Hello There Clammers!
Dropping in with some much needed GOOD NEWS about candy in the Telenovela Event. Are you ready for it?
The Candy requirement has been changed to….35! They’ve dropped the required number of candies down 20. So now you’ll only need 35 Candies to unlock Spanish Soap Opera Peter! So many of you should be there already!
The event still ends at 3pm PDT on 3/18/15….BUT with this candy drop many of you should have no problem getting him!

Just one candy and two more hats needed – with 8 hours to go ( I hope it won’t actually end earlier than 3pm EST). So it’s one more round for cowboy hats (six hours) and then I will buy out what is missing. It is below the 25 clams for completing the set already, so I am fine with paying a few clams, even if I may hardly ever use the costume.

Well, I decided to spend 20 clams on Soap Opera Peter. I had all the candy and mustaches, but couldn’t get enough hats. The problem I’m running into is that I can’t finish the questline for smashing 50 piñatas because my game only spawns 2 or 3 a day. I have a ton of blindfolds left, just nothing to use them on.

I have a lot of faith in TinyCo. They’re not perfect and their game isn’t perfect. Many of you can attest that your individual problems aren’t solved. But when it’s a major issue like this, they acknowledge that a mistake was made and fix it. Plus, they take risks and try new things. I don’t think we’ve ever had a boring major event. There’s always SOMETHING different around the corner.
More importantly, they pay attention to the players, this site, and the awesome work that you ladies here do. We’re all in your debt. I know I would be enjoying the game far less without you! Don’t get discouraged by the hard times (like simultaneous Brandine/Spanish Soap Peter issues) and know that you make it a more fun experience =D

It’ll be nice if they extend SSO Peter’s questline for a day or so. As it is, it’s barely possible to get him cleanly at all during the course of the event, even after the change, so it’s basically impossible to progress in his questline before it ends without spamming clams.

I smashed all 50 pinatas and also collected all 35 candy to collect SO Peter. My characters can still collect blindfolds. Are they still needed for something else?

Hey Addicts, I have a dilemma.
I am 5 mustaches away from getting Spanish Soap Opera Peter. However, I do have enough clams to create the costume instantly. Is it worth it to spend 25 clams on this costume?

It’s honestly up to what will make YOU happy. 3 months from now will you still want him?
My outlook… it’s a costume… for a main character… that is ALWAYS used. So not sure how often you’ll see the Costume again. I don’t know how in the future his actions will help either.

If you have the other skins you’ll get back 25 or more clams I think. So, unless he comes back soon, you can’t really lose in this dilemma.

I think I’m going to buy Spanish peter with clams, and I’ll use the 25 clams to compensate. My grandmother past away last night, so I don’t have the time or patience to finish today with tasks

None of the characters who dropped blindfolds are dropping them for me anymore. I don’t mean that the rate is scarce, I mean that it’s no longer listed for anyone as a reward. It stopped a few hours ago and now I have no way of getting them (other than spending clams) PLZ HELP!

Check Al’s to see if you got all the Candy you need and don’t need piñatas

Put in a support ticket. Even if you have all the candies, it should still be allowing you to get blindfolds. Especially if you haven’t finished the “Smash 50 piñatas” task (A Whole New Mundo pt. 4). If yours is a unique issue, they may not be able to get to you to fix it before the end of the event, but you’ll be on record, so maybe they’ll be able to help you retroactively. Make sure that if you end up having to spend clams to get SSO Peter because of this, you note that in your support ticket.

I’ve been playing this event since it started and all I have for Spanish Soap Opera Peter is 14/20 cowboy hats, 5/16 mustaches, and 19/35 candies. I know I won’t make it to the deadline. But I was wondering is this the only time he’ll ever be available. If it is then I’ll have to buy some clams to get him before the deadline. Thanks to TinyCo, Bunny, and Alissa for making this game awesome. I’ve been playing since the beginning of last year and have 59/66 characters.

Thing you need to ask yourself is will a costume for a widely used main Character Peter be worth it? 3 months from now will you still want it?

You will also get clams provided you have the others in the set, aslong as you dont spend more then 25 clans you wont lose any.

Good news on reducing the count if they dropped candies. I’ve hit 41 pinatas and only have 28 Candies. No candies have dropped since the change for me 😦 I’ll probably end up spending the clams to craft it as I’ll get a clam reward back anyway.

There must be a lot of variation written into the code of this game, because I didn’t *not* get candy from a piñata after the change, until after I got number 35. I assumed they upped it to an every time drop. Since I just got the last mustache, now it’s just a matter of whether I can get the “break 50 piñatas” task. All I can say is keep on going, and that if you haven’t made it by time, spend the clams. 7 or fewer candies should cost you less than the 25 clams you should be getting for completing the costume set, and if he reappears later (like maybe on Cinco de Mayo), the price is likely to be a lot higher…

Tinyco really seems like they want you to get a majority of their items if you put in the time, This is the only reason I still play this game.

Now that I’m watching Spanish Soap Opera Peter strum his guitar, I so wish TinyCo would have held off on releasing this skin until Cinco de Mayo. I’d like to buy the Mariachi boys to go with Pedro but need to save my clams for Star Wars. 😦 Two events with things I want, are too close together. I’m not complaining. I’m very grateful to have Pedro. Just thinking out loud.

Those hats are not dropping as common, they are dropping as uncommon at the most. 9 left and i haven’t missed them for the missions yet

I think this was a Must Do for TinyCo, last thing they needed was having most all their players po’d going into what seems their biggest event yet.
I just hope TinyCo realizes how important Bunny & Alissa are to them. Without them and this website, I would have deleted this game during Comic Con out of pure frustration. But since finding this site, I’ve been enjoying the game and have spent a good chunk of change on many premium items.
So, thanks Bunny & Alissa 🙂

TinyCo sure loves to make things frustratingly hard and then cave to public pressure an awful lot! But it’s nice that they do so.

I still think the game NEEDS a challenge. I don’t want another mindless easy game. Their are too many of those going around already. I want a game with twists and turns and make you think.
It wasn’t “caving” to pressure in my mind. It was they saw an issue once it went live. Tried to fix it, and it just wouldn’t work live. So they scrambled to find another way. What they DID do is listen to pure facts and stats. With the help of readers here… I SHOWED them where diligent players were at while playing the game as it was intended. That was a great help in determining a new cap as an alternate way to still have same results the original set up that failed would have offered.
My opinion on it all anyway. I am just appreciative they do watch their game AND players so closely. 😉

And you have to know that you are appreciated! We know you truly have their ear and at the same time you have your finger on the pulse of the Quahog-gers. It’s a tough job, but I can’t think of better people to handle it.

I totally agree Bunny. Maybe instead of timed challenges they can do something more along the line of puzzles to solve, where we have to find clues to progress to the next level. Or something to that effect.

Oh I agree. I would just love too see more ‘thinking’ challenges as opposed to ‘beat the clock’ type challenges. Those don’t even the playing field for people who work full-time. IMO.

I am in a similar place. No pinatas, and 18 blindfolds! I am still 5 away from unlocking the skin. I have been getting a candy 1 out of every 3 or 4 times,. so I am not sure if this will go, but I agree that this website and the women who spend so much of their own time and resources are one of the reasons I did not delete and move on. I have only been playing for a couple months, and the only events I have been part of were valentines and this one, so they are 0 in 2 for glitch free – works exactly as it is supposed to events. Leery about spending any real money from this point forward. I spent some money because I like to support developers, but at this point, I have spent more on this game than any other I have ever bought in the past, and they all worked perfectly from day one.

Good move by TinyCo and I’m appreciative…however…
The cynical side of me is insisting this was a deliberate move – to drum up talk about TQFS on social media and then TinyCo swoops in and changes from villain to hero in one keystroke.
I mean, they had to have done the math and realized it was not mathematically possible for many Freemium players to unlock SSOP and either it was a clam-grab attempt that back-fired horribly (as if they couldn’t anticipate the vocal backlash from their community), or it was to get more people on board for the Star Trek event and make TinyCo look awesome in the end.
Either way, this was the right move TinyCo. Thank you.

Your comment is indeed disappointing. I would rather have it be that this was the plan all along as Joel has stated — to get buzz about the game, come in and save the day and have people feeling great about the game so they plunk down cash for clams during the major event. Instead, you are confirming that TinyCo can’t even structure tasks that are mathematically possible. THAT is disconcerting. This is a time/clock management game with some incredibly thoughtful and witty dialogue. The execution leaves a considerable amount to be desired at times. I am not asking for them to make things incredibly simple; I want them to challenge my brain. That brain stimulation and my love for the show are the reasons I play the game. But sometimes it seems as if the players have thought through the tasks better than people who are running the game. Most players knew by Saturday that 55 candies was highly improbable without the piñata machine. It should not have taken TinyCo until Tuesday to figure it out as well. And if they did know earlier (which they certainly should have based on posts here and in-game messages), then they should have acted. Polling 700+ players with less than 36 hours remaining wasn’t the right way to do it. What about the people who played through the weekend and gave up Monday when they knew 55 wasn’t attainable and TinyCo had remained silent?
We are approaching the anniversary of the launch of this app and I hope TinyCo is spending some time to reflect on the many mistakes it has made over the past year. They should want to instill confidence in their players so they spend money, not send them running for sharpened pitchforks and throwing their devices against the wall because of mismanagement.
I am rooting for you TinyCo because you have a great game here and I want to be playing it for a long time. But I have grave concerns for the future based on what you have shown us thus far in the first quarter of 2015.

I think you misunderstand my post and are reading way too much into it. Lol. There is ALWAYS an element in every Event since they started the game that the “help” increases towards the end.
THIS Event probably would have still had that element. However there was an issue with the main source of hitting those pinatas. So it kind of changed the entire element of the game.
TinyCo didn’t remain silent. They function the same as any other Company, well… strike that… the others DO NOT respond. EVER! Ones like EA NEVER EVER say a word. (If you follow TinyCo FB and Twitter you would see they are always there in one form or another.) They continued to work on it. The polling was MY idea not theirs. I was helping YOU out as players to let them know where everybody was. I was relaying their thoughts as well. Asking ALL Players to be patient and not give up. That is a players choice to do so, but we are also a source for them to utilize to answer thousands of players all at once vs one at a time that would take a week just to reply to individually.
No need to read more into my thoughts than necessary. 😉

Yes Alissa and bunny are the heroes here not tinyco. Tinyco always intended for you to get 55 candies, opposed to when they knew ppl were having trouble with Jesus but had it planned in the event for those extra 125000 cookies u get. I see someone asked for there 125 clams back and got it, however wow 125 clams to get a piñata that spawns more pinatas on a freemium event that ur going to use once like actually it will not be used again if this game is still going 10 yrs frm now. I would spend money on bigger events like halloween Star Wars whenever it comes Star Trek yaddaya daaa but it seems that most premium things I get r a one time thing and then useless.

I just saw this on Facebook and went to check how many I had. I knew I had over 30, but it turns out I only had 32. It was so painful until a few pinatas showed up a minute later and I was able finish up. His costume is being made as I type.

Hahaha! I was choked when I smashed two pinatas and no candy dropped. I went to Al’s to see how many more I needed and was pleasantly surprised to see the drop in requirements. Guess I was mad over nothing. Now if only that plutonium will drop faster.

I have to say that I was slightly annoyed that they dropped the candy requirement. I realized that I would likely NEED the Piñata deco to actually accomplish the character requirements when it was set to 55. So I bought the stupid thing because I really like the skins. Them lowering the candy amount made that purchase pretty much pointless. I only wanted the thing to get more piñatas for candy drops.
I sent TinyCo a message lamenting my purchase and saying how I wouldn’t have bought the stupid thing if the number was 35 from the start. To my surprise they responded very quickly and refunded me the clams for the piñata. Way to go TinyCo.

✨Unlocked Spanish Soap Opera Peter right AFTER the change in candy needed (I had collected 47 before that…😔) Now working through the event questlines fast before it ends tomorrow.🌟
✨I’m now only 1 Pinata away from the 50 that need to be smashed.🌟
✨FINALLY unlocked Olivia yesterday so not rushing anything at all with the Fine Arts District.🌟

My faith in TinyCo is restored !! Dialing down the candy requirement was not necessarily expected but not completly surprising given that I’ve seen them historically listen to their player base, whether freemium or premium. And for your continued support, bunny & Alissa, thank you as well!

Still imossible for me without spending clams because of the hats. Also won’t be able to finish the whole new Mundo quest as it requires smashing 50 pinatas. . I’m currently at 37.

the quest has nothing to do with getting Peter. The questline ends after that 50 pinata requirement. So if you finish it or don’t, it ends anyway

I’m happy that I have a better chance of getting Spanish Peter but at the same time I don’t think tinyco should have caved like they did. Unless this whole event was actually flawed in some way I can’t help but feel like an entitled little baby for thinking it was unfair to begin with. Just my opinion of course. Because it is a game. It’s like getting a prize just for participating.

The thing is, it WAS flawed from the beginning. Everyone who did the raw math on it knew it was statistically impossible to complete the event. Even a couple of days into the event, with due diligence, our ‘uber-Quahog-gers’ knew that the time allotted did not match the outcome.
You got 5 bandanas every 4 hours and pinata every 2 for a maximum of 5 in your town.
Most of us were experiencing a candy drop of 3 out of 4, sometimes 2 out of 3
The event lasts 6 full days with a possible 72 pinata showing up in your town. That means that you MIGHT get 54 by the end of the event if you waited to the last possible moment and got every last pinata that showed up. But most of us have to sleep.
On average, in the morning when I had about 4 pinata in my town, two of them were empty and only contributed to the initial questline of getting 50 pinata.
No, this time we don’t have to feel as though it was a bunch of entitled whiners who changed it so all the lil soccer players get a trophy for participating.

I appreciate the change and apllaud TC for doing it.
But I have to wonder why every single event has to have some sort or mitigation to mollify the torch and pitchfork wielding masses?
I want to believe that its innocent mistakes and TC is just finding it hard to balance events, but as long as its been gone on, that view point is starting to reflect a severe lack of intellectual capability at TC. And I don’t think they are idiots. Which leaves me thinking this is all planned to panic the players and squeeze the most clams possible out of the player base before going all Good Guy Greg to save face. Cynical, but I calls’em like I sees’em.

I do not see it every event. I see that MAJORITY of events it would have played out just fine had they left it alone. More times than any I see people complaining TOO MUCH at the end. “Gimme something to trade all these extras for”. Since the Circus Event… this is the ONLY event that the glitch made it impossible. And they fixed it.

I like the game especially it’s close to the border of casual and hardcore (playing as free). Those changes makes it so often too casual and all I do is sigh and don’t complain. But the spark has gone.

It’s so awesome that they actually listen to their players, that’s part of what makes me love this game so much. I am happy for everyone who is now able to get their Spanish soap Peter. However, I had bought 2 sets of 10 blindfolds (150 clams) earlier on AND the piñata decoration (another 125 I believe) to spawn more piñatas specifically so that I would make sure I got enough candies in time, now it seems like a huge waste of 275 clams since the count has been changed. THAT I don’t like, but they can’t always please everyone. I still love them even if it did make me waste clams 😍
And of course a HUGE thank you to Bunny and Alissa, I’ve come to rely on this site for everything in game!

I haven’t gotten very many piñatas today. I bought blindfolds using clams so I could get enough candy. I only have 31 right now. I’ve been checking every two hours and either have no piñatas or only one. Any one know why?

Good change. During these kinds of collection events I’m usually very vigilant and reset tasks pretty much on time. Every time I’ve done that I’ve gotten the goal with plenty of time to spare. This time though having to wait on pinata spawns was making it a probably impossible achievement. I was at nearly 50 pinatas but still almost 20 candy short. With less than 24 hours left I most likely wouldn’t have made it at the rate it was going.

Yes but that’s insignificant. It has nothing to do with getting Peter. And that questline ends once you’ve gotten the 50. So get them or not it’s going to end either way…there’s nothing after it.
