Update 3/13 9pm EDT: TinyCo has made a couple of adjustments in the game tonight. They’ve completely removed the clock feature from the stick…so now you must earn Blindfolds to make it work. However, they’ve added a task for Seamus (Sing Shanties) to also help earn Blindfolds (so now you have Peter, Bruce, Mort, Herbert AND Seamus that can help earn Blindfolds).
The timer is NOT coming back. The 4hr task replaces the timer (as they all take the same amount of time).
In addition they’ve added a task for Conseula to drop Cowboy Hats (6hrs, Clean the Town)
Also…as a side note for those struggling with Plutonium. They’ve added a task for Tricia and Connie to help earn more Plutonium
There currently is a known issue with the bat timer and it not counting down properly. So if you’re experiencing it, know that you’re not the only one. The best thing to do is to contact TinyCo via your game and let them know you’re impacted too. The more players that report it the quicker they’ll be able to determine what’s causing it.

Well the weekend looms large and you know what that means? No, not time to break out the Bunny Water (although it is almost St. Pats!). Nope it’s time for another TQFS Weekend Event!
What’s in store for us this time? Well in case you didn’t get it from the title of this post….it’s Telenovela Weekend in Quahog! So what does this mean for you??? Well….the long awaited arrival of Soap Opera Peter!
As always we’ll be back with more details as we go through them….for now know that the event ends on Wednesday March 18th (3pm PDT) so you have until then to unlock Soap Opera Peter or he’ll disappear from the game…oh and, as usual, you must be at least District 3 for the event to hit your game. (as if you newbies needed more motivation to find Lois in your new Quahog!)

For those curious, it’ll cost you over 400 Clams for instant create.
Remember you have until March 18th at 3pm PDT to unlock Soap Opera Peter, or he’ll disappear from the game! (no matter where you are in the unlock process) So get him before he disappears!
Piñatas
Who remembers Latcher Stewie? How about the poltergeist? Well….they’re baaaacccckkk! Sorta.
Latchers are back for this event….only this time they’re Piñatas! Yes, that’s right my friends…we once again get to clear things from buildings! (I can feel your excitement already)
Just like latchers of events past, Piñatas will block buildings and make them unusable. (so be careful who you send on what task) Smashing the Piñatas (clearing them from the buildings) will help you earn candy needed to unlock Soap Opera Peter. So pull out your sticks and whack it!! Giggity!
So how do you smash them? Well what’s a Piñata smashing without a blindfold and stick? Kinky…
You’ll pull out your stick and whack the Piñatas (what did you think we were just joking about that?).
So what’s the spawn rate for the Piñatas?
Well….at a normal rate Piñatas will spawn every 2hrs and you can have a max in your town of 5 Piñatas at a time.
How Long Will they Latch onto a building?
They’ll change buildings every 8hrs if you don’t clear them before then.
Note: you will not see Piñatas until AFTER you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2.
Also…if you purchase the Piñata decoration from the store it will spawn even more Piñatas in your town!
Blindfolds
So what does the blindfold do? Blindfolds aren’t just for fun…they have a practical use too. Blindfolds allow you to instantly get back to whacking those Piñatas. (think zapper Batteries for Latcher Stewie) Otherwise the normal cool down time between whacks is 4 hrs.
Blindfolds can be earned by doing tasks…or purchased from the shop….
Which characters can earn blindfolds from tasks?
Mort- Swallow Jewels
Peter- Cook Disgusting Vegetables
Bruce- Be a Good Listener
Herbert- Buy Candy for Kids
Currently there are 3 options to purchase Blindfolds.
1 Blindfold- 10 Clams
3 Blindfolds- 25 Clams
10 Blindfolds- 75 Clams.
So How Do I Smash Piñatas?
Once you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2, part of the quest will be to smash a Piñata. You’ll see them hanging out over buildings…they latch onto the coins, they’ll look like this:
When you tap on those Piñatas the bat screen will come up & it will tell you how much time you have left to recharge your bat:
As you can see this still needs a full 4hr charge before I can whack the Piñatas. If you don’t have any Blindfolds available it’ll say Buy…but if you have them available it’ll say Use:
Note…you’ll see your blindfold count in the bottom right corner of your screen:
Remember you can earn Blindfolds via Character tasks (Herbert, Peter, Bruce & Mort) or you can buy them in the store.
IF your blindfold count looks crazy high (at one point mine said 17,000 +) hard close and restart your game a few times. This should reset the counter. TinyCo IS looking into why it’s starting off crazy high as well…
Now once you have a whack available (or you decide to use a blindfold) you just tap Smash and the game will do the rest…
And it’s that simple to smash those Piñatas!
Note: After you’ve smashed the first Piñata for Part 2, DO NOT SMASH ANYMORE! You will need to smash 50 for part 4 and any you smash before getting there won’t count.

Anyone else think the math on this one just doesn’t add up? 5 days is 120 hours, with a new latcher coming every 2 hours that’s 60… They don’t drop candy 100% of the time, more like 50% from what it seems to me, so that’s enough time to collect about 30. Maybe I’m just getting unlucky, but this would demand that a freemium player gets a 90% drop rate and get all the timing perfectly, just seems like a bit too much. I hope my math is badly off, if not this is a horrible botch of an event IMO.

YES! I did the math after my first piñata hit, then saw I need 55 candies. Even if I diligently checked in ever four hours and got 100% candy drops, it would take me three days. THREE DAYS! I like playing, but I don’t want to stress out. Geez!
Good way to have people use clams, spend money on clams, then spend even more with a hugely geeky event the next day so people can spend more money on clams! That’s the point though.
I’m going to call fowl on the price of the mariachis… I only want the guitar player (no shock there). It’s the ONLY mariachi that costs 40 clams. Every other mariachi is 25 clams. Holy crap, thanks TinyCo.
PS: roaming mariachis would be great! I wasn’t aware they didn’t roam. Great idea Ryan.

TinyCo like to put ridiculously tight timings on these mini events, I don’t know why as it’s only ever going to upset people.
I’ve only had 10 piñatas so far, including one for the early mission, 6 candies. 4 days left at the time of me posting this, max of 48 piñatas in that time, a drop every time would give me 54 candies, looks like I’ve already failed on Day 1.
I guess we’re supposed to factor in the 25 clams for completing the costume set, if applicable, and decided if that will help with whatever we need to pay to get the skin.

It is there way of keeping things challenging. It would have worked as planned if not for the stick issue. Hang in there, the good thing is they are monitoring the event and working on finding a way for it to still work without the stick. We are speaking with them as well.

Thanks, I know Aliss and yourself are always looking out for us. I plan to keep going. It is slowly getting worse with 11 candies for 18 piñatas so I hope something does change in my favour.
It is a little disheartening to see you’ve already failed in the first couple of days. I blame math, if I hadn’t done the math I’d be completely oblivious 🙂
I was probably being a but unfair with the “ridiculously tight timings” comment, that only really applied to Rupert. I mainly remember not having enough time to do the questlines for Sexy Stewie or Dia de los Muertos Consuela after unlocking the skins.

I like the mariachis but I’m gonna pass. Would definitely have pulled the trigger if they roamed the street together as a band. Like, if each on you decided to purchase automatically met up with the other(s) on the street and assumed formation. Just a suggestion TC. 🙂

Question about the side note about plutonium:
I am still working on unlocking Stewie’s original plutonium but neither Connie nor Trisha are showing tasks to earn it. Is this only for district 11 tasks plutonium?

Stewie’s Plutonium for District 8? That’s different than the plutonium for Blimps. So Connie and Trisha don’t have tasks for THAT plutonium

Yea, I’ve noticed mine comes in spurts.. I’ll get them like 4 or 5 times, then go 3 w/out. Weird drop rates, but I’m not complaining since they added 2 characters to the task set.

The eternal question. Should I grab Consuela while she’s on sale (I didn’t have enough clams to grab her when she was 1/2 off) or save them for the Star Trek event? I know you’ll say it’s really up to me. I’m a definitely a Trekkie and not a huge fan of Consuela, but I figure Consuela is more likely to be useful in the future. BTW I have 576 clams and I should get another 25 when I get Spanish Soap Opera Peter.

It doesn’t help as you yadva guaranteed chance to use the stick, now its not guaranteed. Unless they change it to definitely dropping.

Another reason to spend the next 4 days non stop trying to get something thats not guarantee. To get the hats alone with every time drops and no Consuella it will take 2 1/2 days on lois and Bonnie’s 6hr tasks. 1 1/2 days of getting moustaches 100% of the days mind you its rare. And you’ll need 15 piñatas per day to get the candy. And remember the element of Chance.

Hang in there. They always monitor each event and watch for issues to see if adjustments need to be made. We are also talking with them on our thoughts. Feel free to message them from your game and share yours.

I did and i always do but their customer service is appalling. I usually get an automated response 3 weeks after. I guess TinyCo are just really bad at math. 5days to get 55 candies that show up with once every 2 hours. The math:
5×24= 120hrs.
120/2 =60 times if you are playing every 10 hrs on the dot or more frequent.
Drop rate of 90% is still going to be 54 candies.
You mentioned those in panic mode get it but thats a real bad way to treat consumers.
Please stop defending them. For once just admit it. They screw up. By defending TinyCo it sounds like you guys have a deal with them or something.

Again… I am NOT defending them and find offense in you saying that. I see this in everyday life, NOT just this game. The quick judgment. I am here to HELP. I am just saying wait. I see it all the time. Everyone panics right at the start. Not even a day in and the towel is thrown in and the thing declared a failure before it even began. I am saying instead of panic, give it a bit. See what happens. If there is a concern, then voice it. Great. I do. I tell it right to the source. But if you feel attacking those trying to help gets you somewhere… I guess that is your thing.

I really wish people would spend a couple min reading the posts Bunny and Alissa post before asking questions or complaining about stuff in the comments. I imagine they both get tired of telling people to look up and read the above post. They do a great job, there has been very little I didn’t understand or need clarification on after reading their stuff. Rant over… I think 🙂

And the glitches with the bat continue… Per here and ingame FAQ once your town has been cleared of all blocked buildings (formerly pinatas) they are suppose to regenerate once every TWO hours for a max of five. I cleared my town 6 hours ago and not one has shown up since. If this continues there is no way I will obtain the requisite pieces of Candy required to get Spanish Peter. Almost 24 hours in and I only have 8…

Candy as a common drop: great, since you need so many in a short period of time. Candy not dropping with every hit, despite being a common drop: very much not great. Honestly, I’m disappointed we’ve got this building latched gimmick to earn a critical element of a limited time skin. It’s my least favorite of all the gimmicks, and it keeps latching on the buildings with characters on plutonium tasks. Ugh.

The drop rate for candy seems to be more uncommon than common. I’m only getting about 1 candy for every 4 piñatas.

Try collecting the coins from your important buildings quickly and leave unimportant one uncollected. This will make it a lot less likely of locking up a building you need.

Previously posted that may drop this task, definatly now, after playing for nearey a day 3 candy and 1 moustache and have then all on the tasks, on that drop rate no chance. Taking the guaranteed timer off and giving you a chance is not a help. Gave us more chances to get plutonium which was not too bad in the first place, but making this costume even harder to get? Where is the sense in that. Tiny have made a major mess with this one in my eyes, should never have been timed wuth the quantity of stuff needed and drop rates. For those saying need to use clams, spent quiet a lot recently especially on premium stuff like Arnie and ok with that, but not for a skin. Sticking to the plutonium earning tasks and they can stick this one. At least the Trek event to look towards with a smile.

Well, this is completely messed up. Glitches everywhere. Been sending everybody on their jobs to get “common” blindfolds, but not a single one has dropped yet. And now Herbert is locked out of his blindfold task, because it is blocked by a Piñata – which can’t be cleared because no blindfolds have dropped.
Is TinyCo deliberately trying to make this game unenjoyable? I’ve tolerated the past problems and frustrations with the game, but I think this is the first time I’m just going to say “sorry, not interested in this event, I’m out.”

Sadly the stick feature not working put a halt on a lot of cool ideas they had for this event. Sorry for your frustration. Just know that we are reporting all issues and player feedback to them. Feel free to do so as well if you wish from your game menu.

Why this event now when we’re trying to finish the blimp and then get going on Star Trek.? I hate all these dumb animated decorations. Give me characters. I despise these latcher things. At least make them not attach to buildings that we use to collect stuff for this dumb event. The one good thing about tinyco doing all these dumb things is that it is stopping me from spending money on the game.

So. If these piñatas only spawn every 2 hours that’s 60 in 5 days, which is about the length of the event. Given that smashing a piñata is not a guarantee to getting candies, I doubt it will possible to get the costume without spending some clams. If candies cost 4 clams each (possibly) I’m hoping to get this costume for 24-36 clams. That is unless they make some more adjustments in the next day or two. I definitely can’t justify buying the piñata generator for 130 … That’s just way too much.

I think it’s safe to say that my blimp has disappeared entirely. I activated my blimp to start pt.3 Egyptian task.. The blimp shot off like normal and has never come back. The landing pad is gone as well. I’m halfway through Olivia’s task (need bathhouse and triceratops) and my plutonium task options for Tom Tucker, Mayor West, and Carter P. are gone. I have tried a troubleshooting guide from Bunny and have also uninstalled/installed the game twice.. No luck. This happened 2 days ago. The area of water where my blimp/landing pad is completely empty… Any other advice??? Anyone???

As of the time I am wring this there is only enough time to spawn 56 pinatas before the event ends.
Assuming guranteed candy drops from each pinata, if you havent collected your first pinata within the next 4 hours, you will have to pay clams for SSO Peter. Really cutting it close with this one aren’t they?

I personally love these mini-event weekend-challenge things TinyCo drops on us. I’m not sure why so many people get so bent out of shape about em, cuz when it comes to city building games, this is the ONLY one that really keeps you on your toes All the Time! Always something new(ish) to strive for, always fast paced, and admittedly…always stressful… Yes, the drawback is generally some glitches and “stuff” earning issues, on top of frustrating drop rates, but TinyCo is usually pretty quick to compensate in one way or another. I guess what it boils down to is that I play FG TQFS every day for almost a year now, and while I have invested a bit more real life money than I probably should, I still usually complete events/challenges totally freemium. And if I know I won’t make it, I drop a few clams! That’s simply just how the game works, and I think it’s usually pretty fair. Just play how YOU want to play and enjoy the things you CAN earn just by playing an awesome game based on an AWSOME show! And I’ve said it before, but anyone who plays this game might as well consider this site an extension of the quest for stuff. You girls rule, and if not for your hard work, tips tricks and strategies I may NOT have earned some timed challenge STUFF! So as always, thank you Bunny and Alissa! How does the quest start? I can collect cowboy hats and mustaches, but not candy. It says I must start the quest first. I can also purchase the buildings but still no actual quest? I’m working on Olivia’s quest, so I have all districts open.

To be honest, this is reminding me of the Pee Pants outfit, which is not a good thing.
1) We need 55 candies for the outfit.
2) The Pinatas appear 1 every 2hrs, meaning up to 12 per day
3) The event runs til Wednesday afternoon. That means we have 4 full days (Sat-Tues) plus a few hours today and Wednesday, which I’ll round up to 1 more day, giving us 5 total days.
4) That means that there can only be a grand total of 60 pinatas total (unless you spend clams).
5) The candy drop rate is Common, not Always. Even if Common drops 90% of the time (which I don’t think it’s that high), that drops you down to 54 candies, which falls short of the total needed.
To succeed without spending clams, you need to (1) be very lucky and (2) play constantly (or at least consistently with no down time) or risk maxing out your Pinata count and losing one. I am also assuming that the blindfold drop rate will keep up.
And then, even if you do succeed, there’s going to be no way to finish the storyline, since you’ll be getting the outfit at the last minute and the stories generally don’t extend past the end of the event.
If my math is wrong, will someone please, please, please show me… because I don’t think this is realistically doable.

Me either! I need the clams once the outfit completes the group for Peter, but I don’t want to spend clams to get it.
Too much stress. Valentine’s was too stressful also and I chose not to participate past clearing stupid couples that kept changing appearance. I really wanted the buildings, but way too much of a cost—in terms of time, stress and money. Now I get to see them in the multiverse. Oh ya, that’s a lot of fun. 😥

Love ur site, it’s been very helpful, WAY more so than TinyCo’s help section, anyway i noticed a discrepancy in what we can buy during the wknd event and just wanted to give u all an fyi in case u don’t already know. The taco bus isn’t a decoration, it’s in the shop as a building, it’s an instant build, i bought it this afternoon and it’s been dropping coins, i don’t recall how much or often; i have no clue if it’s an error and shouldn’t be a building or what lol, but i’m sure u all will check it and update us all😀. Thank u for the time spent helping us and keeping us all up to date, it’s very much appreciated.

Greatttttt I should have come here before I sent my characters on 24 hour tasks. I didn’t see event items show up in their task list (all the ones that earn blindfolds) guess I have to wait (or use clams but that’s a lot of clams).

Once the bugs are completely worked out, I think this will be a fun quest! Looking forward to Spanish Soap Opera Peter. I don’t even care that it has nothing to do with the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day. I mean, they never celebrated President’s Day, right? Or Mother’s and Father’s days. Nor did they celebrate Canada’s July 1st. So what’s the big deal? Maybe they will do it next year.

I am in the same boat. Cleared 4 piñatas and only one candy dropped. I am not setting alarm clocks in the night just to play this game. I can’t afford to buy clams to play this game.
I don’t want to hear anyone tell me that it’s a choice to get this character. I choice to play to earn this character. I don’t think I should have to pay for it.

I’m glad this is a weekend only thing. I think I just won’t play until Monday or Tuesday. It’s getting me too pissed off. Only Call of Duty is allowed to piss me off this bad, lol.
