 🙂

  17. I messaged TinyCo a few days ago about the head/face of the Shielded Petercraft not registering as a target. I got a response from them today letting me know that they made changes so that both the face and body of the Shielded Petercraft can be targeted. 🙂

    • I noticed the changes yesterday..I was going to post about it and ask if they made it easier to hit but saw so many still having problems, so I left it alone. :/

  18. Just wandering in with a spring in my step and smile on my face to offer thanks as using the advice on here to wait for the game lag to pass before attempting to the destroy the craft, well I just cleared 8 shielded Petercraft with only 1 failure in my 9 attempts this way. What a turn around. I was going to say I’m one happy Bumny, but there’s only one Bunny around here. Thanks for doing this post Bunny and thanks for the others who took the time to share their advice to help out fellow addicts.

  19. I understand having a challenge is fun, and I welcome them in the game, however, this shielded petercraft is more than a challenge. The amount of time to collect the phaser energy and try to hit the shielded craft is all wasted if it is blocked by a meteor or a miss. Being the only way to collect the condoms for quagmire as a freemium player, and not dishing out the clams for Q to help out makes this damn near impossible.

    Like

    • You could dish out for the clams for planet vulcan. Cheaper than Q and easy to get condoms if you have some transporter energy.

    • i agree. what would make it better is if it was just two shots to destroy it period, not two shots before is disappears.

    • Thank you so much for posting “how to destroy the Shielded PeterCraft”.
I have wasted so much orange phaser energy about 14 thus far. It’s sad really lol. It takes me days to get that amount and I was hitting the ship, plus everything else, I was just not hitting the ship twice before it left the screen. Thank you for the tips! I’m going to try them out as soon as I collect more energy.
