Week 2 Challenge Tips and Tricks: Cowboy Yeti

UPDATE: We were able to verify in our game that if you defeat the Cowboy Yeti and THEN trigger the Challenge, defeating the Childish Yeti will still trigger the Challenge to complete (even though he is a step up and more HP). So it is up to you to reset the time and hit the Viking and Cowboy Yeti again or just continue and hit the Childish Yeti and defeat them to get the Challenge prize.

Hello There Clammers!

Happy Yeti invading Phase 2 of Miracle on Spooner Street! By now the storm should be blowing in full force in the streets of your Quahog, as the Yeti has invaded the town! (and interrupted Mort’s Christmas shoppers!)

For the week 2 Challenge of Miracle on Spooner Street you’re required to defeat the Cowboy Yeti once in 4 days.  Now I know many of you are freaking out about this..and trying to do the math saying it’s not fair, it’s too hard, they force you to use clams.  Sound about right so far?  Well…i’m here to tell you to STOP FREAKING OUT!  Really…it’s not as hard as you think it is.

Let’s take a look at a strategic approach to beating the Cowboy Yeti and earning the Rupert Snowman!

Yeti

So you want a built snowman huh?  After all it IS Rupert….I’m sure we all wish we could have his abs…

Snowman Rupert

Well I’m not gonna lie to you.  To get this built snowman it’s going to…well suck.  This week’s challenge will take dedication to the game.  You’ll have to check in to your game OFTEN.  It’s difficult…BUT not impossible.

Again, let me make it clear…it’s going to suck & be massively annoying to do.  But it’s not impossible to do.  Here are some tips/strategies to help you achieve your goal:

Remember: This is going to be a CHALLENGE.  So don’t start this until you’re ready and have time (a solid day) to devote to doing it.

DO NOT Trigger the Challenge UNTIL You Have Hanukkah Mort.
This challenge is basically impossible if you don’t have Mort helping Lois.  (it’s still not impossible at that point, but it mine as well be).
Note: If you purchased John, you don’t need Mort to start it.  Just John and Lois can achieve this.
Remember, Peter triggers this week’s Challenge around part 2 or 3 of the main questline.  So if you don’t want to see the ! over Peter don’t finish part 2 or Part 3 of the main questline.  If you do finish that…you’ll have a little buffer.  Peter will first trigger the Clam Offer, then he’ll trigger the quest to get Hanukkah Mort (you can still get him with out triggering the quest), finally he’ll trigger the challenge.  So, just don’t tap on Peter…and if you do you’ll have a 2 tap buffer before triggering the challenge.

Hanukkah Mort

Remember it’s the COWBOY Yeti you have to beat, NOT the Childish one.
Seems a lot of you are getting confused and think you have to defeat the top level Yeti to win the challenge.  You don’t.  The Cowboy Yeti is the middle Yeti and he’s got a health of 10.

2014-12-12 15.06.55

After you get Mort, Don’t Trigger the Challenge right away.  First get close to defeating the Viking Yeti.
Here’s what I mean by this.  Don’t start the challenge right away and waste several hrs of your time defeating a Yeti that you don’t have to.  The Challenge says defeat the Cowboy Yeti, it doesn’t say you have to defeat the Viking Yeti and then the Cowboy Yeti.
So, use Lois to get the Viking Yeti to a point where he has 1 health point left.  You’ll see why in a minute.

Start Mort’s Defeat the Yeti Task Just as Lois is about to beat the Viking Yeti.
As the time for Lois’s Defeat the Yeti task nears 0, send Mort to beat the Yeti (or John).  So when Lois defeats the Viking Yeti and he’s in his 4hr “rest” period…Mort is still throwing snowballs at him.  This will give you a head start on the challenge.

Screenshot_2014-12-13-09-52-29

Don’t Trigger the Challenge Until AFTER the Cowboy Yeti Appears.
Why waste time when you don’t have to?  Wait until after you see the Cowboy Yeti to start the Challenge.  Once he appears then tap on Peter to trigger the challenge.

After you Trigger the Challenge Send Lois AND Mort Every 4hrs to Defeat him.
Obviously if you have John this will go faster.
Worst case it will take Lois and Mort at 1 heart point hit every 4hrs each, 20hrs to complete this.  BUT you should achieve it faster, as every 2 hits seem to be a 2 point hit.  Set your clock for every 4hrs so you can be sure to reassign the task frequently.

2014-12-12 15.13.45

You have FOUR days to do this.  So if you mess up or don’t get it right…follow the steps above again (especially the part about starting the task BEFORE the Cowboy Yeti appears).  You should get at least 3 shots at this, but if you follow the steps above correctly you should get it done in 1.

Again…I know it sucks BUT it is NOT impossible!  This just takes a lot of planning and time management to get it down just right.  If you use the tips above you should have no issues beating the Yeti.  The important thing is to make sure you check your game frequently & don’t trigger the task until after you have Mort. With out Mort (or John if you already made the purchase) it’s near impossible to do.  So as long as Lois has a Yeti fighting partner you should be fine!

What do YOU think of the challenge (remember our Guidelines)? Have you started to defeat the Yeti?  Did you purchase John?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Maybe you should start every new post with your statement every time there is new content. Not that it would stop determined Debbie Downers…

I’m having a great time spending less so far than in previous events while expecting to complete the major challenges.

    Cheers!

  2. I got Rupert using just John and Lois, only yesterday. Never realized I needed Mort to get Rupert. LOL. Oh well. Need 3 Super-Menorah and 4 Star of David Shields to unlock him, still. Hang in there.

  4. Can u get the cowboy yeti near zero and then trigger the challenge? Will it still count as completed ?

    Like

    • Yes. But remember the difficult part on this is getting him defeat in 24hrs (before the timer runs out). So whether you have the challenge triggered first or not it doesn’t make difference. You still have to complete it in 24hrs.

  5. really seems quite a lot of strategy for an item in a casual game … and the first challenge with really little chance if you play the game the “normal” way
but the good thing is: making the second challenge this hard will prevent me from trying the next challenges, because “The Grand Prize!” is lost for me
perhaps i should start throwing candy cane socks at the yeti – i got almost 150 of them useless sitting around (no clams used) 😉

    • i today saw the cowboy yeti for the first time – wow, his healthbar is really long… i wonder how the bar of the last yeti would look like, the 3rd one already has 18HP… a bar with 50HP will look ridiculously long
at last this is something funny to work on the yeti for the future of this part of the event… ^^

  6. I lucked out and my challenge started as Lois and John were already attacking the cowboy yeti. Lois only did her minimum damage once so they had the yeti down in 3 rotations. Good luck to all. 🙂

  7. thanks for the tips, but it still difficult to unlock mort skin, so theres no progress on my game so far. After trick-or-treaters and now this, I think the statement that TC balanced freeemium and premium is not true

  8. Wish we all had known sooner about tasks or quests triggers, and Hannukah Mort…
Am still crafting him right now, but the challenge has already started, still cannot defeat the yeti, and it will take longer than the remaining 3 days to get Mort ready :-(…. Feels like a bad joke. Especially when one tries to find as much time as possible to play the game.

  9. I just. Recieved a reply from tinyco about about killing the cowboy yeti before the quest was started and it states…

“Defeating the higher-order yeti fulfills the quest so you don’t need to break your streak!”

Therefore, no fears everyone, just kill the next yeti and not have the yeti reset. To normal.

    • Should’ve followed my instincts. I thought they’d fix it so the higher level can be defeated. I moved on to other tasks to let the Yeti reset. Dognabbit!!!

  10. if you use clams to revive cowboy yeti, how long is he awake for? just another four hours or for a full 24 hours?

    Like

    • If your timer runs out, the Yeti drops to hibernation, however the game does give you an option to revive him for Clams (amount varies). It will restart the timer at 24 hrs and at whatever hit points you lost him at.

  11. I have mixed feelings on this. I accidentally started the challenge and so I didn’t really have a choice other than to use clams and unlock mort. Luckily it only cost me 90 clams with what I had already earned.

Once you have both, it’s easily finished in 1 day so that’s good, but I think they should have made you make Hanukkah mort first, then trigger the challenge.

    Like

    • I see the problem there, that they would have to reduce the time to make it challenging. But I guess a 24h challenge would have surprised more people (plus many unpleasant comments about the game), than a challenge which will give them 4 days to compete.

In 4 days challenge you can plan ahead and see if you can reach the goal in time or you might spend some clams on it and also important for some is when you can fit your actions in the 24h frame of the yeti.

  12. Oh I didn’t even think about how difficult this challenge would be because I just bought John instantly and had no problems

    • Lol, same here… John is definitely a game-changer. Can’t wait until I unlock Hanukkah Mort, so I can triple team the Childish Yeti… Lois and John don’t seem to be enough, though I had never even thought of the “start iohn/Mort right before Lois KOs the previous one” strategy. That should work especially well on later versions of the Yeti…

As for that strategy, I imagine you would need to make sure not to end Mort’s/John’s attack on the sleeping Yeti until the Yeti wakes back up…

  13. This whole event is the first time I have seen that TinyCo is essentially gorcing you to spend clams. Yes, it is fine for those people who read these article, but this article was not up until AFTER I triggered the event. So there is NO WAY I am getting this one. Which means there is no point in trying for the others as well. It basically forces you to either spend about 200 clams on Mort or the 200 clams on John. And on top of that in order for me to be able to get Mort I have to send some people on 8 hour quests for 10 rare items, but the uncommon ones you only need 5 of and the times for the quests are shorter? How does that make sense?

    Like

    • You just spoke my mind. And how are we to get Mort ready so fast? By the time he’s ready the 3rd week challenge will have started.

      Like

    • I hate when people gorce me to do stuff. I should have Mort done tomorrow so it will take around two days, not really that tough. Also, if you have the cookies (and you easily should by now if you’ve been playing even moderately) then the other items are pretty cheap to rush with clams so it would cost you nowhere near 200.

  14. I’m sorry, but imho this Yeti task is a big fail. As I don’t have Hanukkah Mort unlocked, I won’t be able to defeat Cowboy Yeti, so it makes the rest of the Christmas challenge pointless. I never been so close to stop playing TQFS. In summer I missed King Butt because of the lack of time, but now, although I have enough time – I’ve checked in every 4 hours to send Lois for fight – no chance…
Come on, TinyCo! Stop irritating players!

  15. “Don’t trigger the task until after you have Mort”

Would have been nice to know two days ago before most of us did just that. And with Mort needing eighteen rare items from 8 and 10 hour tasks, one of which is Lois herself, well, the challenge might not be impossible, but it’s impossible to think they aren’t doing this on purpose. I get it, clams = money, that’s the point, but at least put it up for clams straight up instead of teasing us.

This is happening *entirely* too much. Stripper Bonnie, Diane Simmons, bombing trick or treaters for Zuul’s Portal, trying to get Roger in time for Klaus – Really sick and tired of these timed challenges that punish you for actually playing the game as it’s released, half of which are released broken and nearly impossible for someone who even plays 24/7 to achieve. My feedback to TinyCo is to stop releasing so much content if it isn’t perfect.

  18. So something else Yeti related has been on my mind. If the Yeti health keeps increasing with each level and playing both Lois and Mort perfectly seems to be the only way to defeat Cowboy yeti in 24 hrs, then how is anyone going to make it all the way through the streak without buying John? I realize that we don’t yet know what is in store for the rest of the event, but this seems poorly thought out.

    • That’s my concern too! I only just managed to beat the childish Yeti with his 18 life points! I used Lois, John and Mort and it was a struggle!

  19. I just beat the cowboy Yeti it has another hour before it respawns into the childish yeti. I JUST had the qwest trigger to beat the cowboy yeti and it didn’t complete the task!!!!! Now what???????? How do I get it to complete and give me snowman rupert?

    Like

    • If the Yeti is already in hibernation and you DIDN’T trigger the task until AFTER he was defeated and in hiberation, the task never existed til just now. So you won’t get credit for it as it didn’t exist to credit to. You have to trigger it BEFORE he is defeated. That way when it completes and you get the payout, it will complete the task too.

If you have a full time job and refuse to spend money on this game like myself who has been playing since May this particular task seems impossible. I cannot use my phone at work and don’t have time of I wanted to. So can I wait until next weekend to do this as if I need to spend all day on it I can’t until then?

Only need 3 shields and 5 menorahs to finish Hanukkah Mort, hope i can do it in time. Really want to score Jesus out of this event too (clam dropping task?), but 100 blue stockings!! I hope the drop rate gods are kind to me…Good Luck All!

  22. I think i found a glitch. My john mcclain is currently battling the yetti while hes resting. I guess we will see what happens in 4 hrs.

    Like

    • Not a glitch…it is actually something we keep telling everyone to use to their advantage. Have as many as you can battling the Yeti when he is almost defeated to like 2 or one, then only clear one checkmark from the characters. Then the Yeti is defeated and the others are left, still counting down, getting a jump as soon as he is ready to battle again. It is in this post too. 😉

  24. Ok guys. A little rediculus that those of us who got ahead in the game have to let the childish yeti town out and start over. We should get credit for defeating the cowboy yeti when the challenge starts.

  25. Again, sigh, it’s like in the AD event the timed challenge for Klaus to unlock Roger in 4 days.

At all complaining: It’s a challenge, you have to earn your prizes. I think you got the best help here.

Unfortunate, TyniCo did again the same mistake as in AD, they decided to trigger the challenge after the locked character is in the game. Does TinyCo really want that loop hole, that you can unlock the character, before the challenge triggers? We can only use this loop hole because two nice ladies give us the information, others don’t.

Better would be, trigger the challenge one step before or with the locked character.
    1. That way the challenge will start for everyone at the same state of the game.
    2. Also players who are not reading blogs like this will have the same chances.
    3. After the chances are equal it is easier to justify or determine the difficulties of this challenge.
    4. Keep it challenging but fair.

Nevertheless I think the time well chosen and is doable without spending clams. One day full effort for a challenge should justify the prize you get for. If not it’s your turn to decide how many clams will it be worth to spend on.

I am halfway to defeating childish yeti and am not sure what will happen once I have beat him, as the other three are locked will he just go back to Viking yeti? Bit worried as I will not have Hanukkah Mort by the time I have defeated childish yeti and having Mort fight the yeti is part of the questline to get snowman Rupert isn’t it?

    • First…you don’t NEED to tap on the character finder to assign tasks. Just tap on the characters.

But if you don’t complete part 3 of the main questline it won’t trigger. These are all tips we outlined in the rundown post as well.

  32. Which questline triggers the 4 day timer? Is it the one that asks us to have Lois attack the Yeti once? Or is it a different questline?

    Like

    • The main questline. Just after Chris hangs out at home and Peter tells stories. Great Quahog Blizzard

      Like

    • It starts with Carter (?) talking about Nakatomi coming to Quahog, or similar. If you see that text come up immediately quit the game by shutting it down in the task manager or switching off your device, that stops the quest from properly starting. I clicked Peter by accident earlier and got away with it.

  33. The issues in the game are frustrating, and If you miss the challenge, you miss the end prize. Reminds me of Ecto-1. This challenge is impossible without Mort, or buying John, and without Mort dropping his items fast enough, you cant do it. I have run several 10 hour tasks with no drops for Mort.
And if you use the character tab in the upper left, I believe they can trigger-the quests accidentally…That is a problem. I don’t think I clicked on characters with ‘!’ (exclamation point) over them and still the timed quests start because I clicked through a character. So I am going to miss out on the big enchilada prize (Santa, I presume) because of an accidental click caused by the game.
I only wish there were a way to lock a timed task down so it doesnt start/accidentally trigger. That would help alleviated the frustration with this game for so many!

  38. Acutally it seems that this event will be most expensive one if you put real money into it.

In my oppinion this is totaly pay2win. I know, we alll are playing a game which is at least total F2P. And I also know that there have to be some stuff which the creators earn money with. But this event is a total wrack.

Im a player since the first day like many more here I think. I got all characters except of 3 which are missing and all suits for the characters and I spent less than 15 EUR since release. But this event is crappy and greedy.

The figures and all the stuff around the event is nicely done like all the other events before. The difference is the other events where doable without spending money. At least there should be a little chance to get all out of the event wihtout spending money. But I dont see it.

    • One Challenge that seems daunting does not, in my personal opinion, immediately cancel out all the rest of the event. In my Freemium game I have won LOTS of FREE Clams from just this event. Every Cheer Level. Dropping Gifts to Neighbors on top of the already random neighbor 3 action clam payout. Not to mention getting Clams from them in return.

I am earning Cookies and items just fine. It is only the start of week two. Lots more to come. I get what you are saying of what your perspective is…but I am seeing it a bit different.

      • Hey Bunny,

year ofc we got a lot of free clams for doing stuff. We, we are playing since day 1… most of the people which read the post on fb didnt. And even for players like us it will be really really hard to complete the event to 100%…

        Like

        • Freemiums will ALWAYS have the sacrifice of being a Freemium and NEVER get 100% of everything. It is how it works in everything in life. If you want it ALL, you need to pay for it and rightfully so. Without SOMETHING paying for this game, it would no longer exist and they would shut it down. So many things factor into making a game run and many are very high costs. Especially when tackling copyrights.

Time after time I see everyone yelling IMPOSSIBLE from day one, but yet…in the end…complaints they had TOO much of everything and it was TOO easy to get it all and they now want something else for all the extras. Just play the game. Have fun. Don’t over analyze everything. Right now, I see many Freemiums getting through just fine. Not a Clam spent. LOTS to do for freemiums. Lots of ways to earn. It is the extras that you have to make a decision if they are worth your real money. How YOU play will determine what YOU get out of it.

So YOU have a choice. Play for Freemium or PAY for Premium. The choice always has been and always will be yours. 😉

          Liked by 2 people

          • Way I see it, a Freemium player’s job is to see how close they can get to 100% before money is absolutely necessary. If you aim for that, then you’re bound to be more successful that you would be if you either pout and complain that it’s impossible or give in and buy stuff from the start. That way you feel less guilty if you have to “cheat” a little and buy clams to finish a job you put a ton of effort into, or you decide to splurge on the occasion that TinyCo decides to add the greatest movie character of all time to the line up…

Besides, it’s really not all that difficult to get most of this stuff for free. I’ve got a six day a week iob, and I’m not having half the problems I hear complained about on this site. There have been days where I’ve only been able to finish a 2- or 4-hour task twice that I’d like to have been able to do 5 or 10 times, but stuff still works out.

King Butt was pretty chicken-*bleep*, though. I will admit…

    • No you need to let it reset and start over.

Update…another reader just reported he trigger the quest while the Yeti was resting after defeating the cowboy and it automatically awarded it to him.

  50. Got any tips for people who started the challenge last night before seeing this post, before unlocking Jasper, and before Hannukah Mort was finished?

    • Pray? 😉

My best advice just keep sending Lois…hope you get lucky. BUT you’ve got 4 days so focus on getting Mort. Hopefully you have 24hrs left after you get Mort.
