Update 3/13 9pm EDT: TinyCo has made a couple of adjustments in the game tonight. They’ve completely removed the clock feature from the stick…so now you must earn Blindfolds to make it work. However, they’ve added a task for Seamus (Sing Shanties) to also help earn Blindfolds (so now you have Peter, Bruce, Mort, Herbert AND Seamus that can help earn Blindfolds).
The timer is NOT coming back. The 4hr task replaces the timer (as they all take the same amount of time).
In addition they’ve added a task for Conseula to drop Cowboy Hats (6hrs, Clean the Town)
Also…as a side note for those struggling with Plutonium. They’ve added a task for Tricia and Connie to help earn more Plutonium
There currently is a known issue with the bat timer and it not counting down properly. So if you’re experiencing it, know that you’re not the only one. The best thing to do is to contact TinyCo via your game and let them know you’re impacted too. The more players that report it the quicker they’ll be able to determine what’s causing it.

Well the weekend looms large and you know what that means? No, not time to break out the Bunny Water (although it is almost St. Pats!). Nope it’s time for another TQFS Weekend Event!
What’s in store for us this time? Well in case you didn’t get it from the title of this post….it’s Telenovela Weekend in Quahog! So what does this mean for you??? Well….the long awaited arrival of Soap Opera Peter!
As always we’ll be back with more details as we go through them….for now know that the event ends on Wednesday March 18th (3pm PDT) so you have until then to unlock Soap Opera Peter or he’ll disappear from the game…oh and, as usual, you must be at least District 3 for the event to hit your game. (as if you newbies needed more motivation to find Lois in your new Quahog!)

Soap Opera Peter has finally arrived! As usual to unlock him you’ll have to collect STUFF. Just what do you need? Here’s the breakdown…

16 Mustaches (Rare)- Earned By: Make Chris Eat a Large Ham OR Make Joe Visit the Gun Range OR Make Jerome Be a Superior Athlete OR Make Quagmire Enjoy Carrots OR Get from Luchador General Store
For those curious, it’ll cost you over 400 Clams for instant create.
Remember you have until March 18th at 3pm PDT to unlock Soap Opera Peter, or he’ll disappear from the game! (no matter where you are in the unlock process) So get him before he disappears!
Piñatas
Who remembers Latcher Stewie? How about the poltergeist? Well….they’re baaaacccckkk! Sorta.
Latchers are back for this event….only this time they’re Piñatas! Yes, that’s right my friends…we once again get to clear things from buildings! (I can feel your excitement already)
Just like latchers of events past, Piñatas will block buildings and make them unusable. (so be careful who you send on what task) Smashing the Piñatas (clearing them from the buildings) will help you earn candy needed to unlock Soap Opera Peter. So pull out your sticks and whack it!! Giggity!
So how do you smash them? Well what’s a Piñata smashing without a blindfold and stick? Kinky…
You’ll pull out your stick and whack the Piñatas (what did you think we were just joking about that?).
So what’s the spawn rate for the Piñatas?
Well….at a normal rate Piñatas will spawn every 2hrs and you can have a max in your town of 5 Piñatas at a time.
How Long Will they Latch onto a building?
They’ll change buildings every 8hrs if you don’t clear them before then.
Note: you will not see Piñatas until AFTER you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2.
Also…if you purchase the Piñata decoration from the store it will spawn even more Piñatas in your town!
Blindfolds
So what does the blindfold do? Blindfolds aren’t just for fun…they have a practical use too. Blindfolds allow you to instantly get back to whacking those Piñatas. (think zapper Batteries for Latcher Stewie) Otherwise the normal cool down time between whacks is 4 hrs.
Blindfolds can be earned by doing tasks…or purchased from the shop….
Which characters can earn blindfolds from tasks?
Mort- Swallow Jewels
Peter- Cook Disgusting Vegetables
Bruce- Be a Good Listener
Herbert- Buy Candy for Kids
Currently there are 3 options to purchase Blindfolds.
1 Blindfold- 10 Clams
3 Blindfolds- 25 Clams
10 Blindfolds- 75 Clams.
So How Do I Smash Piñatas?
Once you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2, part of the quest will be to smash a Piñata. You’ll see them hanging out over buildings…they latch onto the coins, they’ll look like this:
When you tap on those Piñatas the bat screen will come up & it will tell you how much time you have left to recharge your bat:
As you can see this still needs a full 4hr charge before I can whack the Piñatas. If you don’t have any Blindfolds available it’ll say Buy…but if you have them available it’ll say Use:
Note…you’ll see your blindfold count in the bottom right corner of your screen:
Remember you can earn Blindfolds via Character tasks (Herbert, Peter, Bruce & Mort) or you can buy them in the store.
IF your blindfold count looks crazy high (at one point mine said 17,000 +) hard close and restart your game a few times. This should reset the counter. TinyCo IS looking into why it’s starting off crazy high as well…
Now once you have a whack available (or you decide to use a blindfold) you just tap Smash and the game will do the rest…
And it’s that simple to smash those Piñatas!
Note: After you’ve smashed the first Piñata for Part 2, DO NOT SMASH ANYMORE! You will need to smash 50 for part 4 and any you smash before getting there won’t count.

I guess we’re in a new era where it’s okay to sell people things that don’t work. Yes, I know it’s “freemium”, but no one at Tiny Co. is doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. At least they’re not alone.

I sent in a help comment about them swapping a 4 hour guaranteed blindfold for a chance at a Seamus blindfold (the earlier characters didn’t have a 100%drop rate on their first run)…I just wish TinyCo could run an event that was glitch free. (Or major glitch free–you’d think the code for latchers would’ve been perfected by now).

When I sent Seamus to do his blindfold task, I got a message from Peter saying that I had to smash a pinata. I had already smashed 3. No other character gave me that issue.

How is it fixed? Or what is the fix? I have no timer. That space is gone. Rewards and down is still there and the buy button???? Still waiting to smash my first pinata. Especially since no word back from all the TinyCo in game.

Soap Opera Peter is a timed event in essence, so how come a “common” item appears to be very rare, 4 quests for a cowboy hat &, how many got? Em, let me think, mmmmm, none!!, zilch, nada, zero, uninstall game, start drinking, blame hangover on TinyCo, 🙂 🙂

Bat timer was messed up, now it doesnt recharge at all. They best make up for a lost day basically. 10 free blindfolds would do it 🙂

Just a note from an Irish man: please never refer to St. Patrick’s Day as St. Pat’s or St. Patty’s Day. It is simple just never called that. The informal names is Paddy’s Day cause Paddy is the nickname for Patrick, not Patty. (It’s comes from Padraig, the Irish for Patrick.)

It seems like the pinata spawning is having the same timer issue as the bat, and new ones are only spawning after 2 hours of actually being in the game.

On second thought, maybe they weren’t spawning before because I was at the max number. Have they been spawning every two hours for other people?

I hate that it renders a building useless if there’s a pinata on it. My timer is not working correctly so I can’t clear the pinatas, therefore I can’t assign any of my people tasks to those buildings which screws me up big-time. I already vented to Tiny Co about it, but I thought I’d rant here. Grrr. I’m not sure why they thought this was a good idea.

This game is so infuriating it’s brilliant, I spend 2 hours moving stuff around to make it look “good”, then I think, no that doesn’t fit there, so I move it again, for another 2 hours, aaaargh, come on man, sheesh, “Feng Shui” is stopping me completing tasks 😉

I messaged them through the app about the timer because it is not working. But the timer seems to count down only while the app is open, not with time in general. So hopefully they will fix that soon. (I know others have the issue, I saw the writing at the top of the page) But it seems to count down regularly when the app itself is open.

Its probably a bit late for most but for the one that just started if u want two of each building start building the same one with another worker (only work with 2 worker or 3 or 4) but the same apply. If u finish building a building that one will be gone from the store but if u havent click the finish built button u can build more then one of that type of building. I tried it and it work. Hope thats not too confusing

I’m having the same kind of pinata problem. They don’t seem to spawn correctly, and it still says I’ve not unlocked the ability to collect candies, even though I am in part 4. Any advice?

Unfortunately, no. I am getting 1 pinata every 3 hours or so. I was in touch with someone at TinyCo who was very gracious and helpful, but the conversation just disappeared after I accidentally clicked on the check mark saying my question had been answered and I had to re-submit a new one (no new response yet). Is there a way to pull up that original conversation so that the original representative could still help me?

Usually there is not, no. If you closed it out it may be gone. You can try and check your messages, but if it is not there… not much more you can do.
It is the weekend, so tech is light and mainly those to just keep the game running. Main customer service will return Monday morning. So even if you did find the convo, you may not be able to reach them til Monday anyway.
We are also reaching out to them on our side in regards to the issue. Hang in there. I am sure they are working on it.

I know what the bug is. The timer only counts down when players are actually playing the game. When you switch to another program or turn the device off the timer pauses/stops. I reported this to TinyCo.

I have a quick question for you girls I’m sorry if someone already asked this before me. So if I go into my deco tab the last three items are blindfolds however I still have candies (not a finger,kookie nut pop, sixty four thousand dollar bars) I believe they are leftover from the pink Brian costume. So can I buy these instead of waiting for the piñata? The pictures next to peters costume and in the deco tab are the same. They each cost 15 clams. If it works I would only do it if I’m way behind by the end of the event. I hope my question makes sense. Thank you for all the help! Have a great addict day 🙂

my bat doesnt have a countdown at all. From what I have experienced with TinyCo is that it takes them weeks to respond, and often without even bothering to read the email. Of course by then the event has passed……

I also just want to add that it’s now saying I have not unlocked the ability to start whacking pinatas yet/collect candies, that I need to finish more quests. Yet the latest quest is to whack a pinata (I don’t appear to have any other unfinished quests open/needed). What do I do? I have contacted TinyCo but any advise would be helpful. Thanks again

FYI clammers, just tried to send TinyCo an in-game message about the bat timer. I keep getting a pop up message stating that my message did not get sent & to tap “try again” button to send it. Kept pressing “try again” and nothing. Closed & opened my game 5+ times, still nothing. Bat timer not working, message not sent as of the posting of this message.

Is anyone else having trouble getting pinatas to spawn? I’m still stuck on “A Whole New Mundo” Pt. 2 and am being asked to smash 1 pinata, but none are showing up at all. Do I need to build Senor Limpiador first? Is there something else going on? Help please! Thanks so much.

So the clock seems only to tick when you are in the game. I’ve knocked off all of 20 minutes in 4+ hours. Anyway, if the blindfolds are guaranteed drops then this shouldn’t really be a problem. Please tell us the blindfolds are guaranteed drops Alissa.

I will verify, they are not 100 percent drops. Ijust got 2 out of 4, but they say common. Hopefully that was just a bit of bad luck.

Soooo mad. Just got to the Part 2 “to smash the one pinatas” and it says I smashed all the pinatas already. ?????? THEN the pinatas popped up on the buildings. So, NOW have to wait four hours before I to get attempt part 2. What the Hey??????

Not only do I have a time premature-timerlation but my timer is also broken 3hr 55min. to go. Know it took me more than ten minutes since posting here then not including going in-game to post and restart game. Soo not a happy start. LOL

New issue just sent to them. When I go to close my game. Ask are you sure. Say yes. It closes. Then I hit the game icon to start it up again (was checking on my timer…and the game opens right to where I left off. No loading screen or nothing. Just open as if I never logged out. Timer is running okay but the only way to truly CLOSE the game, right now, is to force close it. Was that their solution to make the timer keep time?

Oh and my game now loads like before when I open it to play. (No longer stuck in open mode even when turned off.) As it use to. But as stated before the timer has not moved UNLESS I’m in game. Bunny mine usually drops me by the Griffen house when I open it. When it was glitching it stayed in same place, for me, cause the game never REALLY turned off.
