Working on my Tan – My Tan Lines Resort’s Fun & Frolics

I got to thinking, dangerous I know but occasionally I take the risk, that sometimes when we’re running around like headless chickens, or just trying to unlock Giant Chicken and other characters, we sometimes forget about some of the other fun elements in our games.

So fellow addicts, admit it, how many of you have been working on your tans this year. I’ve been working on mine non-stop, but living in the UK I’m still as pale as Casper the ghost. Only joking I’m not talking about our actual tans, but the Tan Line resort TinyCo brought to all our games in April.

The Tan Lines Resort appeared in the middle of the sea in our games, catching many of us by surprise, especially us who were beta testers. But after the initial shock of an island appearing out of nowhere, it was met by a very warm response.

Tan Lines Luxury Resort Island

That warm response was due to two things, firstly the arrival of Evil Monkey in our games and secondly we now had a place apart from storage to send our ever increasing amount of characters, especially for those long time players who have a lot. I like my resort a lot, I like that it’s an easy way to keep all my spare characters busy during events, without having to reset them on tasks. I like the new currency, the daily tasks and of course I like the fact it has brought Evil Monkey into our games. I can’t think of a single thing I don’t like, in fact I’d go as far to say I love my resort, especially when I open my game and catch some of the resident characters engaged in crazy tasks on the resort green. These have made me chuckle a lot and I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favourites.

Hope they made you smile, they certainly did me, and I looking forward to finding some other gems during visits to my game.

Now as well as the laughs the Tans Line Resort brings with it the chance to unlock a much requested character in our games. Evil Monkey. Now unlocking him is seen as a long term task, something to keep us busy over months rather than weeks. I’m getting there slowly but surely as you can see, I’ve got 122 of 240 blue Stewie bucks and 3 out of the 3 gold Stewie bucks I need. So I’m hoping Evil Monkey will be mine by maybe Christmas, lol.

And with how much longer it will take me to unlock him running through my head, I thought I’d be a nosey devil again and include a poll to ask you a few questions about where you are in unlocking everyone’s Evil Monkey too. So please take a few seconds to complete the questions below, and I will bring you the results next week. Feel free to leave any funnier captions for my images, but please keep the PG guys.

  1. How do I convert blue bucks back down to green? Need 32 green ones to buy tiki bar for tan lines pt7 but I have none. I traded them up I have 30 blue and 5 red.

  2. How do I get Gold Stewie Bucks? I have plenty of blue, but no gold……

    • You need to trade up your Stewie Bucks. You can trade 10 Blue Stewie Bucks to get 1 Red Stewie Buck, and then you need to trade 12 Red Stewie Bucks to get 1 Gold Stewie Buck.

      • Thank you 🙂 I figured it out right after I sent the question… For some reason I was looking at the trade system as down trading, not up trading, so I never really examined it (which really makes much more sense, LOL).

        • If you watch the animations it could be easy to get confused as TinyCo have never fixed it — they still have it backwards, e.g. when you trade up green bucks for a blue buck it actually shows you spending one instead of receiving one!

  3. I didn’t see the poll when you posted it, but I unlocked Evil Monkey yesterday!

  4. It’ll be a long time till I get Evil Monkey. I don’t have many characters, so I can only fill permanently the first 3 levels. I have characters to fill the 4th one, but not during events. It’s being a little slow getting only up to 6 green bucks a day (and the daily quests are clam generous for me. I’d prefer blue or pink bucks. Who would say I’d prefer not to get clams? We’re never happy I guess 😛 ) Anyway, I bought Barbara first so as to get some sense of achievement. Currently I have 4-1-5-1 so yeah, long way to go. At least he’s not going anywhere 🙂

    • That’s what I like, no timers, he’ll be there waiting when you get there. You’re doing well with such low character count, hopefully you will get few more characters from this event and kick on from there.

  5. I bought Barbara Pewtersmidt first, then King Butt, so just now starting to think about the cute little evil monkey, if Tinyco added more choices, monkey may even have to wait longer!

  6. I’m working on getting him up to level 7 to continue the questline, but his visual tasks are great so I don’t mind having the repeat them.

  7. Generally, I like that we have this option, and the Daily Quests are usually easy enough, except when the character is a major one in the current event. I’m at 51-23-6-1: In for the long haul, it seems. 😦 I am a bit surprised that the decos bought with Stewie Bucks (Tiki Bar and Palm Trees) can’t be placed on the Island itself; only on the mainland. But I guess we would run out of space quickly, if we could. And does anyone know if Quagmire’s Tiki Hut is a skin for his house, or a separate deco?

  8. Luke Russian Tigger, evil monkey is looking like a great Christmas present for myself. I love the idea of tan lines and I hope tinyco will put in more characters. Maybe use this as a way for players to earn characters that they missed out on during events.

    • That would be awesome. I don’t think they’ll reintroduce event characters but it doesn’t hurt to dream, does it? :p I do think that more characters (of any kind) should be added so that the resort doesn’t become useless

      • King Butt was originally an event character, so you just never know. I’d like see them put Giant Chicken in there for those who missed out on him before. And possibly the characters and skins that were leaderboard prizes, give everyone a chance of them if they’re willing work at it for months.

  9. Yowza, I’m pretty far behind as I just started playing in February, and at this point, only have the third level (Corporate Center) half-filled. So, at 4-14-3-0, I was actually gunning for Barbara Pewderschmidt as I’m impatient and those Stewie Bucks are burning a hole in my pocket…

I really like the Tan Line concept as we have easy access to characters when needed while earning a little suppin’ suppin’ and not slowing the game down with unnecessary tasks. Shoving characters into inventory is a pain…

Plus, I love the ocean and being able to use the water space is pretty cool…now I want some animated boats that will putter around the play area…and a cruise ship…hint, hint, TinyCo…

  10. I’m annoyed that the evil monkeys questline requires a task where he has to be level 7. So now I’m grinding him for levels so I can finish his quest.

  13. This is great timing, Tigger. I’m using thus latest event to focus on Tan Lines. I normally do every day, but now it’s just a relaxing experience. I do like that the whole pirate thing and putting it out to sea, but ?I can pretty much skip it. It’s nice to take a break. It’s amazing how good and healthy it feels to take a break. It’s good to be the king.

  15. I’m still waiting for them to fix a game breaking bug I reported to them months ago. I can’t unlock the last floor, I collected everything I needed and started the countdown on the unlock. Next time I looked it said it was still locked and needed all the keys again, but the characters do not show and do not drop keys for their tasks so I cannot unlock the conch floor.
