Well it looks like TinyCo had some success in getting the update out…as phase 2 is now live! In order to kick it off you must go to your tree and tap on it (it should have a bow). This will upgrade your tree to the 2nd Phase.
One thing you’ll notice is it looks like TinyCo decided to make a little winter storm hit Quahog…as the blizzard conditions have picked up & some wind is now whipping in town!

You can craft Jesus in the Workshop…BUT he’ll take a while to get. To get Jesus you’ll need:

However, there’s something cool with Jesus….Once you have Jesus, he will help you defeat Yeti. Once you level him up to Level 3, he will have a special 24-hour action, “Turn Water into Clams,” which has a chance to drop clams!
New Premium Character to Buy
John in Argyle’s Limo- 200 Clams. Limo earns 5 Cookies and 1 HC/2hrs. John can also attack the Yeti.
John’s attack level for the Yeti is a 2 or 3…higher than Lois & Mort. Great in combination with them to defeat the Yeti Quickly!
YES…he is voiced. And YES he says what you’re all hoping he says.
For those that don’t know….he’s from Die Hard. And YES it is Bruce Willis voice.
Yeti
You’ll find the Yeti in your Christmas Village. To defeat the Yeti you’ll need Sexy Santa Lois, Hanukkah Mort, John or Jesus (when you get him) to do the 4-hour action “Battle the Yeti”. Each completed attack will do either low or high damage to the Yeti. The higher the level the harder he is to defeat.
You can send multiple characters to attack him at once…this defeats him faster
Each time you attack the Yeti and defeat him you’ll move him up to a new level, where he’ll change hats:
Each level of defeat the rewards increase…
As you can see not every hat is unlocked yet…more will unlock as the event progresses.
You’ll be able to see his health meter as it will float over his head….

How Often Does the Yeti respawn?
After you defeat him he’ll respawn again in 4hrs. When he comes back he’ll be at the next level.
What’s the 24hr Timer For?
This counts down how long you have to defeat the Yeti to keep the streak going. Once you defeat him the clock will reset back to 24hrs. The streak is the only way to get him to increase his hat level…ie you earn more rewards for beating him.
If you don’t defeat him within 24hrs, he’ll escape and reset back to the first hat level…Viking.
What Are the Different Yeti Levels & How Many Health Points Does it Take to Defeat Him at Each Point?

Weekly Challenge..
For this week’s Challenge you’ll have to defeat Cowboy Yeti (the middle level) in 4 days. This should be fairly easy to achieve. Just continuously send Lois to defeat him once it triggers. Although if you have Mort it can make it go faster.
Peter triggers this one after you’ve checked out the details on the Yeti and defeated him once. It will be shortly after The Great Quahog Blizzard Pt. 2. So if you don’t want to trigger it…don’t tap on Peter after that point.
Update: Sorry guys…I couldn’t remember last night if it was after Part 2 or 3 that the challenge triggered. So I went with shortly after Part 2. Better to be safe then sorry. If it’s not triggering for you…finish part 3 and see if that helps it trigger. However, if you don’t want to trigger it…don’t tap on Peter after you get the Clams popup. (below)

That’s wrong. Don’t start that quest unless you have more than just Lois to attack the Yeti.
If you don’t have Mort or John, it is for all intents and purposes, impossible. Lois takes 4 hours to do 1 or 2 points of damage. Because it’s a 4 hour task, she can only get in 5 attacks (not 6*) within the 24 hour countdown. She would have to get maximum damage on every attack to do 10 points of damage. Getting 1 point even once means you’ve lost an entire day because you can’t reset the timer.
If you only have Lois, you also only have two tries to defeat it, because you have to defeat the Viking Yeti first, which will take at least 12 hours with just Lois, and could take up to 20 hours, meaning each attempt takes at least a day and a half. If you fail twice, the clock will run out before you can finish a third attempt, unless you have another character to help.
*Even if you are absolutely perfect at starting a new task as soon as the old one ends, the 6th task would still start just after the clock resets because of the few seconds you lose completing her task and starting it again.

Also, at some point, I accidentally got the dialog from Peter to start the quest, clicked away from the dialog box instead of confirming, and I just noticed that the timer is running and is down to 3 days, 21 hours, even though I hadn’t clicked OK or done the first step of looking at the prize. -.- Awesome.
First 2 attacks by Lois on the Viking Yeti have each done 1 point.

Can dmg be carried over? Say I have 1 hp left to contend with, and John and Lois on standby… Can I deal the 1 dmg with Lois and have John wait 4 hrs to score a bonus 2-3?

Not carried over…BUT…if one has enough to defeat him, do NOT clear the others. This is what helps. Even though he is defeated and on “cool down” any OTHERS left will keep pelting him…and running down their time. So…tap only ONE at a time to clear the hits. Then they have a jump start on time for the next round. It will help it go REALLY fast. 😉

What if they hit the check before defeat?

Then you have to start the task all over on the countdown for the character and WAIT til the Yeti is back up again…so…waste of 4hrs. It is best if any are left chucking snowballs at him to let them continue and NOT hit their checkmarks. It is really funny watching them pummel him with snowballs while he is sitting there in the cave.

I purchased john last night and sent him to defeat the yeti twice. This morning the yeti was defeated but now it looks like john’s “defeat the yeti” action is gone. It’s not even locked. I believe his infiltrate the enemy/vent task changed from 2hrs to now 4hrs. I really hope this is an error because one of the main reasons I bought him was to defeat the yeti.

Is the Yeti in his “time out” for 4 hours? Sometimes tasks disappear if the item is not currently “in” the game. Otherwise, the tasks move back down in position and not at the top.

Every time I click on my characters attacking the Yeti (I have Lois and John on it) my game crashes! Both of them have check marks above their heads and need the action completed. Anyone else having this issue?

Christmas greed at its finest with this event. The prices at Halloween were much more reasonable that I bought them. 200 clams a building is really not good since they were half that price at Halloween. I am disappointed. Won’t be shelling them out this time. I guess I will have to spend 16 hours trying for 1. Good thing the simpsons game has more interesting things.

I bought John immediately. Sad but I actually had to think for a bit about who he was. I thought he was a FG character at first. Loving him so far.
Note to everyone, don’t panic about Jesus. He is the big final prize for this event just like George Takei or Mr. Weed. They are releasing him now so we have some idea of how much to save. Knowing this game there will be plenty of ways to earn cookies before the event ends.

I sent lois to fight the yeti for the first time and after the 4 hours i selected the check mark. It didnt drop anything and the yeti was still there with the viking hat. I was then able to send lois right away to fight him again. I thought he was supposed to change hats and i would need to wait 4 hours to fight him agiain. Plus i was hoping to start getting snowflakes. Is it a glitch or did i miss something???

You have to completely defeat him to get the snowflakes and have him change hats. It’s not just 1 hit, it’s several to defeat him based on his health level.

Seeing as I got up to 200 clams again, and I like to insist that Die Hard is the greatest Christmas Movie (I actually convinced my family to watch it around Christmas last year when we wanted to watch a movie, no one could agree on what “actual” Christmas movie to watch, but everyone was at least ok with watching that), I had to get John.
The fact that he will likely be a huge help in unlocking Jesus is a huge bonus too.
I think Clams are done very, very well as a premium currency. They’re not handed out so much that paying for them is a complete waste (which is good, as people need to pay for them for the game to do well), but at the same time, they’re not so scarce and premium items so common that freemium players feel like they’re only getting a fraction of the game (which I sometimes feel like in TSTO). I’ve been playing since the beginning, gotten all the event prizes (through having to check quite often), and have gotten enough clams to get all the non-event premium characters, plus Nathan Fillion, John McClane, and Stripper Bonnie’s Pole. It would have been nice to get Alien, Predator, or Jason, or Bryan Cranston, but I’m satisfied with this. And premium players could have had a bit more leeway in finishing events, even if it’s not necessary. Big marks to the game for handling of premium currency.

Did anyone get free clams when they upgraded the Christmas tree? I did not, but my husband said he did. I’m a bit jealous that he got free clams for upgrading his tree and I did not. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else??

He may have upped his Cheer Level. Remember every time you level up Cheer you get free clams (2 for level 2, 3 for level 3, etc…all the way up to 10)

Ugh, started Lois last night to defeat Yeti (instead of beating santa for what I really need), and surprise – by the time this morning came around, no longer does she drop snowflakes for defeating the Yeti – UGH.
Oh well – did have a good laugh when I went to click on the sexy Lois, and must have just missed click a bit and a small pop-up of “Well-Trimmed Bush” came up instead. Well thank you game… gigaddy gigaddy

What a joke. I still have not got Jasper and hardly anything this event and what happens? they add more content that costs way to much. You either have to be rich to play this or just lucky. TinyCo really have no idea about Christmas. This whole event is a disaster, timers from the start and prices to high! It is disgusting.

General Notice: If the HP for Cowboy Hat are right (10HP) please do not start the Week Challenge Before you Get Mort.
Lois takes 4 Hours to Attack Yeti, so in a 24 Hour Window She will Attack Him 5 Times (It should be impossible not to loose a second betewn tries…), If her Damage really varies betewen 1 and 2 (Not sure If she cant reach 3), the odds to strike him 5 times in a row with an 2HP rate will be nearly 0…I’m waiting to unlock Mort to Start hiting Yeti. I’ve stoped before hiting Yeti the first time (The Great Quahog Blizzard Pt2)
By the way i’m only getting 4 Bars to defeat Yeti on the First Round…Maybe the Hit Points for each round are wrong (Dispite the TC FAQ).

I bought John as I know he will be very useful in the event. I’ve already teamed him up with Lois to defeat the Yeti once…
After that the Happy Trails Pt 2 task came up which has “Have John McClane Battle the Yeti” so I sent him on the task without realising that I had to wait 4 hours for the Yeti to return so John is currently there throwing snowballs at the Yeti for 4 hours while the Yeti is sleeping but Johns task timer is running and finishes about 3 minutes after the Yeti comes back so I am not sure what is going to happen now…
Will this (is it a glitch???) work in my favour or not… it’s half way through so just have to wait a few hours to find out…

I say cross your fingers. Most of the time you pre-send a character (have them already doing a task that becomes required for a quest), the game gives you credit when they are done. So it should bring back the yeti (Cowboy) and then when you click John, he should do his damage. Just make sure the yeti is back though.

I’ve finally unlocked Jasper after a hard week of working on Sexy Santa Lois and her removing Store Santas.
The only thing that’ll top having John McClane in the game is to also have Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon, which also happens during Christmas.

I’m seriously considering buying clams to get John, especially since there’s the offer to get cookies and snowflakes as well. But I’m a little confused about the offer, which states I have to buy a clam package of $9.99 or more, because there is no $9.99 package available.

the 275 clam option is our 9.99 option here in the US.

But you should also tell him to e-mail TC (probably won’t help this time, but should help later times) as it is kind of unfair for players not in US to have to do conversions just to get a bonus. TC should say buy 275 clams and receive bonus. That way there isn’t any confusion.

Some random questions for y’all:
1) When you defeat the Yeti, does the 24 hours include the 4-hour respawn?
2) What is everyone’s feeling on getting Jesus without John or the premium building the generates the snowflake? Have a feeling Mort is going to take a while to unlock.
3) Once you unlock Jasper, is it worthwhile to keep clearing the Santas for the dolls? It’s like their usefulness has dropped off completely.
4) My tree says level 4 HC is needed for the next upgrade – did we skip level 3?

4: No. The number is just to let you know what YOU are required to be at for the next level up of the Holiday Tree. Cheer Level 4 will need to be hit in order to be able to start the next phase.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the clam deal. This is the only game I’ve ever decided to purchase things for, but it feels ridiculously justified. If I were to spend $10 on a movie, I’d be entertained for 2 hours…but TinyCo entertains me pretty much 24 hours a day for months on end. Why shouldn’t they have a measly 10 dollars from me for all of the work they do? And they’re even giving me more back in return. Great company, and I love this break from collecting “rockets” for an event =)

well i think John falls in the same category as Predator and Alien. they’ve all been shown and referenced on the show and they’re all owned by Fox. so using them was probably really easy to achieve you know? plus Die Hard IS a christmas movie….maybe the story itself isn’t “christmas-ey” but the setting is so i think that qualifies. and this is totally a movie Peter loves so he fits in with the world too. 😛

Alissa made a good point in another comment. Might need dolls to get different gift boxes not yet in the game from Santa’s present factory. I’m going to keep Jasper grinding away at getting dolls as much as possible just in case.

Solid advice needed please… I have the (mis)fortune of going to Cuba for a week starting Tuesday… unfortunately there is basically no wifi available anywhere at or near the resort. I want to max out this event… meaning crafting Jesus and all characters/skins that I can, achieving what I can for the weekly challenges, and timed events. Tuesday to Tuesday means I’m basically pooched not just for this week, but next week too!

Let’s say I budget $20, 600 clams, to invest in this what is the best strategy? I suppose 200 for McClane… but is that enough with he and Lois to get the Yeti achievement by Monday? Mort may not unlock until then, or with the Pharmacy (another 100), maybe Sunday or Monday. I don’t want to spend 200 on Mort to speed him up, because the whole point is the fun of collecting the items.
If I don’t start the Yeti achievement, will it disappear next week or will it hold over? For next week’s achievement, if I only start it the following Wednesday, does it disappear the next day?
How about any storyline timed events like for Jasper? Any chance I’ll miss those or are those not based on weekly deadlines?
Next week will be a bigger problem than this week though… and overall, who knows if I can achieve the big prize (Jesus forever turning water into clams) if I lose a week of collecting!

It takes 16 Clams each hit from Lois. You CAN essentially do it with just her by speeding her up over and over. It takes at least…I want to say…5 or 6 hits on the cowboy hat to clear him. I just tried it and ONLY used Lois and got the Challenge snow Rupert. So…it will depend on how many times YOU have to speed up the task. But it can be done with just her speeding through…BUT…I needed him to trigger it. So I am not sure how to do it without unlocking him, but the more items you win the less he will cost to do so. Also, not sure how long the weekly challenges hang around. I will ask and see if they can clarify.

They may still come into play in another box. Remember with Halloween there were boxes where you needed all 4 items….

FYI, it appears that with the Yetti that the attack time resets each time you add another character. Although each is a four hour time, if you don’t have both start at the same time it takes 4 hours from the last character added. I put Lois on the task and then 1 hour later bought McClane and put him on the task. Now Lois is taking a total of 5 hours to complete. She has been on the task for 3-1/2 hours but is showing 1-1/2 hours remaining which is the same time remaining as McClane.

thats interesting because i did the same though the opposite, i had John doing it for an hour and then added Lois. but i didnt encounter your issue at all. John finished first, and then an hour later Lois did.

Do anyone know yet if the drop number of snowflakes increases with the yeti’s level? I’m trying to figure out how feasible Jesus is 🙂

Seems like it’s going to be impossible to unlock Jesus. Since I can’t spend any real money on this game I’m still waiting on 1 more item to unlock Jasper. And that’s taking up all of Lois’ time. Once I finish that I can finally start the yeti, but she will be alone for awhile while it takes me 4-7 days to get everything for Mort’s costume.
Such a hard game to not spend money on.
