UPDATE 12/22: Per TinyCo… “The 1.5.5 update for Android is out! It may take a few hours to appear in your store. Once you update, you’ll be able to visit neighbors as normal – and you can tap those pesky Procrastinators, stunning them with your mighty finger.” Also, for those of you having the “Event Ending Prematurely” issue, this should help resolve it. If you still are experiencing it, please email them right away at help@tinyco.com
UPDATE: I have been going back and forth with TinyCo on these issues. They are fully aware of all the different things going on causing the Pop Up. They are working on way to help fix it. Hang in there.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE: For those of you rounding the Profits vs Prophets Part 10, there IS a wording glitch in the dialog. It states to hit Cheer Level 6 and to Upgrade to the Jolly Christmas Tree…however what it SHOULD say is the Festive Christmas Tree, which will be the next Tree Level released. So essentially all players will stop at this point until the Next Tree is released.

Bouncing by with some details and info to help out with an issue we see spreading to players. “Upgrade/Update Game”.
So there are a few things going on and I just want to clarify what is NORMAL to see and what may be an issue.
A patch did hit iOS users for their game. Due to this, players on alternate devices may be impacted in the following ways…
1: If you have Neighbors via Facebook that are on iOS, you will not be able to visit them as they have a newer version of the game. Instead you will see the message telling YOU to update in order to be able to see them. For now, you will have to pass them by.
2: If YOU are on iOS and got the patch, you will not be able to visit players on alternate devices as YOU are on a different version of the game. You will have to pass them by until they get the update too.
3: If you play on BOTH iOS and an alternate device, your iOS may have updated while you were in the game. If this is the case, you will not be able to play on any other device until they get the update too as your game already recognizes the newer version of it. So you will have to stick with iOS until then.
Now for those that may be having a glitch. If you do NOT have iOS, do NOT play on multiple devices, and ONLY have Android…if you see the message to Update to continue playing…TinyCo needs to know about it.
So if NONE of the 3 circumstances above apply to you, but you are still being told to Update, contact TinyCo ASAP. Let them know the following…
When did the issue start?
Does is show up on the launch screen or once you go into the game?
Did you start to get this message AFTER seeing it in a Neighbors town?
Can you play at all?
Send the details through your in game messaging (Menu, Help, Contact). If you are not able to get in the game, send them the message via email at help@tinyco.com.
Also, please post the issue here so we can help track it. Just answer the 4 questions above. Hopefully this will help track down those actually having a glitch vs those just experiencing the pop up but need to just wait.

I have contacted tiny Co about the update glitch I only use my android and it pops up when I try to visit my friends (it won’t let me visit anyone it just goes back to my game in progress). Also are the last minute shoppers supposed to drop anything besides cookies, because mine are only dropping cookies. I have also contacted them about this and haven’t heard anything from them.

They will drop multiple items…cookies…stockings…possible clam. So a mix. It is in the FAQ.
As far as the visiting friends, you will have to wait til Android gets the update too.

I only have the one actual friend in-game and he must run iOS because I am also having the “pop-up for upgrade keeping me from even visiting Ollieland” problem. So I opened my fancy gift box and it gave 1000 gmen, after this it still was not locked and I could wrap another gift. Not sure if I want to use 750 gmen and 3 wrapping paper just to basically net 250 gmen – will this continue? Are there other possible gifts besides 1000 gmen? Is this a known glitch? I never saw option for 1000 gmen when I viewed prizes while making the other gifts.

Did you tap on the green “Prizes” Option instead of “Open Me” and it tells you what is inside. I agree, don’t waste items if you don’t need to. If you feel you got all inside, don’t make anymore.

Is he a place able like megs boyfriend or any other item really, or its he a character? I ask the latter cause it didn’t seem like the normal placement gig and now I can’t find guiler him anywhere! Fancy gift box bug???
So I’m pretty sure I already got everything in the fancy gift box – bijou, Hanukkah bush, log, tea seat and mall skin – but it was still available for me to make a new gift – it had a check in lower left but not greyed out – has anything new been added? I’ll know in 3 hours if anything actually gets made or if it’s a glitch. I had 35 wrapping paper stockings so I figured that I’d try (I still need 4000 gmen to get puppy Brian – since I’ll get Jesus tonight and need enough for joe).

I know it hangs round for you to complete the task in the questline, that is to make a fancy box. Beyond clearing that task, you won’t need it anymore.

Thanks for figuring out what was/is wrong and communicating with TinyCo about it! It makes perfect sense now that I know iOS got an update that android didn’t, but prior to learning that it was just really frustrating. I’m still sad that I lost any chance of defeating my childish yeti today due to not being able to get on via my android phone while traveling, but what can you do. I am surprised TinyCo went ahead with uneven updating though, given all the problems users are experiencing as a result.
Out of curiosity, was the new update the thing that gave us the ability to make our procrastinators freeze for a few seconds? That update was very welcome…but it sucks for android users if they don’t have it.

I’m ONLY playing via my Android. In the past couple of days, the “update” menu had started popping up when I’m *attempting* to visit and give gifts. However, I’m a persistent ass and I continue trying. Normally and eventually..the game takes me away from my game in progress and drops me to a random neighbor’s place.
If at first (fifty) you don’t succeed keep on trying!
I bought AND worked for a bunch of gifts and have only hung onto a few. I hope this glitch gets fixed. It’s SO grinch~esque!

Hello, I play only on Android devices, and I do have the glitch that says I need to upgrade my game.. However there is no update available.
-I only get the error message when I want to visit my neighbours.
I visited my neighbours the last time round about 5 hours ago, at that time it was still working ok. Now I want to visit again to send a Christmas Gift, but I get the error. So it started between 5 hours ago and now.
-It doesn’t show up on launch screen, only when I try to visit neighbours.
-I first started to see the message on my own town page, when I wanted to visit a neighbour.
-I can play so far so good, that I know of.. don’t know yet what happens when their jobs are done..

Bunny, I love you, but I’m PO’d. The ORIGINAL game used to let us re-start the Yeti at the first level, but now we have to IMPOSSIBLY (unless we PAY) start at the last conquered level. This STINKS. (With all due respect, as I know that you do not work for them).
It is IMPOSSIBLE to go forward without paying. So, I won’t!.

The upgrade issue happened on my iPad about 3 weeks ago. As a result I could not see my FB friends.
It has since happened on my Android phone yesterday morning 12/20. Now I can’t get into my game on my phone anymore w/out an upgrade message popping up when I try to launch it.
I can still play on my iPad but it won’t link to my FB but on my Android phone… I can’t get through at all.

I didn’t know there were so many issues. I have not been playing that long. The only issue I seem to be having, is sometimes when I forget and the screen turns off and I log back in, the streets are black. I just assumed it was because both my phone and tablet are 4K resolution and it is not supported. I fix it by hitting close all in the task manager and restart the game.

So are they really going to do the upgrade on Christmas Day as the timer indicates?
My bet is they postpone again until Friday, backing up Bruce unlock for players, generating tons of negative feedback, prompting an extension of the event, meanwhile the New Years mini event that was planned to butt up against the Christmas event overlaps, generating more negative feedback & vicious Facebook posts as we all ring in the new year.

My wife has android and is having problems visiting her friends. I have iOS but I am still able to visit her. I can give her gifts and all. No worries. She sent TinyCo. a message and hopefully they’ll get it fixed. That’s the only issue she has from it. Oh and I can tap in the shoppers to make them stop to get bombed. She cannot. That’s all though. She has written TinyCo. before, they have NEVER written her back. It’s weird though, cuz they have written me back every single time. And every time they have made things right and fixed stuff. ibfeel bad that they don’t write her back. It’s weird

(I am on IOS) So this morning, I went to gift my secret santa boxes and I got the message I needed to update to do this. So I did and i was able to visit at least 2 friends without issues. Then I bombed a few shoppers with no problems (previously I had no issues except occasionally after the bomb dropped the game would crash and I had to rebomb when i reopened the app).
First thing I did notice is now all my streets are all messed up. They are 3 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall right… Well the game is only displaying the graphics from the corners. And my beeches are checker boarded. every other square isnt showing. Also the border trees for the areas we cant do anything in are also glitched as well now.
But a few hours after I updated Dropping bombs on shoppers started crashing as usual after the bomb dropped but every time now. About 3 tries later I noticed when i hit the bomb button to bring up quagmires airplane graphic the town was really really far zoomed out. way farther than is normally possible So I think this might be most of the problem. Then it started crashing the second I hit the bomb button (to bring up quagmire’s plane interface) And now I can always zoom really far out even without being in the bombin interface. This sucks cause I was on a roll to get puppy brian unlocked and this will prevent me from gettin the wrapping papers I need.
NOTE: As I was writing this I finally managed to get a bomb off. I just zoomed it out all the way hoping all the town graphics got loaded for a few mins before I hit the bomb button. But then it crashed when i hit the workshop to see what my wrapping paper total was up to. luckily I kept the 3 wrapping papers I got (most papers I ever got so far). I never seem to get more than one wrapping paper except a few times I got 2, despite bombing like 15 shoppers at one time in my fence maze. Just now bomb attempt number two seemed to open the bombin interface and there was the graphics of 2 quagmires planes over one another and it crashed. I may have hit the button twice, so weird!
Just wanted to point out some issues to those who may have not updated yet/check if anyone else had the road/beach graphic glitches like I do. I will see bout gettin a screen shot but my home buttons doesnt work worth a crap and makes it hard to screen shot things without exiting the app. and post it in a reply here.

I just updated and have the same issues. The roads look like a chess board, the boarder trees are diferent and i can zoom in really close but crashes all the time. Im sure the are working on it tho

I noticed after the update on iOS that you now can finally tap on the shoppers to temporarily stop them. 🙂 Makes it much easier to collect clams and/or wrapping paper.

The mall is not dropping anything anymore. Instead of a gingerbread on top of it, a coin appears as if it was a regular building. When I click on it, nothing drops. No gingerbread, hc, or the red shovel for Joe’s costume. Is anyone else experiencing this glitch?

I play mostly on my iPad, but also on my android phone when I’m mobile. I’m hosed on both 😦 my phone keeps telling me to upgrade, but there is no upgrade in Google play (as others have mentioned). Meanwhile, after I upgraded on the iPad, it keeps crashing, can’t even get to the main screen:( I uninstalled and reinstalled as the Tiny crash urs tells you, but no help. This is upsetting and painful, I put in a lot of clams and hours into this:(

I unlocked the weekly challenge for the elfo and when I was about to place it in my twon from my inventory it dissapeared 😦 plus the gift boxes are locked too, is it the glitch too, or is this a different thing?

There is info on the Elf in the main post for Phase 3. It is like a lil character. It runs around the streets. So you just have to watch for it.
As for the boxes, locked as in you did not get all the items inside? Locked as in you did get it all and so it shut you out?

I had to uninstall the game and install it again, it gave me again the option to get the elf and it’s now running in my town :D, as for the gift boxes, I still have Jesus and Santa from the santa list pending and when I try to get them it takes me to the santa’s workshop window and tells me I already got it all, but I still have them as pending so I don’t know

I have this too, I can play in my own town, I just can’t visit *any* friends, this was after adding some friends from the post elsewhere on the site… I got the message when I first tried to visit one of them, and now it shows it as soon as I tap the icon to visit friends. Possibly it’s trying to visit that person first as previously it was going to a different friend first rather than Ollieland

I’m on an android. I tried to send my boyfriend a gift this morning around 7am and it said I had to wait another hour before I could send another. Went back an hour later and got the update game warning. Its been like that ever since. I only have the one device that I’m playing on so I’m going to give tiny a heads up. Thanks for the info. ❤

I have Android and don’t use Facebook so I don’t have the glitch you are talking about, but I have pictures of items and buildings in the wrong place in the menus, in town, and the worst is the royal tea set (reversed) as the bombing cross hair sights. Tried to in-game message TinyCo but my game keeps crashing, will be sending them an email soon. I usually read here for help and I wait for the fix quietly, but this is the most I’ve have go wrong all at once, and right after the update. Was funny at first, but I’m done laughing. Is anyone else having the same things. The tea set thing is across the middle of the screen, and you can see a very little windscreen and shoppers with the number of bombs by the bomb button. I all ready sent a picture of the bombing glitch to you lady’s yesterday, but if you didn’t get it or you want to see the other screen shots I have just let me know. Is the a patch going to help with the things I have going on? Thanks for all your work with this site, love it. Merry Christmas.

Passed on the info. Please send them an email to help@tinyco.com as it helps when they can see into a game actually having the issue at hand. As for the wording glitches. They have been ongoing since launch.
Just keep sending them reports as you see them pop up. They are trying to nail them all down and fix them. It happens in other games we write about when there is a LOT going on at once in the game. The coding seems to cross paths in odd ways and cause strange and silly glitches.

Apparently the first “real” neighbor on my list has iOs. This is why it would be helpful to first take us to Ollie, rather than the first “gifting candidate” available. I am unable to visit ANY friends bc of the platform the first friend uses. I cannot access the multiverse at all. This is really hindering gameplay.

Did you clear out the task in your questline that is to clear on of them? If not, it will return so you can.

There is a task each phase built into the main questline to clear (wrap) one of the gift boxes. In order to clear that task you have to wrap a box. In this phase it is the Fancy. Players are clearing ALL the boxes and prizes before getting that task popped up. So to prevent you from being stuck on the questline, they made it so when that task appears, one extra Gift Box shows up in your Santa’s Village to wrap so you can clear the task.
