Update 3/13 9pm EDT: TinyCo has made a couple of adjustments in the game tonight. They’ve completely removed the clock feature from the stick…so now you must earn Blindfolds to make it work. However, they’ve added a task for Seamus (Sing Shanties) to also help earn Blindfolds (so now you have Peter, Bruce, Mort, Herbert AND Seamus that can help earn Blindfolds).
The timer is NOT coming back. The 4hr task replaces the timer (as they all take the same amount of time).
In addition they’ve added a task for Conseula to drop Cowboy Hats (6hrs, Clean the Town)
Also…as a side note for those struggling with Plutonium. They’ve added a task for Tricia and Connie to help earn more Plutonium
There currently is a known issue with the bat timer and it not counting down properly. So if you’re experiencing it, know that you’re not the only one. The best thing to do is to contact TinyCo via your game and let them know you’re impacted too. The more players that report it the quicker they’ll be able to determine what’s causing it.

Well the weekend looms large and you know what that means? No, not time to break out the Bunny Water (although it is almost St. Pats!). Nope it’s time for another TQFS Weekend Event!
What’s in store for us this time? Well in case you didn’t get it from the title of this post….it’s Telenovela Weekend in Quahog! So what does this mean for you??? Well….the long awaited arrival of Soap Opera Peter!
As always we’ll be back with more details as we go through them….for now know that the event ends on Wednesday March 18th (3pm PDT) so you have until then to unlock Soap Opera Peter or he’ll disappear from the game…oh and, as usual, you must be at least District 3 for the event to hit your game. (as if you newbies needed more motivation to find Lois in your new Quahog!)

For those curious, it’ll cost you over 400 Clams for instant create.
Remember you have until March 18th at 3pm PDT to unlock Soap Opera Peter, or he’ll disappear from the game! (no matter where you are in the unlock process) So get him before he disappears!
Piñatas
Who remembers Latcher Stewie? How about the poltergeist? Well….they’re baaaacccckkk! Sorta.
Latchers are back for this event….only this time they’re Piñatas! Yes, that’s right my friends…we once again get to clear things from buildings! (I can feel your excitement already)
Just like latchers of events past, Piñatas will block buildings and make them unusable. (so be careful who you send on what task) Smashing the Piñatas (clearing them from the buildings) will help you earn candy needed to unlock Soap Opera Peter. So pull out your sticks and whack it!! Giggity!
So how do you smash them? Well what’s a Piñata smashing without a blindfold and stick? Kinky…
You’ll pull out your stick and whack the Piñatas (what did you think we were just joking about that?).
So what’s the spawn rate for the Piñatas?
Well….at a normal rate Piñatas will spawn every 2hrs and you can have a max in your town of 5 Piñatas at a time.
How Long Will they Latch onto a building?
They’ll change buildings every 8hrs if you don’t clear them before then.
Note: you will not see Piñatas until AFTER you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2.
Also…if you purchase the Piñata decoration from the store it will spawn even more Piñatas in your town!
Blindfolds
So what does the blindfold do? Blindfolds aren’t just for fun…they have a practical use too. Blindfolds allow you to instantly get back to whacking those Piñatas. (think zapper Batteries for Latcher Stewie) Otherwise the normal cool down time between whacks is 4 hrs.
Blindfolds can be earned by doing tasks…or purchased from the shop….
Which characters can earn blindfolds from tasks?
Mort- Swallow Jewels
Peter- Cook Disgusting Vegetables
Bruce- Be a Good Listener
Herbert- Buy Candy for Kids
Currently there are 3 options to purchase Blindfolds.
1 Blindfold- 10 Clams
3 Blindfolds- 25 Clams
10 Blindfolds- 75 Clams.
So How Do I Smash Piñatas?
Once you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2, part of the quest will be to smash a Piñata. You’ll see them hanging out over buildings…they latch onto the coins, they’ll look like this:
When you tap on those Piñatas the bat screen will come up & it will tell you how much time you have left to recharge your bat:
As you can see this still needs a full 4hr charge before I can whack the Piñatas. If you don’t have any Blindfolds available it’ll say Buy…but if you have them available it’ll say Use:
Note…you’ll see your blindfold count in the bottom right corner of your screen:
Remember you can earn Blindfolds via Character tasks (Herbert, Peter, Bruce & Mort) or you can buy them in the store.
IF your blindfold count looks crazy high (at one point mine said 17,000 +) hard close and restart your game a few times. This should reset the counter. TinyCo IS looking into why it’s starting off crazy high as well…
Now once you have a whack available (or you decide to use a blindfold) you just tap Smash and the game will do the rest…
And it’s that simple to smash those Piñatas!
Note: After you’ve smashed the first Piñata for Part 2, DO NOT SMASH ANYMORE! You will need to smash 50 for part 4 and any you smash before getting there won’t count.

It must be Friday the 13th bad luck. Besides the timer issue, I have finished three of my tasks to earn blindfolds and got 0 for 3.
I think I will put this game aside and try again tomorrow. Oh wait, it is pi day tomorrow and St Pats Day Weekend. Between the pie, the parade, the music, the dancing, and the beer I may not get back to the game until Monday..

I’m trying not to judge this event already since it JUST came into our games, but me personally, idk if I’ll be successful in unlocking Spanish Soap Opera Peter…it’s the ONLY costume I need to complete the one set of his skins and I’m sure it’s the same for alot of players. But like I said it’s ALWAYS easy to say ohhhNooo(Bruce’s voice hehe) i’m not gonna be able to complete all this in time on the very 1st day of every event and as soon as you get farther and farther into events, you begin to start thinking oh maybe this all isn’t gonna be that bad lol 🙂

Sent tinyco in game msg about smash clock I also told them that I spent 10 clams trying to see if that would help reset clock (it didn’t) they said they knew of the problem and were on it ,they also refunded my 10 clams!!!!!

Wish my blindfold count would have started high. Much better than the broken timer that replaced it. I’ve forced the game closed about 10 times since getting piñatas 30 minutes ago, and still have a blindfold timer with 3 hours, 55 minutes remaining.

I’ve never played in an event with latchers before, so I have a question about them. It seems like they only went on to buildings that had people in them. Will the people inside continue working on their activities, or are they basically frozen in time until I remove the pinata from their building?

Their timers are supposed to continue, however you can’t clear them from them building until the latcher is gone

Hi thanks for that but still means Tiny are forcing you to play for 18 hours for 5 days if you want a chance of getting it, not that obsessed 😉 that is a bit much, should have been 4 hour tasks or at least one more caricture doing something, think this is to time frenzied. Think I will give it a miss, after all will end up not geing used again, especially as the Trek event is about to start in a few days. Now realy looking forward to that one, and sure you both will be there with the usual great help. 😊

That’s kinda how the game works…you don’t have to play constantly, just log on once every 6 hrs. And spend about 5 minutes in your game. Really, it’s not that much time.

Waited the 4hours to smash the piñata but when I went to smash the clock was on 3hr58mins!!!! .i forced close but still same time .what should I do?

Well this is going to be a failed weekend event. My piñata time has only gone down 8 minutes in the last 5 hours when it is suppose to reset every 4 hours. I have hard reset my game and phone endless times and it still hasn’t helped. Getting a bit fed up of these events. Why so short?? Makes it impossible to complete or enjoy unless you are loaded up with clams.

The countdown timer for the bat isn’t working right in my game, it isn’t counting down while Im not playing the game, only when I am playing, I’ve tryed force closing it over 10 times but it isn’t fixing it, I have sent them a message, but this is gonna make it a lot harder to unlock Peters outfit, not to mention smashing 50 for part 4!

Happy Friday! 2 questions. First the sending characters blindfold (peter, herbert, etc) is supposed to take 4 hours correct? I sent them on the task but the countdown timer started at 6 hours. Also when prompted to smash the 1st pinata as part of the quest line you still need wait 4 hours to do the first one? it doesn’t let you do the first one automatically as part of the quest? thanks!

Has anyone bought any of the Meriachi deco’s yet? Do they make a noise or play a song or something? I’m tempted to buy them as I have a small Mexican area from the previous Consuela Mexican event and these would top it off! I’m thinking they should play stuff like the UK Doritos advert – that would be amazing if so! Ha!

So my counter on the latcher is counting down from 4 hours, which is to be expected. My issue is it seems to be only counting down when the game is open and my screen on. I start part 2 about 30 minutes ago and all I have on my time is 3:53:38. Am I the only one experiencing this?

hard close and restart your game. See if that corrects it…try it a couple of times if it doesn’t at first. I had to do it about 5 times to get it to clear out and work properly

I’ve tried the hard close over 10 times and it still won’t count down when game is closed. After about 2 hours I am still at 3:45 so I have notified them from within the game. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon.

Also, is anyone else having Pinata timer issues. I went in, started everything, went back out to wait the 40min until my building was finished. Now it says I still have 3:51min left before I can smash one.

Contacted TC & they got back to me: They said it is a known issue and they’re looking into. Said they forwarded message to engineering team. So, if this also happening to you, shoot them an ingame message. It may help them determine the cause quicker. 🙂

To me, this is the most exciting event we’ve had since Valentine’s Day, and I’m really happy it’s here. I would it could have been about St. Patrick’s day, but it’ll be nice to get that final Peter costume needed for the collection. They must have known for a long time that they’d be doing this event.

Sorry mental block, need to learn to count, 2 getting stuff every 6 hours so that is playing and using both for 12 hours for 5 days if they drop every time, 4 a day. Looks like will be missing this costume.

lol ok, let’s take a deep breath….
Remember it’s a common item. Assume you have 5 days left, since it ends the 18th at 3pm PDT and it’s already 12pm PDT on Friday. So you have half a day Friday, All Saturday, All Sunday, All Monday, All Tuesday & half a day Wednesday. So 5 days. Even if you only send them 3 times a day…3×6 is 18 hrs. So let’s assume you send them at 8am, 2pm & 8pm…that’s 6 chances per day (3 each for 3 characters). 6 chances x 5 days is 30 chances. You only need 20. It’s a common item so it will drop frequently…maybe not every time but frequently. So playing conservatively with the 3 chances per day you’ve still got 10 chances over what you need.
Just relax and have fun with it….

I’m actually more worried about the candy. If you still want to sleep and have a life you will only have 16 chances a day which is 80 in five days IF they drop EVERY time to get blindfolds. And then you have to get 55 candy from that. So it’s going to be close if you get unlucky to often. I seem to get about a 75% drop rate with common items which means 80 times you will only get 60 and then out of 60 blindfolds you only get 45 candy.

Seriously? I have stupid Pinatas on one of the 3 buildings I need for Plutonium. Are there only certain buildings they will latch onto? Maybe if I build a crapton of buildings, I’ll have better odds of them NOT being on the ONLY THREE I NEED.

Hello I have a question maybe someone can help me with. I noticed the new novela event kicking off, and as usual I came to family guy addicts for insight and guidance. However, I noticed that one of the decos listed here as freemium, which is the Taqueria la Almeja for $7,000.00 was and is still not available to me. I just finished the first piñata smashing quest but still no Taqueria. Is this deco going to be available further down the event progress?

However, it was pulled from the post over an hr ago. TinyCo has it listed on the FAQ, however I haven’t been able to verify it in the store. It could be because it was initially released back in Oct/Nov and it’s in my inventory somewhere. Double checking with TC to see what the case is.

It just showed up in my store and I snagged it. My problem is that what with the roads, I’ve almost run completely out of land, even with the Fine Arts District. And these Telenovela Weekend Buildings are going to be murder to place, not to mention what coming next week with Star Trek. I guess loads of buildings are going to be headed to inventory for me.

Not sure if I have this right, states 6 hour tasks for the hats and 20 needed, and only Lois and Bonnie to collect them is not good, that makes 4 a day as long you log on exactly every 4 hours, they need to drop every time and need to play for 16 hours for 5 days or go without sleep, this cannot be right. Please correct me if I am wrong.

As a general rule of thumb…if there’s no other major event going on (like Christmas, Halloween etc) anticipate a weekend event every weekend.

Pinatas are stationary and attached to buildings. No need to clear roads for this.

That building/deco was also available durring halloween i believe with that muertos Consuela outfit and what not. I already have it so i dont see it for purchase either. Maybe the same goes for you??? Its a small building that looks kinda like a taco food truck/stand. Hope this helps 🙂
