Stewie and District 8 Have Arrived! (Updated and Complete)

Update: Amended to the land section.  Originally showed as 1 land section (After Funland area), it’s been updated to reflect 2 sections of land.

Hello There Clammers!

After a VERY long wait….Stewie (and District 8) have arrived!

2014-07-12 04.03.45

District 8 should unlock for you with out a character prompt (just tap on the area) as long as you’ve completed District 7.

Midlife Crisis Lois kicks things off….you’ll be required to Clear the Amusement Park Block which will cost you $12,000 and take 18hrs…

Looks like TinyCo has also provided us with MORE of a preview of whats to come…at least character wise…as well.  In future districts (they ARE NOT in the game right now, so don’t worry you can’t currently unlock them…it’s just a preview of what’s to come) the following characters will be unlocked: Mayor West and Tom (District 9…not in the game yet, but this will be next.  We already know it & land for district 9 is in the game), Barbara Pewterschmidt and Jillian (District 10?), Neil Goldman and Death (District 11?) & Evil Monkey (One of the other districts?  New area???)

That’s everything is District 8 (for now).  Busy busy district.  It’s going to take a bit to unlock Stewie, so ENJOY the game.  Don’t try to rush it.  Go into the District knowing it’ll take a little while to clear it…but right now there’s nothing after District 8 so there’s no need to rush.  Take your time & try not to get too frustrated when items don’t drop (easier said than done..I know).

What do YOU think of District 8?  You excited for the new buildings and costumes?  Are you surprised by any of the content?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. 30 blueprints (20 hours each) and 30 jewels and not a guaranteed drop each time? that’s insane and really turns off a lot of people. Moving forward they should make all items guaranteed to drop so if it takes a day to get something you know you will at least receive it. Then you can feel you are actually working towards a goal vs sending people on tasks over and over and over and getting nothing for it. My suggestion to TinyCo if they are reading this

    • I think TinyCo is really looking at this in a way the older games (and newer) played out. Being a geek girl, I played many RPG type games in my life like Zelda, Lunar, and Vay. In those games there was never any guarantee you would get the tools you needed right away. Many times you needed to redo a task or try again to defeat characters, earn points, earn money, etc. Also as you got further along or leveled up, things became more difficult.

In my mind they really want people to take their time and enjoy the game and just play it. Not just rush rush rush to the next thing. 😉

  2. Should l buy Family jewels for 50 clams? Does it drop jewels? Always? Please give me your advise.
    Thanks.

    • It has a “chance” of dropping jewels (I have gotten several). I bought it for this reason, plus I liked it’s looks.

    • Family Jewels is a very very wise way to spend your clams. Whether you just started, or you are working on district 8. It theoretically pays for itself on both ends of the ‘individual and personal clam value’ spectrum. 🙂

      • Just an opinion but every time people spend money (real $) to purchase a building or unlock a skin or buy a decoration or……, it’s collected as data by tiny co. If you think the sarcophagus was overpriced wait till you see what the future holds lol. Speeding up or outright unlocking characters defeats the whole purpose of this game lol. Clearly we are in a new realm of gaming, and by new I mean the last 5 years, and companies are very eager to cash in. In my opinion mobile games with IAP are no different than tobacco companies in many ways. Obviously they are hoping you feel the need to collect digital goods, which if you look up the contract you agreed to with tiny co you have absolutely zero rights to, and hope your compulsion lasts long enough to profit off of. Just some good for thought 😉

        Like

        • I see your point, but would only point out that the only accurate data they can collect concerning actual dollars spent is on clam purchases themselves. Once a clam is purchased, it looks exactly like any free clam earned. The data of items bought with clams would be incomplete because some players use earned clams only or a combination of both. In the end it comes down to one simple thing that each player must ask themselves. “Does the game give them pleasure”? I know many players that don’t spend a dime and love the game. And I also know many players that buy clams and love the game. It’s all about the freedom for each of us to define our own paths to enjoyment, contract or no contract. 😉

No, it doesn’t ALWAYS drop jewels. But for 50 clams, it’s a better buy than the other two new premium buildings in this update.

I would and did. So far it’s dropping about 75% for me which is pretty good. For the price it has a good payout too.

  3. I’ve realized I have a bone to pick with these premium characters. Beyond the 30 seconds of fresh quotes (except the Horse) they are kinda useless. I don’t know if they make more exp/coins per hour, but they need to be added on the list of items.

Now, I bought Jake and the Horse with free clams, and the sarcos were REALLY good to me, allowing me to purchase Consuela. That being said, the lighthouse earned 4 seashells before I even had Consuela! Now my 3/4 ‘premium’ characters are chaining 1 day tasks just so I don’t have to deal with them while I orchestrate District 8’s completion.

As a completionist, I would outright buy Buzz if he had a time limit, and I WOULD have payed whatever I had to. to unlock King Butt.

That being said, unless you share my OCD, you currently don’t have many GOOD reasons to buy premium characters.

Nobody likes games where paying money gives you a huge advantage (mostly referring to PvP games where you can buy unique non-freemium items with ridiculous stats). Nobody except people with mommy and daddy’s card. My suggestion for Tinyco is this:

Add premium characters to the common/uncommon item drop lists. That would give them some use, AND it would NOT cripple the freemium characters.

Other option would be to double/triple/quad their experience/coins output. Why not?

I completely agree about premium characters. I’ve spent 15 bucks total since the game came out and got lucky enough to get King Butt and some clams out if sarcophagus to buy Buzz and Consuela completing current purchasable characters. They end up doing nothing and should have some sort of drops to make them more worth the price. Just my opinion. 🙂

I have about 15 red office buildings and about the same common office buildings and I am very concerned about the look of my town (in the middle of a major reconstruction I started during the 4th event) I placed the red offices 2 deep in an upsidedown letter U shaped to make them look like lower income housing projects and the common offices iI had previously had as a wall separating asiantown from the rest of the town with the Asian style gates as the only entrance but now I have them off to the far right of the district 7 land 2 deep ….. imI’m glad we have somemore buildings that will make the arcade and ffurniture store not look so out of place (bigger than all the rest with those bright colors really ddidn’t go good with anything b4)

  6. I feel a slight letdown by the fact that the premium characters (horse, Consuela, Jake…) aren’t able to drop items now that we need to collect so much stuff at once. Apart from having them in my game with mostly painfully limited timed tasks I don’t feel I’m getting much benefit from them. Doesn’t really lure me into spending money…

    • I agree. I bought them with saved up clams cause till now they always dropped items. But now that i have them they don’t anymore :(. Gotta remember this for this week WTH 😉

  7. I’m just glad they are using longer tasks to earn most items rather than 1hr tasks where you can feel the need to play constantly all day to earn things.

    • I disagree I mean yea I do like that I don’t have to play all day but I just started a major reconstruction of my town during the fourth of July event and now I’m all tapped out of coins (over 75,000 spent in 4 days on decorations, land, and the new district). Because theres so many items required with long task times all my characters are not earning as many coins as I need them to right now , but then again I am trying to unlock pbnj Brian, falcon peter, carter and stewie at the same time

      • I spent $100k plus on the Rupert box for no clams so I’m down to less than 20k now after repairing funpark. Steadily increasing my number of office blocks which is building back the cash at the expense of the look of my town 🙂

  8. I don’t have either outfit unlocked, I’m soooo far from Stewie and carter that right now it seems unimaginable, but I couldn’t be happier! I’m just so glad to have stuff to do and to know it’ll take a while to get it even if it seems I never will! All my land is clear and buildings are up but I’m takin it easy on the rest.
I’d kill a lawn tiger to have more districts ASAP but I don’t see it happening for a bit so easy does it. I totally fretted CONSTANTLY when the full moon event ended so I’m happy it’s difficult.
Question of the day… does any one else think one of the new tease characters will be a premium concidering there’s an odd number? I was actually surprised we didn’t get a premium charactor with this event, but I’m thinkin one of the new 5 will be eventually? Thoughts?(speculate with me silly)

    • My speculation is an awesome Halloween event that features Death (who already has a placeholder in the ??? Section of FaceSpace) as an unlockable “regular” character and “Greased Up Deaf Guy” as our 5th “Premium” character since he appears in the “old” FaceSpace cover photo and there is already high demand for him. You’ll get it all and then boom you’ll be bored… Again though if you plan on throwing anything, you can mail it to me for proper destruction haha..

  9. Also you guys should really make the item drops more consistent. I understand that some items are “rare” and take longer then “uncommon” or “common” but when I’m getting “rare” ones consistently every 4 times I collect and then don’t get the last one til I collect like 20 times, that’s when it gets frustrating. The drop consistently shouldn’t change just because it’s the last one needed

It keeps closing itself and I find that I have to open the app three times in a row to actually collect stuff etc..for a few brief seconds. It really grinds my gears and ruins an otherwise enjoyable game.

However, I hope that once Stewie is unlocked it will return to normal service.

E.g. when I sleep an Average Office will earn 40 coins with the same amount of space as a Common Office would take and earn only 10. Spend yourself broke on reinvesting this way and in a few months you won’t know what to do with all your coins.

I caved and bought Family Jewels for 50 clams. I had 220 clams saved up and with Carter and Stewie needing them it seems like a good buy. I only plan on buying one but it’s nice you have the option to buy more. Also glad I saved about 125k before this district opened. I blew about 150k on the Rupert box and Stewie statue before the event and opened up some land. So far liking that district 8 will consume some time and last a bit. Keep up the good work guys!

    • I also blew my free clam stash on a family jewels. Ive been able to finally justify it internally so I could push forward with the stats:

50 clams, 4 hour (chance for 6 per day). District 8 alone requires 45 jewels. Current jewel tasks interfere with D8 costume tasks. I can think of 25+ MORE jewels in previous districts required.

Family Jewels is on my top 3 (unproven math) items WORTH clams. Plus you can still be freemium with its LOW cost.

Buzz Killington can wait. It’s not like premium characters have any purpose in the game beyond the 30 seconds you spend listening to their quotes.

Stuff that people have paid for/worked hard for (King B) should be added to these lists. Let Jake earn something for once. Everyone has the same free characters, give more options for costumed tasks and premiums.

      • I finally broke down and bought family jewels as well. I had worked up to 211 so I still have 161. I got a gift card for Father’s Day and still had a bunch of clams left over plus what I’ve earned from visiting and the 20 from funland. I don’t tend to spend real money on these games.

Not quite sure how “not a cent” was spent when it cost me $100 to clear District 8 in a day for the walkthrough. All I was say is be VERY careful if you’re using “alternate” means to “not spend a cent” in the game. As those “alternate” methods are against TinyCo’s policy. TinyCo watches this blog & has made it clear that they will shut down games if these “alternate” means are found.

Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents worth on “farming”. Everyone should be doing it. I have 100 common offices = $1000 coins an hr. I built these during the last week of Butts. You have to spend $ to make $. Once my 2 workers are done funland & the cinema it will be back to building offices. This way $50-$60 thousand coins can be earned easily. The long term pay off is well worth it!

    • Whatever floats your boat 🙂 a lot of people would agree with you but I feel a little differently about farms. having all those buildings doesnt seem like It would leave room for anything else. Id rather have my town look pretty. My ocd wont allow me to have any more than one kind of the same building in my town and they all have to be on streets so farming is out of the question for me. I may not have a surplus of coins but whats the hurry? If I unlocked and bought everything right away then id be out of stuff to do. Now if you have a way to easily earn 50-60 thousand clams then I would be in! 😉

I found a mental loophole if you are interested.

I only have a couple offices (one of each, and a few duplicates)

I was able to place my duplicates on the other side of my town as ‘decorations’ so to speak. In between other non-offices etc.

The loophole may work for you, but in the end you only have 4-5 extra offices of varying adjectives.

        • I agree with you Omg. If TinyCo really and truly frowned upon office farming, they wouldn’t make it possible to build more than one of each office (or any other non-unique building). I’d bet that as far as most people here are concerned, the only way you’d be “playing the game in a way that wasn’t intended” is if you hacked or cheated. Office farming is simply a strategy, and just because you can’t/won’t do it doesn’t mean its wrong for others to do so.

Do you end up with PB and J Brian and save yourself 500 clams by doing the skip Stewie step?

Would have to get myself another 300 clams as only got 75 at moment, to see if this works myself. But just thought I’d ask to see if anybody else has tried it already and got a new costume on the cheap.

    • Yeah, I think that all of the actions that were introduced during the 4th of July event have disappeared. It doesn’t really make sense to me though, because we still have the roller rink and Deep Fried Everything buildings necessary for the actions. I liked those new actions, especially for characters who again do not have tasks of a certain length. For example, Bruce lost his 1 hour roller rink action and is back to 1m, 2h and 4h long actions. And Brian and Dr. Hartman are back to having 8 and 12 hour tasks but no 10h ones. Its annoying to me because 10 hours is my preferred overnight task length – 8 is too short and 12 is too long.

Just because its not the 4th anymore, Brian can’t gorge on deep fried pb&j? No fair!

But really, I hope those actions get added back into the game at some point.

  25. I would not be able to enjoy the game if I had 1000000 clams it would make it pointless , however I have spent 20 dollars and bought some characters and buildings . I’m very happy with how tinyco has run the game and release dates of districts I think il be finshing district 8 just as 9 is coming out. I just wish we had more decor , like paths and fences parking lots etc.. Sorry for a ramble lol

  26. Great, got 20 clams. Now I have a total of 50 clams. Just what I needed to help unlock Stewie.

    Like

    • I’m thinking that this means youve already outright payed for both costumes (assuming 18 hours of good luck) for a minimum of 1500 clams. Additional clams for rushing funlands repair and even more clams rushing tasks (multiple 12 hour tasks, at that) to get you to a point where Stewie was only 50 more clams.

Either you’ve combined 150 dollars with weird patience patterns…or you have been busted!!!

  28. Here’s a fun idea!

Since item requirement AMOUNTS are increasing, eventually we are looking at 10 X’s 60 Y’s and 190 Z’s to unlock (I…..exaggerate).

What about, and listen up Tinyco (hehe), STUFF inventory!
    Example:
Peter does Task A and has a chance for item Z. Item Z stacks up to 3x in a ‘STUFF inventory’. Meg needs one Item Z to perform Task B. Task B drops Item X. Item X goes towards your costume/character unlock.

This can be exponential in growth and combinations. Also an opportunity to get creative on tasks, task animations etc. Mort is sick of swallowing jewels, is all I’m saying 🙂

    Confused? Heh, me too.

  32. If you want mass amounts of cash then take Pete’s suggestion! Buy as many common offices as you can fit and use them to amass your bank account! Common Office cost is $150 with a $10 payout every hour and 30 minute build time! Once you have say ten built then every hour is $100 to your bank! It is the best and cheapest way to get that cash cow! I know alot of ppl do not like farming but if your low on money as i am then this what i am doing! After it is all said and done, store them until TinyCo lets us sell them! From one Clammer to another, just my opinion!

    • I had 300,000 coins near the end of king butt. I used some on the Stewie Dictator statue anda few others so now I am down to 100,000. Build a lot of biuldings and let them build your coins. I use Common Office which is only 150 but give 10 every hour. Best price/drop ratio…

    • I built 14 standard offices during the Full Moon Event, and added 6 or 8 more in the past week. My max coins was approx 175,000 during the event, even after buying many different decos like trees and street lights. I purchased the Lincoln memorial, event items, new land and two District 8 buildings and have since been hovering between 120,000 and 145,000 coins.

After unlocking roller skating Peter last week I sent every character on one or two hour tasks and would check the game very frequently. I find that many hour long tasks produce more coins than infrequent longer tasks, especially Chris walking Brian and Peter and Jerome doing an ethnic handshake. If you’re looking for longer tasks with high payout, try paired tasks such as fishing with Seamus and Peter, lap dancing with Bonnie and Joe, raging against authority with Chris and Quagmire, etc.

      • I’m happy some of our friends here have allowed me to “like” them and vice versa – not just because it gives me an extra $30 in coins per person every 20 hours, but because it helps me see/confirm other people’s Quahogs… I, like many people here, have a very large bank of Standard Offices that I farm every two hours and now I have $1.2M in coins, even after spending a $100k or so on fireworks without a clam reward. The farm has been in business since my first week playing the game. I don’t use real money to buy clams.

But the flip side is that many of us who farm do so at the expense of beautifying our towns and getting involved in the happy minutiae of the game. People who farm often have ONLY a small 2×6 area of road to keep our characters easily accessible while we literally cram our houses, libraries, hospitals, etc, up against each other to save room and make it more convenient to ‘tap’ characters for jobs. It also makes it faster to tap-collect all of the coins from a very large bank of offices.

It looks silly to me even to write it! However, that’s what we do despite making the game less, shall we write, “artful”. To us, part of the enjoyment is guaranteeing that we don’t miss time limited parts of the game due to not having enough cash, not having an organized way of keeping characters together, etc. Farming is just one way of Quahog life – but some players are hybrid players and put smaller banks in caches around their artful Quahogs.

Other than the latest series of squares and squares and squares of fireworks, I don’t keep anything in storage. I like looking at the things I’ve earned or that I was required to buy with coins in order to get my Quahog to where it now stands – it’s just that all of those items are a bit crammed together without roads.

Perhaps a little unrealistic. Perhaps not as artful. But enjoyable to me an others, nonetheless.

        • I have to politely disagree…I think it’s entirely possible to dedicate a segment of your town to being a “farm” while leaving the rest of it ‘artfully designed’. Sure, you can’t have as much dead space…but up until the King Butt event I think my town looked great…until you got to the bottom right hand corner with my sea of offices.

At the moment, squeezing in the Egyptian content, with all the new D8 buildings, without having all the new land, things are losing that balance…but, I have the money to fix it, I just need the free worker time (I have 2 going 24/7) in order to get all the new land expansions.

All I’m saying is I don’t think it’s an either or situation — it’s a tight rope balancing act. With care, and precision, you can have both at the loss of a ‘corner’ of your own Q-Paradise.

One other alternative, which I haven’t seen done yet, is to create an external ‘wall’ of offices that you build your town within. I’m not such a big fan of the way the green ‘can’t build here’ forest looks butted up against my town anyway….

But hey, that’s just my opinion!

    • Matthew, as others have stated, when you build over 100 Standard Offices, and log in every 2 hours, you’ll be shocked how fast money happens. I supplement that with 4 hour character tasks, so every second office farm collection results in increased cash flow without having to break my 2 hour cycles.

Character cycles of course change when I’m doing an event or unlocking new characters/outfits. With an income not dependent on character tasks, I always have characters that can collect items doing so, even if it’s a shorter task overnight. What’s 50 gold vs. a quicker outfit when I’ll collect 2k upon waking?

  34. I don’t mind earning the things, hate that everything cost so much money and it is so hard to earn. The new buildings cost a small fortune and drop less money than the common office. I will clear what I have to clear to open Stewie then do it when I find the money. Won’t build the new things until there is nothing to do. I just may build places that give good payouts instead.

  37. It looks like the mechanics of the drops were changed. I have tried it more than a dozen times, and I have gotten the same result every single time. The way I figure it, the probability of you getting a drop from tasks, has already been “decided” from the time the task was started. Am not sure if this was their “solution” to people having difficulty getting items, but if this is the case, sure made the game harder for some. For those of you who know the method of checking this, would you please be able to confirm it. Like I said, I did it more than a dozen times, and the exact same result everytime. (And it involves multiple tasks from multiple characters.)

    • The random drop generator is still being used at this time to our knowledge….sometimes stuff drops quickly…sometimes you throw your device at the cat (just kidding all our cat lovers.. 😉 )

    • I recommended on a couple posts here that they make that change. Not so much to prevent the hack, but because people would get a rare item, the game would crash, and then the item would not appear again on restart.

So… if they took my advice, sorry about that 🙂

      Like

    • I have been doing it numerous times for hours and tried it at various times. And I have been constantly getting the same results. True that drops are still random. You won’t get it everytime you do a task. But apparently that randomness is decided when you start/initiate the task. You can now tell if your task is going to generate the drop or not. You do this by turning off your wi-fi connection after starting the task. You then speed up the task and see if something would drop. Make sure you force close the app before reconnecting to the net. You now know the result, but would still have your clams when you reload the game. I repeat, FORCE CLOSE THE APP BEFORE RECONNECTING TO THE NET. Or the data of you spending the clams would be sent to TC Servers.

      • Oh….now I see what you were getting at….I agree with conan776, I think the code was re-written to help items from vanishing should a crash ensue before the player collected the item and the auto-save could lock it into memory. Thanks for your due diligence in researching this game play change. 🙂

        • I wouldn’t consider it a hack as it doesn’t involve a person messing with the code. Lol. It was done to prevent people from cheating. Now players can’t force close the game and reload if nothing drops. (As was the possible case before.) TC just did it the way they do their breeding games. The resulting monster is already known the moment you breed/tuck the monster in Tiny Monsters.

    • One way to tell : If you get an item and your game crashes, when you reload and hit the yellow check mark again, the item should drop again. Or vice versa. Instant proof of your theory.
You may be the only one TRYING to get their game to crash though 🙂

Love: Multiple buildings, suits to work on
Productive tasks for more characters than usual
A good use for coins after more than a month of saving up on pyramid event

Hate: Number of items required to make any progress. I may wind up losing patience with the game.
Clam increases: $50 in clams just to speed unlock Falconer and PBJ costumes???!?! People could easily wind up spending $100s of real dollars on this game. I have a tough time justifying $60 on a new console game with an actual story, more active things to do, and amazing graphics. I get this is a different type of game, but really?

  46. Thank The Lord! No, thank the game designers for this new open district! I have been playing almost since the release of the game. I was a tapped out (TSTO) player for a very long time before that. With TSTO I vaguely remembered most of the buildings, the story arks were impossible to follow because the writers wanted to show off so much they had to make the font so small you can’t read them anyways. After “tapping” through about 4 pages of dialogue who cares any more right?

TQFS has that Seth MacFarlane wit and charm that just makes the game worth while! I have played the game mostly freemium, on occasion I’ve paid for golden clams. (When I was really impatient) But I love that I can check in with my town and decide to send my characters on quest based on when I feel I can check in again. TinyCo has done an amazing job of releasing things as the right time and making them thins that you feel you’ve earned. Yes I have gone through the Eyeball struggle, the roller skating pony wait, King butt Jell-O shot fiasco! And I just stayed on my missions and kept the characters at work and I have most everything that isn’t a clam base character( except jake, I bought him hahah) I am so glad to finally see stewie!! I have been talking to all my friends who don’t even play the game about how much I wanted him. I like the modest price increase for buildings, it will keep you working but not making it months between buying property( like someone else I know *cough tapped *cough out) Also amazing preview for what’s to come! Love all of the incoming characters! One thing I would like to throw out to TinyCo, some of your premium items should slowly make there way to the freemium side. Make them cost a lot of coins after so long ya know? Cause I want the hindinPeter! But I don’t have the funds for those things 🙂

okay sorry for the rant I just haven’t posted until now, I had a lot to get out 🙂

Stupid boasting could get his so called friend out of a job, what a good friend to have!

  49. I don’t know about all of you, but my favorite part of the game is when I click on a yellow check mark and STUFF pops out!! The character unlock is secondary!! The more ridiculous the requirement, the happier I am.
Plus, who’s to say after all the complaints, Tinyco didn’t change drop rates?

A potential tip for those overwhelmed. Don’t build the malt shoppe early, wait a day or two. Pick a costume and start all the possible actions for that costume. I’m focusing on Peter first. Remaining characters get stuck of the longest/rarest for Bananadog.

I’m not sure if the new buildings like the mall will drop stuff for Carter or Stewie, but I’m doing those before Carter’s building.

WIth my trusty phone timer, I’m going to maximum efficiency for freemium unlocks (10 minutes of math goes a long way) and I’d be happy to share my patterns if anyones interested (unproven of course).

For the SUPER impatient, I’d recommend staggering your tasks. It feels better to check two characters every two hours, than to check 8 characters every 8-12.Plus your much needed coin treasury will start to refill!

    Last two things:
Lol @ that guy who claims to have a buddy feeding him all the content early, and effortlessly. That sounds like a REALLY awful version of TQFS, and I would rather play the game as it exists on the market, than be a really bad friend who publicly alleges his buddy is doing things against his employer’s policies. (Someone else who works at Tinyco reads this website, I can guarantee that!!!)

Does anyone want to be TQFS friends!!!?? I only have one friend and I’m pretty sure his pyramid and sand are all still in his game (not a hack, he just hasnt logged in post-pyramids).
