Updated 8.12: A new task for Ron has been added, and his items that drop have been changed slightly. Ron’s 4hr task will now always drop green pesticide and his 8hr task has a chance to drop a battery (remember it’s still a rare item). The task list below as been updated to reflect his new task, and a time change to another task.
Hello There Clammers!
It’s nerd city in Quahog these days as the Comic-Con Event is upon us! Not only have the nerds invaded the streets of Quahog, but celebrities are popping up all over the place! The second celebrity you’ll find hanging around Comic-Con is Ron Perlman!
Personally, I’m a HUGE fan of this aspect of the Comic-Con Event. I think it’s incredibly awesome to see guest stars make appearances, as playable characters, in TQFS! It adds a level of excitement to the game, and I’m loving every minute of it! Can’t wait to see how the others make their grand entrances!
Of course to enjoy all Ron has to offer in TQFS you’ll have to unlock him, which is sometimes easier said than done! So let’s take a closer look at the details behind this Hellboy….
Ron arrives in Quahog via the Comic-Con Event. You’ll find him dangling from the flagpole (after Mutant Stewie stuck him there). It’ll cost you 200 Blam! and take 8hrs to repair the flagpole & “cut” Ron down. Once you’ve freed Ron from the webs of Mutant Stewie, you’ll have to recruit him to stay in Quahog for Comic-Con. Of course you do this by collecting STUFF, did you expect something different? 😉
Note: Once the event is over Ron will stay in your Quahog FOREVER, as long as you fully unlock him. In other words you have to collect all the stuff required to unlock him. If you don’t fully unlock him and add him as a playable character BEFORE Comic-Con ends he’ll leave with the event.
Unlocking Ron Perlman isn’t too terrible, but he does have 4 requirements (and one of them is a LOT of Blam!). The items are Rare and Extra Rare so the drop rates & time to unlock him will vary. Let’s take a closer look at what’s required:
10 Black & White Movies
20 Puppies
10 Jazz Records
5,000 Blam!
-You can earn the Black & White Movies by making Captain Hammered Fly Under the Influence. You’ll also earn the movies if you purchase the Screening Theater for 150 Clams (the Theater always drops Movies). Additionally you can earn the movies from zapping Mutant Stewie when he takes over buildings.
-You can earn the Puppies by having Bruce make Bathtub Gin. You’ll also earn them if you purchase Ron’s trailer for 100 clams (always drops puppies). Additionally you can earn the puppies from zapping Mutant Stewie when he takes over buildings.
-You can earn the Jazz Records by making Quagmire watch “My Little Fury”. You’ll also earn the records by zapping Red Shirt Nerds. Records will also drop from the “Q” hotel. You can also earn records if you purchase the Beatniks Jazz Club for 100 Clams (always drops records). Additionally you can earn the records from zapping Mutant Stewie when he takes over buildings.
–Blam! is earned by completing tasks for Characters from Districts 1 and 2 (Peter, Bonnie, Chris, Quagmire, Jerome & Bruce), it will also fall from the Calmterprise, the “Q”, the Convention Center, zapping nerds & Mutant Stewies & can be earned from completing parts of the questline for Comic-Con. You’ll need 5,000 Blam! to Unlock Ron. Keep in mind once you unlock him, you’ll lose those 5,000 Blam! from your on hand total (top left, next to coins).
So now that we know HOW to unlock Ron Perlman, let’s take a look at his tasks once he’s unlocked:

As you can see Ron’s got a few Blam! earning tasks, which is great because once unlocked you’ll have another character to help you earn Blam! Once unlocked he’ll continue with his own questline, Perls of Wisdom, which will help you earn more Blam!
There you have it….the devilish details on bringing this Hellboy to Quahog!

It’s probably just a coincidence but Ron seems to take me much longer than any other character to unlock. 😦
I’m a free player with about 70k blam earned. Unlocked felicia and stan already, but the records for Ron just refuse to drop hehe. Still on 6/10 after all that time, even sending quagmire on his 4 hour task non stop now.
It’s probably random, but I got most of the drops I need for felicia and stan through minion stewies and free buildings, but ron’s stuff… pfew!
On a side note, does one need to complete the quest chain for a character to keep him/her after the event? Or do I just have to get all the required stuff? Some quests take forever to complete and I need their bomb/harpoon earning tasks for now.

Let TinyCo know you are still stuck and having issues getting him. As for the characters themselves..as long as they are completely unlocked and wandering your game, you get to keep them once the even ends.

Will somebody…anybody…answer my question…when tapping on ron then tapping on jazz record should I see the the Q hotel and red shirt nerds as an option…I got him off the flag pole over a week ago and have only showed quagmire and beatnicks as an option…again after tapping on the record should I see or had seen before some update red shirt or q hotel on the list…they have never been there

To our knowledge..NOTHING has changed in regards to who and what drop records. It may not show up when tapped because so many items are now dropping from both and they removed the message. You can send TinyCo a message and ask. 😉

I asked TinyCo about this a couple of days ago but still haven’t heard back. My Q hotel and red nerds only seem to drop items for the most recent celebrity. After I completed Felicia, the Q listed NO items in the area of what could be dropped and I STILL haven’t gotten Ron. Now, it’s just showing the book that I could get for Stan. If I click on the record above Ron, it tells me the only place I can get it is from Quagmire and the store.

Similar to you don’t see all the items offered listed on Latcher Stewie Zapper. TinyCo stated they still will drop from it.

Up to you…as I stated…they will not show ALL available drops. Just like the Zapper. It only shows 2 or 3 at a time. It drops more than that.

Hi bunny…does it matter when I click on ron and then jazz record it only shows quagmire and beatnicks as the only two ways to get the jazz record…the reason I ask this is because now that felicia is off the flag pole I click on her and stereo and it shows the Q as an option and Q shows there is a chance for stereo which makes sense…as far as the jazz record clicking on ron never showed it nor did the Q

I think I have a glitch wit the quest to free ron pereleman. During last week’s big problem I was getting films and records dropping from characters. I appears these didnt register and it still shows that I need four films and two records. Now since the glitch has been fixed nothing that ron pereleman needs has dropped. Alsi certsin characters, like the red shirts, are missing from the list of who can drop what is needed. I just got everything for felicia day and I am well on my way in collecting items for stan lee, but nothing has dropoed fkr ron perleman since the big glitch.

No worries. We can direct you. All the info to contact them is in the post below. They will most likely ask for your Player ID (only if you email them. So have that handy in the message. You can find it in Menu, Account Info…LONG stream of numbers.)

Help! My game does not show in the menu (get one blank for blank clams, go to character who has action) that records drop from stewie, the q or red nerds! Quags not dropping any and I have everthing else but the 10 records and I just want to unlock him! Help!

The Zapper only has room for 3 icons, so all items it has a chance of dropping will not show. The items are still dropping at the rates established for them. You can try what some others have and during the 30 seconds after you defeat Giant Stewie…zap a Latcher Stewie to see if the more needed items drop. Others say it works off and on. The Nerds dropped records for me, but if you think there is an issue…you can try some basic troubleshooting to refresh your game. Hard/Force Close App, Restart Device, or if linked to an email or FB to save your game data…clear cache/data and uninstall then reinstall the app.

Very interesting. We have seen reports of the sparklies replacing the image of items here and there. But it should not impact the actual item. Do you by chance remember what task he was on when this happened?

I had Ron Perlman and he has disappeared. I am using IOS7 version and have deleted and re-installed the game per TinyCo’s recommendation .

I noticed in game there was a message saying that every friday there will be a new Character to unlock… so I’m pretty much near to getting Ron pearlman I already have the blam… i need 2 jazz 3 puppies and 3 black and white movies… I would have quagmire carry on his tasks but apparently Patrick Stewart wanted to sleep over (giggidy, giggidy). So I’m not going to question why he’s sleeping over at Quagmires but okay.
My only concern is the “every friday” bit does this mean any characters not unlocked will be discarded? Because that would suck I spent forever getting all the blam needed which is why I have been holding back just in case Ron disappears. I could get him easily though if Stewart would hurry up and finish his sleepover with the Quag already! >_<
I hope this isn't true because if it is I'd be very cross with the developers of the game making people work hard on their phones only to find that their hard work had been thrown away due to a time and date cycle. Also I hope this is as they say: and all the characters will only disappear when Comic Con has ended, although I do agree that the android users have been given an unfair deadline because apple ios users have been given more time to start the event – this might be because the company gets paid more to make it exclusive for apple… either way I can't complain because I'm on the apple platform and not the android platform.
In all fairness the game should had given both platforms the same amount of time but when the company is probably being offered money to do this I can't really say anything good or bad in respect of the company's game update release policy. As it's their game they are in charge of when an event is released, when an update is applied, what rewards are given for certain tasks, how long the task lasts for, what the reward is, what are the prices on the rewards if the player fails to meet the deadline and/or whether or not they will remove an update at a certain time or date in order to keep their game fair.
Certain exclusives are just that: exclusive content earned in game or bought in store as everyone keeps stressing to everyone else: ALL THIS IS OPTIONAL, and not receiving an item in game due to the fact you didn't sit down and actually play the game yourself should not entitle you to start rage wars in the comments section of every website screaming about how you didn't get the 20,000 item reward or whatever. If however the game seems unfair in ACTUAL reward/task over time return then sure, you have every right to let the developer know that their task is unfair for their target audience and that there might not be enough time allocated to the task they have assigned to finish in time.
I do like that this gives people opinions and the developer seems to actually take time to read what others have to say last time I saw that the developer changed the battery time from 6 hours to 4 hours which to me was great because it allows me to get my rewards needed for Ron Pearlman faster. So in that aspect: good job! I appreciate reading critiques of the game (although I am not a developer of this game) as this gives me insight of what people expect of game developers (maybe one day when I feel my C++ is good enough and I feel like I can step up to developing games I'll have a go at releasing my own game).
Anyway so far I'm enjoying this event hopefully what I said about Ron Pearlman isn't true and I can keep collecting characters whilst I progress through each of their storylines to get more blam whilst finishing these tasks I'm also working on getting to Stewie even though I know I'm probably not going to get to him in time to unlock him before the con ends not that it matters I just felt like trying my best to progress without one event getting in the way of my leveling and progress. Have fun clammers. =P

No, you have until the last day of the event to unlock the characters. Just like Patrick Stewart didn’t disappear when Ron came, Ron won’t disappear when the next character hits. You’ll have the whole event to unlock him 🙂

Also, 500 clams for one character? ¬.¬ think this might actually be the first time I’m giving a pass for premium characters I actually want… maybe if they weren’t asking for so much I would buy him but I’ll just wait for a price drop of some description a character shouldn’t cost that much no matter who he is voiced by. I may change my mind nearer the end of the event but 500 clams is alot to spend just to get one character and I probably won’t even use him that much anyway.

I see a lot of people complaining about jazz records drop rates. I just noticed there might be a bug around it. I still need 6 b&w movies (20 clams each), 7 puppies (10 clams each), 7 jazz records (10 clams each), and no Blam! (I already got all 5000). This should bring the total to 260 but my instant unlock is at 330, which is 70 more. I wonder if that’s the jazz records that are actually supposed to be 20 each for extra rare. Anyone else seeing this?

Hmmmmm, very interesting theory. But I’m not sure if the instant unlock is an exact total of the items still needed. Example…sometimes, if you speed a task up to get an item, the amount to “try again” (still taking a chance you’ll get the item) is greater than the “buy now” clam amount (which guarantees you’ll get the item) which makes no sense…lol. So I could see them charging more for instant completion gratification instead of having the player get a better deal by buying each item still needed, one at a time. Let us know though, if you see an example of the “quick buy” being the same price or lower than the “slow buy”. 😉

Take a look at Felicia for an example. The quick unlock is 1 clam more expensive (which is what I’ve seen before – 1 or 2 clams). I’ve never seen anything else that’s 70 clams more expensive. Also, I’ve been keeping an eye on how it decreases as I get items and sure enough, it goes down by 20 for the records. I don’t mind them being extra rare, the false expectation is what really bothers me.

You know how there’s the option to speed up getting Ron’s items using clams, I was wondering whether this could be used to save on hand total blam! I mean, if you wait until you’ve got like 4,999 blam! towards his 5000, could you then use what would probably only be a few clams to complete that particular item without the 4,999 blam! being taken away?

Incorrect. The discounted Clam buy out takes into account EVERYTHING you already have. Blam! included. So if you still need like 39 Blam! it will factor in what that would cost you in Clams, but it WILL take all the rest you have. This happens with every single Full Character (Skins are a completely separate thing). So be cautious, you WILL lose any Blam! required.

Saw that others have posted they have not seen him drop a single one and since I have caught up to Ron Saturday morning I have had him on his four hour constantly..so far nada..not sure if it is a game glitch or just random bad luck Lol ..so would help if someone says that they have actually gotten a record from him

noticed a weird glitch, not sure kid it impacts the drop rates, but today when I clicked on Ron and then the record, the task about tapping red shirts appears twice. Happened on droid, and ios. I snagged a Carmen shot of it helps.

Correct. Only characters that are completely unlocked and added to your game (their FaceSpace page comes to life) will stay. Any celebs that are in a partial unlock position (still need items) or less, will leave when the event leaves. 🙂

I am actually a Ron P fan….he was in the movie Ice Pirates…ICE PIRATES!! (showing my age). They pretty much hand picked the best possible line up they could of for this event…seriously they could of stopped with Patrick Stewart and that would of been cool. Was highly doubtful they could do a Blue Harvest event on here because of all the Star Wars rights but I now give it a solid possible (one step at a time lol)

I can’t get a jazz record for the life of me, but I’m 7/10 of the film reel. Stewie has dropped one every time since the nailgunner quest popped up. Talk about backwards. Haven’t seen a spare battery in awhile either!

Yeah, I’m experiencing this too! I got 2 early on but since then I’m getting nothing, despite all the things that can drop them. Yet I already got 5 supposedly-rarer film reels from less sources (also mostly from mutant Stewie).

Unlocking Ron is going to take a long time, only ones I have gotten are from thecthree buildings thatnallways drop that were purchesed from clams, 2 days and 2 of wach, nothing from Quagmire or Peter quests, zapped Mutent Stewie 11 times and lots of red nerds, plus the other stuff and zilch, got Peters new costume and Patrick fairly easy which made me think tiny had improved things in collecting, but looks like back to normal with Ron, if this is the case players without the bonus buildings are going to rake forever. Any chance they will increase the percentage chance drop rate if you keep failing like last time. Cheers for all the help and sorry for my moaning 😉

I know it sounds silly, but have you tried tapping on the flagpole?
Ron didn’t show up on the flagpole in my game, but I tapped the flagpole and he just suddenly appeared, demanding his items. Everything seems to be in working order.
Maybe I just got really, really lucky. But you never know.

Not up – to – date on collecting bam (way behind) but at least my characters are moving along. I’m a quarter of the way done toward getting Ron but it’s slow. Unlocked everyone else though (woohoo). Almost up to the part where I can finally rid my town of the needy wizards. I just wish Mutant Stewie would stop landing on the Q

In my town when Stewie lands on the Q it stops the timer on the building making it a little more difficult to collect all of the jazz records. Is that the way it is supposed to work?

Yes…mutant Stewie is evil….he takes control of the building until you zap him, then your Blam and items are freed.

Well technically for me, after zapping Stewie my timer for the Q is only “freed” to finish the countdown. I haven’t had Stewie lock anyone in a building yet, but as I understand it, their task clocks still go down even when they are trapped, unlike the Q, whose timer (and therefore Blam! and jazz records) freeze at the time of latching and don’t unfreeze until he is blasted, and then you have to wait for the timer to finish running down even though it would have already been done. I just wish the Q’s timer continued to tick down like with characters that are trapped, especially since we need those jazz records!
