Update 3/13 9pm EDT: TinyCo has made a couple of adjustments in the game tonight. They’ve completely removed the clock feature from the stick…so now you must earn Blindfolds to make it work. However, they’ve added a task for Seamus (Sing Shanties) to also help earn Blindfolds (so now you have Peter, Bruce, Mort, Herbert AND Seamus that can help earn Blindfolds).
The timer is NOT coming back. The 4hr task replaces the timer (as they all take the same amount of time).
In addition they’ve added a task for Conseula to drop Cowboy Hats (6hrs, Clean the Town)
Also…as a side note for those struggling with Plutonium. They’ve added a task for Tricia and Connie to help earn more Plutonium
There currently is a known issue with the bat timer and it not counting down properly. So if you’re experiencing it, know that you’re not the only one. The best thing to do is to contact TinyCo via your game and let them know you’re impacted too. The more players that report it the quicker they’ll be able to determine what’s causing it.

Well the weekend looms large and you know what that means? No, not time to break out the Bunny Water (although it is almost St. Pats!). Nope it’s time for another TQFS Weekend Event!
What’s in store for us this time? Well in case you didn’t get it from the title of this post….it’s Telenovela Weekend in Quahog! So what does this mean for you??? Well….the long awaited arrival of Soap Opera Peter!
As always we’ll be back with more details as we go through them….for now know that the event ends on Wednesday March 18th (3pm PDT) so you have until then to unlock Soap Opera Peter or he’ll disappear from the game…oh and, as usual, you must be at least District 3 for the event to hit your game. (as if you newbies needed more motivation to find Lois in your new Quahog!)

Piñatas
Who remembers Latcher Stewie? How about the poltergeist? Well….they’re baaaacccckkk! Sorta.
Latchers are back for this event….only this time they’re Piñatas! Yes, that’s right my friends…we once again get to clear things from buildings! (I can feel your excitement already)
Just like latchers of events past, Piñatas will block buildings and make them unusable. (so be careful who you send on what task) Smashing the Piñatas (clearing them from the buildings) will help you earn candy needed to unlock Soap Opera Peter. So pull out your sticks and whack it!! Giggity!
So how do you smash them? Well what’s a Piñata smashing without a blindfold and stick? Kinky…
You’ll pull out your stick and whack the Piñatas (what did you think we were just joking about that?).
So what’s the spawn rate for the Piñatas?
Well….at a normal rate Piñatas will spawn every 2hrs and you can have a max in your town of 5 Piñatas at a time.
How Long Will they Latch onto a building?
They’ll change buildings every 8hrs if you don’t clear them before then.
Note: you will not see Piñatas until AFTER you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2.
Also…if you purchase the Piñata decoration from the store it will spawn even more Piñatas in your town!
Blindfolds
So what does the blindfold do? Blindfolds aren’t just for fun…they have a practical use too. Blindfolds allow you to instantly get back to whacking those Piñatas. (think zapper Batteries for Latcher Stewie) Otherwise the normal cool down time between whacks is 4 hrs.
Blindfolds can be earned by doing tasks…or purchased from the shop….
Which characters can earn blindfolds from tasks?
Mort- Swallow Jewels
Peter- Cook Disgusting Vegetables
Bruce- Be a Good Listener
Herbert- Buy Candy for Kids
Currently there are 3 options to purchase Blindfolds.
1 Blindfold- 10 Clams
3 Blindfolds- 25 Clams
10 Blindfolds- 75 Clams.
So How Do I Smash Piñatas?
Once you’ve reached A Whole New Mundo Pt. 2, part of the quest will be to smash a Piñata. You’ll see them hanging out over buildings…they latch onto the coins, they’ll look like this:
When you tap on those Piñatas the bat screen will come up & it will tell you how much time you have left to recharge your bat:
As you can see this still needs a full 4hr charge before I can whack the Piñatas. If you don’t have any Blindfolds available it’ll say Buy…but if you have them available it’ll say Use:
Note…you’ll see your blindfold count in the bottom right corner of your screen:
Remember you can earn Blindfolds via Character tasks (Herbert, Peter, Bruce & Mort) or you can buy them in the store.
IF your blindfold count looks crazy high (at one point mine said 17,000 +) hard close and restart your game a few times. This should reset the counter. TinyCo IS looking into why it’s starting off crazy high as well…
Now once you have a whack available (or you decide to use a blindfold) you just tap Smash and the game will do the rest…
And it’s that simple to smash those Piñatas!
Note: After you’ve smashed the first Piñata for Part 2, DO NOT SMASH ANYMORE! You will need to smash 50 for part 4 and any you smash before getting there won’t count.

I have both Tricia and Connie, niether of which have tasks for plutonium. Am I missing something? Been trying for weeks now to get plutonium and have only recieved 4; 1 from Lois and 3 from Brian.

What Plutonium drop are you on? There are 3. The new ones we speak of are ONLY for the Fine Arts District Case of Plutonium.

I’m currently unlocking Stewie and I do not have the option to send Tricia or Connie on a plutonium earning task. Is this specific to a quest or shouldn’t this apply whenever you’re trying to collect it?

I just saw they are selling the piñata decoration to get more piñatas in town. That explains why i am always running out of piñatas to get candies from. They want me to buy the extra piñata-dropper.
Now everything makes sense :O

Hi Alissa and Bunny. The spawn rate of the piñatas is longer than every 2 hours. I smashed a piñata (leaving zero in the game) then logged in 6 hours later to find only one piñata to smash!
Also, ever since I updated my game I have gotten less plutonium. It used to take me one week to get 13, before the update. After the update it took me 37 hours to get 2 plutonium cases.
Also, Alissa, have you smashed 50 piñatas as yet (you promised an update after you hit 50)? Thanks, you all are doing a wonderful job.

My piña tags give candy about 25% of the time.
But…plutonium is raining down from the sky. I started earning plutonium a day before Spanish soap peter came out and I’ve taken 2 trips, and halfway to my third today so no complaints.
Hope to get peter skin for less than 25 clams for a net gain, but fine if I don’t because we never seem to get to use the skins…

But, plutonium raining (kinda) for sure. I’ve just finished my third trip today (with NO reward, yet). Been collecting for blimp trips since the Art District opened. But, ya, they do seem to be on the more than common side than uncommon. Not complaining!

I have a concern with the plutonium. It’s taking a week plus to get it, and although it’s nice to have extra characters to earn it, it now seems I’m getting less. I’ve been collecting now for 3 days and still only have 2. It looks like it’s going to take way longer even with more people.

Thoroughly enjoying this little surprise event, in fact enjoying it so much I think I will get a piñata for my birthday this year. Whack, Whack, Whack….. Sugar rush…….. Thanks for the updates Bunny & Alissa, how you keep on top of everything as well as real life issues I will never know. But please know you’re dedication is appreciated…..

This is very odd but I noticed my characters are no longer dropping plutonium. I have been sending all 5 characters who gather plutonium, on their back to back tasks as usual, but not one drop in days. Normally I would get several drops a day. If I had to pin point when the drops completely stopped, I would say it was about the time they added the two additional characters, Tricia and Connie. Tried the troubleshooting tips. Any thoughts?

Try a force close/device restart to see if it helps. If remains same, let them know. I reported it to them that some players felt same.

I’m getting a 1 out of 4 item drop rate from clearing 4 latcher piñatas Is that normal? A 1:4 ratio of drops..gees it’s hard enough to get blindfolds as it is.

I feel a little desperate. Never before it was so hard for me to get a skin since I am a very frequent player. This time, even with setting clocks and stuff, it won’t be possible for me to get all pinatas. Okay, they spawn 1 in 2 hours. But this means 12 a day, and not always dropping candy. I think I didn’t miss any, but already it is quite sure, I won’t collect all I need until the end of the event. I am more than sad about this… sorry for my bad english, it’s not my mother tongue.

The one thing I think I’d like clarification on is do the piñatas need a building with coins waiting to be collected in order to spawn? If they latch to building without coins then what do they block/latch to? Am I supposed to not collect coins so that the piñatas can spawn? I am definitely not seeing an every 2 hour spawn rate.

So is this really like the other events because at least the other events gave a couple free shots at the target but now we automatically need blindfolds. Thats ok except that the time for the tasks are high there’s no way to get 50+. Not only that the piñatas don’t even drop candy at 100% so you can basically waste a task for nothing…are they doing anything to fix this or even consider extending this…

My main problem is how few blindfolds I get. I’m lucky if I can get 2-3 blindfolds to drop between 5 characters. I know that they’re “common” and not “always” but if feels like I won’t get enough candy in time. Granted, I didn’t really play much yesterday because I had work, but so far I have 10 candies and 11 pinatas broken. I’m trying my hardest not to spend clams here since I want to save them for the Star Trek event.
We’ll just see how it goes.

I think where everyone gets frustrated is that Tinyco recognizes a problem but does not help out players till it is too late. If they extend this task to Thursday than getting Spanish Peter is much easier even with current drop rates. We all know that Tinyco does not mind going from one event into another with zero delay.

I get that it may be an impression from a limited point of view, I am here to try to offer another point of view (Bigger Picture) that it is not the case. They were on the issues the moment they saw them hit the game and not work as intended. They were up ALL night with me trying to pin point and resolve the spawn issue. Just because you do not physically see someone working at their desk through your game does not mean someone is not working on it. 😉

I think it was a terrible decision of tinyco to make all the intended district characters and costumes suddenly event related!! (Not from the companys point of view of course) The worst thing is that they still bring out new districts but with boring characters that wouldnt make enough money during an event… i think tinyco is becoming too successfull. I already stopped checking daily and i used to check once an hour. I think im gonna quit soon…

No, thats not what i mean by “event related” I was talking about Babs, Jillian, Handsome Peter, Spanish Soap Opera Peter and probably also Death and the Monkey. Characters and Costumes that were intended and teased as District characters. Now they’re all of a sudden event characters! But thats not the only development i dont like. It were the little things that made the game so lovely and personal. Like the really creative and funny outside tasks, the special animation and phrases of each character when dragged and if there was an inside task the building had an animation. Tinyco obviously got changed by the success. Nowadays all that matters is to bring out as much content as possible with the least effort possible. All the events kept me playing for a while anyway. But i really lost the fun of playing and I’m gonna quit soon.

Why is it that you barely get piñatas and it is said that they spawn at a certain time and that doesn’t happen, I hope it gets corrected soon. If it doesn’t get corrected it was all a waist of time to play this episode.

They do not spawn at a certain time. It is every 2 hrs for a MAX of 5 in your town. So it is up to you and how fast and how often you clear them. 😉

I bought the large piñata for 130 clams to increase the spawns but now my people are hardly getting blindfolds.5 characters getting 3 blindfolds just to get 1 candy.what a waste of time and money.

They either need to raise the limit on the pinatas or lower the candy count to 50 to take 10 hours off this event. I now have 5 blindfolds 0 pinatas and more blindfolds on the way. This is crazy.

okay just a couple issues I’m concerned with at the moment: I logged off my game late last night well might as well be this morning around 5am and I didn’t go into my game after that until about 4pm today. When I first got in, there were 0 pinatas that spawned, BUT when I closed my game game out and went back in real fast, there were about 3 or 4 of em and Now since that first batch I only have gotten rid of 1 i think,,..Now for rhe other issue, I maybe be wrong about this one, but I collected a bunch of mustaches today and seems my count is still ONLY at 3. I was just curious if anybody else is having these probs or if they haven’t even noticed it at all yet…
when everybody gets done with their tasks again here in about 15 minutes actually, Im gonna see if any drop again and IF they start adding to the count.

Definitely double check the count. If you see them pop out and not add up. Force the game to sync by going to Ollies or a neighbor and back. If not by then, force close and even restart and check again. If still nothing, let them know.

You know this event has gone to pot when you have more cowboy hats than piñatas. I appreciate a good challenge, but this one wasn’t planned too well nor QAd sufficiently enough.

Are the extra plutonium tasks supposed to apply to everybody? My game has still not added the tasks, not that I am particularly in a hurry because I am focusing on the event (and still need a few blueprints too, 20 hour tasks are very time consuming).
Is there something I have to the game to make it add them? It doesn’t have any updates listed for me to download.
As for the event, I am giving it a go, but not sure I will be able to make it before the time runs out. I have 11 of 55, 7 of 20, and 6 of 16 so far for Peter. So far I have been doing a decent job farming blindfolds, just limited by the pinata spawns so far. It is an interesting enough mini event though.

The extra plutonium tasks are for the new District and unlocking Olivia. I don’t think they apply to earlier Districts.

They won’t. Only to Fine Arts. Earlier Districts had different Plutonium dropping. Only Fine Arts has the cases.

so far for me it’s the Plutonium drop rate that neither Trisha and Connie have drop anything since they’ve added them, and for the 3 originals caracters it’s been less than fun, like only 1 today

Remember that District drops are always slower than those of basic events. Districts will take time to go through. Just keep at it and you will get them. If you ever feel they are not dropping correctly, force close and restart your device to see if it changes the drops.

I’ve cleared 17 piñatas in just over 30 hours now — no extra piñata decoration or anything. Seems like I can reliably find a new one has spawned after every even hour eastern time. Seems to be exactly as they have advertised the spawn rate.

The Latcher respawn rate isn’t 2 hours like TinyCo claims. I opened my game today at 2PM, got up to 6 Bandanas, used 3 immediately removing all pinatas, and one finally respawned 30 minutes ago that I got rid of. Its now close to 3 hours after my removing the first 3, which should have returned 45 minutes ago. I’m guessing the respawn rate is 4 hours or longer.

I think there is a larger issue at play that only 12 latchers can spawn in one 24 hour period (one per every two hours). If you start at 3 pm PDT today, there are only 48 more latchers (12 latchers over four days) that can spawn before the deadline of the event (Weds 3 pm PDT) provided you aren’t maxed at five in your game at any point. Considering they don’t give candy every time, it will be very difficult for freemium to get to 55. TinyCo needs to either lower the number needed or increase the latchers or there are going to be a lot of unhappy people come Wednesday. The math doesn’t work and you can’t rush anything with clams even if you get close. Am I missing something or is my math incorrect?

They seem to be falling on average for us. It is possible if you just keep at it. It will all come down to how you play. Freemiums may cut it a lil closer at the current rate, but I am still waiting a few more days to make my full analysis on it.

Bunny, you can’t question the math on this on Pi Day. 🙂 I hope TinyCo visits this before it becomes too late. Consistent play will find players with too many bandanas and not enough latchers from which to get candy to achieve the 55 needed. Needing 11 candy per day over the five days between Friday to Wednesday with only 12 latchers spawning per day(one every two hours) and a “common” drop rate means that I hope to come close “to cutting it a lil close”. But alas, because these are spawn rates, you can’t even speed them up with clams if you wanted.

PS – I think the countdown for getting a wack at the Pinata is still in the game, just the timer is gone. I just took out another Pinata that just respawned and my count stayed at 2.

They only spawn 1 at a time every 2 hours up to a max of 5 in town at once. If you let multiples build up & then clear a bunch at once, they don’t all respawn 2 hours later. You will see one new one in yr town after either the even or odd hour depending on yr time zone. (Unless you have 5 already on buildings in which case new piñatas will NOT spawn.)

They should have kept it like the Halloween event where all spawn after the time limit. Sitting around with Bandanas stacking up is ridiculous. I’m currently back to 7 with nothing to use them on. Going by this rate I’ll have 20+ Bandanas by Monday.

Well, at least in my game, it’s only 1 and only 1 piñata every 2 hours and not 2 hours from last smash or even that there’s always 5 piñatas available every 2 hours. So if you smash one 30 min before your post, you have 1:30 to next piñata. That’s why it’s so diabolical… and impossibble to finish this event (skin) without spending clams at the end,

I love the mini weekend events as a lot of time I am caught up with the quest lines, so this stops me becoming bored with the game.
It’s so frustrating coming to this site, to check how the events progress and what the tasks will be, just to see so many whining miserable people.
All they love to do is complain about everything.
I would be bald if I ran this website as instead of thanking you for all your hardwork, they just moan. I’d be pulling my hair out!!!!
I play freemium and always complete every event without purchasing anything premium. (I obviously get the odd thing from the clams I build up from these such events)
So my advice is instead of complaining here, just log into your game and spend your time on that and progressing through the levels.
Or you could quit playing and poke off, giving this website a chance to be positive and helpful to those of us who are not pessimistic.
Ps I love this event and if I don’t finish all the quests, which I’ve my fingers crossed I do, I will still be happy with a smile on my face.

I have to take issue with this post. I rarely post anything, but seeing someone criticizing the masses for discussing real issues in the game annoys me.
I visit the site regularly for entertainment and previews of what is coming next (but mostly because Bunny is HOT!). When something in the game is frustrating me, it’s a little reassuring to come here and see if other people are running into the same problem. If I’m the only one having the problem, then I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong..But if lots of people are having the problem, it reassures me that the issue is with the game and not with how I’m playing it.
When something is offered for free in the game, people are going to be upset if they feel like they don’t have a reasonable chance to obtain it. That’s natural. Tiny Co needs to take that into consideration when they design the game. They can charge clams for whatever they want and I’ll decide whether or not I want to buy it, but if I waste my time trying to “earn” something that is supposed to be free, you can bet I’m going to be irritated if I don’t have a reasonable chance to get it.
If it weren’t for having a web site like this to visit when I get frustrated with the game, I would be more likely to just poke off and quit playing. If enough people just poke off, bye bye game and bye bye web site. That wouldn’t be good for anyone.

Lol. I think she was referring more to the fact that we like to keep the rants and vents to the What The Deuce, so it does not flood the comments and distract from the helpful information the post itself provides. (It can get out of hand at times, I do agree with that.)
On the flip side, I do want players and readers to know they all are welcome to voice their opinions and concerns. We watch and take them all into account when communication with TinyCo on a daily basis. It helps us to let them know what your thoughts are on things.
I think it is a fine line walked at times. It is more when the comments turn abusive and bullying that it starts to really bother others (like turning against each other or against us Addicts). I don’t think anyone likes those kind of comments. 😉
And yes, I am HOT!! It was like 10 degrees yesterday so I turned the heat up and woke up to 75 degree weather. WHAT THE DEUCE! I’M MELTING!!! 😉

I’ve complained more than a few times myself. Sometimes it has been for good reason, other times I’ve complained and been in the wrong. I try to stop commenting for a while if I feel like I’ve been complaining too much. Some of these events can very frustrating.
There has been times on here where the complaining has got out of hand and I feel bad for Bunny & Alissa for having to deal with it all on top of the hard work they do for us. I’m just happy it gets nowhere near as bad as TinyCo’s facebook page does, that’s just horrible to see and read through.

What troubleshooting have you tried?

This event is making me mad. First of all, it wasn’t announced so half my people were on 24 tasks when it started which put me behind. Anyway, I bought the Luchador which only dropped a mustache the 1st time. Waste of 50 clams. Then the 55 candies from piñatas is extreme when the collect rate is so seldom and we have to wait for not only blindfolds but also piñatas.
If I don’t get my clams back for that stupid Luchador store, I may really stop playing this game. Tinyco does not have a good track record of handling issues with me. I like to be busy with events, but I want them well thought out and fair.

Sorry you are struggling. The point of a surprise is just that… it is supposed to be a surprise. It is what makes a game fun is when it keeps you on your toes and just when you think you are done, a cool surprise comes along. 😉
As far as the Luchador… I purchased it and just tested it again in 3 separate games. Both letting it time down as well as using my clams to speed it up. A drop every single time as intended. If yours is not, please check the counts to see if you just are not seeing the image of the item drop. If still not adding to the totals, then contact them is a good idea. I myself would suggest to store it and replace it into your game. Maybe even restart your device or other basic troubleshooting to see if it helps.

Since they added more characters who drop plutonium, I haven’t received any after all 5 characters finished their tasks. Did the drop rate change also?

The drop rates will stay the same, so you will still be getting them at random

I just started to collect things for Jailhouse Meg, lots of the tasks earn items for her or blindfolds, and I keep getting Meg items, and I keep getting buildings that I need for blindfold tasks blocked by piñatas, so I can’t earn them. I am glad that they keep giving us new content like this, but I don’t like that they removed the timer. If it was temporary while it is fixed or we got given some candy for free to compensate it would be better. That way we would be more likely to get it without having to spend clams.

Do me a favor and please report this kind of issue to them from your game menu so they can see in your game what you are experiencing.

Just a heads up, Seamus’ sing shanties task and Peter’s cook disgusting vegetables drops blindfolds, in case no found out already. Do those two drop them for everyone else?

Can someone explain the respawn rates for the piñats!? Ive had none for nigh on 6 hrswhich isnt really fair! Ive contacted TC via the game but just wanted to know if im the only one!
Do you have to leave buildings without collecting the coins here or what?,?,

Quick scroll through the comments and people are awfullly whiny about this update. Not the best but at least its new stuff which we get every single week, they had plenty freemium and I’m sure will fix any major issues. People need to chill out just play the game and wait

The pinatas need to spawn more quickly. Will never collect enough candies at this rate (freemium). May be prepared to spend a few clams to finish unlocking he outfit at the end of the event but only of it is down to a max of 20.

Yep. 1 day has passed for me and i only have 11 so far. Going to be tight.
The blindfolds are not a problem as i have almost double digits of them.
Might have to get the pinata building. Grr wanted to save clams for star trek.

Just collect as many as you can until Wednesday & then if you still need a few more just buy the outfit. It will be way cheaper than the piñata machine.

My candy drop rate after smashing the piñata has been about 50% maybe a little better (65%?). this sound about the same for you?

Being that today is a day for calculating, that’s what I’ve been doing. It appears to me that there is a numbers problem with the candies. At 1430 EDT, there is roughly 100 hours left in this event. At a spawn rate of 1 piñata every 2 hours, there will be 50 more piñatas. In the past 20 hours, I have been able to get 9 candies. If this success rate continues, I will have 45 more by 3PM PDT Wednesday. Not enough for freemium play. I have made a few suggestions to TinyCo about this. If other players bring this situation to TinyCo’s attention, maybe they’ll adjust it.
Even if they were to change the drop rate to always from common, I will have the candies needed with 8 hours left in the event. Not much time for Spanish Soap Peter’s quest line, assuming it will end when the event ends.
Any ideas or are my numbers wrong?

with the timer gone we are going to miss out on 3-4 free pinata smashes per day. Tiny co needs to hire someone better to test their updates this is getting annoying and just think about the mess the start trek event might have next week.

What’s the drop rate on blindfolds? It says common but I had all of my characters on tasks to get them and I didn’t get a single one. I think there’s 6 so 0 out of 6. That doesn’t sound like a common rate drop to me. Since the event started I’ve gotten 3. Not sure how I’ll make enough for peters costume. I actually have more cowboy hats and mustaches which are rare drop rates on longer timers than I do blindfolds.

The drop rate is common, not always. So they will fall frequently but not every time.

FYI – For those of you who haven’t bought Consuela, I got a 20% off clam purchase (240 clams). Not sure if this is a Telenovela bonus or not.

Seems like the drop ratio between piñatas and blindfolds is a bit odd. In four hours I can get 5 blindfolds but only 2 piñatas, the blindfolds are piling up. Think there might be something else coming for the blindfolds?

My guess is they did this to give you some extra leeway so you don’t have to necessarily set every character to collect blindfolds every four hours in order to break all the pinatas. This way you can sometimes use them for other things, and sometimes be gone more than four hours.

Are you supposed to get candy after breaking piñatas? That’s what it says where you’re supposed to create the new Peter outfit. I haven’t seen any candy yet.

Yup that’s how you get it. It’s a common drop rate, not always. So they will fall but not every time

My piñata bar does not have a timer of 4 hours. Only gives an option to buy a blindfold! Is that a known glitch ? Need to report??

I really have to question the logic behind some of the tasks TinyCo assigns to get items sometimes..
Have Cleveland read moustache magazine..no moustache. Have Stewie draw a moustache on Rupert..no moustache. Have Tom Tucker but moustache cream..no moustache. Have Chris eat a large ham..moustache?

Those were dropping things for other tasks with mustaches. Lol. So if a player is in that district right now it will conflict with the drop for this event. That is mainly what drives them. Is the task already in use elsewhere?
