Peter’s Booty Haul – BATTLES – Groggy Gunboat Rewards

Fire up your cannons as there’s a high seas battle afoot and I just wanted to gather and share a little information so we don’t all start misfiring or shooting ourselves in the foot.

This post is about battle rewards, if you’re looking for guides to attacking, upgrading or gunboat levels  you will find them here.

Peter’s Booty Haul – BATTLES – Groggy Gunboat Upgrading Levels

Upon reaching Pt. 3 of the main Questline See No Evil you will be prompted to repair the Groggy Gunboat. This has a 10 sec repair and once repaired your gunboat will be ready to go into battle and as battles = rewards you will want to boost those rewards by upgrading your Gunboat but don’t rush these upgrades too fast as their is a sting in the tail.

You will notice that there are 3 boats in Blackbeard’s fearsome flotilla, but when you initiate your very first attack you will only  damage one of these and receive the lowest reward available. The rewards you get are Limes, (used for buying gunpowder kegs) and Salt (used to purchase items in the House of Booty).

The main reason to upgrade your Gunboat level  is it will initially allow you to do more damage and destroying more boats in Blackbeard’s Fearsome Flotilla means collecting the higher rewards that come with this. What follows is a quick guide to the rewards I got in my game, depending on my Gunboat Level, the Raid Level and the crew used in the attack.

It’s absolutely impossible for me to give you a breakdown of the rewards at every upgrade, raid level or with each crew member due to the way the game varies, many players will be at different upgrade levels, different raid levels and will have different crew available to attack, depending on how quickly they have unlocked Pirate Queen Lois and Salty. So I’m just going to give some examples of my rewards and other players can share theirs in the comments.

Again this has not been easy to write as the visuals TinyCo have in the game don’t always make things as clear as they could be, and we don’t get given notes of figures and variables etc, but I’ve tried my best to show you how the rewards vary.

Okay now we get to the nitty, gritty part, so tighten your seat belts as I take us through the crazy world of gunboat rewards.

Once you enter the attack screen you can see and do the following, 1: select your character/s, 2: see the damage they can do, 3: the cost of the attack, in this example it is 5 bottles of grog, (which you can collect from clearing drunken pirates), and 4: the reward you will receive once victory is yours.

This was my attack screen at Level 1 using only Peter to attack, you will see with destroying 1 ship the rewards are 3 limes and 2 salt.

image

This was my attack screen at Level 3 using only Peter to attack, you will see with destroying 2 ships the rewards are 6 limes and 2 salt.

image

This was my attack screen at Level 5 using only Peter to attack, you will see with destroying 3 ships the rewards are 9 limes and 6 salt.

image

But this is where it gets interesting, by defeating all 3 ships I then got the following screens and in the second screenshot you can see Blackbeard’s Fearsome Flotilla has now strengthened and I’m now at Raid Level  2 and with this comes consequences as the ships now become harder to defeat.

image

Now I’m at Raid Level 2 my rewards initially went down. You will see with my Gunboat at Level 5 I am not able to do as much damage to Blackbeard’s Fearsome Flotilla now  its at Raid Level 2. And as a consequence the rewards I will get have fallen.

image

And what’s more interesting is that even by adding a second crew member the rewards don’t rise.

image

So in order to increase my rewards I had to upgrade my Gunboat again. Now at Level 6 I got the following rewards, with just 1 crew member 4 limes and 3 salt, but with 2 crew I got 8 limes and 3 salt. So with the upgrade to Level 6 I was getting higher rewards again, so of course I then upgraded to Level 7 and the rewards were higher again as you can see with only 1 crew member I was getting 8 limes and 3 salt, but with 2 crew members I was getting a great 12 limes and 8 salt.

image

However you will also see with 2 crew at Gunboat Level 7 I completely defeated the Fearsome Flotilla and that meant it was strengthened again, now to Raid Level 3.

image

This saw something new appear in my game, suddenly I couldn’t battle at all with 1 crew member, instead I got a message saying Not Strong Enough.

image

And I had to add a 2nd crew member to be able to attack and win rewards again, 2 crew got me 10 limes and 4 salt.

image

The good thing is TinyCo obviously listened to the feedback from Raid to the North Pole and blocked attacking when 1 crew member wasn’t enough, so that you’re not wasting resources on useless attacks.

With my rewards I upgraded again to Gunboat Level 8 and once again I could attack with 1 crew member, and there was no increase in rewards for 2 crew members, letting me attack with 1 whist the other was on tasks to unlock Salty.

image

image

I’m now at Gunboat Level 9 and enjoying rewards of  10 limes and 4 salt with one crew, it was the same rewards with 2 crew members. By now I have purchased everything I need from the House of Booty so I’m just wanting limes for upgrading to Level 10 just now.

image

I hope this explains the varying rewards a little, to be honest it’s been one of the more awkward posts to put together because we will all be getting different rewards depending on levels, crew etc. Some of you may have unlocked Salty and be attacking with 3 crew for even higher rewards. If so please feel free to share your results in the comments.

Something else I will add is Part 9 of the main Questline requires you to upgrade your Groggy Gunboat to Level 10, once I get there probably later this evening I will add my rewards to this post.

  1. I just noticed something different in my game – I KNOW that in Groggy Gunboat 9 the first task was to upgrade your boat to level 10 – (I am at level 9) – but now the task is to reach level 5.
Is this a glitch, or have they altered the task?
By the way, you guys do one **** of a job maintaining this entire site. I don’t think some people realize how challenging at times it can be. So thanks for all the work you’ve all put into this. This site puts the other fgtqfs walkthrough sites to shame. I could never navigate easily through them, very disorganized.

    • Yes TinyCo changed Pt. 9 to Level 5 Gunboat as too many players were struggling reach levels above this. And thanks for your kind words, good luck in Phase 2 when it hits.

      • Oh ok cool. That bumps me ahead very nicely lol. I do have a another question, however; I just started playing this game about a month or 6 weeks ago (I’m currently going through the HORRIBLE task of trying to obtain two more eyes to unlock Asian Peter so I can get Trisha – it’s been almost two weeks of CONSTANT back to back attempts!). So I’m obviously not overly familiar with past events. I spent money on this game for the first & only time almost a week ago, & I bought that island that dishes out 13 clams/day. Now, I’m just wondering, with each new event, does there tend to be a premium item that dishes out clams (generally speaking, I know nothing can be guaranteed for future tasks).
Just wondering cuz if so, I’ll try to prepare by accumulating as many clams as I can until then, in order to hopefully purchase a similar item during the next task, that way I can always have a steady flow of clams.

        • Many, if not all, recent events have started out with a “xx clams/day” item being offered. While I have never had the funds to buy one yet, it is certainly worth doing, as long as you play regularly enough to reap the benefits.

        • Yes, TinyCo seem to be making the premium clam generating buildings a feature of the longer events. Whether this happens in every long event we need to wait and see but I always snap them up, as long as you collect regular it’s a win win buy every time. Apart from that I mainly purchase premium characters that I want in my game, rather than for what they do in an event to be honest.

And those eye balls, I’m still haunted by the drops, but you’ll get there…..eventually.

  2. Is the last item in week 1 of the black market even worth the coins? i think i would need 15 sets of pirates to recoup the costs… or are people saving up for next week?

    • Personally I’m saving for next weeks content.

      • I’m doing the same, just accumulating everything I can for next week instead of buying the last item. Last event, I didn’t know what the bags of cash or the kryptonite was for, for a while, & when I finally DID realize their purpose, I had an unbelievable amount to buy a whole bunch of stuff. Sometimes letting things accumulate is very rewarding.

  4. BTW, great job, RussianTigger and wildthornberry88 (as well as anyone else who is helping behind the scenes)! We certainly miss Bunny and her great sense of humor, but you guys have really stepped up in her absence. Hurry back, Bunny, but only when you are ready! These guys are doing a great job, but we miss you!
