Hello There Clammers!
Phase 3 of Christmas hit our Tiny Quahogs late last week & with it brought a whole new slew of tasks and questlines to keep our magic fingers busy! We’ve already broken down the main Phase 3 questline, Profits vs. Prophets, and now it’s time to take a look at some of the side quests that popup during this third phase of Christmas.
In this post we’ll cover the questlines for Jingle Joe & Babs Pewterschmidt. We’ll also over the questlines A Very Jewish Christmas, Charity Case & It’s Better to Give (yes, I know technically this one popped up during phase 2…). This will give you guys a good indication of who needs to do what to complete all the aspects of Phase 3.
Note: We won’t be covering Jesus and Puppy Brian in this post. I will cover those guys each in their own separate post. And that info will be coming soon.
So now…let’s tackle those side quests
These questlines will be posted in order (so Five Golden Rings Pt. 1, 2…Hustle and Bustle Pt. 1, 2..and so no). So these will not necessarily be how they popup in your game.

Hello and Merry Christmas…. What is the trigger for the Babs questline? It has not yet started on mine and it has now rolled over to the final week. Granted I am still collecting items for Jingle Joe (I was away without wifi access for a week! 😦 ) and haven’t done all of the other questlines. But I don’t want to miss out on it. When is the Five Golden Rings questline triggered so I can repair the train station?

Yes. You have to complete the rest of the previous Phase questline to move on to the next.

Q. Top Hat Yeti
What is the health level for Top Hat Yeti.
Given that I’m assuming it’s higher than 18 it looks pretty difficult to defeat without premium characters.
Has anyone managed it?

Hmmm… let’s see…
In 24h there is a (theoretical) max of 6 attacks on Top Hat yeti using the freemium characters of Mort, Louis and Joe who average 1.5 health points per attack… (1 point or 2 points)
Max poss health points = 1.5 health points x 3 x 6 = 27 points…
Wow… that’s tough! Even with the ‘start throwing snowballs before Yeti Hibernates trick…
Has anyone managed it without using clams? I suppose it’s easier if you have Jesus!

Does anyone know how to defeat Top Hat with only Joe, Lois and Mort? I spent clams to get Joe faster, but still can’t defeat Top Hat. Do I also need to use more last little clamsies to speed up the process?

the Yeti is impossible I have Mort, Lois and Joe every 4 hours and I can’t even beat the 3rd Yeti. 95% of the time they are only doing 1 damage instead of 2. I am just completely giving up seeing as there is no possible way I will make it to the 4th top hat Yeti, let alone get enough snowflakes to unlock Jesus.

Hey! I was wondering, I never got the Griffen Xmas skin. I believe it came in the first box and I have a couple of buddies that got it but for some reason I never did. Any idea why? I was hoping it’d just show up later (for no clams) but I’m starting to lose hope.

I know some people are able to rack up Christmas cookies really fast, wondering how you do that. Obviously I need about 20k cookies for baby Brian and Jesus but in about 2 days I’ve only collected 2500. Any tips?

I’ve had Joe and Babs for over a day, but I’m just not getting good enough drops with the wrapping paper to get Puppy Brian, and fighting the yeti has been very slow going. I should be good on the cookie front for both Puppy and Jesus, but I’m only getting one wrapping paper stocking for every third or fourth group of nice/green sweater procrastinators I hit. Basically, 1 stocking every 4 hours. The slow pace is really killing me, since I won’t be able to log in as often once the family arrives tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that there’s some conversion introduced that will help on the stocking front as we move into the last week of the event.

Same here on all fronts! I’m worried about cookie counts and I think I can get enough snowflakes in time for Jesus, but it’s gonna be close. I would love to be able to trade coins or clams to unlock the both of them.

i found Bunny Hill under ‘buildings’, rather than the ‘event’ listing, tho’ it was still presented as an ‘event’ item, by way of color and border and such… this was also true for the Gazebo and kiddie Train. guess i need to leave no stone unturned.
the three were still available to me for cookies.

Any insight on which to go for first, Jesus or Puppy Brian?

Well Jesus has option to drop clams now and then on his task. He also helps to fight the Yeti. He has some amusing outdoor tasks.
The Puppy Brian…well he is soooooooooooo frakkin teeny n cute. Just adorable. Even his tasks.
I would say it depends how fast you are earning items. Still time in this event. If you can make up the cookies quickly, go for the Puppy then Jesus. If you have to pick one…well…that is down to personal choice of which one would make YOU the happiest.

Thanks, Bunny! I think I’ll go for Jesus first, based on the yeti fighting and clams. I feel like I’m flying through this event, so I have no doubts about getting both. The only clams I’ve spent were on Die Hard.

Got puppy Brian today and the first task is to dig up flowers. The task box also says “Chris plays with puppy Brian”. However when I click on the task it just pulls up the griffin house and who’s inside. No clue what is needed here. Even when Chris is free the task won’t start. ??? Is some other char needed?

Is Brian inside of Griffin’s? If so, the Puppy Skin IS Brian… so you need him free to complete the task in his Puppy Skin. 😉

I just got Joe and Babs. I need 11k cookies for puppy Brian ans Jesus, 23 wrapping paper and 29 snowflakes. I think I might be able to do it. The top hat yeti helps a lot.

So Iv got all the items for babs I go to do the final unlock and the game crashes, I go back to the game hand the game has reset to just before I unlock babs.
This keeps happening does any one also get this?

With all of these quests I’d like to see something in the game like a quest tracker. It can show you how far along you are on a particular quest. I can’t remember the names of all of them. When I read about them I don’t know if I finished them or not. I know we have the active ones on the side of the screen, but I think a tracker would be nice.
So far I’m only working on getting Jesus. One more yeti defeat and he’s done. I took a break from yeti to clear up some of these quests. Otherwise I’m only a few more cheer points from level 10 ( I’ll get more than enough from Jesus for level 10), and just patiently waiting for the last tree upgrade.

Has anyone else had an issue with the Yeti? I defeat him (Viking) and he rests and rests and then returns at the Viking level instead of moving on. It’s not that I missed the next level, it just never appeared. Just curious.

Odd. Report it. If you actually defeat him and it is not a timed out loss, he should move on to the next. Let them know from your game.

I got Babs, Jingle Joe, Jesus, and Puppy Brian in that order! Freezing shoppers really helped me target the green ones and I have every character workings on cookie actions to get more for phase 4! Can’t wait to get Santa too!

Has anyone else had some gingerbread cookies go missing? An hour ago I had a little over 15,000. When I went back in the game a short while later, I only had 14,144. I didn’t buy anything, and all of my gift baskets have been purchased.

Did you earn some that did not sync up with the game? My suggestions is ANY time before you leave…travel to Ollie’s for a minute just to sync up the game. That way you can ensure everything was saved and you didn’t leave the game to fast before all the items collected and saved your progress.

Has anyone beet Childish Yeti without John McClain? I currently have Jingle Joe, Mort, and Lois trying and it looks like it still isn’t close to impossible. Mathematically, you can only attack 6 times in a 24 hour period. If each character gets 1 damage each time, you will need to use all 6 attacks to be successful, If you have a life and sleep, forgot about completing this without McClain. With time quickly running out, Phase 4 will needs to be huge and give really helpful tasks,

I agree. I’ve only beat the yeti a few times and I haven’t beat the childish one yet. I’m very frustrated that Babs doesn’t have a yeti action or furbal action, considering that all the rest of the Christmas characters and skins do…

I very closely almost beat him with only 2 freebies, i got distracted and wasted clams… with three he is easy, as each one can theoretically do approx 9 damage each… childish is only 18, so BAM!

David – It’s one OR two health points per attack. It seems to be a roughly a 50/50 chance on the damage you’ll inflict.
Right now I’m on 20h on the timer, I have 18 health points to go and I have Joe, Louis and Mort working on him. Given an average of 1.5 health points damage per hit I should be done in 4 hits (or 16h). Not easy but mathematically possible unless I mess up.
I’m more worries about Top Hat Yeti as that might be a step too far…

Oh, why is it when you have no bombs/furbals, all the nice shoppers all congregate together and walk around practically holding hands or doing the Conga. As soon you have some furbals, and looking through the bombing reticule – SCRAMBLE! SCRAMBLE! What the hell?! (Sorry, wrong post? 😉 )

Perhaps I misread my timer (but I checked and double-checked because I didn’t want to be wrong!) and it appears that the timer now reads to end at 2 pm PT. My mistake. However, my thoughts on snowflake stockings still ring true. Still a difficult if not impossible task.

I didn’t know that the tap-freeze is working now. To be honest bombing these shoppers has been the easiest of the sort for me. It helps that they’re slow, don’t change directions or run away.
During the last event I was able to essentially divide my town in two by just replacing three streets with three buildings and noticed the spawns would all funnel through the same area to get from side to side so I made a short maze at that location. It’s worked again for shoppers and that thing gets stuffed with them if I give it time. No tap-freezing needed. 🙂

They have added additional things and people that can unlock wreaths for jingle joe. Now quagmires cabin can also drop them. Which is should help me unlock him sooner.

Got Joe and Babs. Now just biding my time saving up cookies for puppy Brian and Jesus. At about 10,500 cookies. So If I don’t get enough for Jesus , I will have puppy Brian for sure at least. That’s how I look at it.

I just hope that I have enough time to complete all the quest lines. I’m still concentrating on getting top hat yeti defeated (finally got jingle joe), puppy B and then Jesus. Got babs yesterday. So much to do!
On a side note thanx tiny co for the ability to freeze shoppers – went from super frustrating to super easy to furbal them!

Still can’t get on the game :(, crashes on the loading screen. Have done everything prescribed but to no avail. Contacted tinyco, they replied saying they are aware of an issue. Also stated to uninstall and reinstall, but still doesn’t solve the problem. I think I’m getting withdrawn symptoms, getting the shakes lol.
But seriously I hope it gets resolved soon, spent a bit of money on the Christmas update, so don’t want to miss out on anything.

Has anyone else noticed that the timer for this event has been changed with the latest update to now end at 7 am PT on Dec. 31? Less time to acquire snowflake stockings for any chance to get Jesus. It would have been nice for TinyCo to let us know when they unveiled Jesus that it would be virtually unobtainable for freemium players. The one-day delay in the latest upgrade was one less day to have Jingle Joe working on defeating the Yeti and now they have shaved six or more hours off the end of the event. I play A LOT and I need 85 snowflake stockings for Jesus now in eight days. Without another way to achieve snowflake stockings besides the ill-conceived yeti tasks, the math just doesn’t work. I play freemium because I enjoy the challenge rather than just purchasing my way through tasks because that is what is fun for me (no disrespect to those players who do it different). Perhaps a converter of other stockings or non-yeti defeating tasks (with reasonable time elements) or drops from snowmen or shoppers in the next upgrade will give a realistic chance of acquiring more snowflake stockings. Short of that, having to craft Angel Bruce (?) for three or more days after the next upgrade to assist won’t be good enough if you have to restart the yeti timer and lose an entire 28 hours during that time frame. I know they are under some self-imposed pressure to end the Christmas event so they can do a weekend New Year’s mini-event (we all see that that is what they are doing, right?), but we had a Thanksgiving mini-event during American Dad. What’s wrong with having multiple events at the same time to give players a chance to finish up tasks? I have been patient since Jesus was unveiled because with George Takei and Mr. Weed I knew through smart and consistent play I could obtain them. Time is becoming shorter and shorter and I don’t see that option for Jesus with just eight days remaining. It is quite disheartening especially for a character of that magnitude during this time of year. I kind of feel “grinched” by TinyCo. I mean, it’s Jesus! I have let them know through my game about this and I hope other freemium players feel similarly.

Got Joe and Babs, but do find it irritating that they flood us with tasks/quests that require actions from characters that are busy defeating the yeti, or collecting furbals – tasks that need to be done to unlock Jesus and Puppy Brian, so the quests just build up in the side bar. Some of these tasks can be done, say, when the yeti is recovering, but most are well over the 4 hour mark, so you end up losing out. I for one am concentrating on getting my “stuff” to unlock the extra characters, in the hope that I can complete the quests later. My suggestion – use some of the other characters, or have the option to “wake up” the yeti when you’re ready to start bashing him.
